Found the plaque after taking the wrong path. And then understood the clue but didn't find it. Looked all around the Bush and the tall grass but no luck. DNF
After finding GC6X9C7, we went down the hill to this cache. When we got to the plaque mentioned in the hint we went the wrong way (). But then we backtracked and reread the hint. Went the right way and found the cache. TFTC
Thought the coordinates were off but then figured out what was meant by 4 o’clock. TFTC!
COs are so knowledgeable, who would have known about this place? The cache was found in plain sight and rehidden where I think? the CO intended. A favourite :TFTC
We were heading in the direction of Diamond Harbour today and stopped here to look for this cache. My geocaching sister was with me. After a DNF at the end of January, I needed assistance in finding it and she had previously been successful in doing so. It still took a little bit of a search but I can now record this as a successful find. I didn’t really get close to it on my first round! #5048. TFTC.
Today was one of my less successful days for geocaching. I probably “notched up” as many DNFs (or effective DNFs) as successful finds. Admittedly I don't record a DNF if I discard a search in under 60 seconds, which happens occasionally when I survey a given scene and consider my chances of success to be somewhat slim!
I spent a considerable while looking for this one, initially in the wrong place. Once I’d figured out where the coords were leading me, and taking into account the hint, I searched reasonably thoroughly in what I thought were likely spots. Sadly it was all in vain and, not for the first time today, I departed the scene empty-handed.
Interesting spot in regard to the history of the tree. Glad to have come here, despite not finding the cache!

Log nice and dry, out for a walk after the rain yesterday - nice area to walk around - TFTC
While nearby chasing bolts, I came down the track and had a look for this. I stood at the mentioned spot, and wasn't too sure where to look as there had been some work done in the area. I went for a hunt though, following the clue and located something out of the ordinary.
Thanks for beinging me to this spot! I doubt I ever would have found it otherwise, I'm now off to read the wiki page.
TFTC TeamBroadbent, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 4 find(s) of 4 today, making this find #2770

I'm in Christchurch for a few days, staying just down the road.
Grabbed this on a pleasant walk up to and through the park.
Quick find, my GPS took me straight to it.
Dropped off a TB that I picked up near Nelson. It is a small laminated picture, tucked into the log book.

Not a great start to the day. Looked through dense bush to no avail. Another day perhaps
Great spot for a cache, who would have kniwn there was such a historic tree here without it thanks BroadbentJ25

.Coming off the Port Hills and another one just over there to stop for. Lone Pine - that one? No there are a couple of options. Finally found the right one with the plaque. Now to snag and tag this cache. Thankfully still here with all the trimming going on. Cheers
Its a long weekend in Christchurch, with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby, and Star Gazing on the radar. Unfortunately clouds put paid to seeing stars but great event meeting up with the locals. Enjoyed visiting Halswell Quarry, Lincoln, Port Hills and running around after the Smurf family. Cool, fine days and NO rain made for an awesome weekend. Will be back again soon.

Came down on Thursday night with Taybeedragon for a three day geocaching trip and to collect a rare cache type - so rare that this will be the first ever for me - a 10-Year celebration event cache (now rejigged as Community Celebration Events). But that is later today, so we came over to the airport before dawn for a virtual and an adventure lab and are now just filling in some of the blanks.
Llone pine? This is not a lone pine - there are a number of others here! Ah! Lone pine!

Visiting Christchurch to see the grown up kids who are on Uni holidays. Came out for an early morning walk collecting some local caches. Got to GZ and several trees/bushes had been chopped down. Relieved to find the cache as safe although probably a bit more exposed than previously. Thanks.
We're down in Christchurch currently visiting my elderly mother and picking up a few caches here and there. Had a couple of hours walking up at Victoria Park this afternoon and managed to claim five smileys. The hint on this one takes a few minutes to totally figure out - a little devious but it's a great cache, TFTC
While the weather was still great, my son and me went on a nice walk around Victoria Park to find some caches hidden in this beautiful nature. This was our first to find on this day. TFTC
Followed GPS, spotted pine poking out over the trees so headed into the vegetation.. Had to get dead low at some points.... Then when I reached the pine the cache was easily found.

Interesting find. Didn't see the plaque but headed for what was a 'lone pine' and, after having to get down to our little puggies level, to crawl through foliage, we then found the cache. I think we perhaps went through the 'backdown' but nevertheless the end result was a log signed and two happy cacher's and their puggy.
Nice afternoon walk on a very springy sunny day. Took a bit to locate, interesting how it can blend in! Plaques can appear in the most unexpected places. TFTC!!
Wow what a beautiful thing to find here. How awesome geo caching and more importantly you BroadbentJ25 have brought us to something we never knew was here. Thank you so much. After wowing the plaque and tree we then began searching. What a very very clever hide and exactly as the hint stated. Took us a while had looked here already but found second time. Thanks for the cache and interesting posy BroadbentJ25.
Made hard work of this one!! Found myself doing a circle to find the relevant spot. Then did more smaller circles until eventually spotted what I was looking for. Helped to look from difficult angles. Thanks for taking me to a co bit of history.
#17237. Took a while to find our way to GZ and a while to work out how to interpret the hint. Got there in the end. TFTC.
With a good weather forecast, StreetWalkerNZ and I decided we needed to head for the hills to find some caches there.
We were lucky to get a close by park in the wee parking bay, I think we we had left it to later in the morning, we would have missed out. Getting to GZ was a mission, and we had to do some bush bashing. The plaque took a few minutes to find too!
After a bit more bush bashing, SW spotted something and soon we were signing the logbook. Would never have known about this tree and its interesting origins without this cache. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.

I had some spare time this morning so went out to find a few caches. Nice one! This is what geocaching is about. Taking a traveller from out of town like me to a special spot like this that I never would have known about. After checking out the plaque and the tree I headed for GZ. Not a quick find but I eventually spotted an item of interest and there was the cunningly camo'd cache. TFTC, Biggles.
Took a little searching, but using the hint I soon spotted something out of place
This cache has a nice subject matter. And another awesome stroll around lower Victoria Park.
Enjoyed the bearing to hide. TFTC

The kids were pining to find this cache! Great location which we didn't know existed. Thanks for the history lesson!
Did not even know about this memorial and where the pines came from. Another great reason for geocaching. Quick find and a good history lesson. TFTC
Checked. In place. Log book dry. Added a few sheets waterproof paper just in case. Thanks to all for replacing as found.
Thank you so much for sharing this history, particularly as it relates to your whanau.
We came here and sat on a nearby seat to admire the snowy mountains at the end if our Takahe - Kiwi and return run/walk. I'd not long finished saying "I bet there's a cage nearby..." when bingo! TFTC (didn't sign log as I'd forgotten a pen, but I photo messaged owner and left my signature tiki)

The Lone Pine here is not so alone and looks like the friends around it will just keep growing - seems like sort of a forgotten place, this one.
Thanks for showing! Found on a dog walk.

First item I saw once I started looking, but I walked past, intent on having to search for it. Finally came back to it and bingo! Thanks for this cache, and thanks from geodog who was happy to be let loose in the dog area shortly after!!
Found all safe and secure with team_macdonald nice hide took a bit of finding but all good in the end tftc
Took abit it was well hidden but got there in the end. Tftc found with Rayzr 2 on a caching trip around chch today
Was in the first place I looked, the second time around... never knew this plaque was there so thanks for nice spot
That took a few minutes to find ignored phone and went with the hint in the end and found it
TregearP and I visited this area today to drop off a Birthday TB in a larger cache. We noted a loop on the map that allowed us to get a bit of post Christmas cheer exercise and grab a few nearby caches.
TregearP had difficulty with the 4 o'clock but that's exactly where it is.
All in good order, TNLNSL, TFTC.

1000tj find with my geo mates form Canada/Norn Iron - Cerebus 48 and Dr Buffy. TFTC
Up at the dog park to run Truffles around and then I convinced Chocochunk that we ought to grab this cache as we headed out. We were puzzled with the hint at first. Nice hide. TFTC.
Had originally planned on having a full day our caching but after a big travel weekend I decided a quieter day would be better. Didn't take long to find this cache. Thanks for the hide.
Nice to visit this special tribute to those went before us 100 years ago. Cache in great order and not as obvious as I thought it would be after reading the clue. Thank you for providing the cache that led me here.
Out and about with CeeZeeWees to collect some geocaches. Searched for a while, but found in the end. TFTC
TFTC. Out for a visit to the dog park and wander in the pine trees. Such a great day to be enjoy. THe icing on the was finding this cache.
Initially I was slightly confused with the hint and the GPS was pointing away from the first target. Eventually it all made sense. I happily signed the log.
Thanks Broadbentj25 for placing the cache and bringing me to an area I had not previously visited.

What a great find. Geocaching brings you to special places and this has got to be one of them. A tree all they way from a distant land. And such an important place to remember our fellows across the ditch. Even thou they beat us at the world cup of cricket and we beat them at rugby and then they steal our musicians and actors and a horse we still I the field of battle are brothers in arms. Located the cache quickly ..signed the log. Thanks for bringing me here to this place, TFTC BroadbentJ25 , from Mr Cuddly Brick, 23 April 2016, cache number #1314!
Finally it stopped raining. Summer is here again. Yay. Although it was after 6 I headed for the hills and went for a walk, with an agenda. Your geocache. It took me a while to find this well kept secret spot. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. The hide was kind of tricky too. An enjoyable end of the day. Thanks.
Took us a bit of a search today but eventually we made the find! The grandkids quite intrigued with the lone pine story. TFTC
My first find on a caching run, walk then stagger around Victoria park today. Saw a pine tree I was sure must be the right place. Took a bit of uncertain searching to realise it was the wrong tree. The hint was spot on after I found the right tree. Thanks for a nice cache.
Found once I got on the right track through the trees. Happy to be able to get up into the hills in the sun after the rain this morning. TFTC (2642)

Cache for the day time. I was pretty keen to find at least two today, as today is the only day in the month of December when I have only a '4' on the calendar. And given I've filled my calendar 4 times over, a 4 is the smallest number!!
Not aiming to fill the calendar in 6 times over within the next year, but I may as well at least try to get closer!
So after running some errands, I still had a little bit of time leftover before needing to be at a BBQ, so decided that a wonder in the port hills sounded lovely!
Cache number 3!! I still had a bit of time to kill!
Wow what a great spot for a cache! Up in the hills, and with some history too!
Consec caching day #1129

Thank you for bringing me to this spot. No idea this tree existed. I found it hard to get at but hint was spot on. Not well covered did my best to remedy. Tftc
Great to remember the ANZACs. Funny place to put it. Took a bit of finding but got it eventually TFTC
Was just about ready to admit defeat and concede I had lost my mojo for the day (or maybe it was too close to lunch or something). But I turned round and there it was playing peekaboo with me. Phew. Now it's definitely time for lunch. Tftc.
