Not such a crash hot day to cache but decided to anyway. All caches in OK condition, some a little wet but no problems...thanks for setting these up...TFTC

Stopped by to check on these caches and found a lot more have been taken.

We have replaced some of these caches up to three times previously and it is really disappointing as it would seem this series is being deliberately targeted. It's a shame as this only ruins the enjoyment for others. Due to the continued on going missing containers we have made the decision to not replace these missing caches.

Decided to go on an afternoon of caching with Helbaby7 and my children. Had a lot of fun Helbaby navigated, I drove and the kids found the caches and brought them back to the car.
Really enjoyed it and will finish the trail when time permits. my daughter loved the cool cache containers it really make her day thank you for such awesome caches it really does make it more fun to find something different.

I was in Palmy North on business and decided to stay an extra day and spend time driving the KAS trail Nicely put together with the added bonus that its all on a sealed road.. and with plenty of parking. Just great. The weather co-operated with sunny skies and a nice breeze. Thanks for the trail.

I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.

Today I joined forces with yorkshirekiwi83 for a full day of caching before an event in the city tonight. We picked up a few caches around the city first, then drove down towards Opiki collecting caches down some of the side roads as we went, then headed across to do the KAS Power Trail, before going up to do the caches around Ohakea then headed back to Palmerston North.

At this point we worked our way through the KAS Power Trail Series - a series that YK83 started last year, but which came an abrupt end for her. Today we had no such problems and had an enjoyable time finding all of the caches on the trail - the vast majority were nice easy finds, we only had notable issues with 3 caches (which I will go into more detail about on the relevant cache logs.) Thanks for the obvious time that has been spent putting these neat containers together and for placing this trail!

Vistra and I headed down to Manawatu as the KAS trail has been bugging me in its incomplete form, as we both needed numbers for personal goals it seemed like a good opportunity. Thanks to the cache owners for all the caches and the variety, over 2 days I found over 200 caches, so thank you for placing and maintaining them.

Most were quick easy finds, although there were some very clever ones and some well thought out. Nicely hidden and a nice change. TFTC

Coming from Palmy in the morning with StefTheVet we wanted to follow the Kaštrail again for a second time. Today we found 23 caches there, all easy to find and in best order. We liked very much all those little guardians, what a lovely idea! As we didn't have too much time we couldn't complete the series but would like to come back on another day. Thanks so much for this Kaštrail, for showing us the country roads and the landscape - and we had lots of fun! That's worth a favourite point which we put on to the cache we liked most of all today, the cabbaged lizard!
This one was the 10th for today, a really cute one, quickly found and in good order- TFTC! And here's the Fav Point [:-)]

Since I was back in the region for a couple of weeks I decided a big day caching was on order. Calls were made and plans were put in place and Jesso22, Stardust 718 and I set off in my new 4WD to collect a heap of caches. The first cache was collect at 7am and last one just before 7pm. The final numbers came to just of 150 so a productive day was had.

For months we had been planning a 100+ day but the timing had just never worked out for us. Now with Christmas and all of our summer activities behind us and AtomsNZ back in town it was the perfect time! AtomsNZ arrived at my house at 6.45am with Stardust718 in tow and off we went on our mission. The day was quite successful, started with a few solved puzzles then on to the KAS trail and the mint tin trails before squeezing in as many caches around Foxton, Levin and Shannon that all three of us hadn't previously found. Final total was just over 150 (just to be on the safe side in case we made a counting error). Most caches signed as AJS (or JAS depending on who signed it) to save room in the logs as some were quite full. Thanks to all of the COs it was a great day with many great finds.

# 967: I joined forces with AtomsNZ and Jesso22 for a 14 hour caching day. Found at 10:03:00 a.m. The main goal was the KAS trail and however many more nearby caches we could find. Our total came out at just over 150 for the day so we were all pretty happy with that. Thanks to the many CO's that made this day possible. We had a great time travelling lots of back roads.

Loved the various bugs on the containers. I'm not usually one to like creepy crawlies but thesse were cool and made for a more interesting power trail.

Logged signed as AJS (our team name for the day) as many log sheets were very small/or nearly full. we added new log sheets were possible.

This one took a while to locate though, even with all 3 of us looking.

#1716 As i was picked up just after 4am to head to the Manawatu I realised this was not going to be a dot day. This was an attempt to get 270 caches in one day. There are a couple of great circuits in the Manawatu that will help work toward this goal so thanks to the CO's that have placed them for our enjoyment.

Thanks also to my partner in geo crime and driver for the day Yetrees. Without an able driver an attempt such as this would be impracticable so thanks for enabling it.

It is forecast to be a long day geocaching, hoping to make the 270 target. To be honest I'd be pretty happy with 200, however why not go for the Emerald badge (see project-gc.com)

#1796 Waiter, Waiter there's a lizard in my cabbage. Shh, they will all want one... Well I have been planning on having a trip to the Manawatu for some time to pick up the powertrails. With the run of great weather we have been having I booked a motel for two nights at Foxton and planned for Friday 12 February to be my "Manawatu Big Day Out". I had prepared an Excel sheet with 170 caches listed on it in a logical driving order going from Foxton through the various trails and over to Palmie and SE to Shannon and back across to Foxton. My first goal was to get enough finds to crack the 142 in 24 hr challenge, then get over the 150 barrier, and all going well see if I could exceed my current largest day of 57 caches by an extra 100 caches. Well the day dawned fine and I was on the road and at my first cache by 6.40am. I unlocked the motel door at 11pm with 158 caches under my belt. Not bad for a solo performance driving a car and trying to keep half an eye on the GPS and other half on the road. Got muggled by farmers twice and pulled over by the police twice (that's another story - read the relevant logs). The KAS power trail took 6 hrs and 20 mins to find 103 caches and DNF on 6 of them. That averages out at 3 and half minutes per successful cache. I had 120 finds by 3.40pm and the last 38 took 6 hours and 20 minutes as I headed into more dispersed and trickier to find caches. The power trails are a bit of an endurance test, especially in the heat of a summers day. Not helped by NZ cricket team losing wickets faster than I could find caches. Take plenty of water and food with you. I stopped just once for an ice cream and a pie on outskirts of Palmie. Some caches were memorable. Others just made up the numbers. My second visit to this power trail. It was a very pleasant day to complete the task. Together with Nomadic Snow and team geocacher Mr. T as driver, we managed to complete what we set out to do. All logs were dated and signed NS & FD. Thanks for keeping this trail going.

Every since this power trail came out, a plan was hatched to use it as part of an epic caching day, going for record numbers. Originally it was a 150 cache day, but as the trail grew, & many smaller trails & caches started to pop up in the Hawkes Bay, the target soon began to look like an achievable 200. Finally we decided today was the day to have a crack at that target.
All in all this was a pretty well set up, fast & straight forward trail. Our only concern would be that the odd cache was a little too close to people's houses which was clearly attracting attention from the locals. We were pursued down the road by one local, & sworn at by another. Probably our fault for doing part of this trail in the dark. We would definitely recommend doing it in daylight hours.

6 to get CANZ at halcombe and a Nigth Cache at foxton

Cache # 2,924 - part of a massive 13-hour day, doing a blitz around Palmerston North wider area with team WITT (Wandering Dragons, Infoferret, Taybee and TaybeeNZ), ultimately resulting in 160 caches for me. The KAS trail was the heart of this effort, and it took us 4.75 hours to go around it. Because of the sun and the heat, we had to break halfway through and stop by a nearby township for some ice creams and cold drinks. Fantastic effort to set all of this up, and a great power trail. TNLNSL. My favourite on the whole trail, so will give it (and the trail) a favourite point here. TFTC!

Quick find. Love the cache container

Due to rough weather and outrageous airline prices, we had not been able to get across to the South Island for our planned Marlborough Sounds adventure. So what better thing to do while wending our way back north than a spot of caching. This afternoon turned into an epic day of caching on this trail, with our last puzzle cache 'pick up' coinciding with the last ray of sun setting in the west. It was beautiful end to the day but well and truly past time to get to Hamilton for a rest stop en route to Ruakaka and Waipoua later in the week.
We did not miss getting a smiley face on any of the caches this series and were particularly impressed with the way the caches were in good order, clearly well maintained. Loved the palm trees and animals associated with each cache and helping with the name.
Apologies for the copy and paste, but with 114 caches found in this series plus 5 puzzle caches picked up, this has also been a marathon effort to log. TFTC to kasmemoro for the KAS series.

[green] Out with Etherlord to wipe out the KAS series in one day. Started at 6:45, and finished about 6 hours later. But in that time we also did the mint tin trail and the stopped off in Foxton for more fuel, doing a few railway caches along the way. We swapped driving/finding duties every corner. I fully expected this to be a nothing special trail, but the critters turned out to be a nice touch. Enjoyed seeing what was attached to each cache! Log signed as ECATS - Etherlord Clan and the Seagnoid.\
Etherlord really likes this one, I suspect a Fav will be forthcoming...

As mentioned by the Seagnoid, I enjoyed this cache because it was the opposite of what we had seen so far. Instead of the attachment on the cache, the cache was in the attachment!
In an abstract way, it reminds reminds me of an A-10 which is not a plane with a gatling gun in it, but rather a gatling gun with a plane *around* it


What an epic day for me!
It started with attending a 6am flash mob event, which gave us a great early start to complete the KAS trail (114 caches), the Mint Tin trail (10 caches), and 10 other ManRail/random caches along the way, for a total of 135 finds before lunch.

In just 6 hours, I found more caches than all of 2015 (123), all of 2014 (132), one more than my previous Best Month (134), and more than doubled my previous Best Day (55).

I'm staying 4 nights at Paraparaumu and collecting caches here and there including this KAS power trail today near Palmerston. I don't intend to do the whole trail today, my good mate lives in Palmerston and we haven't caught up for awhile now so a visit will be in order.

In Germany I saw this good looking Power Trail and really wanted to do it. So on our way back from Wellington it was a good chance to stop here. We started at 10:30 a.m. and it took us 5 hours to find all but four. These were missing or it took to long to search. It was big fun, at first the weather was perfect almost too hot and later a bit rain but no problem for us. At first I thought there are no hints but then I saw the names of the caches, very funny! Most caches were in good condition and I really liked the bugs and other things covering the containers, really nice. Thank you for placing this nice trail! Best wishes from Germany!

I decided to go out on a big day of crazy caching and see how many I can find singlehandedly! I packed some food, plenty of water, gps, spare pens. I had a quick look in the morning and decided on a general direction with plenty of caches and some cool challenges on the way. The weather was great, even too warm at times, with considerable wind. I started after sunrise and went on until sunset, by which time I was rather exhausted - but happy... I kind of ended up somewhere where I was not quite planning to end up, but no problem! I found 124 caches in total - my biggest day going on a lone caching mission. Thank you to all the awesome CO's for placing the caches!!!

10.49am. Took just over 7 hours 30 minutes to go right round. Found all but four. Great trail.

Another successful day geocaching doing the KAS geotrail with JonoS.
These trails have a lot going for them. Straightforward caches with accurate coordinates and easy finds. The ditches are dry and mostly the terrain doesn't involve clambering. The spring growth has resulted in long grass , sometimes at nearly shoulder height.
Some of the logs are damp and full or nearly full. We replaced some but maybe the CO could suggest that people carry spare logs as there are so many caches to service. We had a great day.

The Turtle strikes again!

We have been looking at this power trail for a while. Labour weekend was our first chance to head down from Auckland to visit family in the area & spend a day completing these caches, with Purply & Darthcacher1. Definitely enjoyed the trail. Would have loved to convert all to smilies but one DNF along the way prevented this. Enjoyed a well earned icecream in Rongotea afterwards. Thanks to the team who put this trail together.

Today we caved in and decided to do the power trail.
overcast day, but rain held off till we were on way home.
most caches co ords dead on, 3 dnfs , and 1 we choose not to do as farmer was herding cows by it, and did not want to disturb them. one cache had no lid, so put the bison i wear around neck inside tube, to help keep it dry.
After completing about half of trail, it was time to eat, used google maps to locate somewhere in foxton but ended up in levin, so we picked up a cache or two during that time.
my boy really got into this as the finds where easy, and themed.
most of the bugs etc are present, couple missing it seems, and most logs usable, but some are getting aged, and will be full after a few more people get through the trail.
I will be CnP through out trail, bar the dnfs

It was time now to try and complete this whole series today. Well done on laying it out. As previously mentioned some of the logs are getting full, most are very tatty due to the constant folding and unfolding of the paper logs, some are wet.

Done the entire powertrail today with LCBuilder! Most of the caches were quick easy finds. Most in good enough condition, a few logs were getting quite raggy and falling apart though but only a couple were wet. We added a few logs and a couple bags here and there where needed. Thanks for all the caches!

We are on a mission this week to fulfill the requirements of the International A Licence Challenge. We need to find 150 caches in a week and another 100 caches that are 250 km from home. The KAS series is perfect to give us a head start on both of these requirements.
We thought we were in for a stormy day, but the weather was kind to us, with no more than light drizzle occasionally. The locals must have thought it odd to see a campervan parking every few hundred meters along these country roads. After a few hours a woman pulled up in her car to ask what we were doing. Before we could explain she asked if it was "that GPS thing", and seemed perfectly happy when we said yes. We enjoyed the drive around the countryside collecting this KAS series, and only had a DNF on one. The lttle plastic creatures on the caches added interest and variety, and the numbers stacked up pretty fast. Many thanks for this series of caches.
All in all a very successful day, and we managed to set a new personal record of 150 finds in one day.

With an unexpected week off work, it was time for a geocaching roadtrip. I called Bchefj&p and they were also available for a mid week trip. We left Hastings at 6am and departed for the Palmy area with the main mission for today being the KAS Power Trail, and any others that we might be able to grab while we had day light. I ended the day having found 168 caches and DNFed on only 2. Thanks to all the CO's for their placements.
#56 find for the day and this would be my favourite for this entire series. Had a good laugh when I saw this container and well deserved for another fav point. This one will get many points I'm sure.

Well another mission down the line in what HKCB and I were expecting to be another large caching weekend where numbers were the target, Sleep was for the weak, OCD=commitment , and petrol was a must. We left home at 6pm and headed straight down here to start what was going to be a long couple of days, so with much planning (compliments of HKCB) and a good supply of nourishing caching supplies in the back.
With a total of 1250 kms [^] (just a short drive) and 5 hours of sleep we were definitely going to earn our rest by Sunday evening when we got home. Oh, we even managed to attend an event along the way and meet fellow cachers from the area while in Wanganui.

This was the second for the day, the eighteenth for the weekend so what better way to start than with a nice lilttle trail to begin with. Thanks to all the cachers that put this together and working to keep it maintained. We managed to finish the trail over a total of three hours in the dark

A mission was needed to complete one of the last few licence challenges on Rangitoto Island, so a passing comment to C&D at an event and this mission was soon planned. We nearly achieved what we set out to accomplish, with only 1 more cache to find to complete the challenge but that was due to miss-reading the fine print on the challenge page.

So with the mission lasting 48 hours we amassed a great set of numbers, 317 caches found, just over 1200km travelled, about 7 hours of sleep, C&D finding his 180th earthcache, completing the KAS powertrail in under 3 hours and finding numerous amazing geocaches. A lot of fun was had along the way, and some great memories were created. A big thanks to everyone for placing all the caches along the way, this mission wouldn't have been as much fun if they weren't there!

A nicely set out trail which made it all very straight forward. I think we managed to located all but 3 in just under 3 hours, with only a couple of the finds taking longer than the first minute to locate. Starting it just before midnight did help matters as parking wasn't a problem at all. A big thanks to everyone who was involved in setting up this great trail.

Decided to finally go out and do part of the Power Trail, went at a leisurely pace getting a total of 21 caches. Accidentally drove past a few so we'll have to go back to get them. TFTC

#6747. The KAS Power Trail Series was our main geocaching objective for today. A nice route over flat country in rural Manawatu on a fine Saturday. We started in Rongotea, heading south on Banks Road, then turned east on Kaimatarau Road to Sansons Road. From here we turned back west on Kaimatarau Road, then south on Kellow Road, then east on Milner Road, then north on Sansons Road to complete the first loop. U-turned back on Sansons Road to head south to Couper Road, then east on Taikorea Road, then south on Pyke Road. U-turned back to turn east on Taikorea Road to Main Drain Road. U-turned back to head west on Taikorea Road, then south on Kellow Road to Rangiotu Road. The final leg was to u-turn north on Kellow Road back to the junction with Milner Road. Of the 114 caches published so far, we were able to find 113 of them today. The one DNF meant we would have to return some other day, by which time there might be more KAS caches placed for this great power trail.

Cabbaged Lizard on Kaimatarau Road was found after a short search. Very nice hide. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. (#20 of 144 @ 10:14)

I spent a relaxing afternoon making my way around the Trail at a leisurely pace. It was good to be out and about enjoying the countryside and todays almost spring like weather. Cheers and TFTC

Out and about in the Manawatu today with the KAS trail beckoning. I made a very good start on the series after attending the nearby Winter Warmer event, so I was well fueled up on a hearty breakfast and essential caffeine boost. A lovely sunny warm(ish) winter 's day and a fun series of finds.

12.58pm - Ben asked me to quote on some potential business in the Waiouru area, the Squirrel rang me and told me what his plans were so I thought I could combine these two together and met him for a raid on the Manawatu area. What's a few extra kilometres of driving and it's great to have a good boss (Mrs Fap) who said I could disappear for a few days. Arrived late Wednesday night, up early the next morning, hadn't planned anything so followed Squirrel's directions. Boy is there are load of caches in this area. Armed with the Squirrels list off we went, target today 100+ caches.....and see how we go, and Oh what a day so I'm going to have to copy & paste this lot for our logs. SLTFTC

My younger brother had a four-day table tennis tournament in Palmerston North. Rather than sit around and watch paint dry, I decided to take a caching tour of the Manawatu... Joined by Gap (of Fap and Gap).

And onto the KAS trail... Pardon my 'cut and paste' logs, but this is a summary of the entire series:

Each cache was a quick find, thanks to great coordinates. In many cases, we were able to pull alongside and know instinctively where the cache would be. Most containers were standard, so that helped to speed up the process... And we liked the little plastic accessories. We found a lot of marginal logbooks that will need replacing soon as they begin to disintegrate... Not helped when cachers don't seal the bags properly or stuff bags into the bottom of the container... What's up with that? In the end, we found 101/103 caches over two days... A great little tour of an area we would never have visited otherwise... TFTC and the series.

As an side note... the farmers are beginning to take notice... We were questioned twice by concerned locals about our intentions... The number of concerned passersby; people interested in our general welfare, was quite heartening... People still care in this country.

Number 49 of 111 caches for us today breaking all sorts of records for us! Before arriving in NZ we had already seen this as a must do series of caches. Wow, thanks to the cache owner for placing this awesome geotrail.

Completed all caches along this trail bar two of them that we couldn't find. Some were interesting but most were "just another cache". Really loved the fact that the creators spent some time making them nice and the naming convention really helped. Completed the entire trail in just on 2.5 hours with Buttels. Thanks for placing the trail. Was aiming at 150 for the day but ended up with167 by the time we reached Hastings

Stopped by a local farmer while here and when i explained it was a treasure hunt etc he siad he'd noticed the odd peolpe stopping around here, so his mind was laid to rest:) As I travel through to Levin each week to day i had the time and i was hoping the weather would be kind enough and i could go hunting for another 50 of these little animalshiding in various places along these country roads. There are some unusal coloured animals to be seen like red frogs etc. ! I set out at 8.00am giving me plenty of time to arrive in Levin at about 1.00pm. Today i travelled the other roads i had not been along before as well as going over some roads i had been along. This proved useful as i found two caches along here i hadn't found earlier like the shelter one which is the trickiest of them all but yet not exactly hard. There was quite a strong cold wind so i was glad of my woolly beanie and coat, but no rain. Once again tahnk you very much for putting this series together as Manawatu didn't have a long- run series and i i often had thought and hoped i would get to do the long run out towards Ashburton- called Thompsons Track.

Didn't take long to find - TFTC !

Out with Yeetrees and Taybee for a day of caching in the Manawatu. Managed to work our way around the entire KAS trail in around 3.5 hours, averaging approx 25 finds/hour or about a find every 2.5 minutes. All 103 caches in the current trail found without any DNF's. The themeing of caches with bugs and other items is a neat idea.
Apologies for the copy and paste but with over 100 caches all relatively similar, its had for any to stand out – although some did.
Thanks to the cachers that have created this trail, we appreciated the effort that has gone into making this trail, and for the maintenance that will come to keep it going.

As I venture further afield to grab some caches I saw the KAS Trail and thought I should give that a crack on a windy Saturday. Spent about 6 hours in the area and I think I ended up with 100 caches which is my biggest day caching. Was pretty windy but at least the rain stayed away for the time I was out and about.

All caches, 'cept one were in good order. Apologies for the repetition but for this many caches in a day that will be the way of these logs.

Spudnz,Tommygun9 and I headed out for another Wednesday arvo mission. We managed to complete the power trail in just under four hours. The weather held out for us luckily with the rain coming down just at the end of the trail. A few of the caches proved tricky but with the three of us combined managed to get the majority of them pretty quick! Cheers for the power trail!!!... my first one. Managed to crack over 1 hundred finds in a day and I got past the 5 hundy cache total with this trip.

Tommygun9, Hunterhillson and I set off on another Wednesday mission. This time it was to complete the recent power trail just South of Rongotea. This would also make Wednesday’s my most common caching day by far! The convoy left work at midday and we grabbed a challenge cache on the way before meeting in Rongotea. We piled into one car and left for our epic journey. Our first cache was at the North Eastern corner and we headed South in a kind of clockwise direction. We figured there was no logical way to complete this power trail, but this way made most sense to us. We found all the caches easily with only a few taking longer than the rest. All up, from Rongotea and back again, it took us four hours to find the 103 caches.

As this cache had by far the most FPs I was intrigued to see it. I wondered why SpudNZ hadn't seen it straight away but it had been a few degrees clockwise from where he started his anti-clockwise search.
FP from me for this hide as it almost seems like a culmination hide of the others - it was also appropriately towards the end of today's mission.

Full mission description:
Hunterhillson, SpudNZ and I headed out for a Wednesday afternoon mission to the nearby power trail. We managed 104 caches total with the 103 of this trail completed in four hours (from Rongotea back to Rongotea). It happened to be a dot day for me and this many micros will bump me up to the gold micro badge. I also dropped off two trackables along the way.
Our route seemed to work very well and there were only about three or four places where parking was not great. Starting from 'KAS Warning Beetle' we headed south down Sanson Road, then Couper Road, then we cached south-east along Pyke Road before starting west along Taikorea Road. We then drove to the south end of Kellow Road and cached north to Milner Road - here we drove to Glen Oroua and cached west, finally it was north up Kellow Road and east along Kaimatarau Road.

TregearP and I took advantage of Queen's Birthday to complete the KAS Power Trail. We found all but one of the caches on the trail and had a blast. Two farmers came out of driveways in cars, followed us down the road and then questioned what we were up to as they have been wondering at the numbers of cars and strange activities. In both cases they were interested and in one case was thrilled as she deduced that she will have her first three finds after getting home and getting her daughter to set her up a profile.

This was our favourite of the trail - and marked accordingly.

Out for a day of binge caching in the company of -gonefishing- with the primary focus being the KAS power trail then meeting the criteria for the 142 in 24 hours challenge. After escaping the showers in Wellington the day turned out beautiful and was perfect for the task in hand. Thanks to all the cache owners who provided a great variety of entertainment along the way.
