Murkel and me stayed on a campground nearby. On our way north to Seaforth we stopped here and found this cache easily. Thanks for the cache
We stayed over night at the Clairview campground. Heading further north, we made a few stops to find caches and to shop. This one, close to the campground, was an easy find. Thanks a lot for this cache,Murkel,on tour with Muckel1 27. September 2024 09:41
The Trip: Brisbane to Townsville. Delivering a car, bought in Brisbane, to friends in Townsville. Apparently Townsville sucks as a place to buy cars but it does turn out to be a Geocaching mecca!Day 1 (yesterday) of the drive was a 12 hour slog through rain and never ending potholes. Turns out it was a rain event with the heaviest falls since 1999 is some areas. Which I might have known about has I bothered to listen to the news . But it did make for an exciting drive. The early trick I learned was to *always* make sure I had gunea pig cars in front of me to follow and watch as they dodged potholes (some nearly the size of the whole lane )I stayed overnight at the Barracrab Caravan Park at Clairview, a lovely old park with a restaurant/bar right on the beach and started out first thing in the morning to find this, my fourth cache of the trip, on Day 2Took me a moment on this one until I remembered a previous cache in Brisbane using a similar type hiding spot. And voila there it was
The drive back to Brisbane was very much a long one and a wet one. We managed to stop off at a few on the way home just to have a break from the drive, as we had collected a fair few on the way up, the stops were very selective. The rain and the sprays from the trucks did put a serious film on the windscreen to which meant we had to stop and clean a couple of times. We were making good time even with the stops and the rain. We planned to meet up with Granny in rocky so it was just a few along the way and cleaning up bottles and cans along the road side where we stopped. However I did have a couple of target caches for a particular purpose. This was a nice find in the rain today and another in the series, lol. Logs were signed and all caches were replaced as found, thanks for the hides and the fun we had here today.
No sharks, no crocs but found a cache quickly. *The generic bit for this trip*We are on now on our way south after heading north for warmer weather. From Cooktown back to Notth East Victoria, weaving inland and to the coast, caching as we go. No real plans, just taking each day as it comes and enjoying the adventure in our converted ambulance. Thanks to all COs for placing and maintaining caches for our enjoyment.
swift find one of my old hunting grounds plenty of fish and crabs to be had here in times gone bye, signed log at 11.132 am ,TFTC
Bonus find! Coconuts, sloshing full of water, in the rubbish tip.Beware! Green ants at cache. Ouchies TFTC!
As we leave Mackay, we head for Rockhampton. I enjoyed finding the cache even though the weather was warm Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache Nedandmrskelly.
After spending the night in Clairview I collected some caches in the morning. Easy find.TFTC

Dropped into Clairview as a break on a southbound road trip. Picked up a couple of caches while here. TFTC
On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird (aka Mrs Geo). It’s a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria
And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

We didn't spot any sharks or crocs, but with the tide right out, there was a large turtle swimming around in the pool like area at the bottom of the boat ramp

Found it after looking at that place several times before haha, no crocs or sharks
Not sure the track was deiveable in a 2wd but it wasn't a drama. Easily found. Muliple pieces of log paper. TFTC
No crocs thank God! We very hesitantly walked over to the target location. All good. All in good condition.
A keen eye....I spotted it from the car as we drove around the turning area. Tftc
Very quiet here this afternoon. We are the only ones around. A nice easy find. Now Mr Herbz is off to look for a croc! TFTC
Arriving at ground zero there aren't many targets to choose from.
So while Buttons wanders off towards the boat ramp I check there is no one around and start the search.
Considering I can see it even before I get to my target I'm a little disappointed.
I get the log signed and try and hide it a little better. Quite hard as there is little cover, but at least it can't be seen from the road now.
Now where did Buttons get to.

What a journey to find this cache, it in a great hinding spot on a long day out along with other cashes
Great Northern escape 2022 Day 109. Clairview Day 1. I spent the first part of the morning doing the caches along the Clairview shore line. Then I headed south to St Lawrence, where the nearest store is. Still wanting a few more to fill in my morning, I headed west up the Croyden road to the beginning of the range.
The three caches along the shore here are great places to see the magnificent beach of this village.
Thanks for the cache Nedandmrskelly

A nice coastal detour to grab a few caches brought us here today. Swearah had the keen eye and spotted this one rather quickly. Tftc Nedandmrskelly️

TFTC. We are making our way to Townsville for the Mega at Easter. As we make our way up we are stopping to find caches between our overnight stops. Always good to stop to stretch our legs. And find a cache as well.
After Covid cancelled our plans to attend the Wangaratta mega, a decision was made to stay in Qld and head North on a road trip to CQ instead.
Find #12064 @ 13:44
Thanks Nedandmrskelly for giving us a reason to visit.

I wasn't sure if I could get the motorhome in here so parked out near the road and walked in to grab the cache, ants off the nearby tree attacked as I brushed the branch to grab the container.

Needs new log and container, I dried out for now til next rain but container is split.
Not exactly a nano, we completely missed it at first cause we were too busy looking for something tiny! Still a good find
Could next cacher please take new paper and small plastic bag as paper is wet. TFTC
Nice little tucked away spot , tide right out so doesn't seem too serviceable as a boat ramp! Tftc
On the second leg of a GC trip with Drennostar on our way to a wedding. On our way to Sarina via the back roads.
A great little park and grab. TFTC!

A nice drive-by even with the caravan on. Lucky there was no one else about!
A beautiful area we normally would have just driven past on the highway. Thankfully there were neither sharks or crocs around today
Today is another moving day. We have left St Lawrence and are slowly meandering northwards. The next few days we will be staying in Koumala while we try and attach the trails around there. St Lawrence was a good place to stop for a few days at the wetland reserve. Good clean amenities, not crowded with shade and picnic tables dotted around the area. Very cheap as well.
We are enjoying the scenery and the places w3 have seen on our way north. The geo caching trails have highlighted a number of different areas we have just driven past on our previous trips. Being shut out of Victoria (our home state) at present due to Covid restrictions means we have plenty of time to relax and take it easy and find lots of caches! Our thanks and appreciation goes out to the local CO’s for their efforts in placing and maintaining all the local caches we have found. Well done and thank you.

After staying in Carmila overnight I continued my journey south through the rain and stopped here and there to grab a cache and this was one of them. Nice and quiet at the ramp and once at GZ the cache was soon in hand.
Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

Been to Palm Cove and Yungaburra with my sister and 95yr old Mum and are now heading home. Remembered that this would be a great place to stop for lunch. Got this one that geohubby didn’t want to do on the way up!!!! Nice easy find and the only crocs we spotted were on my feet . Thanks nedandmrskelly for the cache.
Yes that is fairly unattractive water to be swimming in. I wasnt going to leave this one undone even though it meant coming back across the railway again.
Thank you very much for this little series, it broke our journey up nicely.

Day 2 of my drive back to Brisbane. I have been past Clairview so many times over the last 40 years but was always in a hurry. Today it was time for a break. Missed the northern entry so did these caches the other way around. Began the slow drive along the esplanade looking for spots to get a closer look at the view. TFTC
Tftc NedandmrsKelly , no Crocs seen today, not saying they aren't here tho. Saw a cache. SL.
