Great Northern escape 2022 Day 113. Lotus Creek to Marlborough. I got moving fairly quickly to get the twenty or so army caches I had left to do today before leaving Lotus Creek. That all went smoothly, and then I returned to the Marlborough series. That is a bit up and down these days. I saw some very interesting caches and a few odd locations. I then settled into the Marlborough pub caravan park for a quiet afternoon and a dinner in the pub.

A nice simple roadside cache to keep things moving along.

Thanks for the cache Nedandmrskelly

Found by Mary and David at 15:20. Delighted to find a good sized container here. We drove this road today to see what it was like now (as well as for these caches). So many memories for David, who drove this road quite a few times while based at RAF Base Townsville. In 1968 and again in 1971, he flew to Brisbane to collect a new car from the then Acacia Ridge Holden factory. First was a blue HK Monaro GTS 327, then later an orange HQ Monaro GTS 350. Cheaper, and better for the car, than having it delivered to Townsville by train. This road was the main highway then, and had some great long straight stretches, and no speed limit! Our thanks to Nedandmrskelly.

Watch out!
I peered down into the gloomy depths and saw the top of the cache container. Tried to use the torch on my phone to see if anyone was home but it was pretty much useless. I did see cobwebs and that should have been warning enough but i desperately wanted the smiley. I reached in, all the way to my shoulder until I could grab the container...pulled it out, and right next to my thumb...a redback spider! Im not sure who got the biggest fright! Man, the things I will do to log a find. TNLN SL TFTC

On my way to Barcaldine for QOGM 2018 . Left Nanango at 0225 and this was the next stop of the day. Good quick find. Going to Rockhampton to meet up with RoddyC and Mrs RoddyC some time this afternoon then heading to QOGM 2018 via the coast and across to Clermont. Signed log YOF as that is what I use on small and Micro log sheets/books to save space on the paper as I tend to write on the big side. Apologies for boiler plate logs as I have a lot to write up. We are heading to Barcaldine to attend the event and detoured a couple of hundred kms to do this loop of caches. Varied scenery and hides made it an intersting day. We left Yaamba at 12 noon and got back at 6.30pm. It was a bit of a rush towards the end as we could see we would run out of day light. Thankyou Nedandmrskelly for placement of this cache series and adding to our enjoyment of the area Big GrinBig Grin

Multiple cache finds on this lovely day heading south, after 3 weeks of fun in the sun. We are heading back to the Gold Coast slowly. What a fun FTF for us Wink we had spotted these last night and felt for sure we would miss out on the first smile. We don't chase them and always miss out on the fun experience of seeing our handle on the first line. This one was nice. Left us with a big smile. Thank you for all your work and accuracy making finding so easy. We are having so much fun on this lovely road. Thank you. Left Path for the STF. took FTF
