Well M hunted all over the show and in the end it was J's idea that unearthed it. Signed as TBA. TFTC
This was our turnaround point, having ridden our push-bikes from Perfume Point. Bit blustery, but beautiful day for it! Would have been sweltering without the wind. At first thought " arghhhh oh no Not in there?!" as flax is my nemesis. But it was actually quite a straightforward find of a nicely placed cache. Thanks!
Team work was required on this one and a lot of studying up on previous logs. We actually found it in the dark after completing a night cache across the otherside of the river. We had a motorhomer a bit worried as he stood out in the dark checking us out. He gave up looking before we did.
Was here a few days ago but only very briefly; muggle city. Back today early in the morning to avoid them, and worked out perfectly. So many places cache could be, very well done - Its in there, its in where? Quickly spotted something that didn't really make sense, but seemed pretty solid, and could easily be brushed off as fitting the vibe of the area in the way. Eventually came back to it, and finally found the right way to retrieve. Really great cache, good to see its still going strong after all these years. Cheers
Great hide, great find by myself and mrlgrose at 7:30 on a cold winters morning. Plenty of cockroaches muggling us, but the cache was in hand soon enough. Plenty of action on the river even at this time of day.
What a fabulous cache and proud of myself for getting it straight away!! What the perfect end to another day travelling this incredible country. The sunset over the water with rowers going about their day is just bliss
Beautiful day! Happy to pull this 4.0 challenge off. The effort to create & place such a cache is appreciated by this visiting catcher! Im not totally one to complain about a broken nail, but I do wished Id brought grippy gloves! Did a bit of rubbish collection afterwards. This stuff doesnt need to wash into the river then into the sea and into the guts of wildlife. CITO Lots of human activity in the river, but no muggles parked near the GZ.
Enjoyed watching the jet skis racing around. Looked at the cache zone after a wee wander. Could only be in one place. Clever hidey spot! Took a bit of engineering to get our hands on the cache but Indiana Jill and I worked as a team. Thanks to the clever cache owner for this adventure!
Out and about on the trail with xsaveya today (short but sweet ride) a few on the water today.Thought we were going to be here for awhile but soon sorted what was required to sign the log.Signed and replaced as foundThanks for the placement and the smiley
TFTC Found with Colway1 while on holidays in NZ.A very tricky hide, which took a while to find!!A FP from us both.
TFTCA very nice hide....it took a fair while to narrow it down! All of the obvious tricky places were searched first! Our best find in NZ, so far!
Came back on a beautiful weekend with plenty of time. Having reviewed other comments I was onto it in straight away. Very clever hide, well worth a favourite. Thanks. There was no logbook so I left behind a new one for future finders.
A double check here both on the way to and from Napier. Much boat activity but got down and checked the likely host, nothing sighted. Not sure if this is still there.
I didn't spend long looking (hence not a genuine DNF) but I strongly suspect this would have been carried away in the cyclone
A lovely morning to be driving around in the Hawke’s Bay. Arrived to find at GZ and we had a good look around sticking our heads and hands in many different places. We were just about to give up when I had an idea of another place to look -and there it was. A well earned favourite.
Infoferret has a few days of leave to use up and asked if I would like to accompany her on a jaunt to Napier. How could I say no???
Kia ora rawa atu for the cache nickhbnz.

8 February 2023 10:21 Out and about in the area with NZ_B. This was one that was on her 'must do' list, so we made it a priority. Parked up. Looked around, tried a few things without success. Coordinates slightly off, so I wandered around to where they pointed to. Options there were in the flax, or swimming - and I decided that would be taking the cache theme too literally!
Back to where we started. We looked some more, gradually eliminating options. Eventually B tried something that I should have checked better, and there it was! Outside of the cache was pretty yucky, but the log could be signed, and that's what matters!
TFTC nickhbnz for placing this cache, number 12334 for me.

I wrote in the log and concealed it carefully back as found,

Eureka!!!!!!!!!
I found it!!!!!!!
I had been barking up the wrong tree so to speak. This must be the 4th time I have looked at this and finally found it at last.
Thanks for your amazing cache. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches.
This has earned you a favorite.
Cheers, Cympull.

I was staying the night nearby ...as one always... does checks for caches ...well how lucky is that...basically on the door step...duper sharp co-ords had me on the spot...Usually jump out at me...ummm not this time...besides that I was bemused by the hint....a quick head scratch now where would I put it ...definitely not in there I hate those things with a passion ..then I looked at the structure...walla light bulb moment and all was revealed...this is an extremely good hide, the type I would use and aspire tothanks for the great cache your efforts are appreciated....although the container could do with some TLC it's showing its 7 years of age damp and grubby
We are parked up not too far away. Mr 8 year old needed to burn off a bit of energy. We started tge search with me checking the flax bush - very quickly as someone had dumped fish bait there and tge sun was doing its job!! Macwatt and noidnz were jockeying for position at another spot. As it turns out, not a job for noidnz but macwatt nailed it. Even then I couldn't see it ( I blame the sun for being in my eyes). Very cleverly concealed. Thanks for the placement nickhbnz
I'm parked here overnight in my motorhome so made a point to come and find this in the morning while it is still quiet. Had to refer to previous logs before re checking a certain large item I had ignored on my first pass. A very clever hide, nice once cheers
Found at 12:45. So I guess it is no longer Friday, but Saturday. However I have not had any sleep yet, it still feels like Friday.
Which means it is also dark. Very dark. Okay, not very dark, I do have a good torch. Anyway, no winter sports happening at the moment.
The cache description says this is supposed to be a difficult find. Great. I start work on the flax. About half way through that hunt I give up - can't be botherd - lets check to see it it really is there. I read the logs. People are raving over this cache! Check the favourite - lots! That settles it - it's not in the flax! So where...? Soon found a likely candidate, then soon after had the cache. Nicely done. And, yep, a favourite from me too! Time to get some sleep...
I was supposed to go to the mega. Which got postponed, so I cancelled my arrangements, but labour weekend is still a three day holiday, but car hire was too expansive... so I decided to make it this weekend for a road trip to Napier, to mop up the TM- and PW- GTs there.

Oh my gosh this is so clever. But OH! MY GOSH! THE ROACHES!! fun hide, top notch (see what I did there?). Tftc
What a cracker. We knew we were close and it took a bit of nutting out. A good finish to a perfect Hawkes Bay day. And what a finish, absolutely definitely worth a favourite, thanks for your efforts, we appreciate what you have done here.
We looked for a bit then noticed something odd. The cockroaches are a good sign! Awesome hide.

We were a little skeptical about diving into there to find it but were pleasantly surprised. A very cool cache and may need a new logsheet as it is so popular. TFTC

One of seven caches located today (not including the five credited for an Adventure Lab before breakfast) on day 6 of our motorhome summer holiday to Hawkes Bay. After visiting Te Mata Peak today and finding a few caches there, we had a short stop in Clive and picked up another three.
This one was very close to where we parked up for a couple of hours. Tricky hide! Initially I was reluctant to delve into the vegetation to try to spot the cache. After bringing in Mrs tbird to help with the search, she insisted we investigate something she was convinced needed to be investigated! Turned out she was right. Took a while to figure out how to get to it, but perseverance resulted in a successful find! Certainly deserves a favourite! #3678. TFTC.

Thanks nickhbnz for the cache. It’s #1329 for us. We found your cache on 10 November 2020. Amazing cache. We were right on it from the start but it still took a while to work out the way in the door.
Amazing spot to camp overnight at in our camper and a bonus to find this gc here. Very tricky hide but quickly found by being inquisitive.tftc
We forgot our pen so we took picture of it! We needed to come back, the first time was not with us. We was looking at the right place but not proprely... I dreamed about a solution and it was correct!!! Cockroaches are doing a net there but the cache is still very nice and different than usually! TFTC
Such a hard little find but got the in the end...i had been staring at it for well over 10 minutes.. left trackable
With help from the CO (due to a fault) the cache was quickly inhand. With a small repair the cache was fitted back where it should have been. Nice hide, and a fav from me because of the quick help, and the great hide.
I'm sorry I am very behind in my logs having recently lost a finger which makes typing very painful. Apologies as my logs won't be as complete as usual.
On a weekend to Napier with Bennett24 came and looked for quite a few caches and this was one of them.
Pretty neat hide here - always impressed with a clever hide like this - we found the standard of hides in Napier very high and our visit was a great deal of fun.
Tricky but three sets of eyes was a godsend - I didn't find it I think Mr Bennett24 did but I can't be certain. Great effort. Thanks for the cache.

On a caching weekend to Napier and Gisborne with Tuolei we stopped by here on our way to the CANZ cache as we saw it had a few favourites. After a quick look around and probing a few spots we found what we were looking for and managed to retrieve the cache.
This is a very nicely constructed hide and appreciate doing something a little different. TFTC.

Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
Quickly found. Had suspicious it was there right away. Due to the amount of insects made me question as it would certainly harm or panic them. Tftc!
found this way back in June 2019, just found my logbook that I had them all written down in, was a big trip from Hawera to Tauranga and then down to Hatings and then Home
replaced serveral logbooks on my travels
hope everyone has as much fun as I do caching

We stayed in our campervan in the reserve and walked down to get this but some of the logs were very misleading then something looked a bit different A FP
We are away in our campervan just cruising the manawatu to Waiarapa then on to Hawkes Bay and return. During our tour we enjoyed travelling the quiet roads away from the main state highways. we enjoyed the bike trails around the Napier to Clifton and the inland trails up to Hastings and beyond, many of these trails of course were extra special because they had geocaches placed along them. Many thanks to all those who look after the caches. We hope you enjoy the same when you come into our area.
Sorry about the cut and paste if you have more than one geocache that we had found

Have been planning these caches for a few weeks in conjunction with HKCB for a mad dash and effectively a 24 hour run (so that we could spend time with our respective families) for the rest of the ensuing weekend.
Leaving Hamilton at 7pm Friday and getting home midnight on Saturday so that at least 6hours quality sleep was acheived, sleeping in the car is always a bonus (2 hours) and the remainder of the time caching around part of the country we hadn't previousley done a whole lot, but have left plenty for the next trip across the hill.
This was the twenty fourth of the 25 prior to sleep and 100+ that we acheived in that time we were over here. The Bonus was that we largely managed to stay dry, if only slightly damp on the outside.
Thanks to all the CO's for the effort and giving some great caches, sorry about the repetitive logs but then 100 is a few to cover off.
Very quiet but a lot of camper and mobile homes, its like they breed
Thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

We had been talking about cache bash in Napier for a while, and when Cats&Dragons mentioned a trip down here this weekend I couldn't say no. The plan was to head down Friday night (leaving Hamilton about 7pm) and then cache til we can then grab a few hours sleep and then cache through til late afternoon and then head home. The plan worked well, with about 110 caches found over the 24 hour caching period.
It was the first time we had visited Napier to do a caching mission, and we were both impressed with the genius hides (some we hadn't seen before, I'll give a special mention to those ones). A big thanks to all the CO's whose caches we found, for placing and maintaining them. A great trip and looking forward to a revisit.

Heading away in the Geocamper for a few days down Napier Hastings way taking the bikes and riding the trails and doing some caches. We stayed overnight in the reserve and walked along in the morning to get this cache. After reading previous logs Mr S was right on to it. It was Mrs S's job to retrieve the container. When she did, without looking at it, Mr S remarked on all the LARGE cockies which prompted Mrs S to utter expletives and drop the container. EERRGGHH. hate those cockies, especially the BIG ones. We only get little ones at home. Have a FAV for the hide though. Very innovative. We were entertained the evening before by all the rowers practicing on the river and by the boy racers on their jet ski's roaring around like lunatics and a couple of lads in a speedboat as well. We wondered about the legality of it all, being boaties ourselves, unti we read the sign down by the ramp in the morning. Interesting.
Thanks nickbnz.

Staying in the reserve in our camper, this was only feet away.
It took us about 10 minutes of looking/pulling/pushing before Tim did one thing and Viv spied the cache!

We had totally the wrong idea when we arrived at this cache, and spent some time searching unsuccessfully, and were about to depart, when Mrs W.E.K.A. noticed something not quite right. With a little effort, this led to a fairly quick find of this very sneakily hidden cache, which has to get a favourite from us. TFTC
Parked futther away than I had to.. hah.. Found in the place I checked first.. good hide, but I dont get the 'teamwork required' attribute, as it's easily found alone.. ?
FP for the work anyway though =)

Logged on 23 October 2018. First shown this at a CITO organised by Munkis November 2016 as a newcomer with the principle of having to find the cache first ( not be shown it ) to log it. I have long ago forsaken this principle . from me.
Nice find on a Saturday morning, now off to a Café in Clive
Log is very wet, good it's waterproof paper.

We left around 5.30am this morning to try and finish the hidden creatures over here, the weather couldn't be more in our favor with no cloud in the sky. thanks to everyone who took the time to place and maintain these caches we got to see much of the bay and many great hides before heading for home around 4.30pm - fav point first time seeing that type of hide.
Wow, now that's awesome! Nice sunny Winter's day. Perfect for caching down here. Had fun searching. TFTC
Whoa what a find.while traveling around on North island time to find some caches.what a clever hiding place.locals were wondering what we were doing there....took the TB related to our home country and will drop it of some where.thanks for this cache
Dropped a few TBs off that I have been holding on to for far too long. Also grabbed a couple that were already in there.
Family of five traveling Nz in a bus called clover took a TB and left a clover. On a bike ride today, fun find
EtherLady and I are in the Hawke's Bay for a few days for our 10th wedding anniversary (and no kids!)
We are staying at an Air B&B just up the road from this cache.
Found this one while on an after-dinner walk along the river bank.
The GPSr took us to a likely area and I started looking for its possible home.
Soon I noticed something that looked odd to me and thought "That's something that FireWoof* would do".
Sure enough, the cache was soon in hand. Nicely done!
*a cacher from Wanganui whose gadget-caches have a strange ability of acquiring my FPs!
There were two Trackables in the cache, although only one listed. Swapped them both for three others that have come with me from the Manawatu.
+ - 2x TB
+ + 3x TB
+ + 1x FP
+ + 1x T4TC!

Really enjoyed this hide, and it's definitely our favourite find of the day. . Something different from the norm. Great location for a cache, and concealed very well. TFTC. Fave point added. Cheers
Seeing as how it was still too light out to start some night caches in the area, Jag50, Merlot58 and I headed to this cache. Upon reading the title we had it in our head that this would be a different type of cache, so came prepared with a TOTT, which we later realised we didn't need. A muggle parked up beside GZ was so ingrossed in his phone he didn't even notice us here. We searched around and finally spotted something that warranted further investigation. It took a few to realise how to extract the cache. Very sneaky. Fav point from me.
It was not quite dark and dinner was done. It was getting on dusk and time to have fun. We were filling in time before it got dark enough to do some night caches. We had come prepared with water thinking it was one of "those" caches but it was not. Despite the nearby muggle in his car we set about locating the cache. Something was definitely not quite right. We distressed a major ants nest but that did not dissuade us. It took a few minutes to figure out how to access the cache and log but eventually we had it. A cool hide and it gets a FP from us.
Filling in time before it got dark enough to do some night caches Jag50, Aiden29 and I headed here. Misinterpreting the name we came prepared with some liquid tott. A muggle parked up nearby was too busy looking at his phone to notice us search the nearby greenery and then investigate something that looked suspicious. It took a few minutes to figure out how to access the log and in doing so we disturbed an ant colony as well as a few cockroaches. A very crafty hide, gets a fp from me
I was driving through the Hawkes Bay and stopped to grab some of what I thought would be easy drivebys. Turns out some were easier than others! A good day of finds. Thanks.
In Napier to hold a black tie dinner last night for work. Out and about early this morning, given the lateness of the hour that I got to bed and feeling reasonably ok, so I decided to do a bit of caching on the way home.
It didn't take too long to spot the crafty hide. Haven't seen a version like this before. Giving it an FP. TFTC

After two tries we needed a gently nudge. Spent the night at the park in our bus then had another crack the next morning. Muggle central this morning but finally all clear. We then noticed something we had not seen the previous day. Husband soon had cache in hand. And now we know why it deserves all the favourites. And another one from us. Very clever, well done. Thank you for your effort in setting this up.
After completing the nightcache across the river I made a beeline for this cache, knowing the quality of the CO's other hides. Spotted something interesting right away and almost leapt backwards as a horde of 6 legged inhabitants flooded towards me. I kept my cool and the cache revealed itself. Very nicely done. TFTC
Out and about on a rainy day with my muggle husband to do the driving.
He thought I had taken leave of my senses when I accessed the cache. Even he liked this hide so a fave point from us.

Honed in on this quick smart. Went to look for it last night but there were people sitting in their car not far from gz so thought I'd leave it till the morning. Very cool can also get a fav from me.
I thought this would be too hard for me, and hadn't planned to stop for it, but after muggles swarming at the two previous GZs when I saw this one was muggle-free I thought I'd give it a go. Sadly no luck.

I was attending the CITO event and was still collecting rubbish. On my return to the car park there was a group milling round this gate so I offered to help. Soon had the cache in hand and a fave from me for a well concealed hide which had the noobs in our group completely flummoxed. TNLNSL TFTC
Attending the CITO and most of hadn't found this one, so it was a group effort, took a while to find it. Nice hide. Cheers.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... A cross country adventure. We are working our way down to a CITO event in Napier this afternoon...
We attended the nearby CITO, and this cache was conveniently placed. We kept coming back to the same spot, because our senses told us that something wasn't quite right. It took a closer inspection to reveal what was off kilter. After a bit of maneuvering, we had this one in hand... A very clever hide! TFTC.

Third time lucky! Thanks to the encouragements of our good friend @Purplegoosenz, we have now vanquished that one.

I am visiting Napier attending a 30 year reunion over the weekend and couldn't come all this way without a bit of caching.
After having a late breakfast in Havelock North and then a quick trip up Te Mata peak to see the views... it was time to work our way back to Napier.
While I was trying to locate this cache - hubby was very well entertained by a local in his jet boat - having a fantastic time burning a lot of fuel. I was struggling a bit - so he came to "help" (if thats what you call it) - but by now I was sure I had found the spot. Just needed a shield from a nearby family sitting in their car.
Very well hidden here. Not a chance of being muggled.
Took a TB - will transport back to Blenheim to further its travels.

The Three Amigos had planned this trip over several weeks we had a lot on our to do list all the bike trails all the puzzles in town except one we haven't solved all the night trails and all the wherigos plus any trads in between. There was one thing we ran out of while here and that was time so I guess we will be back another day.
We searched the obvious but wrong area first then we thought trust your GPS it hasn't lead us a stray on your caches before Dave and I discovered something and worked on it together to finally reveal the well hidden cache. Another favourite point for you Nick such great and different caches keep them coming for our next trip.

We've had this Tauranga to Hawkes Bay trip planned for a couple of months now and this cache was all part of our great *'numbers'* plan. This was our 11th find today after a busy 51 finds yesterday. I can't believe one man is sucking up all our favourites Dave & Bruce were somewhere else when I checked and discounted this area but it didn't take long before the boys showed me where I'd gone wrong. Simple and effective - great little hide. TNXPro, DavidsonClan and myself have signed the logs T3A, an acronym from our messenger chat 'The 3 Amigos'. Cheers Nick
