Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we had been staying in Christchurch but have now moved inland towards Oxford we needed to get three caches today to help towards a Challenge we are walking on, so decided to drive into Mt Thomas & walk some of the tracks there this cache was on the way there an easy find, log-book signed & cache returned as found were also pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:LS this was #6,473 for us!

Fortunately Mr Geckoh was not put off by the previous DNF and soon had the cache in hand. Have a dogs a run about and then back in the van to hit the road again. TFTC

Had a good hunt, nothing there First time hunting for our boy, hope to find one soon!
Today, I set off early to explore the Mt Thomas tracks (or some of them at least). I had planned to head all the way top Bob's Biv but the weather was against me and my more rugged tramping gear is in storage at the moment. I did stop to find a couple of caches along the way. TFTC, Biggles.
Time to cache out the Oxford area. Had a nice drive around some quiet roads. There are some nice looking life sentence blocks if that's your thing.
Looping this way home.

Time to visit Oxford and its environs locating and signing off caches.
Replaced the broken container.

Down from Northland for a one week trip to Christchurch to pick up some solved puzzles, challenges, unusual cache types, Jasmer grid fillers, as well as a few others in passing.
Nice quick find in the first place I looked. TFTC

Traveling south to claim (hopefully) a few needed caches for filling the D/T grid. Saw this as we were traveling and made a quick find. Found log was full so added a replacement log to the cache ( left original log in cache ). Thanks For The Cache .
We haven't been down this road for a few years now so picked up one or two on our way south - having a short break after the busy last few months - cache log was full so we added a new log Didn't realise till tonight though that I had been putting the wrong date so the log has the 20th sorry !! Thanks for the cache
Our last day before we head home so headed out in the car to grab anything we came across. We had 29 finds and 2 dnf's so not too bad a day. Most of our finds were nice and quick and caches need no attention. Anything extra I will detail below. Thanks to all CO's for their caches.
TFTC. Out for Father’s Day picnic on first day of spring. Good park and grab.
Found with flobberworm!

Quick find on a day geocaching with friends around Loburn, Okuku and Glentui. Thanks for the hide.
Lytteltonwich, Jude_E, 3 Coconuts and I were out for the day in the Loburn/Glentui area. Logs signed as girl power. Nice easy find, all safe and dry. TFTH and the lovely area.
Cache was a quick find by Girl Power team of Busy Paws, Coconuts3, Jude_E and lytteltonwitch.
Finally getting around to logging a bunch of caches I got with Trefolia Argentea on 30 December, when we went on a climb of Mt Thomas. Thanks, and sorry for the late logs!
Iron Maiden 29: a driveby on the way to the mountain. Quick park and grab.

#6243. I decided to drive north today to visit Waikari to do the old cache near the Moa hunter rock art to fill another hole in the NZ Jasmer Challenge. While driving back I noticed my GPS was no longer functioning. I had dropped it in mud earlier in the day and washed it off at the Waikari rest rooms. But clearly the GPS is no longer waterproof as the screen was now full of moisture and the GPS was not picking up any signals. So changed over to my smartphone app and used this get me to Glentui. I had to search blind for the old letterbox cache as I had a non-functioning GPS and the mobile had run out of juice soon after arriving. Amazingly I managed to find the old cache with just the hint as my guide.
I sat in the car thinking my caching day was now over but changed the batteries in my GPS as one last option. Amazingly after three attempts at starting up the GPS picked up a signal again and displayed the map. But the screen just had a tiny clear patch in the centre. So had to virtually drive down the road on the GPS map to find caches from this point. Then headed off to find it in reality. Was very pleased to find this cache with the tools in such a poor working state. The logbook was soaked so put in a replacement log. Thanks TwoSharpe for hiding it here.
While sitting in the car trying to work out where the next cache was hidden, a car pulled up behind me at GZ and a lady stepped out and asked if I had found it. Yes indeed. Nice to meet team gkmlb who I recognised from my Kaitoke Drive-by event at the Mega. I watched while they hunted for the cache and was amazed that not one but two caches were located in this rock cluster. So signed the other cache as well. After this I followed my new buddies down the road as it was easier than trying to pull up caches on the defunct GPS.

We were in Christchurch for a few days to help one of my sisters celebrate a significant birthday. With the celebrations over we were heading for home with the plan of finding a few caches along the way.
Neither of us have been along this road before, so it was great to be able to have a bit of time to explore the area courtesy of the cache owners who have placed caches that enable us to stop and have a look around.
Earlier at Glentui Bush we had passed a man who was studying a GPS. We identified the car we thought the man had arrived in. When we pulled up at this cache the same car was parked here. We felt fairly confident that this is another geocacher. So as I got out of our vehicle I asked the other man if he had already found it. Yes he had. We had a wee chat and he said he would watch while we found it too. GK looked under one rock and I looked under another and I said to GK that we could use this one as I held up the cache I found, and at the same time he said we could use this one as he held up the cache that he found.
The other man (GSEL) said he had found the one GK found and had replaced the log as the one in there was mush. So we all signed both logs and returned them both as we had found them.
Thank you for placing the cache and of course thank you for the smilie.

Heading home after an awesome 3 days hiking the mt Thomas tracks staying at bobs biv and pinchgut hut would be rude not to grab a few p&g's after all that walking.

Stopped off here to check we were heading in the right direction and thought "I wonder if there is a cache here?" which incidentally this one was - a mere 4m away....nice find too. Thanks TwoSharpe.
Jess.daphne and I decided to go on another caching mission in order to get 50 caches to get the final Hidden Creature souvenir. I also wanted to take my new car on her maiden caching mission. We all had a fantastic day in the sunshine and howling wind, getting dusty and windswept; team Jeje riding in Gigi.
I thought the cache was by the trees so I took a quick detour up the bank. So easy in a 4WD but unnecessary as it turns out. We had a small thrill though. TFTC.

Found today with injeanious, we got around 50 caches today in order to find all of the hidden creatures. We signed the logs as JeJe to save time and space. Tftc!
Couldn't stop and look for this one today. Two farmer types were right at GZ having a natter about things agricultural. We will return another day. Rodney and Iris.
I had a wee job to do nearby that finished early so had a little time to spare, so why not take the long way home and grab a few caches.
This was an easy find and all is good inside.
Cheers and thanks,
S.t.

#15192. Second to last of a warm day (hence the need to refill the drink bottles). TFTC.
Found with StreetWalker on a jaunt to Oxford, Ashley Gorge and Glentui, mopping up a few caches in the area.
We parked right by GZ and I made a quick find while SW refilled the drink bottles. TFTC.

Grabbed the cache which I could see lying beneath the rocks and took it back to the car to sign the log out of the rain. Nice links made here to the series now that I've read the cache description. TFTC # 12,087
20 Geocaches in One Day. My biggest day caching ever. I wanted a good leg-stretch so I climbed Mt Thomas up the summit track and came down the Wooded Gully track, finding pretty much every cache along the way. Cool breeze. Nice views from the top through patchy cloud. Lovely bush on the way down. Found a few more on the drive home to make up 20. Cheers to every cache owner for placing and maintaining these.
Hooray, another Iron Maiden cache found. Nice placement.

On a mission with Shannonp1 to Complete the Mt Thomas loop. Day dawn bright, clear and warm but the forecast was accurate and we were in cloud mid way up and heavy rain and hail before the top. But we weren't alone with others running past and walking in the opposite direction. Would have been nice to see the view but will have to be another day. Quick easy find on this one.

A beautiful day, and a baby that needed to be sleeping, so I decided to head off for a drive to try get her off to sleep, and find some caches too. Multi tasking!! - Leaving the house is easier to get her to sleep - either by walking with her or driving, so perfect excuse to give hubby for all my caching now! Haha!
Managed to get 17 in the end - not too bad! Most were pretty easy too! Plus baby had 2 sleeps! A 45 min one, and then slept the whole way home from the last cache, and is still sleeping as I'm doing the logging! Whooo!
This was number one, and pretty easy, though baby was very unsettled!! - It gave me a fright thinking the rest of the day might be like this too!
TFTC!!

Last cache for the day and our only DNF. I hope the number 29 is not a bad omen considering the date of the Iron Maiden concert this week!!!!
A nice quick find today. Cheers.
Ahh a cooler day for caching today, especially in the shade of the bush.
Thanks to all the CO's for their hides.

Thank you W.E.K.A. for getting me addicted to geocaching!
It was a beautiful day for a walk up Mt Thomas and to look for some caches.
This one was easy to find. Still fun though.

Although it could have taken a while, we were fortunate to find the cache in the first place we looked. TFTC
I had a camp to assess out this way and this was a close cache.
A dot day too, so 2 good reasons to find a smilie.
Carried on to Cheviot for the night rather than heading home as we are meeting the in laws in Kaikoura tomorrow to hand over some stuff.
Came across what we thought was a scrub fire after finding the cache. In a little bit of traffic for a while (never thought to check for caches. Duh). Then someone was breathe tested next to the car so thought maybe an accident. 'Just' a non sober driver who had left the road when he didn't intend to and managed to set his car alight. He won't be using that one again (if he keeps his license). No injuries, no ambo, but 2 fire appliances and 3 police cars.
No time for Caching after that, but a few to get in Cheviot before we leave tomorrow.
Thanks for the cache. Think it is the first of this series.

Our second find for the morning- didn't take long to find. A great day for a country drive. tftc
