Out for a bike ride on a sunny Friday afternoon, looking for a cache into which to put a trackable. The park is closed off at West View Road, due to the possibility of falling branches. I had my bike helmet on, so didn't let that deter me. Had to leave the bike to go cross country, and eventually found what has to be the hint object, though it was 10m north of where my phone took me. Re-tried with my GPS and the same deal. Had a through search around anyway based on the odd previous few logs, but no sign of any cache.
No luck today. A very likely hiding place was spotted but unfortunately was empty. After reading the last log we hope it is still here.
A great view of the zoo from up here.

Found - but looks like it’s been washed out of the hiding spot and needs replacing
Down in Auckland for a while, so just had to go out and look for a cache or two each day. This one was reasonably close to where we were staying and although the weather was very hot, I headed out around midday into the neat bush reserve above the zoo.
Following the GPS to an indicated GZ, it wasn't long before a suspicious location matching the hint was spotted and soon after the cache was in hand. TFTC

Made my way off track as directed, and trusted my phone maps for direction here. Wasn't long before I saw something of interest and quickly spotted the cache. TFTC
Wow thanks this was our first ever experience and we were puzzled, thankfully my young companions persisted, the satellite settled on one direction, and we spotted the loop! Hooray!
While checking WS for botulism affected ducks, took a detour to find this cache. Thanks
After a day at MOTAT, I brought Misses Four and One up the track here to see if we could spot any elephants over the zoo wall... and find this cache of course! Picked up a TB, but strangely not the one that was supposed to be here. TFTC.
Caching today and avoiding the showers with liketips and TheMexican and came in search of this one.
Nice little wander down to GZ and after taking the long way in we took a more direct approach out after signing in.

I was pleased to see this track still functional, if I remember correctly a few years ago Council planned to close it for Zoo expansion, looks like the locals won. Now I am not sure I should even ask, but how on earth did you find gz? Quick find with a great hint. Thanks Safaribastard.
It took a while for my GPSr to settle down, but then I still needed to expand my search a little before I spotted the hint thing, which took me right to the cache. TFTC.
During our far away from home holidays in new zealand we tried to find as many Caches as possible along our way from north to south this is were we started in the buzzing city of auckland were we visited the zoo in order to see the famous kiwi afterwards we went for the some caches around and found this one quickly tftc
I wanted to collect a geocache today and this one seemed like a straight forward one. However this turned into a game of fortunately/unfortunately... Fortunately, there was an unfound cache nearby. Unfortunately I forgot that Pacifika was happening at Western Springs which meant that getting a nearby parking wasn't that straight forward. Fortunately the GZ didn't have any muggles nearby. Unfortunately where my GPSr was pointing there was no cache to be found. Fortunately extending my search 12m I found that location that matched the clue and found the cache. Unfortunately it started to rain. Fortunately I managed to get back to the car without getting too wet. Unfortunately the drive back home took ages due to the traffic. Fortunately I'm back home . TFTC!
Nice quick cache to finish the day. Left alfred where he was, he can keep guard until someone moves him on. TFTC
Thanks to the hint I made the find. Up in auckland doing a tb drop. So left one to carry its journey from here. Tftc
Today was another nice day for our holiday trip in new zealand were we of course also found some caches along the way.
Today we took a trip around Auckland.
This is one of them. thank you for maintaining this cache.

Had a quick explore in this serene place. GPS co-ordinates appear to be a little off, but soon found it after widening my search and thanks to the hint. Cache in good condition. Contains lots of pens for some reason
TB was not in cache. TFTC

Staying locally with relatives whilst on holiday from the UK. Tried to do a bit of caching between the showers. Successful with caches but not when it came to dodging the showers!
Wandered about whilst the GPS settled. Initially couldn't see the host but once I widened my search it was a straight forward find.
Thanks for placing.

Great cache. Cooper found it. Good fun clambering around in the bush. Thanks.
Having the indignity of the only DNF in the history of this geocache we were finally back in the area ready to give it another go. This time the GPS took us to a completely different part of the little park walkway. Hmm..that's weird, having been here before. Helpful because this was clearly the right place to be - the cache was quickly found, signed and replaced. No wonder I couldn't find it last time.
All good here - the tb is not in the cache - will message the owner. TFTC.

Awesome!
I found this one blind since my app didn't let me view caches with 2 stars or more. Relied on the GPS and hoped I wouldn't need hints.
Spotted the flag after mistakenly checking a gully, but after not finding the cache right away, I wandered off and searched in the wrong place.
It was only after I had given up and came back by the flag again on my way back that I launched a resurrection butterfly and gave the place a last check, and then I found it!
The traveling fox is relieved! =^,~=

Chasing down our daily cache after an afternoon walk around Auckland Zoo. The zoo has changed since last visited with improvements around the African Safari area, a new elephant, Tasmanian Devils & a Takahe. Used the hint to make a relatively quick find. Miss Buttons TB dropped. TFTC
Parked up right near GZ. Got down into the bush and were lost. Couldn't see anything loop related near gz. So much scrabbling of leaves and various other bits. After about 30 mins, the kids were fed up, then I was fed up so left to go and suddenly I saw something that could be considered a loop. Hurrah! There it is! Was about 6m out for us but 6m is a lot when you are in thick/ steep scrub like this. Is this where they used to take Kashin and Burma out to trek in the 90s? TFTC
After collecting some errands in Ponsonby I was not ready yet to go home. Searched for some geocaches close by involving a good walk. Parked my car and made my way easily to GZ. The good hint revealed the geocache even with my GPS being off. TFTC
Thought this quiet path would be ideal for a solo hunt - by now Mrs Tuo Lei refused to come with me. Alas it was muggles central with families and joggers making use of the path for walking and fitness training. I thought I had the right spot using the hint but I just couldn't find it, and with the worried looks I was getting from people didn't want to have to explain myself so gave up. Will try again next time I'm in the area, hope it hasn't been muggled.
Took us a while to find offtrack in the middle of the night!! But the hint was the key!!

We took quite difficult route to GZ. After logging we found an easy return path.

P.S. we saw no trackables in the cache

TFTC. Lovely day for a wander about to grab a few caches. Wee walk through the bush, which was pretty damp need foot after all of the recent rain. However the cache was found nice and dry in its hidey spot.
Thanks Safaribastard for placing the cache.

Located this one quite quickly in a nice little area that has seen some tree clearing recently. TFTC
I teamed up with yorkshirekiwi83 this afternoon to clear some of the recent caches between Point Chev and Ponsonby. After a short stroll to GZ the cache was quickly in hand. TFTC!
Dropped off 2 TBs

Another Lunchtime search. Great day to be out of the office for a short while. after some snooping around, finally the cache was in hand. Did not spot any wildlife. TFTC
Realised that it was almost the end of September and I was wanting a cache found in September that began with an E, despite not being dressed for a bush bash this was one of the few options, so risked it. Couldnt take the obvious route in or I would have broken my neck in the footwear I was in, but came in from a different angle and soon had the cache in hand.

It was a bit tricky on what the loop was but we got it (we as meaning my family)
Was in the area with FMZ so had a look for this one to smiley up the local area on my map. I think we possibly walked past Aveygravy on the way on. Quickly found once the hinted was located. Thanks!
Pretty quick find here - place looks a bit different than last time I was in the area. Think we saw the previous cachers (Aveygravy) leaving just as we arrived. TFTC
Up this way collecting a car we bought on Trade Me, so doing a few close caches. As we were in the big smoke, we didn't expect to do so many in bushy and muddy areas, should have worn our tramping shoes!
A surprisingly quick find here. I was sorry I hadn't grabbed the swag bag which is always with me, but traveling light today as this was a good sized cache. No travel bug here, unfortunate for the previous cacher, let's hope it gets logged eventually.
This cache gets a fav from us for its interesting position and good size. I was surprised to see it didn't have any yet.

Hey there cacher,
Did someone spot my trackable? It is the little dutch flag. It is our first TB and seems to be lost right after the first drop!
Thanks so much for your effort.

Easy find, didn’t have to do as much fossicking about as I thought. Fairly easy walk to/from the track. Could hear the children in the park playground
Many thanks for the cache.
Many thanks for the cache.
battery issues with my phone had me miss the turn off and rummaging around longer than needed. nice camo and hiding place. left tb.
Mmm must be a sleep in day for gps satellites. .as the gps was as much use as ... on a bull.. Luckily the CO was kind with a very helpful clue that had the location spotted way back on approach despite the gps yelling and pointing in another direction... a lot of light would come in here with all the clearing that has been done.. and as if to test that thought the sun peeked through briefly in its sunny warmness.. nice
Took a bit of searching but found it after a short down pour

Great cache for dad 5yo daughter and 3yo son to find. Easy to do and such a nice walk . TFTC
Phaffed around trying to locate GZ. Got fixated by an area that seemed to match the hint but no luck. Decided to wander around a bit and only then did I spot another likely hiding place. Glad to get the smiley on this one. TFTC.
A bit of bush bashing required. . Luckily undergrowth dry. Came in from western springs and realised hunt was from other end. Good hint. TFTC
We had ear-marked this cache as one we would prefer to do in daylight, so took the opportunity this afternoon to come find it. At GZ it took a few minutes before we matched the hint to the right place to search, but we soon found what we were looking for. Thanks for showing us an area we have not seen before.

In the area to meet a friend from out of town and had some spare time to kill so knocked off a few caches.
Found the correct path and noting that there was a little bit of bush bashing required we headed off in the general direction.
Noting previous logs that the cache was approximately 10 meters out we soon spotted the likely contender from the hint and sure enough there was the cache.
Checked our GPS and we were 9 meters from stated co-ordinates, just a note for oother to bear in mind!

Out and about finding a few caches in between work commitments today. I came prepared with some 'non-work' apparel to go off piste to this cache. I found a way in and after finding the cache exactly where it was supposed to be I spotted a better way out. TFTC, Biggles.
Good hint, found by Zoovet and the geodog, though I suspect geodog was useless in the finding department, sniffing out news on the internose instead. Tftc.
Perfect hint and coords thanks. Fortunately goober24 had her bag of toys and donated 3 for 1 - plenty of room for more! TFTC
Out and about taking advantage of the extra day off for a couple of hours of geocaching. Parked up and made the walk down the path and soon realised it was going to be an off trail experience. Yeah, the terrain rating should be a smidge higher to reflect this. Anyway, overshot GZ initially. Retraced my steps and spotted the hint item. GPSr was reading 9 metres out, but that isn't surprising given the tree cover. The good hint really aided the find here. Cheers for the cache placement!
AAAAhhhh. Nothing like a bit of bush bashing off the beaten and formed path. Took the time to also retrieve a few pine cones for the fire place.
Nice quick one good clue dropped 2 TB's in there as well tftc Lokky 1 9 May 2015 13:04
I wandered off the beaten track, thought I saw a likely spot but my gps had other ideas so I followed it and it took me straight to the right place. Co-ords were spot on. Left TB
Was a bit more off the track than I expected. GPS proved reliable and took me to it. Tftc.
GPS zeroed out, bent down and picked up the cache, not usually that easy when there is bush cover. Signing the log when I notice another two approaching, phones in hand, nice to meet Frizred and tghawkeye.

Boy what a night!!! Caches flying out everywhere. I said to myself, pick one and go for it! This one was a most likely candidate. But I know the infamous slieschke lives much closer, and I was hoping he might be otherwise engaged with church matters. However, I arrived in rapid fashion as one does in these FTF sagas. Couldn't see anyone likely hanging around, and made way into the bush, I got to a steep part by a huge fallen over tree and tripped over, literally went head over heels, thankfully no injuries. Made sure I still had my keys etc.
Co-ords put me here, put me there with the tree cover. But I knew by the lay of the land I had to be in the right area. Only thing was finding the right tree! Several examples could fit the hint, but after 30 mins I found the thing and signed the log as FTF!!
Yeh hah, a special FTF this one: MY 100th
Then I rushed off like the madman that I am to head over to Myers Park for another possible FTF and in Hopetoun St got pulled over by cops checking licences and rego's and W.O.F's, I never realised my licence had expired - by 3 months! So after giving me a good talking to the officer decided to let me go, but I had to go straight home. So I did, and gave the next cache a miss.
Cheers for the cache Safaribastard!
