Mission is to work through these lonely caches on this fun KAS trail and show them some love. Its been 214days since this was last foundAlso my first power series, although doing it after work in the dark meant I could only knock off a few. Today’s mission is to try and push ourselves over one hundred caches for the month, and fifty for the day. Targeting the KAS trail (plus whatever others we need depending on how many we find). In the end we managed 50 finds and 10 DNF’s - hard work!
No luck on this one.

09-Apr-23
We had a good look around the likely area, but could not find today. (Saw a kapito though.)

DNF - A day of chasing a high volume of caches with TrinityNZ and matagouri. This was in the perfect location for us unfortunately we didn't find.

Down here for the weekend exploring the area. Today we attempted as much as we could of this series. Thanks to the CO for this series.

Quick find on a big caching adventure. Tftc

18-Feb-22
Looking for 50 finds today for a challenge.

Looks like a good series to do it before it gets too hot.

This is number 40 at 11:47am. Wet and lid broken.

31-Oct-21
Making my way back to Wellington (from Wanganui) and took a wee detour for a few caches along here, this was one. No problem finding this one. I suspect the previous DNF was logged to the wrong cache as the post here was not a new one (but the next cache along did have that problem). All good here, TFTC.

Heading down to Foxton Beach for a couple of days and had spare time to cache. Have wanted to return and complete more of this series. Parked up the camper van and got the bike out. Not sure it was sure a good idea as it was blowing a gale. Still it was great on the cycle back when the wind was behind me. Got another 12 of the series with 1 DNF. All but one were dry and no problems signing the log. This log was full hence the photo. Thanks for the smiley.

We did this area about a month in order to achieve the 72 cache finds in 24hrs. An achievement coin thats still out there in Geoshop land if you hunt hard enough! We were staying in Palmie for a couple of nights, so it seemed only logical to try and give it ago- we started late, and with 4 kiddos 12yrs and under, we thought- this is not going to be possible! But, despite a few DNF's at the beginning -and the negative vibe that gave us, we were determined to do it. 11.20am start, and we completed 65 of them by 5.30 at night- with a small lunch break on the side of the road and a few arguments in the car with restless kiddies- but a good haul! The last 7 were easily achieved the next morning on a morning walk along the Palmerston north River. 72 caches in 24hrs- whoop whoop.

One of many today as we knocked off part of the power trail, the weather was lovely and the roads quiet except for a few tractors making it hard to be stealth at times. TFTC.

Taking the opportunity on this lovely day to explore some of the caches around the Manawatu that I never got around to grabbing when I lived here!

Seventeenth find for the day was another nice quick one, the lizard was in the second place I looked. TFTC!

This is day nine of a ten day trip down to Dunedin and back to move my daughter there so she can get her master’s degree at Otago University. I spent the morning around Himatangi doing a series of caches, and then headed up to Turangi. I was going to stay a second night, but the weather was closing in.

I saw this series on my way back from the WENZ 2018 Mega last year and thought I have to do these one day.

After spending the night at the holiday park at Himatangi, the rain had stopped long enough for me to continue where I left off the evening before. TFTC.

Out on a bit of a random road trip for a couple of weeks.
Taumaranui, Whakatane, Foxton Beach Smile
Out today with our latest bit of Geocaching kit - e-bikes.
Cycling around a 12k block doing the power trail.
Good easy finds as a power trail should be. Adding the hint to the cache name is a nice touch.
We like the animals attached to the otherwise boring containers.

Today was a numbers run for us. Lots of caches to choose from in this area so we did all but 2 of the KAS series, the mint tin series and some railway ones. 98 caches found in total and 2 DNF's something tells me we are going to have to go out again to find 2 more today. Many thanks to all the CO's of the caches we visited today, hugely appreciated and certainly love the quiet roads after Auckland.

Day 3/9 of our New Years trip up to the North Island. This was find #86/100 for the day and #155/526 of our trip.
Today was a numbers run of mostly PnG caches. We started in Palmy and set off to see if we could Spell, then headed up to Bulls and after that rounded up a few Smurfs, Herbs, Airplanes, Railway stations and anything else along the way until we came in to finish the KAS trail we started in Oct 2016. We are finally here to finish off what we started in 2016 on the way to the Mega in Turangi. As intended most were pretty quick easy finds. Thanks for the effort involved in placing and creating this series for all of us to enjoy. Smile

Day #1 of our four day caching trip to Palmerston North. As it's the first time back in several years, there are heaps of new caches to find Smile
After attending this mornings event, and checking into our accommodation, we decided to head out west to the cache dense area of various trails. This afternoon it was all about the numbers. TFTC.

Found today on an outing from Wanganui with Jonos to complete some more of the KAS cactches. some logs very wet and I replaced them with waterproof paper. It was a good day out to add some more caches to the yearly total having not done much caching this year. It is good sometimes to have an easier day and most caches were easy to get to as both of us have knee replacements. TFTC

27-Oct-18
My second to last day on the north island and rain was coming so I decided to hit the trail to see if I could get a quick 50 or so. Loved the series, a few had full or wet logs, I had stash of presigned replacement logs in my pocket so replaced as necessary. Thanks for the trail kaŝmemoro

One of 65 caches located in this neck of the woods today, a personal best which is never likely to be repeated! Biked along these roads from mid-morning to late afternoon, making a real day of it. Thanks to the cache owners for putting all these hides in place.
This one was a straightforward find. #2030. TFTC.

• mr and mrs are on a post 2018 WENZ Mega road trip, before going home
Today we’re in Manawatu and Horowhenua area, with some time dedicated to the KAS Series
Found caches have typically been signed MM78, although a few have been stamped mrandmrschosen1978.
Apologies for generic logs but with so many... condition of caches varied with good dry logs to wet/damp logs, we added some rite’n’rain slips to some as required
Thanks for this series, we appreciate the time and effort made in creating this series •

It’s Day 1 of our 2018 WENZ MEGA crusade and Team BOP are well represented by McJandals, NZFlossy, TNXPro, Davidson Clan, FapAndGap & Squirrel nutcase and myself.

We have a huge hit list for this 5 day affair so it's gonna be a little manic. We’ve signed our logs either individually or as ‘Team BOP’ depending on log space, size or condition. A special thanks to all the CO’s and those who have helped keep these caches in good order.

Cache found quickly thanks to accurate co-ords and a straight forward placement. A neat series and theme but most of the log sheets need replacing and are good examples of my we should be using waterproof paper. TFTC.

Sorry my logs are a bit boring. We found 300 caches on our 10 day trip. My phone was playing up so I couldn't log them then and there. I've been home 10 days and between family and work I'm only onto logging the fourth days finds. Thanks for the caches and the little creatures on all the containers Smile

On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for. Interesting series of caches here in Palmy area. most were quick finds but some to took a bit longer. Thanks for keeping this trail going.

22-Jul-18
I was in Palmerston North from Thursday till Sunday, visiting from Wellington. The main reason for the trip was for my son to compete in the Manawatu Winter Swimming Championships at Freyberg Pool. He wanted to achieve qualifying times for a big Intermediate School swimming competition later in the year and this was the last opportunity before the cut-off date.

While I was up here I thought it would be a good opportunity to pick up the remaining 27 caches I need to collect the last Heavenly Creatures souvenir. There seem to be quite a few in this area so it looks like a good place to get them all.

This is number 14 of 27. The cache is in fair condition. Not completely dry... but that is not unexpected at this time of the year. I signed "22/7/18 CR". Sorry for the cut and paste logs. As mentioned above, I was on a mission to get 27 as fast as I could.

Thank you

My son and I have been trying to get around to doing the KAS trail for quite some time now, ever since we finished getting through the nearby Chewy Mint trail.

The Planetary Pursuits event currently running, and an available free day with my son over the Easter weekend, seemed like the perfect excuse to finally hit it!

So I planned a route that also took into account some other nearby caches, such as this one, making a grand total of 84 caches to be attempted today, curious to know if we could absolutely blast our previous record (40) for the number of finds for a day. As it turned out, we had just 5 DNF's, so it was a tremendous result that propelled us almost all the way to Pluto in 1 day! I now have a very tired, but happy lad.

I apologise for the generic 'cut n paste' style of my log, but with 79 to do tonight I figured it was the only way.

This was a straightforward find. The cache and logbook are fine.
The log was signed as "T & T" to cover myself and my lad ThatWeirdGuy04.

Having just had my first placement muggled a couple of weeks ago, I am very much in appreciation of all CO's who place and maintain caches for the rest of us to find.

I had to be in Palmerston briefly this morning and with nothing else planned I decided to throw the treadly on the back of the car and spend a few hours biking round the power trail in 29 degree heat. It is ironic so many of these caches are named after bugs as I got eaten alive everytime I ventured into the long, dried grass to make a find. It's ok though, as the bites matched my hayfever welts nicely. Sorry for the generic logs, but TFTC.

Heading back to Wellington, then home to Marlborough, after visiting family in Bulls. There's a weather bomb unleashing above us, so of course we decide to do a power trail. Rain meant nobody else was around. Kids enjoyed seeing the "bugs" (or reptiles in some cases) from the safety of the car as we signed in the dry. Thanks for this trail.

In the Manawatu for the weekend with some caching buddies- Uncle Sam, NZTravellers, Stik-a-crane, HeMaLuDy. The goal was to find as many of the caches in the area as we could in the space of a day, and we all had a blast jumping in and out of the cars, racing each other to the caches, and laughing and joking along the way, and in we general had an awesome weekend down here.

Well, we had almost had enough for the day, but we needed to finish off the last few caches in the KAS series on the way back to the bach where we were staying. So, with eyes only just still open, and feeling worn out from the long day, we dug in and got it done!
Another lizard pole ticked off the list!

Apologies for the generic logs- as we ended up doing over 200 in a day, it was hard to remember specifics about each individual cache we found! I really appreciate the huge effort gone to in this series though, and I enjoyed the guardians of the caches- very cute! Glad to have had the opportunity to do this trail.

Log signed as Team SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) in order to save log space. I have emailed the CO about our logging blunder!
TFTC!

19-Nov-16
Our team from Auckland wanted to do a major day of caching, so headed down to Foxton area for a massive day. We got about 205.

Very sorry for the generic logs, but when doing so many in one day very hard to make notes on each.

But a big thank you to all the cache owners for putting out all of the great caches we visited.

19-Nov-16
After a massive day caching with friends it was getting on to 10pm and we wanted to finally finish off the missing KAS finds after abandoning the KAS series earlier in the day for a lunch date in Foxton. With tired cachers falling asleep in the back, MrNZT and Stick-a-crane guided us to the remaining caches for one last push before bedtime. Cache quickly found and signed. TFTC!

A lady who was running down the road got a bit agitated with me where I had parked, I felt I was off the road enough but she said that the corner just back from here was a blind one and someone has died there recently. Maybe may want to make a note about how to park. Tftc

I was in Palmy North on business and decided to stay an extra day and spend time driving the KAS trail Nicely put together with the added bonus that its all on a sealed road.. and with plenty of parking. Just great. The weather co-operated with sunny skies and a nice breeze. Thanks for the trail.

19-Mar-16
I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.

Today I joined forces with yorkshirekiwi83 for a full day of caching before an event in the city tonight. We picked up a few caches around the city first, then drove down towards Opiki collecting caches down some of the side roads as we went, then headed across to do the KAS Power Trail, before going up to do the caches around Ohakea then headed back to Palmerston North.

At this point we worked our way through the KAS Power Trail Series - a series that YK83 started last year, but which came an abrupt end for her. Today we had no such problems and had an enjoyable time finding all of the caches on the trail - the vast majority were nice easy finds, we only had notable issues with 3 caches (which I will go into more detail about on the relevant cache logs.) Thanks for the obvious time that has been spent putting these neat containers together and for placing this trail!

Vistra and I headed down to Manawatu as the KAS trail has been bugging me in its incomplete form, as we both needed numbers for personal goals it seemed like a good opportunity. Thanks to the cache owners for all the caches and the variety, over 2 days I found over 200 caches, so thank you for placing and maintaining them.

Most were quick easy finds, although there were some very clever ones and some well thought out. TFTC

Since I was back in the region for a couple of weeks I decided a big day caching was on order. Calls were made and plans were put in place and Jesso22, Stardust 718 and I set off in my new 4WD to collect a heap of caches. The first cache was collect at 7am and last one just before 7pm. The final numbers came to just of 150 so a productive day was had.
Found as Team AJS to save space on the very full logs
