What a great day today! Drove from Elaine Bay to French Pass. Enjoying the views and the beautiful weather and of course picking up some caches along the way Solved and found while playing at the beach and having a little picknick, tftc!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Some days ago we spent another wonderful day here in the Sounds. On our way to French Pass we stopped here and searched the numbers - found them and got the right coordinates. After a short walk on the beach (nobody was around us, so we were all alone - wonderful!!) and a little climb we found the cache and signed the logbook. Yippie - another Multi found in New Zealand!! A big thank you to bumandworker for leading us here and showing this place and of course also for creating this Multi cache and maintaining it here on site!Best wishes from the North Sea, Germany, from Cuxine . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ________________oooooooo____________oooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooo________oooooooooooooooooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo____oooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo___ooo__ooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo__oooo____oo________oooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo_oooo_______oooooooooooooooooo________ooooo___ooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oo_ooo____oooooooooooooooooooooooooo_____oooooooo__ooo_oooooo__________oo___oooo_______ooo__ooo_ooo______oooo__ooo_______oooo___ooo__ooo___ooooo___ooo_____ooo___ooo____oo____ooo____oooooo__ooo____ooooooo____________ooo_____ooooo____ooo
I came to French Pass for a couple of nights & stayed at the DOC camp - what a delightful spot. I was particularly pleased to find this Multi today. - it was a dot day for Multis. Info quickly gathered & I was pleased to have both sensible shoes and a walking pole when I got to GZ - approached strategically (as described by a previous catcher) & was soon signing the log. Thanks for this cache, b&w.
A beautiful Waitangi Day at French Pass so had to come find a cache. All good here. TFTC.
Trouve ! / Found it ! Une marche trs rapide partir du camping, le temps de profiter des derniers rayons de soleil.4544me cache trouve.Merci bumandworker pour la cache A very quick walk from the campsite, the time to enjoy the last rays of sunshine.4544th cache found.Thank you bumandworker for the cache
Interesting history of the area. Strategic approach the the cache soo had it safely in hand. TFTC
3 January 2022 16:18. I had solved this one before setting out, good to be able to reconfirm my calculations on site. Stopped at the 'interestingly' signed shop and drank a litre of milk straight down (a stinkimg hot day and I was thirsty!), Follow ed by an ice lolly that didn't touch the sides afterwards. Then a short stroll and scramble to the final, glad it was a dry day, as these shoes have minimal grip. Very glad of the tether keeping the cache in place, and making it easier to spot. TFTC.
Found the cache after a lovely nights stay in the French Pass campground
Spent the morning looking for caches, what a great way to get the most of the views in the bay.
Would say that this is more of a medium difficultly cache. It’s no longer under rocks, but is still well hidden.
TFTC.

The terrain was a wee bit more than I bargained for with this one but eventually got the cache in hand. TFTC!
At the top! These caches in French Pass were not here when I was last this was, early in 2015.There are people at GZ, but of course, GZ is not GZ. we gathered some numbers - looks like about 100m, and yes, the GPS confirmed it was a short walk. But alas, like others before us, we found no cache. Looks like it went below,I checked but could not find it there either. So since I was perched at GZ, the dragon went back for a cache and some string. All sorted now, and this one will not drop down below!
Taybeedragon wants to do the top of the French Pass road, and invited me along for a geotrip. I have already done the French pass road, but there are a few caches I have missed, so I am definately in for a geo trip. As the top was the priority, we drove straight there and cached back.

Finally at French Pass. Stopped off at this monument to gather the info for this multi. Then off for a short walk under the pines. GZ post was at the edge of a cliff and not much could stay there. Arranged a replacement with a tether to aid it from further land movement in the future. Cheers
Bulwer and French Pass are on my radar to explore today, with the Seagnoid and Toby along for the ride. Left home at 6am and finally crawled back home at 9.30 having dinner at Okiwi Bay before leaving the sounds. Great views on a beautiful clear day with little wind. Lots of driving and lots of maintenance on this trip.

Collected the information required at the plaque. Did the calculations and headed off to GZ. There was only two or three places that matched the hint and none had a cache concealed that I could find. So DNF here today.
Did the sums twice to make sure. It seems a weather event has made some changes to GZ.
Checked our numbers twice but no find at the logical spot our GPS insisted was the right one.
A quick solve and find to finish the day. A beautiful spot. All in good order, signed log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache.
I read this plaque as I was looking for information for another cache without realising this was the other multi we intended to do, a quick wander back to get the information and sorted final coords. A quick find, TFTC and all in good order
Parked on the road close to the happy campers and shared the morning light whilst admiring their car-park-esque pitch. Along with yesterday evenings finders we headed to get the numbers off the plaque, then to the final. A nice wee stroll in the rapidly warming day, replaced as found after signing in. T F T C b&w
Todays plan was a return trip to French Pass after our whirlwind trip over there on New years Day (or should that be hurricane-strength trip?) Leaving home at 0700 on what promised to be a hot day of over 30 degrees I had a timing to be met and, being a good military man, was determined not to be late to meet up with caching buddies Ricardinho.nz and Jojo over at the French Pass camp-site. Together we grabbed the few missing caches of mine from the French Pass area, then a road-trip to the end of the road at Bulwer. 16 caches found and some beautiful views along the way too, nice.

This long weekend Jojo and I headed off to French Pass for a spot of caching and camping. 3 days, great weather and some stunning views. Sorry for the cut and past bit, and thanks to all cache owners.
Day one: our target is Elaine Bay, and maybe some on the way to French Pass if we have time. But we don't, as we didn't realise the Piwakawaka track was accessible from here, so they have to be got also. A great day's caching and walking only spoiled at our final destination when we realised the things we had forgotten. Small things like oil and salt for cooking and more important things such as a sleeping bag, cups and a torch. Oh well, just as well the weather was great.....
Quick multi at French Pass after setting up camp for the evening and walking off our meal with a stroll. Easy find and a nice bit of history. Thanks Bum.

I found this cache the first time I visited French Pass, but for some reason did not log it here. This is an absolutely stunning place! I have now signed the log a second time. TFTC!
We sat in the car and had a cuppa as we watched some people board their boat and head away to the island - much braver than we are to take a boat out into water like that - certainly can't have been a very nice trip. We worked out where to go while sitting in the car then went for the find - GK did the honours with this one - we couldn't get back to the shelter of the car quick enough tftc
No problem to work out the co-ordinates and find the cache. It was very close at the edge of its hiding place... a spot not for eternity, I think...
Thanks for hiding!
Thanks for hiding!
A fast multi for the end of the day, although finding the track was interesting. We took what we thought might be the path and ran into a couple of muggles also looking for the track. Mutual agreement put us over the fence and after they had headed on we found the cache and returned to the car.
As I turned that last corner into the bay I saw cars everywhere and a massive marquee at the end of the road, lots of people having a good time in the marquee by the sound of it as i snapped a quick photo of the plaque and then went down onto the beach to so the calculations. No one around as I made a quick find. Now its time to get my tent up for the night. A good days caching, the bulk of which were bumandworker, thanks for a fun day

Enjoyed this little multi before lunch. I totally agree - nice to see the women recognised. Lovely and sheltered down here after the cold wind up the top. Lots of evidence that there are many out on the water but we had the place to ourselves once the only other picnickers moved on as we arrived. TFTC #8624
Interesting bit of information. Found it before heading back to enjoy the sunset.
Had to reset my GPS as I ended up at old Arthur Cruickshank Elmsie's grave the first time. Interesting but no GC. Once I got the GPS to realize we were not off the coast of Ghana, it was a quick find. Really stunning location but campground is crowded in summer.
I decided to take some time out this morning and take an early morning drive to French Pass and find a few caches along the way. Well that's definitely the end of the road... Parked my car and wandered over to collect the required information. After that was sorted it was a short walk along to the cache and a quick find there. I hope the erosion doesn't get the better of it! Time to head back along the long and winding road to 'civilisation' now. TFTC, Biggles.
Nice piece of local history. Coords quickly worked out then a quick find at the final. Thanks for the multi cache.
I decided today was the day to do a Bulwer Drive By and collect a few "new" caches on the way.
A nice short multi. Calm with no wind down here and sparkling water. Sheltered from the cool Sou'wester blowing through the Pass.

After eating lunch at a picnic table in the nearby camping ground, we went for a walk to the published co-ordinates. There were lots of parked cars nearby, so maybe the occupants were out on a boat somewhere. We soon gathered the information and continued our walk to GZ. Looks like the sea is winning the war here as there were some massive trees down on the sea side of the track, as a result of the sea scouring the cliffs.
A quick find once StreetWalker checked the location I suggested . We had an enjoyable couple of hours here in French Pass, thanks to the wealth of caches in the area. TFTC.

Sat and work out clues while having lunch in the sun, short walk to GZ, Co-ods spot on. Another FTF for the day. TFTC.
FTF with Kiwi Grandad. Stunning day at French Pass today. A multi with an interesting plaque and a bit more historical knowledge to relate to my cache placed at Anaru View. Sat and enjoyed a coffee along from the plaque while we worked out the answers. Then feeling refreshed we wandered off for the quick find with spot on coordinates. A definite favourite for me.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.
