Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Making our way to Broken Hill for Mundi Mundi Bash. Today we moved to Gulgong from Muswellbrook. Well we thought it was cold when we left Muswellbrook, but boy it was FREEZING when we arrived at Gulgong and it had started to drizzle. [8)] What to do. Well of course we dropped off the caravan chucked on some far warmer clothes and went touring the area using Geocaching as a guide. CoolWe found your cache today. TFTC opted-out user Cool

Some of the TRLT caches I found back in June 2018. This time I was again in the Mudgee area and I took the opportunity to find a few more of the power trail.
My little Mazda3 behaved quite well on the gravel road, although it became very dusty both inside and outside.

Day 2
With the COVID19 restrictions lifting, we decided to head to the Bathurst area this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild. Our intention was to attack the TRLT trail and others around the area.
We had a great four days, only a few DNF’s but mostly smiley's, and have left plenty for another adventure. Lovely area to cache in and we look forward to coming back for some more fun and laughs.

Thanks for the hide Scenic Routers and thanks Rapidlywild for another great weekend away.

Apologies for the generic log, thank you to all the cache owners for their efforts.

With COVID19 locking everyone down for so long, a MUCH overdue geocaching mission was welcomed. FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided to head towards Bathurst and attack some of the TRLT caches and see how far we can go. Spoke to a few of the CO's prior to heading up to see if we could assist with any maintenance that was required, so we went prepared with some camo containers and some fresh log books. We had a wonderful weekend stretching the legs and enjoying the country side.

Thanks for the hide Scenic Routers Big Grin And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others Big Grin

Day 2 at Gulgong, our attack today is to do the top part of the TRLT Series before we move off to Mudgee for the rest. We gave up the mad rush at IGA for the toilet paper today to enjoy a relaxing drive on the dirt roads heading south. A few tricky ones along the way but managed a 100% success.

This was to be the last long geocaching trail for us to undertake during our current travels around Australia, and so this afternoon we started at the top of the trail. It was probably the coldest day of our geocaching holiday to date, especially as it was also very windy and raining on and off, but nothing that would stop our enjoyment of the trail. We soon found this one once at Ground Zero just as the sun set. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe

OCW frazerdaze and marj01. House sitting at White Rock for a week has provided an opportunity to do some geocaching runs around Bathurst - mainly TRLT series indispersed with a number of trads and puzzle caches. During the day we saw lovely scenery, lots of sheep and cattle, a few foxes and one deer in the forestry area. We even encountered fire persons doing a burn off which included two of the caches we were chasing. Please excuse the generic logs and thanks to all the CO's for placing the caches and adding to our enjoyment. For expediency all logs were signed OMF.

Last time I was here, I was put off by the people in the nearby property. This time it was early and no one was stirring. However, just after signing a lady came by in a car and stopped to ask me why here car's lights were continually flashing. She told me she had just had it serviced and was not happy with what was going on. I introduced her to the button for the hazard lights. I've hit that button a few times myself. Something different. We're here on unfinished business, and to attend the 'A Ceilidh in the Country' event. A few years ago we came to hit the TRLT, but gastroenteritis and flooding rain intervened. We hit the trail not long after 8 this morning, and made our way through the Piambong sections and a handful down Hill End Rd before heading over to the event. We then drove home in pouring rain.... Good coordinates were the norm, no cache problems along here.... TFTC!
Something a little different? A little urban spin on the trail.....

Hill End and Mudgee weekend April 2018. I set out late on Thursday after a small car battery issue. I only stopped once before a night at Bummeroo ford. Friday took me to Orange via many spread out caches between Oberon and Bathurst. I spent the night at Macquarie woods. Saturday started foggy and then warmed up. I was heading to Hill end, and did make it, but I had to give up on the Bridle track due to a rockfall. Late in the evening I did find a spot along the Turon river and the very bumpy northern section of the Bridle trail. Sunday had me finishing the TRLT trail from Mudgee to Gulgong and a few missed ones in the middle of nowhere. The last day was a simple drive home from Sofala. A great weekend !

After the rough morning start on the Bridle Track it was a relief to get to normal roads, even dirt ones. The rest of the day was spent dealing with more TRLT caches with a few extras thrown in to fill in the day.

Thanks.

We are staying at the Mudgee showgrounds and with this extreme heat we headed out for a while to get some caches before returning to the comfort the aircon in the caravan provides. We like doing these rural caches and this was a particularly nice section and the caches a little closer to each other which kept things more interesting. We stopped for a lunch at Gulgong and enjoyed looking around this unique town. This was one of the caches we targetted and were able to find and we thank Scenic Routers for placement of this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area. On a two day caching trip with GeodudeAU to cover more of TRLT series and others from Carcalgong-Mudgee-Gulgong-Ilford-Capertee-Lithgow. We had 90 finds and only a few DNFs for our efforts. A great couple of days exploring the Central Tablelands seeing some amazing places we wouldn't normally visit. We even survived the mini-hurricane that swept through our campsite along the Cudgegong River at TSR (Cullenbone)! Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches. Most were in good order and easily found with the help of handy hints to get CIH.

Out with Brewmaker for a 2 day trip finding caches along The Road Less Travelled series and other nearby ones. On this day 2 we started just north of Mudgee along the Henry Lawson trail through Eurunderee towards Gulgong, then through Piambong and back towards Mudgee before heading back to Sydney though Lithgow.
It was an enjoyable journey through the countryside and towns, seeing farm and native animals along the way. Today was a nice sunny day and there were no issues.
We found most of the caches very easily (except for a few in Mudgee). Most of the caches were in good order, so all in all it was a good day's caching. Thanks to all of the COs for providing this trail and caches Big Grin

Having come up from Sydney for a long weekend of geocaching in and around Mudgee, we set up camp at the Old Bara campsite, and then took off for a number of TRLT caches in the afternoon.

1/10/17. 5:49 PM. Cache #5397.
61st of 71 finds today.

Day 2 of the long weekend for which I have come up to plunder caches in the Mid West Regional council. Now on to the main leg of the day, The Road Less Travelled; I followed the trail up though Pyramul, Carcalgong, Windeyer, Grattai, Collingwood, Erudgere and Piambong - 62 caches in 6 hours including a handful of non-TRLT caches. TFTC to all the COs involved.

Sorry it's mostly going to be a copy/paste affair, but there will be the occasional extra commentary where anything of note happened...

.On the way home to the Upper Hunter from Dubbo. Me, my 3 minions and geo sister Gibberish101 decided we would attempt a section of this series. We weren't expecting a dirt road after checking a few times on the maps and found there was really no good places to pull over at most the cache sites. I wasn't game to get the geokiddies out of the car most of the time so Giberish101 went hunting and brought the caches back for my minions to do their trades Smile

Found as part of a weekend away with Hoojar. We headed up towards Gulgong the first night and camped near the start/ end of TRLT (@ -5 degrees Surprised). The next day we made it through some nice historic places and great rolling countryside to finish up at Sunny Corner after a feed in Bathurst. The next day a few more finds before we headed home. Plenty of roadkill spotted, not many cars and not too much trouble at each cache. Thanks to all those cache hiders Big Grin.

The opportunity finally arose that Steeba and I both had a free weekend to go caching. We quickly settled upon the northern half of The Road Less Traveled series. We drove to Gulgong via Mudgee after work on Friday, camping just before midnight at the suggested TSR nearby.

Saturday we made our way via the caching trail, and the odd additional cache, to Bathurst for dinner, then back onto the trail to Sunny Corner where we again camped for the evening.

Sunday we turned our heads for home, via a few additional cache stops in Portland and Wallerawang.

A fantastic weekend away, with excellent country to be seen and company to be had. We enjoyed the caches that we found.

Thank you to all of the cache owners, and sorry for the boiler-plate logs!

Cheers

14176. Found during a run through the Bathurst to Mudgee region this long weekend.

Having completed the southern part of TRLT series last month I had the northern part of the series on my radar for this long weekend - plus as many extras as there are along the way. After spending the Saturday night in Mudgee I hit the road again early today to finish up as much as I could. All but two of today's caches were found and all were nicely hidden with good sized containers. This was the next find for the day. Quick find at GZ . Log signed, cache replaced, and I headed off to the next one.

Thanks to all the COs for their caches - it was a great run up through this area.

1/5/17 Found with muppet95. Muppet95 mentioned to me that he was keen to hit up The Road Less Travelled series and we decided to take a few days off to go on a bit of a road trip. I wanted to shoot for a goal of finding at least 200 caches in a 24 hours period and we made plans accordingly. We drove up to Gulgong on the first day and arrived in the early afternoon. We started The Road Less Travelled series there and headed south towards Mudgee, picking up approximately 30 geocaches on the way. We spent the night camping on the outskirts of Mudgee and had an early night, with the expectation of an early start to have the best chance of reaching our goal of 200 caches the next day. At the crack of dawn on day 2, we packed up camp and set out on the trail, finding our first for the day at 7 AM. We then spent the next 14 hours travelling The Road Less Travelled, caching the series and picking up some additional caches along the way. We powered on well after the light of day had disappeared, because we were on a mission and were resolute in our efforts to achieve our goal for the day. We reached a point, down near Gurnang in the pine forest, where the area a cache in the series was supposed to be had been logged and we could not continue, without backtracking and going the long way around. We made the decision to turn around and head back to Oberon, where we would pick up the last remaining few to reach our target number. I am very sad to say that on the way out of the pine forest, a wombat ran out as we were driving past and was struck by the underside of the car. We stopped immediately and I rushed over to its aid. The poor thing was in not in a good way and I did what I could to provide some comfort but it faded away within a matter of minutes. The accident is very distressing and upsetting, and it put a real dampener on a long and tiring day. There was nothing we could do at that point, so we continued on our way back to Oberon, picking up some more caches in town. We reached our campsite and setup, keen to rest up and have a deserved sleep in. It was another cold night, definitely dropping below zero degrees. We woke in the morning and, after packing up, we made our way back to the big smoke. Thanks For The Caches to the respective Cache Owners, and for putting this series together, which takes us on a different route along the Road Less Travelled. We will have to come back at another point in the future to try and finish off the series, and hope that one day the series may be extended further for everyone’s enjoyment.

Road trip North to tackle The Road Less Travelled Series with JordsAU! I’ve wanted to try this trail for a while but hadn’t found anyone to try it with. I ran it by Jords a few weeks back & after checking the roster for the week, the stars aligned and we started organising it. He was aiming for “200 caches in a day”, so we planned the trail as best we could!

Monday – we drove up to Gulgong to start the trail. We worked our way down to Mudgee (~30 caches) before setting up camp for the night. We had an early night so we could smash out a big day.

Tuesday – packing up at sunrise and setting out, the big day begun! We reached the first 100 by 2:00pm (7 hours elapsed). We were worried that we weren’t going to reach the 200 milestone considered how far we had to go and how long we had been tracking! The stretch from the Great Western Highway to Oberon made great time and we were on 150 caches. Instead of heading into Oberon to set up camp in daylight, we decided the best use of the remaining daylight would be to push through into the night for the last 50. Eventually we were down to the last handful, when we hit an area of the forest that had been logged. To make up the last few, we assumed there would be caches in Oberon, so we drove 50km back to town. We made the 200 at the Oberon Memorial Site and called it a (long) day.

Wednesday – I was all ran down from the big day, so we made our way back home! I found a few in Sydney, and made the drive back down home. It was a good to unpack and have a nice hot shower. Now for the long laborious task of entering these logs!

Thank you to all the Cache Owners along this trail. It was a real joy to visit another part of this great country we call home. It’ll be easier for me to return to the trail via Goulburn/Crookwell to finish off the series (and hopefully visit any further extensions). TFTC’s!

Day 1 of 23 of our caching trip to Alice Springs, finding 300 caches in total. This was find #22 for the day.

We did The Road Less Travelled with Calypso62 and skebomonkeytown, staying at a lovely property in the Capertee Valley for two nights.

This intersection suddenly was like Pitt Street in the city!?! I didn't expect this type of hide today.

What a fabulous adventure I enjoyed with my great mates, Skyebomonkeytown and Team Canary. Our base was in the Capertee Valley at a friend’s hideaway. We had an early start to get to Mudgee for ParkRun then, after a bite to eat for breakfast, it was time to tackle The Road Less Travelled. It is obvious this series took a lot of effort to organise and to get it up and running. A big thank you to all the COs for your hard work. It is greatly appreciated.

Had a great weekend with Calypso62 and Team Canary attempting the first half of TRLT (most logs signed as a combo of C62 TC and SBMT). We stayed at a friend's place in the Capertee Valley and "commuted" both days through the lovely countryside. We also incorporated the Mudgee parkrun into our weekend on Saturday morning - C62 and my first. Thanks to all COs for the series.

A micro on TRLT? I thought they were meant to be at least smalls? At least it was an obvious find... And suddenly the traffic got really heavy!

I thoroughly enjoyed tackling all the country roads doing some of the TRLT trail and other caches on route.
Plenty of exercise getting in and out of the geo-vehicle.
As I had started the trail late I soon ran out of light and had to camp for the night.

Awesome scenery from quite a number of geocaches.

Thanks to all the geocachers who have set and maintained their caches in the area. Well done to all.
**Thanks Scenic Routers for this one.**
