Had this down as part of the N.E.S.W challenge, so I decided to find it anyway. Took far too long, no idea how I missed it the first 3 passes. Busy little spot, rekindled my campervan envy.
Found with Granny this afternoon, she took too long so I amused myself making an obstacle course with a broken picnic table.
I was working today in Maraetai and so since I was already a long way from home, I might as well extend my driving to down the Kaiaua coastline to pick up a few caches and this cache was the highest on my agenda! Now I have 1 of the 4 corners of Auckland so to speak. Having said that, it might depend on what maps you look at, some seem to suggest a line further north of here... but for the sake of the Never Eat Shredded Wheat cache, this 'line' will do. I came by here around sunset, the weather was wild, waves kicking up, it was quite cold getting out of the car and at least 12 camper vans were already parked up for the night with a few more arriving as I did. I would have loved to crash here myself, in the car for the night. It was awesome!
The cache never took long to find, not once you are determined to find it that is... as the previous finder has said the log is very full so have replaced it for future finders. All good here. Now off to check out the earth cache here too! Cheers FMZ.

Hi from Norfolk, England. Nice cache found on a lunch stop in our wenderkriesen vans. Thanks
We were staying a couple of nights here at Rays rest, so a nice stroll from our borrowed camper van for a quick discrete find.
Had to drop one of the kids off at the Mangatangi Dam for a tramp so decided to head for the coast to get a few caches before heading home. Wow this place is busy with many using this as a stop over. Nice quick find. TFTC
What a cool spot to park up and camp. Heaps of motor homes taking advantage of this place. Easy find. Tftc
We have found this one during our geotrip to China and New Zealand. We have enjoyed our 10 day stay in New Zealand a lot, especially its beautiful nature and atmosphere. Many thanks for the cache and also for showing us this nice place. Greetings from the Czech Republic.
Apologies for the lateness of this log... I completely forgot about it!
Found with my daughter (Wolfie109) while away with Mr NewlynFam and a friend of ours for the weekend. Nice and quiet today, so no issues retrieving the cache.

Tanks for show this nice place, found on our trip around New Zealand, greetings from Switzerland.
Went for a drive up to Kaiaua with friends in the evening for good ol' fish and chips. Naturally had to pick up a couple of smileys on the way, and this was a quick stop, TFTC
Hubby and I set off for a 3 day trip in our motorhome. We headed for a place called Wharekawa on the Firth of Thames to stay a couple of nights. We were a bit concern as there had been lots of flooding and slips but we were lucky. I had sorted 19 geocaches to find on our journey. 10 on the way up, 3 while we were there and 6 on the way home. I have another 19 smiley faces. Parked up. Such a beautiful morning. While I went hunting Hubby made a coffee. An easy find. Signed log. It was a wee bit damp. Coffee was ready by the time I got back. Sat and admired the scenery. No wind today. Yesterday was a southerly. TFTC.
First time we have overnighted here, thought it would be rude to not do it while we were here.
Too many campers for me to look without the hide being compromised.
Bumper to bumper right along this area.

Out for a drive along the coast on a sunny early morning. Lots of motorhomes lined up but everyone asleep. Lots of sparrow nests. They made quite a fuss when we approached. Nice hide. Thanks.
Was in town for the night trying out my new motorhome.
Great place to stay for a night. Very peacefull

On a round about journey home, picking up caches along the way. Really nice spot here, if a little windy today. Plenty of birds in the nests in the tree, glad we weren't attacked. Good hide. SL. TFTC.
My final full day in New Zealand after 2 weeks from Australia, visiting my sister in New Plymouth, then the mega event in Turangi, and some touristy stuff through the Bay of Plenty on the way back to Auckland. Today's final leg was the short hop from Thames to Auckland, mainly going up the East Coast Road to spend as much time in the country as possible. I think I actually wrote all logs today accidentally with 29/10/16 however. Oh well.
Drove up here and made a fairly quick find once I looked in from the right angle. There was a nest above me that appeared to be in use, and a lot of small sparrow sized birds around, not sure what they were though. Thanks funkymunkyzone.

Always dread this type as sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees but thankfully it was a nice quick find today. TFTC
Another lovely stop and find while staying at the local hottie for the holidays with Max.
Spent the night only a few meters from GZ in our motor home so had to have a look. Took a while to spot.SL TFTC.
I didn't get the right angle to spot this one at first, so I made three or four loops around and followed every branch until I finally found the cache. I now have one of the four needed for the challenge. TFTC.
Parked for lunch, and interrupted by a fellow stopped for a cuppa. Realised he was a fellow cacher when he disappeared onto the tree I had just vacated.
2078 Yep I pulled up for a cup of tea as someone was at the tree. They soon left and wandered the beach. So I went I went and grabbed the cache not sure whether they were cachers or not. I stopped further down for others and when they drove past me and waved I realized they were.
We have been staying in the area for the long weekend and departing today so we thought we better clean up these last few caches on our way out. We have been watching for a few days but the heavy camper van loading was putting us off. Today was now or never! Most had departed after the long weekend. We walked and soon we had the cache in hand. TFTC
Out today making the most of the long weekend sunshine. A nice day for a drive along the Seabird Coast and of course find a few caches since our last visit. We parked up closeby and noted all the nearby campers. We had to be discreet and thankfully the cache was spotted without too much hassle. Glad to tick this one off the list, on our effort to tick off the four corners of Auckland - 3 down, 1 to go! TFTC!
We're visiting from Florida, USA. That was great fun but no luck today. Sigh. Thanks for placing the cache.
Must have been the nice evening light but we spied this without huge drama. Turns out our geocamper is parked in Auckland. NINO TFTC
I came over to New Zealand to meet my son, who was staying for nearly six months on the other side of the world. Our intension is, to travel now for 4 weeks through this fantastic land and visiting a lot of fine spots on both islands.
Met in Auckland, our first trip led us to the Far North with some spectacular locations. It was a lot of driving, but we think, it was worth the result.
The second part of our travelling route led us to the south. Going via Hamilton with some fine locations, Hobbiton was an absolutely must of our "unexpected journey" . Went then to Tauranga with a hard upclimb to Mt. Maunganui, visited Rotorua to see lot of vulcanic activities, have had a lot of fun with Zorbing and Claybird shooting and drove then to Taupa, to doing Skydiving.
Napier with it's beautiful Art Deco district and the great Aquarium was the next stop.
Final destination on the North Island was Wellington, were we visited some great places and met some friends from Germany.
After crossing Cook Strait now we followed the east side of the southern island down to the most southern point of New Zealand.
Blenheim with its wine yards, fantastic dolphin watching in Kaikoura, the story of earthquake in Christchurch, following the famous coastline down to Dunedin with its beautiful and interesting places as well as the nice city of Invercargill were our main spots on this part of our journey.
Being in the South, the way now went up on the west coast back to the north. Crossing the Fjordland with its famous landscapes we've reached Te Anau to do a private flight over Milford Sound, then spend in Queenstown some time with the most spectacular activities ever done (Canyon jumping and Shotover canyon jetriding were some unforgetable experiences!) the way led us to the glaciers, up to the nice town of Westport and further to Abel Tasman Park to doing an unbelievable hike trough the park and an outstanding kayak tour with seal and bird watching.
Nelson, Picton; Cook Strait was waiting again for us.
Then it was time to starting back to the north. But first of all we catched the oldest cache of NZ, one of the oldest in the word. That was a must before we took our way via Palmerston North, Whanganui, Oponake to New Plymouth with stops on beautiful places.
Due to bad weather in the mountains it was not possible to do the Tongariro Crossing, so we decided to go straight north to Hamilton and then further to the Coromandel peninsula, where we spent the Easter days. Wonderful days with wonderful weather and fantastic places.
All will come to an end, also this outstanding vacation. We drove back to Auckland, where we performed the revenge of our Drift Kart competition and took then the airplanes back home.
Of course, even if was is not our main activity during this holidays, we were looking for some caches, which are laying beside our route.
So this cache was one of those, we've picked up.
Many thanks to funkymunkyzone for this fine cache and best greetings from Germany.

Not so easy to find. The grade must be higher.

Probably wouldn't have stopped if we knew that the cache was a bison tube as we were in turbo caching mode. Anyway, we allowed 2 minutes which wasn't enough time for these 2 blind bats.
Back at work this week and already contimplating a holiday in the sun rather than visiting customers. So at the end of a long day I thought I would grab a few caches in a roundabout route.
So while work had been hard for the first week the drive through the country side and down the coast was a bonus
thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Heading to Auckland (Hauraki Gulf) for a caching adventure on Browns Island. There seems to have been a mini explosion of caches that really need to be dealt to. This is our driving mission today...
Yes, birds were nesting quite noisily on arrival. Rather than bash through the shrubbery, we resorted to getting down low and looking upward. It was so hot and the tree offered enough shade from the heat and glare of the sun. After several minutes of looking from different angles, the reflected sunlight gave it away. TFTC.

1.05pm - With a previous DNF we hoped the nesting birds hadn't taken it but after a few minutes looking we spotted cache. All good. SLTFTC
Did not find after three of us looked for ages.Birds nesting did not want to disturb too much.
A quick find, cheers.
TIme to head home to Christchurch, the slow way!
Thanks to all the CO's for their hides.

The muggles around and about didn;t take a blind bit of notice of us... Mr P did the find as I am hopeless at this type of cache. T4tc
Too many muggles ...
And the birds breed, because I did not want to search

Came by for a little stroll on a grey morning. Took a bit of looking to find this one, but we did. Thanks for a little bonus for our visit.
Found on our EarthCache road trip, good hide, without the hint would have been looking for quite a while. Thanks for bring us east.
Slinking around in the bushes as we do, when one of the ocuupants of one of the camper vans comes over asking if we had found it yet. He didnt even know there was one here and he was parked right next to it. Three sets of eyes soon had it at hand.

When visiting this nice place together with Sporty-Ron and Knobelboy we took this find with us as a souvenir.
Unfottunately the info board of the nearby Earth Cache was gone.
The Cache-Knobis from Muenster in Germany say TFTC (#3142 @ 10:30).

My grandad and I found this cache while on our second day of our New Zealand trip. We were travelling to Tauranga for the next part of our trip.
We decided to go on a scenic caching route on the way to Tauranga - it included the Firth of Thames. After driving from a previous cache, we parked near this one and made a quick find. We were concealed from the many campervans parked along the shoreline. TFTC!

We had a free day so decided to go caching some where handy and the Kaiaua coast was the destination. This was not a quick find while stopping for a break but got it in the end TFTC
Actually I had had a search when last here by myself in April but failed. This time the eagle eyes of Mrs Oz in NZ spotted the cache quite quickly and I really do need to sharpen up my observation skills. The cache was cunningly placed and this will be my excuse for missing it the first time. Many thanks funkymunkyzone for a clever location and the cache was in good order and nice and dry.
A Sunday afternoon drive along the coast. I have a bach that looks towards this coast so it was good to look back at my place tftc
There were quite a few motorhomes, caravans and 5th wheelers here this morning.
Had to come a pick up a few caches along this coast up to Kawakawa Bay.
Cheers for the cache.

This was a tricky one! There were a couple of campervans nearby but we pretended to be interested in the birds nests. It's always handy having young kids along when caching Awesome spot, tftc.
Out and about after work this afternoon for a little geocaching adventure. A nice drive up the coast. Pulled in next to GZ to find another cacher already at search. Nice to meet you bdpmc50. Even with both of us looking it took a couple of rotations around GZ before I spied the sneaky hide. Cheers for the cache placement!
Driving back from a weekend in Waihi decided to do some mop up work.
Mrs NZT running decoy with camper van muggles directly adjacent to GZ. Was very informative for her being shown the portable washing machine and told they could stay here for weeks. He mentioned he was also in need of a good lady at which point Mrs NZT quickly departed and we left him to continue his lonely search!!!
I think we can say TFTC!

Found the tricky little sucker this time. Now for a run on the beach between showers! Tftc.
On the way back to the Tron after caching in Auckland and learning to love multis with HKCB. Came this way home for a bit of a change...plus some caches of course! Took a bit of hunting to find this one. Glad the storm is over, and we don't have to don full wet weather gear anymore.
Now to grab the Northern, Southern and western points... One day...

Heading home from a days caching in Auckland with HPG. I'd been through this area before, but since this new one turned up and we were kinda heading back this way I thought I'd add it to the list. Struggled to spot this one, but once HPG had narrowed down the GZ with the GPS, I had a good look and spotted the cache.
Now on our way back to Auckland via Miranda and continuing with our finds. Sun came out for a while so enjoyed the walk up and down this part. Getting close to lunch time in Kauau but a few more still to find for then.
