TFTC dandent your cache ... tribute to a local Snake Charmer that we found today. Out on the bikes with Team JLBL, Snakepitters, DiMorgan and Liz and Bruce. Did a circuit on the Bluewater bike trail. Successful morning riding and walking when required. We did end up with a few DNFs but these had not been found for 12 months or more.Find Count: 20406

TFTC I made the find this morning with Geoboy1 before the heat of the day kicked in. I stamped the log and replaced it as found.
This one has been solved along time ago so today we decided to find some old caches, nice walk to this cache, signed and replaced. TFTC
It’s about time I began to head home after the Townsville mega, so here I am in Mackay. The weather was certainly not put on for me though! Thanks for the puzzles, the caches, the different to the usual finds dandent. I liked the contents of this cache.
This was a really fun puzzle to solve. What an interesting bit of history about one of the locals here, and what a difference he made.
All good at GZ. Log signed.
Thanks dandent

Well that was an adventure. Got the clues easy enough. Found out how to use Go To on phone and discovered the bush. Decided to go through parkland in the opposite direction and doubled our distance. Eventually discovered the cache and the walkway that was nearby. Lol TFTC
We are currently travelling along Queensland‘s coast on a short vacation. Of course some target caches were also on the list of must do’s along the way and this was one of them. Thank you very much for placing this geocache.
Nice area. Certainly worth the person it is honouring

Enjoyed solving this puzzle and finding out about Raj. A straight forward find after the work.
Our second full day out and about in Mackay with Temingi. Yesterday we broke 13,000 finds and in the next few days Temingi is hoping to crack 14,000. Not too sure why we’re helping him when our eventual goal is to reach and then pass him! Still, it’s always good to go out caching with like minded mates. If nothing else, the stories are always good to share.
We want to say thanks to all the local cache owners for placing these caches for us to find. Without you this wonderful pastime wouldn’t exist. We certainly appreciate your efforts in developing, placing and maintaining all the caches. We have lots of fun and plenty of exercise thanks to you.

Gotcha !!! Had this one solved a few days after it was published . Now a few days caching with SKI Pair in Mackay area. TFTC
Found as I meander my way from Adelaide to Cairns.
With no real travel plan and three weeks to get there before I meet up with friends, there has been plenty of opportunity for sightseeing and finding a few selected caches along the way.
The puzzle was one of many solved prior to leaving home in preparation for my trip. Although my itinerary when I travel is generally very fluid, I do like to have a menu of pre-solved puzzles that I can target along the way.
This one was a nice quick find at GZ.
Thanks dandent for the puzzle and the cache.

After a weekend of working on mystery caches and having solved and found The Imitation Game yesterday decided to give this one a go.
After working through the puzzle, journeyed out to hopefully find the cache.
Tide is out and so lots of sand to be seen.
Thank for the puzzle to solve and the interesting facts found along the way along with the journey made to retieve the cache.
Co-ordinates spot on for a easy find once the puzzle was solved.
Fitting cache to tribute the Snake Charmer.

With overseas travel currently out of the question and state border closures still a lurking as possibilities, my family and some close friends decided that travelling from Brisbane to North Queensland was our best option for a Christmas/New Year escape.
Following a few nights each in Clifton Beach and Port Douglas we were now on the southwards run towards home with a stop planned at Cape Hillsborough for a couple of nights.
Unfortunately the weather here was not very accommodating with heavy rain falling most of time since arriving. I decided to head off to Mackay for a day of caching, where the weather was forecast to be a little less wet.
Thankfully no encounters with snakes at this cache although I did nearly tread on one a couple of days ago looking for [this cache.](https://coord.info/GC1XQ3A) Survived to tell the tale and was able to visit and sign the logbook here today. TFTC

I do remember Ram Chandra - fascinating guy. Certainly did something I would never have done. Nice to re-visit. This cache was located only a short hop from being all at sea.
Log signed and cache replaced as found on December 3, 2020. TFTC, dandent

I am on a solo road trip from Brisbane to Townsville to deliver a newly car purchased car for my hard working niece - her first car!
After a big drive as far as Mackay yesterday, my plan is to take the whole day to drive to Townsville and collect some interesting cache, especially puzzles, virtual caches and earth caches along the way.
Interesting bloke. I will admit - with all that talk about snakes, it was a nervous old walk through the long grass to make this find.
Many thanks dandent

3/7/20 17:32 I knew I had to go after this one as soon as i read the title. Met the man in Mount Isa when I was still in cubs, many decades ago. Was in awe then, and whilst I’ve never needed to be treated for snakebite, certainly still wary that they can kill, and this guy did so much educating and research on them.!Thanks for placing this cache dandent
I am horrible at solving puzzles independently but I was able to do this one. I have never heard of this amazing man before. I hate snakes but it is nice knowing we have the anti-venom I can accident where to occur. Thanks Dandent.
Found with greencordial, she seemed a little hesitant about finding this one but jumped in to find it! A few cobwebs but adds to the adventure! TFTF!
new cache finally in play ... apologies
and I saw a snake on the way back from GZ too
a little red belly black snake

looks like this one has slithered off again as well.

Traipsed around in the long grass for hours - yesterday afternoon and this morning. Very frustrating not to find it. Especially as I thought I had it but it was just a sharps container, complete with used needles. Sigh.
out doing some maintenance on a few of my caches
wandered out and retrieved burnt cache, rescuing the critters inside
replaced with a new cache
all good again
but no pen.
logging some TB's through too

F(H)ound it! #2869 @ 11:20 AM
We are visiting Mackay from Queanbeyan with the two geohounds for a few restful days. The Reluctant-Geospouse, Muggle-Sister-Out-Law and two geohounds joined me for a few caches around Mackay.
Well this one was interesting and definitely got my heart pumping. As we approached GZ we saw that the local scrub had been burnt and sure enough the cache was in all that burnt area. Undetered we marched on, I got a wiff of something rotten but I was focused on retriving cache. Then I nearly leapt out of my skin as I nearly trod on a cooked carpet python. I didn't realise it was dead straight away - that would explain the smell. And just 2m from a cache dedicated to a snake charmer, how cool!. Unfortunately the container is just melted enough for me to be unable to remove the lid to sign. However logbook looked intact within. I will PM a photo as evidence of find
Thanks for the cache dandent

Container has been melted by fire in the area. The logbook looks OK but the container is no longer weather proof.

I was about to give up and spotted the very well hidden (buried) cache about 6 metres from my indicated GZ.
Almost 2 years since it last saw the light of day and still in good condition.
Thanks

Truly a charming cache
I learned a lot about this local identity and his amazing lifetime's work [^]
And with all the answers found,
and a set of coords to head for this morning,
I slithered out there on the pushbike
A quick find under the SPOTL.
But full of water due to the zip-lock bag being stuck under the seal of the cache
Fortunately the zip-lock bag kept the logbook nice and dry
With the water drained out,
and the logbook signed,
I took a bit more care to reseal the cache so it should stay dry now [^]
TFTC,
deserves a fave point for the history [^]

In Mackay for the AFL on this weekend and trying to pick up some caches to boost the numbers.
Solved a few of Dandent's puzzles - The ones I could actually manage without help and with limited time (they are all very time consuming the evening before coming down.
I enjoyed reading the history behind this one. Nice idea.

Beautiful day for a stroll on the beach. Found it quickly as muggles were near by. Forgot pen will sign soon
Day 5 Mackay .
After spending many hours solving puzzles today we set out to find them. Picked up a few others along the way.
I recall Ram Chandra from when I was young, it was good to learn some of his history.
A nice walk to the cache, hubby took his snake deterrent stick with him

Had this one solved for a while but just needed to go for a walk to get it. Thanks Dan.
NOT found in the last place we looked . Actually we weren't sure if it was this one we didn't find cause we've solved a few of these puzzle caches and we don't know which coordinates match which cache until we find it. We could definitely imagine snakes hiding in the grass here though. We only had about 10 minutes or so to look cause we had to catch a movie and unfortunately we had to leave this one and the one closer to the beach for another time. We've only got a day and a half left in Mackay though so hopefully it's sooner rather than much much later.
Solved this one after a lot of research. What an amazing man. Great puzzle. Found it after a bit of a search. What a surprise when we opened up this cache. Deserves a favourite from us.
Thanks for setting this one up, dandent.

Passed Mackay today, this was on top of my list as it is the only part of the X that I have not logged.
A familiar parking place and a short walk to GZ, as always the container was full of goodies
Sad that I missed the event here the other day, but that was more than 1000kms too early for me this time.
Thanks dan for this lesson and cache, look forward to next time here

After our find yesterday, I went home and solved this one,
nah got it wrong.[?]
oh I see what I did..
got it now [^]
I remember Ram from when he came out to Mums house at Grasstree many years ago, He removed a children's python from the house, several actually[XX(]. 1, I seem to recall hadn't been seen before.
They also told us they had to remove any ticks that were on the snakes before relocating them, they had a few who would have thought.
finding the cache was easy enough, parked in the same place as yesterday [l)] did a quick check of area you messaged me about , nothing its gone our replacement still ok [^]. walking to GZ we didn't see any slithery thing for which I'm extremely grateful. Ratdog not very brave and walked close behind me all the way. so much so I hit her with my stick several times.
easy find at GZ, cache well stocked, lucky as we had left our offerings in the car it seems. Neither of us got them out after we had separated them from the pac [:(!]
TFTP again Dan filling 2 holes for us. gotta get our D/T up to 1.8/1.8
Fav for Ram not for snakes

another puzzle bites the dust. snakes are not my foray don't like them at all.
but the information was very interesting, I found out a lot about famous people who lived in the Mackay region because of this puzzle.
TFTP no snakes were harmed finding this cache.

A gorgeous stroll along the beach this arv to end a great day of caching. The kids were amused by a little sandpiper bird trying to distract us away from his eggs by dragging his wing across the sand. Such clever little things. The only snakes we saw were plastic!
Wandered down to sign the log after geo-dad and Miss geo's visit earlier this week. Everything as it should be, took nothing, left a few snake friends.

While I solved the puzzle last night and didn't feel like wandering about in the wilderness at night (Miss Geo was all for it?) and with Miss Geo and Geo-dad both having the day off I sent them off to find the prize while I did the 9 to 5 bit. Received a photo promptly at 9am with a wee message to say they were STF! Darn it, Dave!!!!! Miss Geo says the pen doesn't work and they didn't have one on them so we have a pic if needed and Miss Geo and I will discover the cache (properly well equipped) over the weekend. Thanks Dan for the cache, I remember Ram Chandra well. I once came across a snake in my house one fine evening and I thought of Ram and wished he was still here to rescue me from my position on the kitchen bench top An amazing man.
