Logs
I walked down the beach on a wet blustery morning to find and log this cache. Got to Cavalier Creek between squalls fortunately and had no trouble finding the cache. I didnt bother going into the hut as I knew there was a group of hunters there. Instead I wandered back up the beach to Duck Creek with the wind behind me,, looking for ambergris. No luck finding any today though. TFTC
The cache was missing so I left a replacement with the CO's permission. I spent a night in the area . It was very windy but that kept the sandflies away. The replacement is small, bagged and purple. Thanks
Day #10 of my Stewart island adventure..doing the northwest and the southern circuit.
first day on the southern sections and things not started to well..the little blue dot on my map disappeared last night and has yet to return..
Didnt even see the hut let alone look for this one I was more focused on not missing the track..and the weather hasn't improved..

Had me stumped for a while then I found it. What a beautiful part of the world. Worth a fav point for the beauty & my first cache on this side of Stewart Island. Tftc
Staying at the Kilbride homestead and doing a day walk down here along the beautiful bay. Such a wonderful place with lots to see. Nice little hunters hut well off the beach in a sheltered spot. Got cache on way in and found it ok. Thanks for the cache
Staying at the kilbride for four nights means a series of day walks and other fun. Got this one on the day we arrived after flying in and landing on the beach. A nice basic hut. The whales on the beach were interesting to look at too.
Spent a few days at Mason Bay Hut exploring the area and a trip to the Gutter was on our 'must do' list. A long walk along the beach with stunning weather. The Gutter and birdlife are well worth the detour (sad to see the couple of hundred dead whales as well).
Surprised to see so few names in the log book.

Hell of a long walk. A half marathon in fact. This took a bit longer to find and I was starting to get worried I might have to leave with a DNF. Eventually found it quite a way down completely overgrown with moss. Log bone dry. Mum again left on the beach drawing while Dad followed the DOC sign across the creek thinking that's where the hunter's hut was. We walked on to the gutter. Checked out the hut itself on the way back... crashed here for a rest/nap... very nice. Good opportunity to borrow some of their rain water too . GLB1721 TFTC (4037)
Found it with "FrenchSuperTrampNiko" on our hiking on Stewart Island.... Bonus round after Te Arora trail

Day trip from Mason Bay Hut to The Gutter at the southern end of Mason Bay enabled a find for this cache and a blank log for the FTF. Low tide let us have lunch on Earnest Island and watch three planes take off from Kilbride Homestead. TFTC
