Today we headed to Sapphire and Rubyvale to explore parts of gem country. It took us some time to locate this cache. The coordinates were inaccurate but the hint was a red-herring. We eventually found the cache in a logical location. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks grannysmith1947 for the cache.
Found while visiting Rubyvale on our way back from NSW south Coast to Cape York trip. Granny Smith 1947, hello! We met you geocaching in Kuranda with your geocache friends. Thanks for you cache!
Found it! Lovely easy one to start off our Anzac Day holiday exploring a new place! TFTC
Almost posted as missing due to it being buried. I passed over it initially, but came back and voila. Tftc
Quick find thankfully since it is quite central. The story is interesting. I will try to look out for the movie.
During our stay at the Emerald Motel, we had the opportunity to explore the area and find hidden caches. We also had the chance to take in the sights and sounds of the local area. Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache grannysmith1947.

After a fun night at the local Pub, we packed up and cleaned out the Gemfields/Sapphire/Rubyvale region. Once that was complete we headed a little bit more East to Emerald where we both had unfinished business to attend to. This was the next one on the list. Quickly found once at GZ. Signed as F65 and A33 as required. Replaced the cache as found, then we continued on our journey. Thanks to all the COs who put out these caches !!
Found by Mary and David at 15:15. Haven't heard of that movie before, which fits with it not being very successful. Now we know a bit about it. Our thanks to grannysmith1947.

On the hunting trail with SeasonedBird while on a slow roundabout route to QOGM 2023 at Longreach. A quick find here. A couple of caching days planned in and around Rubyvale, Sapphire and a chance for Mrs Geo to hit the gem fields. It’s a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria
And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

Heading home to Mackay from Longreach, made a two night stop in Sapphire to explore The Gemfields, today we're in Rubyvale! After trying the delicious strudel up the road, wandered down to see if we could get a smiley in this small quiet outback town.
Thought maybe the BUDDIES sign was it.. always think magnetic! But after the hint was read we expanded the search radius. BINGO! Not so much under... more like IN. TFTC! Found with Globetrotters7701. ️

Another quick find this morning taking an alternate route to Charters Towers from Emerald. Thanks for another cache grannysmith1947.
Great Northern escape 2022 Day 133. Emerald to The Gemfields. After a great week of caching around Emerald, I headed an hour down the road to do the caches around Sapphire and Rubyvale. I left th can in Sapphire and ventured on to visit several roadside caches and a great hill climb for an Earth cache. I finished with a failure in the cemetery, oh well.
I found a small log, no cache, but I found it in a nearby location that seems even better.
Thanks for the cache grannysmith1947

I’m off on my annual 6 week adventure and it is back to Outback Queensland to finish off what I started last time but got interrupted along the way.
It is nice and quiet on the roads this morning and I’m now in QLD and the weather can only get better to what Melbourne is at the moment.
After a beautiful couple of days at Carnarvon Gorge it was time to head to Anakie for a couple of nights.
Arrived at Anakie then set up the van so now it is off to explore the area as much as I am able to do so.
My trip has turned pear shaped as my knee has gone and so there is now very little walking so if you saw someone hobbling around that was probably me.
Continuing on with my caching tour of Sapphire and Rubyvale and what an interesting place to visit.
So now time for a couple of caches in Rubyvale.
I hadn’t heard of the movie Buddies but it would be good to try and find a copy just to have a look.
Not many people around here but the caravan park close by was packed in which made me happy as I was staying at the more leisurely Anakie CP.
A quick search and I had this one located.
Thanks grannysmith1947 TFTC.

Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.
Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??
Thanks grannysmith1947 (F=14073 H=42) for placing this cache and adding to our game.

We are zig zagging our way north with micaparamedic, Papi4506 & Geoturtle37 and after staying at Blackall we are heading towards the Lab caches in Emerald via Barcaldine to grab a few solved puzzles there.
We had spent the night in Sapphire as the sun had set by the time we had finished the Rockhound trail. Today we were having a more leisurely day
We haven't seen the movie "Buddies" but we will be looking for a copy when we go home to see if we recognize any sites that are still remaining and perhaps get a glimpse of what the town used to look like. and maybe even recognize one of the extras. but for today we were more interested in location a different type of treasure which happily was a lot easier to find than precious stones and we are happy that the log book now contains our names.
Thanks but once more for the cache.

We had enough time for a short visit to Ruby Vale today. What a beautiful area with so much history. For a small town, it is quite alive with visitors and people having a go at searching for their own gems.
Before leaving to head back to Emerald, we stopped here and made a quick find under a little bit of shade with no one else the wiser as to our activity.
Thanks grannysmith1947

Found with Silverspirit1310. We actually found this one a couple of days ago but didn't have a pen with us. We ordered our meal at the pub then snuck over to grab the cache while we waited for our meals!
