Because of the pandemic, many caches became
unmanageable in the time
needed to race out to them and I have not been able to
justify the time to keep this cache going.
I know you may be sad that this cache,
like many of it’s partners is going, but
sometimes it is an old cache that makes way for a new one.
Until next we meet on the caching trail, have an
extra special time caching. KD.

GZ closed off with SES tape due to recent storms, large dead branch still hanging and obviously going to fall. Damn!
I was lucky to be able to spy this cache fairly quickly once the gps has settled down. Nice parkland.
We brought the geobeagles to this lovely linear park for walkies today knowing that there would be lots of dogs for them to socialise with....they don't have to worry about social distancing unlike we humans. We parked in Hartland Way and then put on our facemasks before heading along the trail and then up the hill to GZ.
After a brief wander around GZ we spotted the cache, which was just hanging there fully exposed. We signed the log at 3:00 pm and then put it back as found. TNLN. We used hand sanitiser before and after finding the cache to stay safe.
We noticed that the last two logs were DNFs so we just want to say that the cache is still there and waiting to be found. Our GPSr was saying that the cache was only 5 to 6 metres from the given co-ords so probably in the correct location as it was a bit overcast today. However, we suspect it may not be as originally hidden as it doesn't have "clever camo", as mentioned in the cache description, and the hiding spot didn't quite match the hint but was close to it.
Thanks kangadrew72 for the cache, which you may want to check when the current restrictions have eased. After finding the cache we walked up the hill and the geobeagles found a "lone pine" teepee (see accompanying photo) with pine cones attached to the top of it, probably collected when the pine trees were removed. We then walked back down the hill and along the trail where the beagles met lots of canines.

Out for a drive, we stopped at this little parkland. An easy find in a very quiet place. Thanks kangadrew72
It’s so unfortunate that the council is removing so many of the old pine trees - you can really see that something is missing in this little piece of parkland. A nice location regardless, and a quick easy find - TFTC
Needed a final sapphire. Thanks for bringing me to a new area. Shame about the pines TFTC
Cute little bushland area lots of birds about today signed and put back thanks
Found @16:30 after circling GZ for a moment. Thank goodness for rite in the rain paper on days like today. TFTC!
Another kangadrew72 cache. You seem to own this area.
No muggles and no pine trees. I was happy to spot it and happy to sign in and leave. Should have used the path to get back to the school as that would have been quicker.

Day 1 without 'the Fixer' and I can't say I'm pining for Pyne. Far from it, and let's face it without this cache I wouldn't be thinking about it at all. But here I was in some pleasant afternoon sunshine, and while my GPS and map reading led me astray for a bit there weren't too many places for a hide and eventually I got there. Thanks kangadrew
This section feels strangely exposed compared to the surrounding areas, will be nice once some of the newly planted greenery matures. Nice quick find TFTC.
HOO RAH !! Another one bites the dust !! Found with Melbmatt50 on this GLORIOUS DAY !! SL, TFTC !! .. "The Things You Find Whilst Caching !! "
In typical Riddell style, we approached this from the wrong direction, then realized there is an easier way in.

The cache is still there and in tact.
I had trouble writing in the log because my pen wouldn't write on this kind of paper.

Found it, searched for a bit in one spot then the GPS jumped, found it pretty quickly when I was in the right spot.
I came on a warm weekday afternoon. It is quite open here but no one around. I looked in the wrong spot and then it jumped. After that, it didn't take too long to work out. TFTC
Also not successful. It was a half hearted search though on my way home with my daughter from school.
23/07/2017 18:46 It was late and I was worried about neighbours. I looked for quite awhile but still came up empty. Probably just me as I didn't even find a location that might have been the hide.
Find number 6034 at 5:33:17 pm
Need a couple of caches today to adjust my numbers in a positive way and this looks like a good one to help.
Another waterproof log, another X. Quick find.
**Thanks for placing this cache kangadrew72**

A quick and easy find as we cache our way through the area today. At least it was for Geoturtle37. I managed to look straight at it at and somehow not see it. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
Grabbing some caches with omegaman1971 today, while in this area. Went the wrong way but made the find.TFTC kangadrew72.

Out and about in the area with Happy feet cleaning up some caches. Strange little park, yep missed the best entry and went the long way.
Cheers for the cache

Very clever little hide. Tftc kangadrew. We ticked over a total of 200 caches today!

Out on a caching afternoon with jimbo_80.
Had a long look for this one, but turns out it's in the only place we hadn't looked. Well spotted jimbo!

This had us looking for a while but I eventually found the well hidden cache, thank you!
We found this cache today at 4:05pm as number 15 of 21 on our Eltham Exploration Afternoon III. Bounced back and forth between two spots but soon located it. Our 2nd visit to this spot having found "Luck Dog's Favourite Place" by LuckDogsCrew back in 2007. Thanks from D & HA B-A.
Took me a while to find this. I skimmed over it a few times but it wasn't until I gave it a deeper look I found it
I was in the area so I thought that I would conduct a couple of 'park & grabs'. A quick find. TNLN. TFTC.
We often walk here with our greyhound but hadn't retrieved this cache. It was a quick find and there was no-one much around near teatime on a hot afternoon. TFTC
A quick walk in, G' headed for a very likely looking spot while I chose another, with the GPS trying to make it's mind up where GZ was. Nothing obvious was found so we swapped and still had no luck... I checked the hint and logs and had a good lead which proved correct.
This took quite a while for Quiet1_au and myself to locate. We arrived at Gz and were not sure which object to try. After looking at each spot around the area we were still no wiser. Eventually Q had a closer look at something I had rejected and found the cache. Well hidden, and guarded by creatures. Thanks kangadrew72

Spiffy- and I were out and about caching withe the aim of getting a few of the Eltham caches and a couple we had solved. This cache was anothe straight forward find for us. Thanks kangadrew72 for the cache.
Fleabag- and I headed out today for a few hours to pickup a couple of puzzles we have had solved plus then grab whatever else we found on our travels in the area. Had a few DNF's today on everything that was difficulty 2 today for some reason. Everything else we had virtually no problems finding.
Headed in the easy downhill way and once at GZ I braved the spider webs and made the find. On the way back we would have been attacked by a very aggressive poodle if not for the fence in between us.
Thanks kangadrew72 for the cache, the hunt and the fun.

A busy few weeks on the home and work fronts meant I was crawling the walls to the point of annoying the better half... so I got told to take a long walk.
I hadn't visited Eltham for quite a while, so it had built up a fair concentration of hides. The town is also riddled with pedestrian shortcuts, so quite a fun place to explore. 22 caches and and as many kilometers later, I finished in the dark, with a very flat phone battery and a big grin.
The walk north was definitely enhanced by the history lessons on the way, as well as the navigation challenge. I'm glad I did it this way, as I feel I got more out of these caches than I would have driving around.
Nicely hidden... it took a second look to realise that I had been right the first time, just hadn't investigated properly.

Suscoe was in Melbourne for a few days staying in this area.
The weather was pleasant for caching with some sunny breaks, cloud at times and a gentle breeze to keep things mild.
Ideal weather really for an enjoyable wander about the streets and parkland areas.
We enjoyed doing the many caches we found and appreciated the work done by the many cache owners.
This is an area of Melbourne that we haven't visited much and we were amazed by the hilly nature of the ground, the steep driveways, and the trees.
Our beaut day continued here with a find and sign.

Out and about with Mrs 80degrees for girlie afternoon caching. While Mrs 80 was on the phone I took the short walk to GZ I was using my ipad was I started looking in the wrong spot. Once I widened my short I soon found the tricky little hide. Thanks for another excellent cache kangadrew72
This was an afternoon of caching for the ladies of 80degrees and xambo4u. We spent the afternoon looking for many caches in this immediate area with great success. Took a little longer than it should TFTC
No more pines, but a couple of council workers made me circle the area until they were nice enough to leave and a could get in for a quick find. TFTC.
Second on this lunchtime escape and I thought it would all go sour with a council worker spraying weeds nearby. Thankfully a fortuitous phone call as I was approaching GZ gave me the 'cover' I needed and I soon spotted the nicely hidden stash at 13:45.
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks kangadrew72.

I'm sure the area will be lovely when all the new plantings grow but right now it looks a bit raw....

I often seem to take the difficult route and my approach to this cache certainly wasn't the easiest. I parked in Wycliffe Cres. and then walked DOWN a narrow track between two houses. On arriving at GZ I saw a suitable location but after close inspection I could not locate the cache. I then thought about similar hides and spent another 10 minutes looking unsuccessfully. A quick look at the clue and I had the log in my hand.
Thank you kangadrew72 for showing me more of Eltham.
Thank you kangadrew72 for showing me more of Eltham.
Still going on my successful run around Eltham town on my bike. The hills get a bit steep once you leave the main street. Thanks Kangadrew72
Thanx for the hide.

Geokid#1 and I had 5 minutes to fill before heading home. Rather than driving in a straight line home, she suggested that we quickly look for the St Margarets cache as every time we have attempted that one the gardener has been at work right next to GZ. Thinking that surely we couldn't get third time unlucky, we did. There he was working hard on a Sunday. Disappointed Geokid checked for caches that we still needed to find and begged that we squeeze more time in to our day. As we walked up the hill towards this GZ, we noted two suspicious people actively engaged with their phones and hanging around the GZ. They had to be cachers. We had muggles written all over us, with Geokid holding a Boost Juice and me holding my handbag. Possibly thinking that they had been muggled, the other cachers ran off before we could get close to say hi. A quick find by Geokid. Thanks for another cached Kangadrew.
I must admit that as we walked into this park, and headed towards GZ, the title seemed somewhat out of sorts given the landscape! Until I read the notes of course....
At GZ I was equally befuddled. Clue seemed to line up with something, but no cache to be found. So trekked around, tried options, guessed at alternative definitions before cycling_guy pulled up the goods. Don't know how i missed that!
As cycling_guy said, felt a tad conspicuous with the darn mega-lumens torch

It was a cold and wet Melbourne night, the fire place was warm.....Oh bugger it, time for a night Cache run with Happy Chappies
We decided to hit a small patch of Eltham that didn't have smiley faces.
This was 5th of 10 for the night. With party filled houses over looking this park, we felt that we were on show with our torches flashing around. After a little bit of searching, we found the tricky hide.

Went for a walk after finding a Cache nearby with 2peasinapod2012. Love this area, great walking tracks tucked away everywhere!! A good hide too.
A quick find since the container was uncovered in its spot and could be seen on approach. We've covered it up a bit more and hope the cover will stay put this time. TFTC.
i headed out the back of Eltham today to knock off 4 caches,
I started walking to the wrong tree!!!
Thanks kangadrew72 [:x]

Rebel Acts and I had a night of caching after quite a few weeks off. A number of good caches were found including this one. Thanks
Found at 13:57
Next on the list. Navigating the small windy streets I found a kindly parking spot and made my way to gz where I quickly find the nicely hidden cache. Signed, replaced and back on the road. I'm getting on a roll now.
Thanks again kangadrew72.

Needed a break from work so I thought I would stop and pick up a few geocaching on the way home. This area seems to be a little insane at the moment with the amount of caches being published. Best get a few more smiley faces in place. TFTC
Parked in nearby st and only had to walk down the path and down the hill to cache, a lot of muggle dogs in nearby houses barking.. so was quick before we drew any attention.

Found with my eldest geoson as we picked up a few caches around Eltham today, this one was soon located after a little poking about and logged, thanks kangadrew72 for the cache.
We found ourselves in an embryonic park mostly cleared and with substantial replanting that left not a lot of choice for GZ. Yet we still had to forage around before recognising a careful hide at 14:50. However we improved the camo when replacing as Mrs LZZ is wont to do. TFTC
Found @ 1430hrs.
Thanks kangadrew72 for this search bringing me to an area I had not been to before.

Stopped past here on way home from airport and it fills a missing day in my calendar. Parked in Hartland way and walked down with pa_i_ge. We circled the tree a few times then tried another tree before coming back and then pa_i_ge spotted it, well below my eye level .
Thanks for the cache here, having driven past many times , I have never walked this path before

Having heard the phone go off this afternoon with some new caches, and having a day off from work, I was always going to go for the chase of a FTF.
Knowing that Long John Silva works in the area I decided to go for the second cache that was published first, thinking that most people would go in order (I know I would). And it is a good thing I did. I picked up our 14th FTF on that cache then headed the short distance to this one. I parked the car and found a little path to the GZ.
The cache itself took me longer than it should to find. I had checked the hint but was looking in the wrong spot. Then I made the find, opened up the container and......... beaten.
So STF @ 1520, just 20 minutes after Long John Silva.
Thanks for another great hind Kangadrew72, I am sure I will get to log many more of your caches. And congratulations Long John Silva on your FTF.
