Another poke around. Still not sighted. Lots of spraying, dead grass and brush, and mowing. Maybe its gone?
Mission is to work through these lonely caches on the KAS trail and show them some love. Its been 505days since this was last found - and unfortunately its going to be longer for this one. GPS was taking me away from the other more obvious posts and instead to the sign post, which had no camo around for protection. Had a poke around the other posts but by torchlight so I may have missed it. Will try again when Im back this way in daylight.
The current challenge for the wheel of challenges is to find 100 caches during the month of April. So today I am out with TrinityNZ and JustlookingOO to get as many smileys as possible. (All logs signed today as JLT).
Thanks for the cache, and another smiley.
Thanks for the cache, and another smiley.
Out and about with LL113 and TrinityNZ to ensure we each earned the Wheel of Challenges souvenir for finding 100 caches in April.
Finally found by TrinityNZ once she was in the right place - easily seen. Log signed as "JLT" - all nice and dry.

Out and about on this lovely ANZAC Day north of Foxton way with JustlookingOO and LL113, tracking down 100 caches this month for the 100 smileys in April challenge. The KAS trail is a great way to quickly find a lot of caches. This was our 23rd find of this series today. We first looked in the wrong place, and then tried another nearby location, and there it was. Hard to miss with the large object on the top! Log signed as JLT for JustlookingOO, LL113 and TrinityNZ. Thanks to the cache owners for placing these caches.
Today’s mission is to try and push ourselves over one hundred caches for the month, and fifty for the day. Targeting the KAS trail (plus whatever others we need depending on how many we find). In the end we managed 50 finds and 10 DNF’s - hard work!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Out on a very long out-of-the way journey to drop Junior back home. We decided to finish this series, started over a year ago, or has it been 2? Anyway, log soon in hand . Container is missing a lid, so you might want to rectify before the rain gets in.
Awesome night out with nanny amba zenla. Signed most logs with anzs. Thank you for the cache.. couldnt sign as to loaded with bugs.
Full of bugs wet and spider lifted. Didn't sign. No lid. Scott took pic. ANZS team
Scary and tin has no lid and bug explosion. Thank you for the cache unsigned. Photo from scotty.
Today started out innocently enough, I was to make my way from Wanganui back home to Wellington. Because it's a long weekend I was in less of a rush than usual as we had another day off tomorrow (Labour Day) so I decided to find a few geocaches along the way, and then a few more, and a few more, and before the day was out I had logged 60 of them (that's a pretty good day for me). This was one of the geocaches that I found:
A big part of my numbers today was doing this KAS power trail series. Cache was found as described without any trouble, except the container is missing its lid.
Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this geocache.
I enjoy every cache I find, and it is only with CO's placing them that this wonderful game continues.

Found it!
I know it was fake but it still gave me a fright…so did all of the slaters that fell out when I pulled the log out
Log was a bit soggy but looked like waterproof paper so still writable
We were in PN this afternoon running some errands, I’ve been wanting to hit some of these power trails after doing the one along the Weta Motel road.
Lots of houses along this road and lots of homeowners watching on as we stopped very few hundred metres!

Lid missing and might have upset the resident slaters but waterproof log all good. Many thanks
Looking for 50 finds today for a challenge.
Looks like a good series to do it before it gets too hot.

Our second-to-last find of the day - thanks for the series kaŝmemoro! It has definitely given me a lot of exercise, my feet too sore to even go with GAR for a walk with the dog at the beach where we are staying tonight which I am gutted about.
We have wanted to do this trail for sooooooo long, but life got in the way. These are the last block to do before heading home for a well-earned rest. Thanks for the series KAS.
We did this area about a month in order to achieve the 72 cache finds in 24hrs. An achievement coin thats still out there in Geoshop land if you hunt hard enough! We were staying in Palmie for a couple of nights, so it seemed only logical to try and give it ago- we started late, and with 4 kiddos 12yrs and under, we thought- this is not going to be possible! But, despite a few DNF's at the beginning -and the negative vibe that gave us, we were determined to do it. 11.20am start, and we completed 65 of them by 5.30 at night- with a small lunch break on the side of the road and a few arguments in the car with restless kiddies- but a good haul! The last 7 were easily achieved the next morning on a morning walk along the Palmerston north River. 72 caches in 24hrs- whoop whoop.
Headed out for an afternoon/evening of caching. Started off in the light but by the end it was dark. The full moon was beautiful but not particularly helpful but with a good torch many of these caches were still able to be found. Having said that I had 10 DNF most of which have not been found this year. Many of the logs had replacement logs with the old damp log stuffed to the bottom. A bit of TLC would not go amiss! Thanks for the series.
So I have a week off between jobs and so I have decided to get a return rental from Christchurch to Auckland and spend 7 days travelling and getting all of the Geotour caches via a Gisbourne. Also tried to get a few extra cool caches on the way. I would say that trip was not for the fainthearted and as a solo driver it was tough especially with all of the roadworks and detours in place. I was glad to have visited these locations but if I was to travel this route again I would take at least 2 weeks to really absorb some of the local landscapes more.
Day 3; Now at the lower North Island and having not realized it was Wellington Anniv day, the 'quiet' parks were not so quiet. I needed to get off the SH to get away from the traffic and this series of cache I thought would be great. But I ended up with lots of DNFs and on this only find I was covered in spider webs and had to work out the logbook between spider eggs and a very unhappy mummy spider. The lid was rusted off. Decided to abandon this series to go find some other caches.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 22 to 25 October 2021 (delayed due to Covid-19) . It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
20 years of geocaching worldwide.
20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of this event - you won't want to miss it!

on a mission 50 caches in one day, getting to 1000 caches and getting to the oldest cache in NZ, cache 996, cache number 29 of trip. nice park and grab,, , TFTC.
This is day eight of a ten day trip down to Dunedin and back to move my daughter there so she can get her master’s degree at Otago University. I took the early Bluebird ferry over to Wellington this morning and headed up the coast stopping for a cache every 10kms.
I saw this series on my way back from the WENZ 2018 Mega last year and thought I have to do these one day.
After checking into the holiday park at Himatangi, the rain stopped long enough for me to get started with the series. TFTC.

Today was a numbers run for us. Lots of caches to choose from in this area so we did all but 2 of the KAS series, the mint tin series and some railway ones. 98 caches found in total and 2 DNF's something tells me we are going to have to go out again to find 2 more today. Many thanks to all the CO's of the caches we visited today, hugely appreciated and certainly love the quiet roads after Auckland.
Day #1 of our four day caching trip to Palmerston North. As it's the first time back in several years, there are heaps of new caches to find
After attending this mornings event, and checking into our accommodation, we decided to head out west to the cache dense area of various trails. This afternoon it was all about the numbers. TFTC.

#16343. We've now found about half the caches on the first leg of our KAS cruise. TFTC.
My second to last day on the north island and rain was coming so I decided to hit the trail to see if I could get a quick 50 or so. Loved the series, a few had full or wet logs, I had stash of presigned replacement logs in my pocket so replaced as necessary. Thanks for the trail kaŝmemoro

One of 65 caches located in this neck of the woods today, a personal best which is never likely to be repeated! Biked along these roads from mid-morning to late afternoon, making a real day of it. Thanks to the cache owners for putting all these hides in place.
This one was a straightforward find. #1984. TFTC.

• mr and mrs are on a post 2018 WENZ Mega road trip, before going home
Today we’re in Manawatu and Horowhenua area, with some time dedicated to the KAS Series
Found caches have typically been signed MM78, although a few have been stamped mrandmrschosen1978.
Apologies for generic logs but with so many... condition of caches varied with good dry logs to wet/damp logs, we added some rite’n’rain slips to some as required
Thanks for this series, we appreciate the time and effort made in creating this series •

Up for the Mega for the week, headed up the coast for a couple of days on family stuff, but did get few caches in for the day. many thanks to the cache placer's - Bitsprayer
It’s Day 1 of our 2018 WENZ MEGA crusade and Team BOP are well represented by McJandals, NZFlossy, TNXPro, Davidson Clan, FapAndGap & Squirrel nutcase and myself.
We have a huge hit list for this 5 day affair so it's gonna be a little manic. We’ve signed our logs either individually or as ‘Team BOP’ depending on log space, size or condition. A special thanks to all the CO’s and those who have helped keep these caches in good order.
Cache found quickly thanks to accurate co-ords and a straight forward placement. A neat series and theme but most of the log sheets need replacing and are good examples of my we should be using waterproof paper. TFTC.

With my intended route planned I’ve taken a day off work to grab as many as possible of the KAS animal trail before the weather breaks tomorrow. This is the only power trail I ever intend doing - just for the numbers - 100 caches needed for the Hidden Creatures souvenir hunt in just a month. Thanks for placing these.
This was was also mis-named, KAS Spider Pole would be more accurate.
This was the thirtieth cache I’ve found today, thereby earning me the Troll Hidden Creatures souvenir. This is also the first time I’ve found more than 29 geocaches in one day (done that three times) thereby scoring a BadgeGem rating for The Busy Cacher. Sure am today, doing this solo.

Sooo... it was 4 o clock in the morning, and I decided to get up and go for a drive to collect as many caches as possible before breakfast? Why? Cause I was down for work, and that was when I had to meet up with everyone.
Started at the southern end, so I could feel like I was working my way back to Palmy and my morning Hot Chocolate. Wondered what to sign here... old or new... hmmm.

A quick easy find of another little creature. We found both the old lidless container and a newer replacement. TFTC
My son and I have been trying to get around to doing the KAS trail for quite some time now, ever since we finished getting through the nearby Chewy Mint trail.
The Planetary Pursuits event currently running, and an available free day with my son over the Easter weekend, seemed like the perfect excuse to finally hit it!
So I planned a route that also took into account some other nearby caches, such as this one, making a grand total of 84 caches to be attempted today, curious to know if we could absolutely blast our previous record (40) for the number of finds for a day. As it turned out, we had just 5 DNF's, so it was a tremendous result that propelled us almost all the way to Pluto in 1 day! I now have a very tired, but happy lad.
I apologise for the generic 'cut n paste' style of my log, but with 79 to do tonight I figured it was the only way.
This was a straightforward find, although we were initially confused to find 2 cache containers at GZ. However, everything became clear when we realised that the original container has been badly compromised, so some kind cacher has provided a clean container and logsheet.
The log was signed as "T & T" to cover myself and my lad ThatWeirdGuy04.
Having just had my first placement muggled a couple of weeks ago, I am very much in appreciation of all CO's who place and maintain caches for the rest of us to find.

It is a gorgeous saturday afternoon so while i was returning from the Levin fun day and CITO event, I thought I would log a few more of these KAS trail caches.
Two containers here. I choose the newer of the two, since the log sheet in it was intact.

Apologies for the generic log — Team B&D are up from Wellington to do the 142 caches in 24 hours challenge. TFTC and a great set of power trails up here! p.s. 2 containers at GZ.
In Palmerston North for the weekend with some caching buddies- Uncle Sam, NZTravellers, Stik-a-crane. The goal was to find as many of the local caches that we could in the space of a day. We managed to find 206, I think, in the space of 14 hours, with a few bathroom/ coffee breaks and a couple of meal breaks. We all had a blast jumping in and out of the car, racing each other to the caches, and laughing and joking along the way, and in general had an awesome weekend down here.
We really enjoyed this trail, and I particularly thought the guardians of the cache containers were pretty cool!
Apologies for the generic logs.... with over 200 caches found in one day, it was virtually impossible to remember each individual cache!
Log signed as Team SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) in order to save log space.

Our team from Auckland wanted to do a major day of caching, so headed down to Foxton area for a massive day. We got about 205.
Very sorry for the generic logs, but when doing so many in one day very hard to make notes on each.
But a big thank you to all the cache owners for putting out all of the great caches we visited.

Heading towards the Mega. Thought it would be impolite not to grab a few on the way through. Thanks all for the hides.
Sanson Day2.
Today we headed out to finish the KAZ trail. This was liking a tiki tour of the area around the farming country side.
The long grass made some of the caching today quiet difficult. I liked how the title included a hint.

We had such a fun day yesterday so we decided to come back today and finish off this trail. TFTC
With the exeption of "Route 66" in the North of Auckland I didn't visit any powertrail on my four week trip on beautyfull North Island because NZ is such a lovely Country with also so lovely People. No time for power trails at all. But this one is very, very good in shape and so I couldn't resist to visit a part of it. So I found 31 of the Caches before I moved on northward again.
Thanks a lot for the Caches and I hope I'll be back one day to get the others, too.

I was in Palmy North on business and decided to stay an extra day and spend time driving the KAS trail Nicely put together with the added bonus that its all on a sealed road.. and with plenty of parking. Just great. The weather co-operated with sunny skies and a nice breeze. Thanks for the trail.
