I like to combine running and caching and this seemed like the perfect combo - Coppermine Loop - alas I was to find out later it involved a 500m climb! Lol.

This was a killer! I hadn't researched it enough and hadn't expected such a climb from the previous cache. Anyway, the view at the time was the reward! Easily found. Slipped many times coming back down! TFTC.

TECATS (TwigNZ, Etherlord and the Seagnoid) are out again for another therapeutic walk in the woods. The original intent was to walk to Wharite, but then we realised we didn't have the time for that so just went to the mine site and back via the loop.
Nice intro in the cache page, but the CO dissed a couple of items - it also has slips to cross, and interesting mining sites, although the mining sites are on a couple of small side tracks.
Interesting little building just below the cache. The farmer's get-away-from-it-all place?

It's been been a while since TECATS (TwigNZ, Etherlord Clan and the Seagnoid) have arranged to spend a day tramping together, but plans were made a little while ago that we would have a bit of a wander around some of the tracks around Coppermine Creek.

We love these kind of tracks that take you off for a little tree-time, and if we can find a few caches along the way then all the better. Even more so if they are archived, as we love finding those. But we are happy grabbing whatever caches are still live too, just like this one.

We were on the downhill leg of the loop, and my toes were very much looking forward to getting to flat land again. An easy find thanks to the helpful Hint, so whilst EC took care of the logging, I snapped off a few photos...

Thank you for encouraging me to visit.

TECatS (TwigNZ, Etherlord Clan, and the Seagnoid) are on the trail again!
It's been a while since our last forest foray, and even I have noticed the impact of this lack of tree time on my mental well being. Me thinks we best do something about remedying this? Wink

When the Coppermine Creek area was suggested, I was enthusiastically eager to enter the area.
My Dad and I tramped to the former Coppermine Creek Hut when I was about 9, and I've always wanted to go back to the area.
A few years ago I researched the hut, only to find that it has been removed some time in the last 30 years...
*I really should get around to placing a cache here instead?!?* Big Grin

TwigNZ and the Seagnoid stayed the night at my 127.0.0.1 and we set off approx 8am.
A quick trip over the Saddle Road through the wind farm, and we were soon onto the gravel road leading to the Earthcache in the carpark at the end of the road.
With the required information gathered, we set off on the track towards the carpark.
What, is that right? Yes, yes it is! It's a loop track after all Razz

We are coming down from our high of finding one of the CO's arvhived caches that is still in place and was last found 1000+ days ago, and descending the downendicular track to this GZ where the dense bush suddenly opens out to gorse and grass.
It was a quick find thanks to the simple hint that was called out, and the formalities were soon completed.

Thanks for the hide, and the long overdue tree time.

Thanks edvern for placing this cache in the hills on the Coppermine Loop

It was a few months ago I walked this track with TracyP and from what I recall the cache was in good condition. We emerged from the bush to a freezing Southerly so we're glad to have our jackets and hats!

Had planned to do the loop track today but when we got there the track was closed due to slips. Hopefully we will return once the track is reopened.

This is the third time I've walked the Coppermine Track; the first time to The Forks, & the second time up the Wharite Track towards the summit. Like other cachers, I missed the turn-off & finished up at the Coppermine, where the sign pointed me back to the loop. Very very steep climb from the creek up to the No Billy Goat cache, but enjoyable. After lunch there, it was an easy kilometre walk to this cache which was also in good order, had not been found/signed for over a year. Thanks edvern for the cache, & for the day out in the hills.

Sorry for the late log and the copy and paste, headed down to do some caching (while hubby played paintball) knowing the weather was going to be lovely, it was lovely it was really hot, we managed to get a few before heading home again, the sunburn wasn't over the top only forgetting not to put it on late arvo. Thanks for taking the time to place the cache.

ohh a little windy on this side, which was nice, legs/feet craving for a much needed rest, we are so close now.. then i roll my ankle, thankfully its buggered small rest and I am back hobbling along with the fence for aid, great loop to do, lucky we didn't miss the turn off for these ones, and took the walk up to the mine first before coming back to finish the loop. thanks for taking the time to places the caches we loved the walk which I know full well I would have never done if it wasn't for caching

I was in the area for a pre-dawn raid to find some delicious bambi. Whilst I didn't get any dinner I did find a couple of caches which is a good consolation prize I suppose. As it was dark when I set off, I too missed the turn off to the top and headed towards the mine instead. Once back on the main track it was a hard slog to the top (my calves are still hurting two days later). Awesome view over farmland here. We sat and enjoyed the view in the warm glow of the sun for a while before heading back down to the car. Found the cache fairly quickly and without my GPS too! Cache is still in good condition. Thanks for the cache and the smiley.

Got here amazingly quickly after the "Billy goat" cache. Maybe it was because we didn't wander off in the wrong direction, or maybe it was because it's down hill in this direction. Either way, we were quite happy about that Big Grin
We sat & enjoyed the amazing peace & quiet & scenery for a while, as we signed the log. This is a beautiful spot - Thanks for putting a cache here edvern.
Left a pet rock - a hedgehog. TFTC & the {FTF}
