I love squeezing every last second out of public holidays which usually combine with RDO's at work. So, with a 4 day long weekend in the offing, a few weeks ago I reviewed my adventure wish list and decided that a solo hike of Carnarvon Gorge and specifically Battleship Spur would fit the bill.Viko Cz subsequently messaged me to say he was back in Australia for business for a few weeks and had some weekends free for a geocaching adventure, and was also keen to visit Carnarvon. On Anzac Day, we travelled from Roma to Carnarvon and hiked out to Big Bend, visiting as many of the side attractions as we had time for including Boolimba Bluff. Yesterday, we climbed Battleship Spur in the morning and then spent a lazy afternoon enjoying the gorge at Big Bend. We got an early start this morning and refreshed with a good nights sleep, some breakfast and lighter packs, we made very good time back down the gorge stopping at the Moss Garden along the way. After visiting Mickey's creek Gorge, we finally hit the road, stopping at the Rolleston pub for lunch. We are aiming for a night at the Cracow pub, so that leaves the opportunity for a few caches around Moura and Theodore. This one was a little off the beaten track, especially approaching from the north. We arrived here just as the sun was setting and enjoyed the magnificent view. There has been a lot of rain here , so the grass at GZ was waist high. Viko Cz waded through it to GZ and made the quick find. After a good break to stretch the legs, we hit the road into Theodore and then on to Cracow. TFTC Rock Dok.Pete#7,875

#5728 [17:14] our extended weekend with crookedpete is ending, the main mission "exploring carnarvon gorge" is over and now we're heading back to brisbane via a bit of side road to enjoy more of local country side and more caches Smile and this was one of them. thanks a lot of placing it here, it's always good to have some reason to stretch legs during long drive.

Today's geocaching adventure brought me to a poignant location a lookout. The cache container,, was still intact. It served as a symbol of the indomitable spirit of geocaching. Careful search and determination led me to its discovery. Inside, I found the logbook.I'd like to express my gratitude to the cache owner for placing this cache in a location that serves as a reminder of the strength of both nature and the geocaching community.Until the next adventure,

Took the time to drive up the dirt track to the top of the hill. Only a small amount of water over the creek crossing, so wasn't too risky! A few rough spots along the road, but generally in very good condition.
Such a lovely view on this warm sunny day.
Thanks for taking us there.

Travelling from Bogabilla to Gladstone as part of our 'north for warmer weather' trip (North East Vic to Central Qld).
Thanks to all COs who have provided caches along the way.

Driving from Miles to Charters Towers Mr CNQ took a diversion to this cache. The Southern end of this road is a little wild after rain, but got there and out the other end towards Moura ok. Cache was fine, view was overcast and showery. Thanks for the cache Rock Dok.

We are on the way North to escape the winter chill.

I love to see activities and the big trucks and machinery.

idiotLairds found it!

@1141 2 APR 2022

Nice spot, great view!

Found this one solo, without the usual other idiotLairds!

No 'path' to the cache that I could see - if there is one, its over grown now!

Also No pen/pencil in the cache any more either - and because I'm flying solo and carrying the pen is usually Mels job (my excuse and I'm sticking to it ), I couldn't sign the physical log!!

Never mind, will just have to come back at some stage!!

TFTC!!

While having a break in Theodore we had a look to see what caches were around and this one caught our interest. Lovely view from here.

Grey nomads, after spending way too much time in Far North Queensland, now we spent the night in Rolleston. No caches in Rolleston, so on we went this morning. Moura was going to be our stopover, but the PUMA was close, and had been for a while..... so we had to detoure via Banana to get to Theodore. dropped off the caravan, and took a bumpy drive to this fantastic lookout.

The cache was an easy find just - follow the brush cuttered trail!!!

Thanks Rock Dok. Fav point for the view

Setting off for Springsure this morning and grabbed this one before we left the Sports and Rec. Had some nice drizzle last night. Its good to see it, as the ground needs a little more.

Got to be one of the best lookouts i have been to in a while - very few trees blocking the view , level parking spaces , a picnic table to do the signing of the logbook and the cache container is large enough to leave some swag . 2 X TB’s Visited. Signed logbook kingfisherau 1:45 pm 7/5/19 and replaced all as found,

We are staying at the recreation grounds and drove out to find this cache on a showery day. After a short distance along the dirt track we came across a wet black soil slope and decided it was not worth getting the ute filthy, so retreated and left it for another day if we come back here. What a pity, it would have been nice to check out the lookout.

I have attached three photos to encourage you to visit this site.

GPS decided to take us on a long way round on 20 km of dirt road starting at River Road just outside Moura and lead us to Burnside McLaren Road back onto Moura Theodore Road until we turned onto the lookout road.
Finally arrived at GZ and only took a few minutes to find the container and sign the log.
Geopartner took some photos of the countryside.

Left Nanango at 4 am on the 7th September and then journeyed via Condamine, Injune, Roma, Mitchell, Augathella, Longreach, Barcaldine, Emerald, Rockhampton, Moura, Theodore and today down to Eidsvold and home to Nanango. Today I drove 487k's in 8hours finding 27 caches between Moura and Eidsvold. total journey took 6 days and 15 hours and a total cache finds of 185.

Found all the Moura ones yesterday and today this was my second find for the day on the road to Theodore. Quick find and all good with this one. Very good views from up here. I am glad the weather was fine as the GPSr took me along this black soil track. TFTC Rock Dok
