Logs
Had no luck here and reading previous logs it is not hidden how I expected. I looked beside and then I looked in and then I gave up as I had to get back to the motel to pack up for the trip home.
Its Been a while and now its time to catch up on all the logging that I've put off to a rainy day (while it may not be raining, where we were heading the roads are still closed hence sitting here doing this).
Back out on the road with HKCB looking to collect a few caches around Waihi along with two more Kayak caches that we were targeting for the day. AFter making a hole in the ones in Waihi it was time to work our way down to Bowentown followed by Athenree. As we have made several runs over here in the past it was an enjoyable trip along the coast cleaning up what we needed to. Thanks to all the CO's for the effort in keeping these caches going.
Thanks for the Cache, thanks for the Placement

Another Geocaching mission with Cats&Dragons, the goal for the day was to focus on the caches around the Waihi/Bowentown/Anthenree area including the cache across the bar on Matakana Island, and while we had the kayak with us a visit to a lonely beach was on the cards as well. The day was hugely successful and a lot of fun, so a big thanks to the CO's for all the placements.
The GPS was pointing us to a slightly different spot and while I was hunting around for the cache I spotted it a few meters away. Thanks for the hide.

This was our first ever visit to this Wetlands area, so thanks for bringing us here.
Stopped for a walk around the area, but somehow missed one of the caches on the circuit. Too late now. Thanks.
A lovely peaceful walk through the wetlands with just the sounds of the birds to be heard. Another nice quick find here. Signed, replaced and off to the next cache in the wetlands, TFTC!
Last one on the wetlands. Great walk. Thanks for bringing us here. TFTC. Zeroing in on 400. #395.
nice little walk around, with the kids in tow, whingeing about the long grass, good amount of bird life here... good to see. tftc
Quick find but retrieval is getting a wee bit hard due natural growth of the surroundings. Thanks willbuild, all is well.
2253 Not only is it wetland but also wet days. Thankfully it was quickly found as the rain had set in. Picked up TB
Signed as Hakuna Matata team. Saw the travel bug but as we won't be able to help with its aim, we left it in the cache.
This one took us quite a while to find it!
But it was fun and it's a nice area.
More than beside it is behind..

The rain finally eased to just occassional showers so it was time to leave the shelter of my caravan and venture forth. This one was the second closest so it was, of course, the second of the day.
In: TB.
Cheers for the cache.

Final cache in the wetlands. Nice place, ways more suited to grazing duck and geese than cattle! In spite of the fact that the track is well above water level, the huge amount of rain we've had in the last 6 weeks means the ground is completely sodden, and the tramping boots are now leaking. Cache wasn't where I would have expected it, but sveppi found it. A bit further along the cattle yards appear to be in a spot more appropriate for frogs than cattle. Good thing they aren't in use anymore!
Third and final cache in the wetlands. We were so busy enjoying the walk we were almost back to the cattle yards before fanfan-77 stopped and turned around. A short back track and a bit of a hunt before the cache was found. Very dry spot where it is. My feet are now wet.... but who cares, this is a lovley area. Thanks heaps for the placements and bring us here. I think we have done a few willbuild caches over the weekend and really enjoyed finding them in their interesting areas. Cheers.
Did part of the walk today, to this one. There was a trck parked where the next one was, so I went back to the car and carried on. Cheers.
A night at The Mount, a short days cache from Waihi Beach. A nice warm sunny drive, unusual for this time of year.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

We're visiting from Florida, USA. That was great fun. Thanks for placing the cache.
A nice walk through the wetlands to this open area with some nice big trees on the border.
A quick find thanks to the hint. Didn't waste any time. Cache in good condition. Signed and replaced and off to the next.
Thanks willbuild
Making the most of walking through long grass as I am moving to Australia soon and will have to be careful of snakes!!

#11532. A pretty quick walk to GZ, but we could have done with the grass being a big shorter. TFTC.
After a full-on and tiring day yesterday, when we biked from Waihi to Paeroa, we had a cruisy morning and after lunch headed out to Athenree and Waihi Beach to have a look around. Unfortunately, the sun was shining so it was warmer than we would have liked so we appreciated cache finds in the shade!
We had the reserve to ourselves today - apart from the odd water fowl. Nearly fell into a ditch near GZ that was obscured by long grass, so watch your footing here. TFTC.

#492 - Had a day without the toddler, so decided to come out here and do the cycle way and collect as many caches as i can!
15th cache of the day - Stopped in here on my way out of Bowentown, no one around here today! Nice walk out to this one, except for the waist high grass! made it a bit of a struggle lol. Luckily the cache was straightforward to find. TFTC

Greetings from Wellington. Found on my morning run. The dog had to sit this one out - he wasn't happy about that. The reserve is a lovely area for a walk or run.
Another straight forward find. TFTC.

It was great to get out on the last day of the year and find a cache with the grand children TFTC
Got led a bit astray here and had to apply some geo-sense to get a find. I blame the camo! Cache good.
Lots of birds enjoying their wetlands. TFTC

Another boys day out with no particular destination in mind and just ended up here
A beautiful little loop track and another place I'd never know existed without these caches. Found the cache in the first spot we checked and now we're off back to the car - Cheers again willbuild
Earlier this year a group of Tauranga based cachers started a Geocaching Bay of Plenty Facebook page. 70 cachers currently make up this closed group and have already organised various events thanks to the connectivity facebook provides. Please check us out if you haven't already.

Nice and quiet here today and only had to share it with the birds This is a great area to bring people to - GPS had me looking around the wrong tree but after a circuit I moved along and there it was! TFTC
Tidying up some caches close to home and going for our record number of caches in one day. One more to get and we are there. TFTC. Took TB to move along.
This area is looking pretty good with all the work that has been done here. Nice quiet evening walking along this track and listening to all the birds around, TFTC , dropped TB
1.05pm - Started heading around wrong side of wetlands so had to back track to find cache and got muggled by a guy doing a bit of maintenance on wetland. SLTFTC
Dot Day... Day 26 of a hopeful 50-day caching streak... Sharing the challenge with Gap (of Fap and Gap).
We found ourselves momentarily on the wrong side of the water, looking across to ground zone. A quick reset, and we were back on track... There was a fair amount of trampling in the grass to alert us that we'd arrived. A quick scout and the cache was in hand. We were just signing off and got busted by a friendly man walking through with a spade. TFTC.

This is one of the things we love about geocache - coming across these amazing little parts of NZ we would never even know existed if we were not geocaching
thanks for a great cach

Found after my phone died (just flat batteries!) but not helpful in finding the other nearby GC…o well I'll just have to come here again, no problem, I live at Waihi Beach! [:-)][:-(]
Junior was keen to go the long way around to the other new cache. It was surprisingly dry, considering the recent rain we've had. It started to drizzle but nothing too wettening. Another easy find. It's a nice walk. Tftc
Tftc. After finding the cache near the carpark today with yodabeach and our juniors, we said to the kids "which way shall we go...the longer scenic way, or the shorter more direct route?"Of course, one wanted to go the long way, the other the short way. But we decided to go the long way, as it was a nice day for a stroll around the wetlands. Cache found easily on an enjoyable outing.
AI looked around the wrong place for a short while then used the famous 'where would I have hidden a cache?' and looked there. Found very quickly. My GPS was out by a good 6m. TFTC
