Logs
Well, this was the end for us as we cycled out via the road & came back along the cycle track.TFTC & showing us this trail!
Two Australian travelling NZ trying to do one cache per day but this is the fourth for the day thanks for bringing us here TFTC
A nice quick find whilst out for the day. Will have to come back and do the bike ride. Tftc
I am in Waihi for a few days and decided to do a couple caches in the evening. I blindly walked past this one a couple of times until I finally found it. TFTC
Out and about on the e-scooter, seeing what geocaches I can find before the rain comes. Reading the log helped reduce some search time. TFTC
Nice hang about. Love the cycleway but will walk today. We three are on the move again. Ta for the spot
Starting off on a walking adventure along this track, one found. Hope the rain stays away. Many thanks for the cache
I’m glad we read the previous posts for clues before we spent too long searching the wrong tree! Family adventure bagging hopefully lots of caches on this cool track. TFTCs
Headed down this way for some RnR with Mrs stik-a-crane and junior cacher, staying at Waihi Beach..... we decided to cycle to Bowentown this morning before the sun got too hot and tidy the area up of loose green dots on the map......
The cache was all good.

We’re staying a couple of nights at Waihi Beach. Picked up a few caches locally today. Went for a meander along the first part of this walkway in the evening and found three caches including this one. We started with this hide but couldn’t locate anything. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack!
We gave up and carried on with our walk. On our way back we double-checked that we were looking at the correct tree. Our coords seemed to direct us to the tree that had been overtaken by “reed growth”, thus the difficulty in finding anything! We decided to check the other tree just in case, and Mrs tbird spotted what we had been looking for! Could have been a reasonably quick find if we’d chosen the correct tree in the first place! #5924. TFTC.

Somehow I missed doing this one on our last visit, so stopped by here on my bike ride to the wetlands.
Took a little bit to spot, and then a bit to reach but I got the little buggar!
Thanks for putting this here. This is a great cycle path

Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up at the NZMCA Campsite in Waihi Beach … we decided that as we had time on our hands we would go for a walk & pick up a cache or two … found with no issues, log completed & returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,589 for us.
Staying in Bowentown for a few days. Finally some fine weather to go for a ride.
Not a pohutakawa, more like a taupata. Spotted the hide and had to go blind with a face full of tree to extract and replace.
Our turn around point. Off to visit the Bowentown boat ramp now. TFTC

Secret no more i know where it is... on a trip to the bach from Timaru and it was time for fish and chips so on the way back a quick stop to find my pen was broken so back to the car i go and grab 1 of the 375 spares i carry . Cache found in perfect condition ready for the next finder tftc
This was a tad harder to find than I had anticipated. It will get harder as the years go on I imagine. Cool spot will have to come back here with some bikes. Thanks.
Took us a while but perseverance paid off just in time before a cycling muggle came through, TFTC
I came to Waihi Beach to check out this secret cycleway. Great to have some caches to find while enjoying the ride. Thanks for hiding vectis
Another sunny cool morning out and about Waihi. Checked out this secret cycleway. Left our calling card. Cheers.
Day 13 - Wednesday 30 December - Waihi - Athenree - Tauranga. Moving south again. Lets Go!
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Parked Zara nearby and took off in Toby. I don't think we will get the lot done today, there is so much here! And since this is practically on Zara's doorstep, this is the first.
And this is the third time I am saying... That is NOT a pohutokawa! It is a karo. notice the smooth bark and the seed pods? Seems to be a few COs that do not know the difference. Once I worked out that that a pohutokawa is not what I should be looking for it was an easy find (actually it was an easy find anyway).
My GPS suggests this cycle track is marked incorrectly on the maps. Will confirm and correct if necessary sometime next week.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Went for an evening walk! Turñed into more òf a nature walk than gcing spied 4 or 5 giant kokopu approx 300-400 mm long in a culvert. Theyre one of the adult whitebait species. Then in the next drain spied 20 or eels inthe current. Then in the next drain a number of whitebait in a shoel. Oh, got a couple of caches too.
Looked at previous logs and they all talked about BlackBerry bushes. Once I looked up what one looked like I quickly spotted the cache! TFTC
While the Covid 19 rahui is in place we are not supposed to drive to a place for a walk. All the locals geocachers should have found this one by now.
Anyone geocaching during this time is putting themselves and others at risk by handling the containers, stash and logs. So this cache is disabled until this present emergency ends.
I reserve the right to disable any logs dated during the lockdown.

All three of us couldn’t find it despite the obvious hint and co-ords. There was loads of gravel which looked recent so maybe worth a check.
Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
Camping nearby. Quick walk and sign.
Decided to walk the track before the rain started. Tftc

We were pleased to see this walkway was here and even more pleased there were caches hidden all long it.
We parked right beside GZ and made a quick find before heading off to find some more in the series.

As we parked up in our cachmobile just down the road at the NZMCA site I got the bike out and got onto this trail
We are on a road trip in our campervan to do some bike trails with geocaches along them and the plan is to head to Bowentown and on up to Whangamata then on to Pauanui. All these places have bike trails with geocaches along them so I wish to thanks the C O s who placed the geocaches along the trails as We really enjoy doing trails and getting geocaching numbers up.
Other geocaches were also sought out as we went along to help fill the day in. We were pleased most caches were well maintained and only had 3 no finds along the way
many thanks

Quick find while we were deciding on which end of the trail to start at. Not really any parking here, so we'll try the other end.
I thought I would take a chance on this unpublicized route down to Bowentown and was not disappointed. We're liked it so much we came the same way back.
Last one of the series. With little fail start at beginning all good ! Thanks for your efforts! TFTC
Stopped for this one on 4 wheels, not 2. Looking forward to scoring a few more, ( weather permitting ). TFTC
This afternoon was perfect for doing a little walk in order I didn't have my bike with me. Most of the boxes were found soon, only two or three caches needed a longer surch.
Thanks for the caches!
Thanks for the caches!
I was in Waihi Beach for a couple of days and noticed that this once had been replaced since my recent DNF after a CITO event. Had to go and have a look and sure enough... there it was! Thanks so much for the replacement. Very happy to turn my blue face into a smiley.
Thanks to the CITO event this morning I was in the area and ready to do some geocaching. A cacher at the event told me this cycleway had a great trail of finds available... unfortunately this one wasn't amongst them.
Up in Bowentown for the school holidays. After a day's biking up the rail trail and some time at Bullswool the youngest and I decided to cycle back from the shops to the house and pick up some caches along the way. I've found this before but never logged it....couldn't sign it this time as the log was wet through, I never got the chance to return and drop off a dry log - sorry.
Yay we finished the cycle way! Thanks for the fun along the way. Now for a nice cold drink in the cafe nearby. TFTC.
