Finally logging these. Out caches with Kelly0 targeting Kas trail lizzard again yahhh
Today’s mission is to try and push ourselves over one hundred caches for the month, and fifty for the day. Targeting the KAS trail (plus whatever others we need depending on how many we find). In the end we managed 50 finds and 10 DNF’s - hard work!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Today TrinityNZ, Just_looking00, and I gathered in Foxton early in the morning to launch an assault on the Chewy Mint trail, the KAS trail, and assorted others that we happened across. Our aim for the day was 30 (absolute minimum), preferably 50. Our total for the day was 53, so more than satisfactory. We signed all logs as JMT. Most of the caches were easily found, some were a little rusty, some had wet logs. Where we could, we replaced any dodgy logs.
Another very quick find and sign. Tftc!

I’m out and about on this fine Easter Sunday with JustLookingOO and matagouri. We are heading north of Foxton to work towards some challenges, including 100 finds in April and 50 finds today.
Found behind the likely suspect. Log signed as JMT. Thanks to the COs who placed these original KAS caches.

Chasing volume of caches found in a day with TrinityNZ and matagouri - this series perfect for that. Team name "JMT" was used in log.

Down here for the weekend exploring the area. Today we attempted as much as we could of this series. Thanks to the CO for this series.
On a mission today to help Signal escape the labyrinth before time runs out. Headed out with Nannybarb100 targeting the KAS powertrail series. We were mostly successful, 12 finds and 6 DNF's before the kids had had enough and we headed back home. More than enough for me to escape the maze, I'm not sure how nanny got on. Most logs were damp but thanks to write in the rain paper we were able to sign. Many logs were full, despite not seeming to be found too often. Love the little figures, a clever idea. Thank you to all who contributed to this trail.
Very happy to find these caches lizards are my favourite. This power trail really needs a maintenance run. Tftc
Edited to add: Find number 400 woohoo.

Today started out innocently enough, I was to make my way from Wanganui back home to Wellington. Because it's a long weekend I was in less of a rush than usual as we had another day off tomorrow (Labour Day) so I decided to find a few geocaches along the way, and then a few more, and a few more, and before the day was out I had logged 60 of them (that's a pretty good day for me). This was one of the geocaches that I found:
A big part of my numbers today was doing this KAS power trail series. All good here, cache was found as described without any trouble.
Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this geocache.
I enjoy every cache I find, and it is only with CO's placing them that this wonderful game continues.

Today I found about 20 caches done and couldn’t find one, I was very surprised most of these haven’t been found for nearly a year!
Log was Surprisingly dry
I wrote in the log and concealed it carefully back as found,
TFTCSL Thanks kaŝmemoro for this Traditional cache!

Looking for 50 finds today for a challenge.
Looks like a good series to do it before it gets too hot.
This is number 34.

Junior and I are learning these back roads on a beautiful afternoon drive. Not many muggles around. Thank you for this series.
Another quick find at GZ. So far, not a large amount of traffic so mainly walking on the road between caches. Thanks for the series kaŝmemoro!
Heading down to Foxton Beach for a couple of days and had spare time to cache. Have wanted to return and complete more of this series. Parked up the camper van and got the bike out. Not sure it was sure a good idea as it was blowing a gale. Still it was great on the cycle back when the wind was behind me. Got another 12 of the series with 1 DNF. All but one were dry and no problems signing the log. Nice to change this sad face into a smiley. Thanks.
Went all over...even PAF'd a friend, but just could not lay hands on it. curses!
We did this area about a month in order to achieve the 72 cache finds in 24hrs. An achievement coin thats still out there in Geoshop land if you hunt hard enough! We were staying in Palmie for a couple of nights, so it seemed only logical to try and give it ago- we started late, and with 4 kiddos 12yrs and under, we thought- this is not going to be possible! But, despite a few DNF's at the beginning -and the negative vibe that gave us, we were determined to do it. 11.20am start, and we completed 65 of them by 5.30 at night- with a small lunch break on the side of the road and a few arguments in the car with restless kiddies- but a good haul! The last 7 were easily achieved the next morning on a morning walk along the Palmerston north River. 72 caches in 24hrs- whoop whoop.
Had the day off work. So pleased to be able to geocache after Covid levels 3 and 4. Headed to Bulls then Sanson. Decided to do part of this power trail. Definitely ups the cache/hour rates although no joy for us here. Thanks anyway.

Out caching with ritaryanandjj after an extremely long break from geocaching. Easing back into it with nice easy finds. Between the two of us we couldn't find this one.
Found a few meters away exposed, wind I guess. Returned to where we thought is should be...TFTC
This is day nine of a ten day trip down to Dunedin and back to move my daughter there so she can get her master’s degree at Otago University. I spent the morning around Himatangi doing a series of caches, and then headed up to Turangi. I was going to stay a second night, but the weather was closing in.
I saw this series on my way back from the WENZ 2018 Mega last year and thought I have to do these one day.
After spending the night at the holiday park at Himatangi, the rain had stopped long enough for me to continue where I left off the evening before. TFTC.

Out on a bit of a random road trip for a couple of weeks.
Taumaranui, Whakatane, Foxton Beach
Out today with our latest bit of Geocaching kit - e-bikes.
Cycling around a 12k block doing the power trail.
Good easy finds as a power trail should be. Adding the hint to the cache name is a nice touch.
We like the animals attached to the otherwise boring containers.

Today was a numbers run for us. Lots of caches to choose from in this area so we did all but 2 of the KAS series, the mint tin series and some railway ones. 98 caches found in total and 2 DNF's something tells me we are going to have to go out again to find 2 more today. Many thanks to all the CO's of the caches we visited today, hugely appreciated and certainly love the quiet roads after Auckland.
Found today on an outing from Wanganui with Jonos to complete some more of the KAS cactches. some logs very wet and I replaced them with waterproof paper. It was a good day out to add some more caches to the yearly total having not done much caching this year. It is good sometimes to have an easier day and most caches were easy to get to as both of us have knee replacements. TFTC
My second to last day on the north island and rain was coming so I decided to hit the trail to see if I could get a quick 50 or so. Loved the series, a few had full or wet logs, I had stash of presigned replacement logs in my pocket so replaced as necessary. Thanks for the trail kaŝmemoro

One of 65 caches located in this neck of the woods today, a personal best which is never likely to be repeated! Biked along these roads from mid-morning to late afternoon, making a real day of it. Thanks to the cache owners for putting all these hides in place.

mr and mrs are on a post 2018 WENZ Mega road trip, before going home
Today we’re in Manawatu and Horowhenua area, with some time dedicated to the KAS Series
Found caches have typically been signed MM78, although a few have been stamped mrandmrschosen1978.
Apologies for generic logs but with so many... condition of caches varied with good dry logs to wet/damp logs, we added some rite’n’rain slips to some as required
Thanks for this series, we appreciate the time and effort made in creating this series

Up for the Mega for the week, headed up the coast for a couple of days on family stuff, but did get few caches in for the day. many thanks to the cache placer's - Bitsprayer
It’s Day 1 of our 2018 WENZ MEGA crusade and Team BOP are well represented by McJandals, NZFlossy, TNXPro, Davidson Clan, FapAndGap & Squirrel nutcase and myself.
We have a huge hit list for this 5 day affair so it's gonna be a little manic. We’ve signed our logs either individually or as ‘Team BOP’ depending on log space, size or condition. A special thanks to all the CO’s and those who have helped keep these caches in good order.
Cache found quickly thanks to accurate co-ords and a straight forward placement. A neat series and theme but most of the log sheets need replacing and are good examples of my we should be using waterproof paper. TFTC.

We're staying with old friends in Palmy. It's nice to catch up with them and be in the city again. We're due back in time for dinner so we won't get the series finished today, TFTC
On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for. Interesting series of caches here in Palmy area. most were quick finds but some to took a bit longer. Thanks for keeping this trail going.
I was in Palmerston North from Thursday till Sunday, visiting from Wellington. The main reason for the trip was for my son to compete in the Manawatu Winter Swimming Championships at Freyberg Pool. He wanted to achieve qualifying times for a big Intermediate School swimming competition later in the year and this was the last opportunity before the cut-off date.
While I was up here I thought it would be a good opportunity to pick up the remaining 27 caches I need to collect the last Heavenly Creatures souvenir. There seem to be quite a few in this area so it looks like a good place to get them all.
This is number 18 of 27. The cache is in fair condition. Not completely dry... but that is not unexpected at this time of the year. I signed "22/7/18 CR". Sorry for the cut and paste logs. As mentioned above, I was on a mission to get 27 as fast as I could.
Thank you

Yesterday I found 57 caches geocaching solo chasing Hidden Creatures souvenirs, before stopping for the night at a Sanson motel.
This morning I resumed my intended planned route to complete the KAS animal trail before the weather breaks later today. Once again I thank the COs for placing these.
For whatever reason this cache was elusive, but got it in the end.

Sooo... it was 4 o clock in the morning, and I decided to get up and go for a drive to collect as many caches as possible before breakfast? Why? Cause I was down for work, and that was when I had to meet up with everyone.
Started at the southern end, so I could feel like I was working my way back to Palmy and my morning Hot Chocolate. Sooo many lizard poles. TFTC trail

Found while on a day out with junior cacher. Not a bad afternoon's haul, for me: a mystery cache, 20 trads along this power trail and a previous DNF. Thanks for the cache!
My son and I have been trying to get around to doing the KAS trail for quite some time now, ever since we finished getting through the nearby Chewy Mint trail.
The Planetary Pursuits event currently running, and an available free day with my son over the Easter weekend, seemed like the perfect excuse to finally hit it!
So I planned a route that also took into account some other nearby caches, such as this one, making a grand total of 84 caches to be attempted today, curious to know if we could absolutely blast our previous record (40) for the number of finds for a day. As it turned out, we had just 5 DNF's, so it was a tremendous result that propelled us almost all the way to Pluto in 1 day! I now have a very tired, but happy lad.
I apologise for the generic 'cut n paste' style of my log, but with 79 to do tonight I figured it was the only way.
This was a straightforward find. The cache and logbook are fine.
The log was signed as "T & T" to cover myself and my lad ThatWeirdGuy04.
Having just had my first placement muggled a couple of weeks ago, I am very much in appreciation of all CO's who place and maintain caches for the rest of us to find.

I was muggled here by a local farmer working in the opposite paddock on his ancient looking tractor. Will have to try again sometime.
A day trip up to the Manawatu to grab a few caches and to finally close out the KAS Power Trail. All remaining caches found.
I got a little fooled with this one as at first glance it appeared to be the same setup as #6, but after a small correction, found the cache on the other side. TFTC

Natural camo made this harder than it should be...got there in the end thank CO great series
Long grass hid it so took a while to locate. Glad it was there though. Thanks for the placement
Heading back to Wellington, then home to Marlborough, after visiting family in Bulls. There's a weather bomb unleashing above us, so of course we decide to do a power trail. Rain meant nobody else was around. Kids enjoyed seeing the "bugs" (or reptiles in some cases) from the safety of the car as we signed in the dry. Thanks for this trail.

Caching trip with Mum Dad and cache slave (son). To get as many as we could in 1 hour...total 20. Happy with that. Thanks for the caches. Merry Christmas.
Was out with my father in law Popmac who provided transport so I could clear out this series and I quickly made the find. Thanks for the cache. Knocked off the series in just under three hours.
This cache was attempted as part of the Palmerston North Power Leg of our "Road to 6,000" Extravaganza for 2016.

Apologies for the generic log — Team B&D are up from Wellington to do the 142 caches in 24 hours challenge. TFTC and a great set of power trails up here!
Found with barefootguru as part of the 142 in 24 hour cache challenge (GC5EAAX). Sorry for the generic log. TFTC
In the Manawatu for the weekend with some caching buddies- Uncle Sam, NZTravellers, Stik-a-crane. The goal was to find as many of the local caches that we could in the space of a day. We managed to find 206, I think, in the space of 14 hours, with a few bathroom/ coffee breaks and a couple of meal breaks. We all had a blast jumping in and out of the car, racing each other to the caches, and laughing and joking along the way, and in general had an awesome weekend down here.
We really enjoyed this trail, and I particularly thought the guardians of the cache containers were pretty cool!
Apologies for the generic logs.... with over 200 caches found in one day, it was virtually impossible to remember each individual cache!
Log signed as Team SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) in order to save log space.

But a big thank you to all the cache owners for putting out all of the great caches we visited.

Had a great time caching in the Manawatu with a group of friends from Auckland. Had our biggest caching day ever with this and other nearby caches! Thank you for setting up this cache and this great series. TFTC!
Sidewaze and I are out to exceed our best ever daily total today. To help us on the way we chose to take this self drive KAS guided tour round the beautiful rural Manawatu countryside. We found this cache while completing this trail. Really appreciate the titles and the added extra of all the little critters. TFTC #9392
Sidewaze and Isis58 on a 5 day long weekend adventure to the Mega in Turangi. 4 days each involved a considerable amount of travelling. That left one day when we didn’t have to get somewhere and we could cache for as long as we liked. We had an amazing day around the backroads and valleys of the Manawatu, really getting a feel for the lie of the land as we travelled.
The brilliant red of the early morning sky was amazing. We marvelled at the green green grass, observed the thousands of cows, heard hundreds of bulls and lots of pheasants and plovers. Saw lots of beautiful mauve daisies. Geocaching is a great way to see so much country that you would otherwise bypass. We signed most logs SWIS to save space, time and sanity. Thank you so much for placing this cache.

Heading towards the Mega. Thought it would be impolite not to grab a few on the way through. Thanks all for the hides.
Thanks for the series kasmemoro - sorry about the cut and paste but with so many there weren't so many things that were different for each one.
Sanson.
After checking into our accommodation we had lunch & a rest .
In the afternoon we headed out onto the KAZ trail. This was liking a tiki tour of the area around the farming country side.

Visiting Manawatu over the weekend so had to try and get some of this trail completed. Great area for a trail and thankfully the rain had stopped. TFTC
I was in Palmy North on business and decided to stay an extra day and spend time driving the KAS trail Nicely put together with the added bonus that its all on a sealed road.. and with plenty of parking. Just great. The weather co-operated with sunny skies and a nice breeze. Thanks for the trail.
I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.
Today I joined forces with yorkshirekiwi83 for a full day of caching before an event in the city tonight. We picked up a few caches around the city first, then drove down towards Opiki collecting caches down some of the side roads as we went, then headed across to do the KAS Power Trail, before going up to do the caches around Ohakea then headed back to Palmerston North.
At this point we worked our way through the KAS Power Trail Series - a series that YK83 started last year, but which came an abrupt end for her. Today we had no such problems and had an enjoyable time finding all of the caches on the trail - the vast majority were nice easy finds, we only had notable issues with 3 caches (which I will go into more detail about on the relevant cache logs.) Thanks for the obvious time that has been spent putting these neat containers together and for placing this trail!

Vistra and I headed down to Manawatu as the KAS trail has been bugging me in its incomplete form, as we both needed numbers for personal goals it seemed like a good opportunity. Thanks to the cache owners for all the caches and the variety, over 2 days I found over 200 caches, so thank you for placing and maintaining them.
Most were quick easy finds, although there were some very clever ones and some well thought out. TFTC

Since I was back in the region for a couple of weeks I decided a big day caching was on order. Calls were made and plans were put in place and Jesso22, Stardust 718 and I set off in my new 4WD to collect a heap of caches. The first cache was collect at 7am and last one just before 7pm. The final numbers came to just of 150 so a productive day was had.
