The pathway is open, but the bridge has been swept away. The cache has moved, the storm washed away the public walk bridge that was easy access to the waterfall. It is more of a challenge now. This is reserve land, so has public access, but the road bridge is possibly private (see waypoint for more details). Bring your gumboots? or risk wet feet if trying to get a closer look at the waterfall - you do not need to cross the stream to find the cache. Park at the parking co-ordinates.

If you want to visit the base of the waterfall, see waypoints. The land to the left of the bridge is open to the public.
Sadly this cache is completely inaccessible, and has been since the floods a year ago washed away the bridge. The cache needs disabling to avoid disappointing visitors! And I should say, that access to the cache is closed further up the track. The whole area is shut off for an indeterminate amount of time, although when I spoke to a landscaper nearby, he told me the council are planning on reinstating the bridge in the new year. One good thing was at GZ, we watched a lazy eel swimming about in the water. Always lovely to see an indigenous species.
The entrance from Mill Grove is closed for maintenance so will need to try another day.
Didn't find this a couple of weeks ago because it was missing. Very easy find this evening because it was sat out in the open. Tucked it back under after signing the log.
Looked under boardwalk at both sides where the hint said but nothing. Didn't want to shove my hand any further under.
Recent logs suggest missing, I am disabling until I can get back to the area and replace.
Looks like this one is a victim of the kumeu flood last year.
Having been working in the area the day after and seeing the damage
And now seeing the GZ I'm not surprised.
Thanks rusty for all the great cach you've put out.

Found it laying in a too obvious place, front and center.

Out for a few caches with my buddy Helefant. Had a nice stroll to GZ. What a lovely spot here. Helefant spotted it first. There were lots of runners flying down the track a bit further on today.
Must have been a fun run in the area. SL. TFTC.

Did not see waterfall today but cache is all good here. Thanks for recent maintenance!
Was in area ready to replace cache when I found the original, all safe and ready for the next finder
2nd visit made sense of the clue this time thanks
Went to the lovley waterfall after

We both had extensive rummage but not successful this time...

In the area today, we stopped to collect this lonely cache. Cache was located in an obvious spot, and we added an additional bit of camo before departing GZ.
#253 awesome area for a cache, some are lucky to have a waterfall like that basically in their backyard! Too wet at the moment to go round and have a proper look unfortunately. TFTC!
Excellent waypoints! This is the way they should be done. I found the cache, but maybe a bit exposed, so I used a few things to hide it better. TFTC.
Our first find for 2018. The trail down to the waterfall is a bit overgrown but we beat our way down for a closer look. Tftc!
Quick find once I got to the board walk. Approach via Mill Grove (not the way I went...)
Mr P and I had a bit of time so we filled it nicely with local caches around a wedding we were attending. T4tc
Decided to have a break from studying today and made arrangements with Merlot58 to tackle a few caches that have come out while she was overseas.
I had been here ages ago, but couldn't search properly with a dog across the creek barking at me as his muggle owner hung up his washing.
This was the first chance I really had to return and search. Headed to GZ with reinforcements to act as a distraction. But this wasn't needed today. Made an easy find.

This weekend it was a chance to start working my way though parts of west Auckland in the company of Mr McC (McCuthan Cache Clan) so the plan was hatched (infact it was a plan from a few weeks before that had been canned due to unforseen circumstances) So now it was a chance to make the most of it.
Caches were signed in generally with MCD (or some variation there off). So off we set nice and early so as to hopefully keep ahead of the bad weather along with the Auckland traffic (which at that time of the morning when we passed through on our way north was most reasonable.
All in all we manged approx 70+ caches and still made it back to Hamilton by 4.30pm which I suspect was a surprise to our respective families.
Another well found cache for the day soon located the cache then the hunt begins for the next.
Nicely laid out cache
Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

Out with Cats&Dragons on a late night - early morning cache run. Logs were signed MCCD but may have varied a bit as tiredness settled in. Thanks for placing this cache and giving us a reason to visit
Out and about for a spot of caching out Riverhead way today. Very nice weather for it. I parked up at the suggested spot and made the short walk over to GZ. Had a little explore of the area before getting down to business. Checked one side of the structure then the next, without luck. A return look at the original side and I spied a spot I didn't check on the first pass. Got it! Cheers for the cache placement!
What a beautiful place to come to!
Last time here it was mia so it's nice to come back and do it again.
All ok
Thanks.

Unfortunately no time for a walk, but a pretty little spot that's building up very quickly. Last for the day with Tufty. Thanks
I was out picking up the odd cache out Riverhead way today with Coldstream.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Had a good search all over and under the boardwalk, and unfortunately couldn't find the container.
I was meeting up with the CO and a few others in Riverhead today to kayak up a creek so popped by to grab this on my way there. Once I figured out which street I needed to be in to find the path I strolled along and found the cache no problem. It was almost like being a ftf with the nice new blank log
Sadly the cache was missing when I went to check up on it today
Due to the tree growth there is not much room to hide a cache, and it looks like the neighbours are vigilant about cleaning up, so I have had to move it from its old location.
You are looking for a camoed small screw top container.
I have increased the terrain level, as you will need to leave the path, and reach under the boardwalk, a drop off is close by, so be very careful. If you are not confident, please leave the cache.
You can still get to the waterfall, the wild flowers and plants have grown lots since my last visit. Look out for two metal posts with a yellow plastic cap, walk down through these to the water.
They have had a few problems with 4 wheel drives, quad bikes and dirt bikes, but no signs of that today.

Nice to have a chance to visit your first hide rustynz...with Albert and Huan waiting in the car I didn't have as much time as perhaps I needed to find the cache, although I thought I was looking in the right place. Seems not though unfortunately. Pretty dry a the moment, so the waterfall was not impressive today.
Cache replaced, a mint tin is what you are looking for Thanks rebel98 for checking the hide for me!
Nice quick find while out exploring the area. Would never have known about the waterfall here, TFTC
Out with lokky1 in riverhead. Coords had me a few meters away but my phone rang as I got to gz. I leaned in the rail and looked down and saw the cache peaking out at me!! Tftc
The cache page has been modified in response to a previous log.
To find the cache you do not need to leap over fences, stand in the stream, or climb the waterfall. The walkway is fully fenced near the caches hiding place. If bringing young children be aware that there are nearby hazards of water and heights, so please keep them near.

Small cache easily found if you ignore the second paragraph of the description. I am thinking it was to confuse finders but actually is more likely to cause a young seeker to get hurt trying to climb the waterfall. As we had small excited children with us we refused them trying and they found it by chance.
It was kind of hard when we first started looking. But in the end, we thought about it and the hint search low cinched it for us.
It was very hard (for us 7 and 8 years old) but in the end, we got it!!
Thumbs up!

We decided this looked like a nice area for getting today's cache in this nice weather.
After the short walk to GZ I searched the closest hint object which seemed unlikely before easily spotting the cache at the next closest hint object.

Quick find with Tommy gun 9.
Cool little area here. Found it very weird that the street doesn't have gutters though!!!

Used the clue and spent a bit of time looking but came up empty. There are limited places to hide so not really sure why not able to find. Maybe an additional clue would help. Cheers.
Out for a puppy hunt with lisadrysdale and beconaze (logging as D.O.B). This was one of a couple of bonus extra's on the end. TFTC
Went to see the waterfall, only there was no water falling today! While I was still slightly confused with the clue, the experienced cacher (mrs beconaze) I was with already had it in hand! Signed the log BOD, so as not to use too much room
Couldn't see much of the waterfall but did see a lot of the cache. Nice spot & easy find
Visited cache hide due to previous log, to find the cache safe in its hiding place, no maintenance required
What a great place to come to! This is what Geocaching is all about, being shown a bit of history at a really nice place, who would of thought that a waterfall would exist here at all !
Anyway, had limited time to look, even with the hint Im not sure where it would be, only limited amount of places to hide , maybe I had better stick to hiding, that seems to work -;)
Anyway, a further hint would be great, thanks!

Visiting area, decided to visit GZ. A lot of houses have been built since my first visit, so the area is quite different. Soon the view of the waterfall from Wautaiti Drive will be gone, hidden behind all those buildings. I have now included a photo of the walkway entrance, a little harder to spot now the fences have been put up.
Many thanks for the extra wp's as this area is unmapped on my road GPS. Located the trail head and the cache soon after. Thanks
After finishing the 101 Dalmations series, we needed a few more to boost our number to 100 finds for the day, and as his was nearby, we headed here. There were a couple of kids hanging around, so Biartch79 struck up a conversation to distract them, while I acted like I was having a rest.... while sneakily signing the log. of course!!! Yay for teamwork lol. Lovely, picturesque spot for a cache.... thanks RustyNZ!!!
Out with Newlynfam had just completed 101 Dalmations and aiming for 100 caches in a day. Got muggled by 2 kids but i kept them busy while Newlynfam found signed and replaced without their knowledge very stealthy for us. Tftc
Very good hide.Really hope no more trees are cut down to make way for construction-we justtried to picture the beauty the area must have been.
GPS was jumping all over the place perhaps due to the nearby High Voltage power lines. Don't know. Fortunately description had us soon with cache in hand. TFTC
Visiting nearby and thought I would take a photo of the waterfall as its pouring with rain! The houses will soon block its view from the road but today I make my way over the carved up drive way and mud to reach the flooded stream.
Interesting history. Huge amount of development taking place all around this cache. Thanks for bringing us here. TFTC
Joined forces with yorkshirekiwi83 this afternoon, with the main goal of clearing the caches out at Sanders Reserve, Paremoremo. We stopped at this cache on the way out, which was a nice quick find at GZ. TFTC!

A hive of activity here even on a sunny midday Sunday. Don't builders ever rest? Are they eyeing me suspiciously as I leave my patient Mum in the car while I walk towards my guilty pleasure? "I won't be long mum, honest." Only 75mtrs....tftc Rusty
Met with Vistra at lunchtime with the intention of heading to those new ones out by the prison, this was on route.
These roads arent on my map with all the new building going on out here. Found where we needed to be and quickly made out way to GZ, from the angle I was at quickly spotted the cache, this is going to get a bit tricky as that tree grows!. TFTC
