Stage 2 of our trip was a few days in Tasmania. We headed over to Bruny Island to stay at a friends cabin before spending a day in Hobart. I dont think I have eaten as many delicious oysters in my life as I have over the last few days! Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining caches for us to find.
Nyssaflutterby and I were on holiday in Tasmania and stopped here though she had been here before. I loved the view from the top of all those stairs and it has reignited my interest to read the book about Trugannini. Thanks for placing this cache at this beautiful location.
Out and about from our house sit on North Bruny, we stopped here to (a) show our vsiting daughter the view and (b) finally grab this EC . The day was sunny but cold and much less windy than on previous visits. The carpark was chockers and the steps to the lookout were very busy. Some climbed grimly, grinding it out, some breezed up or down, many stopped for selfies (or to draw breath) along the way.Great view from the top on this sunny day. Clues gathered and info has been sent to the CO.Thanks for the EC and the cardio workout. Think i can skip leg day this week.
Walked from our campsite to the lookout and made our observations. Luckily walk timed perfectly to cincide with sunset. Lovely. TFTC and tmbolo lesson
Exploring Bruny Island today and oneof the stops was at your EC. Thanks for showing us how this formation occured.
Out and about on Bruney Island today and visited this Earth Cache. Answers sent to CO. TFTEC
I love Tasmania and am so pleased to have had the opportunity to explore more of it! We made a day trip to Bruny and, being at the end of our week, enjoyed the casual feast of offerings it provided. Sitting and tasting, relaxing! It's a pretty island, though, and one day wasn't enough, but this was a great stop and an interesting EC to learn more about this unique feature. Thanks for the EC!
Visited on a blustery & showery day. Hopefully the answers to CO are ok?Tambolas are one of my favourite features. Need a combination of factors to be just so.Thanks for the Earthcache
Touring Bruny Island and collecting caches. The only way to the cache coordinates was by jumping the fence of the wooden observation platform. Yet the amount of muggles, and the wildlife officer present, ruled that out.I tried getting to the GZ location from the beach, but there was no real path, and of course the muggles and the wildlife officer would have still been a problem.
Accidentally deleted my answers after completing this the first time. Great cache! TFTC!
Found with McAdies and Jelly_Bean14.We are on holidays in Tasmania. What a great spot and thanks for placing a cache here for us to find.
Found on our Trip to Tasmania. What a beautiful spot here.It was wet, windy and we still went up all those stairs for a geocache...Love it.Got back to the car and our pants were soaked LOLThanks for placing the cache for us to find today.
Found with McAdies and Geo_Eddie.I am having a great time visiting Tasmania.Thank you for placing this geocache for us to find today!
We drove from West Kentish today, for a 2 night stay on Bruny Island. We had a great ride down. We got to the neck and ran up to the look out( well huffed and puffed ) 250 steps. We discussed the answers to the questions then headed to our accommodation for the night. Thanks for this earth cache, always fun to learn more.
A visit to Bruny Island is not complete without a visit to the lookout at the Neck.
Have visited a number of times over the years - not sure if I'm a fan of the very visible asphalt car park but it's obviously safer.
Often go for a stroll on the eastern side of the Neck, but have never really stopped and had a closer look at the other side of the road.
Required information taken note of, and answers sent to the CO.

One of nine caches found today while on a trip to Bruny Island to do the Fluted cape walk. We arrived on Bruny just after 10am and drove down to Adventure Bay, stopping for two caches along the way. We found a traditional while on the Fluted cape track and we did an adventure lab and found another traditional at Adventure Bay afterwards, ending up with a total of nine finds for the day.
We stopped off at the tombolo on our way to Adventure Bay and, while there, got the answers to this EarthCaches questions. Great views from GZ.
Thanks for the EarthCache Moneydork!

Visited with a friend on a day trip around the island on 2 wheels.
This resulted in some interesting research on the formation and the likely events a mere 10,000 years ago.

Doing a 3week tour of Tassie and we decided to visit Bruny Island, this was a very popular spot with many people enjoying the sights.
The earthcache gave us something else to look out for in explaining the features here.
Would have liked to come by of the evening to see the birdlife as there was so many footprints about.

We continued today our tour in Tasmania, AUS, and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Earth-Cache.
The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.
The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The answers were sent.
Thanks to Moneydork for the generation of this nice cache Bruny Island Tombolo (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.
PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they appeared.
Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood.

A quick trip to Bruny Island today to test out a boat budgie had borrowed, the boat didn't workout so well but the trip was ok finding nine caches instead of the 3 watery ones we had planned.

With my partner catnap777 having sent off our culuded response to the intricate questionnaire regarding information gleaned about the Tombolo and surrounding geographic features, I believe it is incumbent upon me to tabulate our experiences as attended thus ensuring acquisitions of the desired smiley. It was good.

Actually it was really good.
Looking out over the spit from this elevated position gave us the view we were hoping to see driving along the neck road. At no other point could we see the bay and the open sea at the same time.

What an awesome place Bruny Island is. We were so lucky to see Dolphins as we were gathering the information for this Earthcache.
Thank you Moneydork for the memories .
We had this trip to Tasmania on our wish list very soon after we met. The meticulous planning began a few months ago when we finally set a date to sail to a place that I had been before, but never cached, and for dalerious, a place he cached, but never really got to see the real beauty of this place, and all it's glory. God's country about sums it up.
We started our adventure in the North West and traversed the entire Island in 10 days. We thought the weather was going to thwart our plans, but all it did was change the itinerary a tad.
Where back home was flooding, we had mostly sunshine here; apart from the North of your lovely state, and our thoughts were with those who were affected both here and at home.
Caches here took us to extraordinary places; one's we will never forget.
We also got to meet some cachers; we can't wait to meet the rest .

Have looked at this one a few times but didn't do the climb again until today. Lovely views from up here. Bruny Island is a great place to visit. Slowly getting through the caches Thanks for this one TriggerFish
Our kids are finally old enough to look after themselves for a few days. So, with my wife having some holidays coinciding with their school holidays, she and I took the opportunity for a quick 6 day tour - with no kids - of a few carfeully selected areas of Tasmania. We opted for the first night in Richmond, before continuing on to Bruny Island, then Hobart and the Tasman Peninsula.
Pulling into the parking lot, my wife spied the stairs and then let out a string of expletives usually only reserved for wharfies in the public bar of their favoruite pub.So I made sure she climbed them. Right. To. The .Top. Never checked the count myself, but apparently there are 235 stairs.
At the top, we enjpiyed the view, which I think is well worth the climb.
I just happen to own an earthcache about another tombolo (on Hinchinbrook Island in North
Queensland [(Hinchinbrook Island Tombolo)](https://coord.info/GC79ADJ)) so I am familair with the geology on display here. Answers have been sent to the CO and permission to log received.
Lots of laughs here. Have a crooked favourite point.
Many thanks Trigger_Fish.

I visited Bruny Island last week with our motorbike group so this is a bit of a late log. I had never been to the island before and was surprised by how big it was and how many lovely spots there are to see on the island. I managed to do the Adventure lab and another couple of traditionals while on the island and even picked a few wild blackberries to enjoy.
I walked to the lookout in my bike gear but it was such a great view from the top that it was well worth the effort. I did envy all the other walkers in their shorts and sandles. Thanks for a great earthcache and answers sent

Loved walking the spit, even though it was very cold and windy! Thanks for an interesting cache, I learnt some interesting things about Tombolos
A busy little spot here, especially later in the afternoon when the light is just-so-right.
Such an interesting location. Now that I know all about Tombolos I'll be on the lookout for more of them in the future Thanks Moneydork for the educational cache.

Hello Trigger_Fish thank you for the cache
I don't know how many time I have walked up here and looked out over the neck.
The answers to the question are on there way.
Today I was caching with EeePees on Bruny Island. The weather didn't look that great when I left home but turned out to be an ok day.
As usual caching with EeePees was another great day.

hi Trigger_Fish, and thanks for the EarthCache; found today with AlbyDangles on our most excellent Bruny escapade, caught the first ferry over this morning, and dodged most of the weather.
Unfortunately during Covid, there are not too many people about; but at least we could get a parking spot; and only had to dodge a handful of muggles; so we could spend some leisurely time at the lookout.
There's been a lot of work here recently, with major upgrades to the carpark, the walkways and stairs, and road-sealing.
Thanks for bringing us here, I better understand what a tombolo really is now. Answers on way.
cheers, EPs

We spent the last few days on Bruny Island as a bit of a family getaway in celebration of a birthday. While we were there, we of course paid a visit to the wonderful lookout at the neck.
What a wonderful view! Unfortunately, with a young child in tow, we were not going to be there in the evening for the penguins, but we definitely made the most of it while we were there! Fortunately, despite terrible weather previously (over 30 mm of rain in under 24 hours!), we found ourselves with great weather while at the neck, with magnificent views over both Adventure Bay and the Channel.
After spending a little time just taking in the views, we set about figuring out the info needed for this EC. Out of respect for the penguins, we decided not to actually physically visit the GZ (closest we could get was about 40m or so away), but fortunately it didn't actually end up being necessary to go the whole way anyway. With our observations in hand, it was time to continue with our journey.
Thanks for one of the more scenic EC's we've done in a while! Definitely a great spot!

Bruny Island was the goal for this day. We passed the Neck on our way to South Bruny. Fantastic weather with great sunshine. Just a bit chilly in the wind. Impressing area. I learned some new geological things today. FP for that!

Today, it's the 9th day of my trip in Australia and in Tasmania.
A long day awaits me. I wake up early this morning at Hobart and took my car in direction of Kettering to get the Ferry to Bruny Island.
In Bruny Island, I'm hiking the Fluted Cape Track at Adventure Bay. Amazing hike to do. This views are beautiful there.
After I've gone to the Lighthouse, breathtaking views also there. And I finish by the Neck lookout, the most well known view if this island.
After that, I take back the ferry and I've gone to see the Mt Wellington. When I was driving there is some rain and it was foggy. But when I arrived at the top, I was surprised, I've been above the clouds and it was sunny . Amazing thing.
Nice view here. I have a lot of wind also.

Over from the Good Coast Qld to your Tasmania doing random geocaches that come our way on our route.
This location has to be one of the most beautifully extraordinary site for an Earthcache.
Once you have climbed the Great Wall of Bruny island the view from the top gives a massive spectacular panorama of the neck and surrounds.
A not to be missed location yo visit.
Thanks for the rundown on the area.

Once you have climbed the Great Wall of Bruny island the view from the top gives a massive spectacular panorama of the neck and surrounds.
A not to be missed location yo visit.
Thanks for the rundown on the area.
With this being probably the most iconic spot on bruny island we had to stop here, a nice view over the neck.
With the new year at hand JL Rockstar and myself decided to head down south from Launceston to Bruny Island to attend two event: A CITO and a normal event that followed.
Along the way there and back we stopped on the odd occasion to pick up some caches.
All in all a great day out to start the year and a total of 22 caches were found.
Thanks for the cache.

Bruny Island was the last night of our Tassie holiday. We visited the lookout during the morning and then later at night we came to watch the penguins. Now that o am here i can see why so many people photograph themselves up here. Thanks for the cache
A great view from here. I wasn’t sure I could make it up the stairs after yesterday’s run but actually it was a walk in the park after yesterday’s run from Dennes Point to the lighthouse. Hadn’t heard the term tombolo so I did so research. Sent answers to CO
Will spend a cupple of days on the beautiful island of Tasmania. Found this earthcache on Bruny Island, no Penguins around.
Vielen Dank fürs legen und pflegen und beste Grüße aus Leipzig!
Thanks for hiding and many greetings from Leipzig/Germany!

Knew where to go for this one, but need to do a bit of research in order to do justice to the questions. helps to bend the brain a bit eh ? TFTC Moneydork. Have sent you a message
We worked very hard for these answers as we are by no means an overly brainy family. Beautiful spot.
Found tyftc. Sent answers through. Very intriguing location. Could see lots of penguin homes in the sand.
TFTC! Just a stunning spot.
Logging having submitted answers to CO - will revisit as needed.
Great hike to the top!

Having just found the lost thumbdrive with all my photos from last year's Tasmania Trip, I am finally getting around to logging some of the earthcaches that I visited whilst over there. Better late than never... Thanks for setting up this earthcache for the rest of us to come and visit and learn from Moneydork. Fav point for teaching me something new.
Found the Cache.
Full details of our visit down under on our return.
.
I found the cache, another day, another cache or two or more, and more to my total.
.
I am currently concentrating on six types on caches, Church Micros, Village Signs, SideTracked, Village Halls, War Memorials and A Fine Pair. Sadly, there are only SideTracked caches ‘Down Under’, but I did pick up one in Sydney.
.
Mrs Dolphin and I went to visit our daughter who is spending twelve months in Tasmania. After spending four days in Hobart we then did a Whistle Stop tour of a few towns and cities in South East Australia.
.
First the records: -
• First cache in the Southern Hemisphere.
• First Cache in Australia.
• First Caches in Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.
• My highest cache ever found, highest three in fact (by far).
• Most southernly cache found
• Most Easterly ever found.
• My Oldest cache found to date.
. I did try and made it my practise to get a cache in every place we stopped. I think I picked up at least one cache at every new place we stopped even if the stop was just for ‘Tea and Cake’. Most of the caching and reporting was done on my phone. I do not like doing the finer points of caching that way and now believe I am fully ‘up to date’. Out of the forty-six caches I found ‘Down Under’ seventeen were Earthcaches. I believe I have emailed everybody the required information, but I understand that one was ‘lost’ (probably my fat fingers). If anybody contacts me, I will try to resend the information and photos I took at the caches.
.
It has taken me well over a week to complete this ‘full’ log of my caches ‘down under’. It is only now I think that I am fully over the ‘Jet Lag’. After being at work all day when I have gone home and had my tea all I have wanted to do is sleep. That is what I have been doing, going to bed without typing this log up.
.
A big thank you to the cache owners for the caches and points to everyone for the caches I found. Some of locations of these caches I do not think we would have gone to had it not been for the Caching.
.
I am also trying to get my Cache Centroid back to nearer my home location. It was only a couple mile from home, until I cached in the USA a few years back. This moved the centroid away by over thirty miles. So these caches should and will move my Centroid back towards my home location. I had thought that these caches from ‘Down Under’ would not help, but they have moved my Centroid back nearer home my four miles. It is now only thirteen miles from home.
.
Thanks for the Cache. I Took Nothing and I Left Nothing only my thanks again.
.
Sorry for the cut and paste, but I have only just got round to finishing off this log and things are beginning to merge into one.
.
I am dipping my Patch (for the mileage) in and out of the cache.

Today my friend, Runsis, & I ventured over to Bruny Island for a few hours doing a bit of sightseeing & caching...
This is such a great location...
We ran up the 232 steps to the lookout at the top which had fantastic views of the Tombolo...
Thanks for showing us this spot and for the geology lesson Moneydork

An interesting geological location and a beautiful spot to visit. Enjoyed the views from the top and took several photos from the viewing platform. Must get very busy here on the weekends this time of year as it was quite busy today mid-week. Thanks for setting up this earthcache and providing the information on the Tombolo. Answers sent. TFTC!

What an amazing view! Thanks for teaching me about this cool geological feature! TFTC
Found at 12:40 on a day-trip with my sister. We were on our way to the Bruny Island Cruise, a tour around the Southern side of the island, which was pretty thrilling given the fierce wind we had today.
A very interesting spot.

We learned so much doing this geocache. Thanks for teaching us what a Tombolo is and taking us to this great spot.
Thanks so much for all the great lessons on the area. I have enjoyed reading all about it on our drive. We will not have time to stop and answer all the questions, but I thought I would leave a note thanking you for all your research!
Isn't great when you stop somewhere and find a cache nearby. We wandered to the top, took in the views, took photos then wandered down the beach to look at the hillside to collect further information. We were happy to receive the ok to log, so another earthcache done!
Tassie Trip Day 81 - After some fun in sun and some great caching we needed to make the trip to the top of the island to finish collecting the cache that can be collected for us on this wonderful island.
This was a quick stop and what a place to do a little stroll looking at the tombolo for the information and to see this wonderful formation on both side and from the top it was a great view and a nice day for our observations.
Thanks Moneydork for showing us this wonderful place.

On our two month travelling trip through Austrialia, we are enjoying all the wonderful places and scenery. We will stop on the way to visit some nice caches as well. This one we could not reach for since the parking was closed for reconstructing the wooden walkways. A pitty!!
