**WARNING!!!** Two reasons to take very good care here: area of recent rockfalls, and worse: parking area situated on road bend with poor visibility of oncoming high speed traffic when pulling back out onto the road .
It's been a while since TW and I have been able to fit in a 'Mad Monday Mission'.......and it looked like this Monday wasn't a goer either...but TW suggested Sunday evening & 8Manafter was keen to join the fun as well.....what to do...what to do......head to Arthurs Pass of course?! What else on a 'Mad Mission'?! Lovely warm walk, a cold walk, a 'picnic', 5 FTFs, 300km, home by 1am. "No Worries".
Nearby for a couple nighttime FTFs and stopped here for a quick find and sign.....nice one & congrats on the 100 finds; all the best for the next 100....(500...1000....2000....3000.... addictive huh?! lol)......

#2,593: Drive-by Smiley!
Out for a Sunday Mad Mission with Team_Gaters and TheWanglers. I saw this one pop up on the GPS as we approached, and called out, so we stopped to make the find. After a short search, TG made the find. All in good shape!

Monday Night wasn't going to work for me for a Mad Monday Mission so I contacted TG and 8MA to see if they'd be keen for a Mission on a lovely Sunday evening instead? Doh, silly question. Of course! Plans were made, provisons stocked, tanks filled, batteries charged/replaced. TG came and grabbed me just on 7pm. We headed over to 8MA's and hit the road. The Mish tonight was head up to Arthurs Pass (not quiet that far, just to Bealy Corner). We had our sights on five possible FTFs. Two were PnGs and the other three required a bit of a walk. The night started off with a spectacular moonrise and lovely drive I believe TG said we did 308km for the night. Not only did we have a great time we scored five FTFs and a few other odds and sods and even had a midnight picnic by moonlight on top of a hill. Made a quick stop to score this one enroute to our next 'walk n grab'
Thanks for the cache RAYZR2.

Congratulations on your 100 finds - that is quite a milestone. I note you have completed several more since then so look forward to finding the 1000 finds cache soon. Couldn't see the smilely face but I definitely have one. Cheers. TFTC #8758
Our only caching stop on the way home to ChCh because of the very suitable parking. Congrats on the 100, and I remember your MO from some of your hides from down South. Mustv'e taken some preparation. Thanks.
Bye bye Greymouth. We had a fantastic Queens Birthday weekend. Now it is time to head back to Christchurch. We walked half way up Temple Basin earlier in the day. I looked this one up at lunchtime. It said it had decent parking. So this was one of the few caches we stopped off for. Another classic hide. Thanks for the cache.
A nice, quick find & a good hiding spot. We couldn't see the smiley face but it didn't matter, the GPS lead us right to it. TFTC.
The first of an incidental 58 smiles on a day with Karma Reprint going to help my parents shift house. Nice view in the morning, it'd be better once the fog lifts. Cheers
First find for the day @7:13. All wet in Canterbury, weather getting better all the way to the Coast. A quick find thanks.
Found on a raid to the Coast with Kiwi Moose. Signed the log KM+KR or KR+KM to save log space.
Thanks to all the CO's for their hides.

Heading to klondyke to finish off the 172 ° challenge and grabbing a few along the way which I missed the last time.
No that's a trademark hide that I recognize not a bad location either. Tftc

Ninth find of the day!
We were out today going around the South Island, finding some caches. This was the ninth cache we found. We found the best point of entry to the cache from where we were.
After parking the car nearby, we headed off to GZ. A quick search resulted in a find with spot on coordinates. I stealthily retrieved the cache, signed the logbook and replaced it as I found it.
Thanks for the nice easy cache.
Took: Nothing
Left: Nothing
Coordinates were perfect and contents and cache were in good condition.
Well done.

On way home from West Coast after seeing family before Christmas. Geocaching certainly helps break up the journey. TFTC
Those milestones are so good to get. I see you are now on another round number, 400. Well done. Happy Caching and thank you for placing this one

See JacqiB's log below - glad to be able to find a cache on the way. Although it was later than we planned, it was kind of fun looking for it in the dark. Tftc.
Mega trip to NZ: day 4, alone with my beloved squib. We stopped on our way to Christchurch. Thanks for the fun and greetings from Finland.
For reasons we'd rather forget Jaeh68 and I left Ashburton for Arthur's Pass much, much later than we had intended. We wanted to get at least one cache on the way and this sounded like a fun one. We hoped to get there before the light went. We pulled over, left the car lights on and found the cache by the lights from a phones. Very happy. TFTC.
Caching our way over to Greymouth and back during the long weekend, the aim being to complete a GIC licence and also grab more BtG caches. I think the final tally will be north of 200 for the weekend. Stunning day for a road trip.
** Fossicked around about for a wee while but got there in the end **

That is a well built cache, and the first one we picked up on this trip.
Cheers and thanks,

After a busy week at work I needed some fresh air so was off on a caching mission with Shannonp1. This was one of thirty odd caches for the day most of which required a decent walk. Quickly collected on our way past.
We stopped on the way to our event at Castle Hill today and made this much harder than a D1. We were looking for a much bigger smiley than that and Mum actually found the cache before the smiley and then had to point it out to me. Thanks for the cache and welcome to the addiction called geocaching (the first 100 are usually the hardest and its a proud milestone)
Happy to be 2TF, this one would have been trickier a week ago when the snow was deeper... Mr went straight past, Mrs TS made the find on a cracking Saturday morning in the hills
{*FTF*} [11:12] Today's trip was from Christchurch to Greymouth (one way)... planned it the morning of and making it up as I go along. Set off at about 6am, as my bad luck would have it, last night was one of the coldest nights in years for most parts of the country, so no surprise there was black ice throughout central Christchurch. Wasn't too bad the rest of the way however, I stopped in Darfield for a while to wait for the sun to come up - hard snow on the ground from here onwards. The contractors had done a great job keeping the highway passable. Arrived in Greymouth at about 5pm.
Usually when I go on Geocaching drives I include any potential FTFs in my list with a big red flag next to them - "must get." I forgot to check for any unfound/new caches this time, so when I pulled up here and didn't see any recent logs other than the published log it was a welcome surprise! It took a bit of scrambling in the hard snow but I spotted the smiley (literally) after not too long. There was another car stopped in the rest area and I thought I was going to have to wait for him to bugger off as he was down the road a bit further taking photos. He ended up going further away and out of sight so I was able to search without worry. Got a picture of my own - snow capped mountains peeping through the fog with the river in the foreground and deep dark blue sky behind - nice! No wonder he was taking photos! TFTC (2080)
