Disabling due to damage from recent fires. We'll reactivate when we have replaced the cache.
A beautiful spot up here with the clouds rolling in, however unfortunately this cache got cooked from the recent fires so not much to sign amongst the melted plastic! Thanks for placing a cache at this interesting location, I think we are just lucky the nearby towns survived!
We had been wanting to take a trip to Walhalla again. With the crisp sunny day ahead we decided to get the geokids out and about.
It was time to head home from our day trip, but wait lets just get one last cache for the day..... Off the main road and up we went. With the GPS very slow to react we soon had the cache in hand, log signed, and returned...... now quick we need to get home for a late dinner.

Day trip: Melb/Morwell/Walhalla (via Bruntons Bridge)/Holmedale/Binns/Edwards Hill/Store Point/O'Tooles Flat/The Junction/Aberfeldy/Matlock/Marysville/Home (Melb)
When we arrived here I realised that while I had loaded all of the waypoints, routes etc. etc into the in-dash GPS map thingummy in the 'cruiser, I forgot to properly update the geocaches in the handheld GPS! What a "nincompoop" (although Mrs B used other terms that I won't repeat here as I'm still recovering from the shock of her imaginative use of the English language). To escape the berating I was receiving I scuttled off in search of likely hidey-holes with nothing more than a quick glance at the location of the GZ on the topographic map and to my utter astonishment I actually zeroed in to the cache immediately. Woo hoo! (That settled the "war office" down for a while.)
This was, unfortunately, the last cache we found today however we still followed the routes I had planned for the day. (Lunch was atop one of the peaks on the fire-break track off Binns Rd not too far from Binns junction. Superb views!!)

MMMM I could say a lucky find without the GPS, I think it was Wetjala being an experienced cacher he found it, just as well seeing it was his fault it wasn't loaded. Pretty place though.

Back in Victoria we picked up a few caches along the way and this was one of them.
An easy find at GZ, great views of the town on the way up..
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

A quick find today on a 4WDing adventure. Let a little something special for the next person. Cache in good condition.
What a great spot to live! As we arrived by 4wd the sun came out and made us smile. The cache was found quickly. Thanks for bringing us here!
Steve & Erin on a holiday to Walhulla for New Year's Eve 2017. Caching out the local area on one of our adventure missions ))
Kinda scary driving a 2wd up here on a wet day. The whole time I worry about getting bogged but we didn't )))

Really nice area. Definitely not what we thought would be up so high. Nice cache. Thanks, Silkyie.
We headed up to Happy Go Lucky to locate the cache from Walhalla. Thanks for sharing the history of the area. TFTC
Found when in the area with taurus1955 and BentleyTB. The road wasn't too bad today, so we were able to reach this one in a 2WD. Container was exposed so we left it covered in natural camo. TFTC
After discussing the state of the road and, whether a 2WD should attempt to travel along it, with one of the railway workers, we decided to venture up here to gather another smilie. The road wasn't as bad as we expected so quickly arrived at GZ and armed with and the GPSr ventured out into the woods to locate and sign the log. Out in Walhalla for the day with misschief18 and Bentley TB

Having spent the day in Walhalla and just completing a ride on the WGR we headed up here to check out this spot. It was a nice drive and a beautiful spot one that I would never have visited before caching despite regularly visiting Walhalla. Cache was found neatly tucked away in the second spot we checked TFTC
After meeting the COs of this cache while they were finding one of ours up at Falls Creek, we made a point of coming over here to find theirs, and after the VERY detailed description that we got from their daughter, we knew exactly where to look and what we were looking for.
As we rolled up to the intersection, we immediately remembered coming here, well, to the trees across the road, to find a now long gone cache about 6 years ago.
So we parked the dusty Prado and took the nice short stroll into the trees and with the stupid Garmin leading the way, we took the scenic route to the cache and signed our lives away.
Thanks to Andrew and Lindy and kids for a nice cache in a nice quiet spot.
Cheers
And we were amazed to pass an obviously VERY lost "Fast and Furious" low to the ground import car up here heading along the track, I would say he would now be minus a few bits and pieces underneath.

Enjoyed the drive up to the area in me trusty old 2wd. A few small washouts but no problems getting there. An easy find in this very picturesque part of Victoria.. thanks..!!
I was very HAPPY to find this cache tucked away in its home, my GPS was spot on... TFTH TNLN SL
Visited today to check on the cache. All good. I saw somebody couldn't find it recently but it's definitely there!
Also checked the coordinates. Took another reading which was within 1m of the first reading so left them as is.

Stopped on the way to Bruntons bridge. Glad it was not camoe'd. Caching bring's out the explorer. Tfth.
Sometimes it is just staggering where towns were established because of the rush for gold.
In an area where electricity was only connected to the main town nearby (and possibly yet to be connected here but the bananas just don't know), this tiny town stands as test of past times but only just. Ghost towns are dotted all around Victoria that just showed the wealth that mining produced.
But today the bananas arrived at this beautiful treasure in the most bizarre area ever visited.
Winding roads to drive you crazy. A railway that starts and stops in the middle of nowhere. A mountain that just wanted to go up and never come down.
There is no way the bananas would ever have come here unless they were seeking treasure.
Thank you for bringing us here.
Plenty to talk about and lots of history to boot.
Let's start here with a rare favourite from us.
Well done.
