OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa Staying close by we decided to focus on this area for a few caches today. Lots of fun exploring these tracks. Tftc
A quick find here on my way past, cache is all goodWith a few days off I headed over to the northern Eyre peninsula for a 2 night stay in Whyalla, my main aim for the few days was the FITG and the FTF trail plus finding a few caches here and there along the way. Just under 300 caches found for the trip. Thanks for the cache
Making my way to play golf at the Streaky Bay open on the weekend. Day 1 was doing some of the August series just before Whyalla and also start the FITG Series on the Whyalla/Kimba road before heading to Cowell to stay overnight to pick up a mat who was coming over on the ferry after working night shift. Also did an adventure lab in Whyalla and grab other caches on the way. The caches were in good condition unless mentioned in the log. TFTC
Thanks for the hint. I think nature took the log. So i will use the log to say we found it.
Away for a few days with Featherwaite and Team Astro.
The plan was to get all the whyalla caches as well as the FTF series and the FITG caches.
Nearly got them all, just a few left for next time.

Another cache found during our 2022 South Australia Adventure using Geocaching as our guide.
Thanks for the cache samia72.
Thanks for the cache samia72.
Continuing the cache hunt on the outskirts of Whyalla along with ilook4eo. It was a successful day and there were no muggles around in the places we visited. Each cache we found had its log signed before being returned to its hiding place. Thank you to samia72 for adding this cache to the game for us to find.
Had a good caching day out and about with goingplaces2. No problem with finding any of the targets or signing the logs. TFTC.
Full time nomads since 2014. Still tootling around the country trying to avoid Covid hotspots.
Back in SA for harvest work. Heading to Port Pirie but 4 days ahead of schedule so a quick detour to Whyalla was in order. There sure is a lot of puzzles here! Glad we had done the solving before arriving in town. Rain overnight meant there was some slip sliding happening as we tackled numerous off road tracks and climbs today. Good Fun in the Geo Cruiser [:o)]

Sadly, it's time for us to travel towards home after enjoying a week in Alice - but not without finding caches and enjoying the sights

So, it was the final day of the drive back to Adelaide and, having stayed in Whyalla overnight, the decision was made to spend the morning caching around Whyalla before making the drive back to Adelaide, finding caches along the way. It was a good start to the day as the finds were made quite quickly. Along with finding the caches at a quick pace, there were also quality hides in good areas. Once it got to about one in the afternoon, the decision was made to begin the journey back to Adelaide. As we drove, the occasional stop was made at a parking bay along the side of the road to find a cache, it almost seemed like there was a cache in every one. Finally, after a long day, we finally returned home and, unless otherwise stated, all caches were found in good condition.

On a road trip around the Mid North and Eyre Peninsula, geocaching as I go. Predominantly targeting old caches, solved mysteries and grabbing some interesting looking traditionals.
Quick find here.
Thanks for the cache samia72.

This weekend, I headed to Whyalla to catch up with a few other Geocachers and attempt some of the trails there. On Saturday, we targeted the FTF power trail from Whyalla to Iron Knob, and then spent the evening and the subsequent morning driving some of Whyalla's back tracks. On Sunday, I visited Cowleds Landing and back north, only to get severely bogged in one of Whyalla's clay pans. I then returned home via the August series.
Today, we started the day at a meet/greet breakfast event, and then I headed out with hevwalker and scramping for a few more geocaches south-west of Whyalla along the back tracks and main road, followed by the December trail series. I then continued south visiting Cowleds Landing and the proclaimed nudist beach. I next found *Potty Time*, only to realise that I had driven on the nearby clay pans, and then sank into the soft clay below on my way out. Eventually I had help in getting out, and finished my remaining time in Whyalla completing the pipeline August series, and calling into Whyalla Conservation Park for a few high favourite caches. I then made the long journey back to Adelaide stopping at a few miscellaneous geocaches along the way.
The tree has been cut down, so it is a very short tree indeed. Magically, the cache sistema has managed to survive after all this time though? The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks samia72 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

After a great day and evening of caching with hevwalker and Davidwazza yesterday where we did the FFT powertrail, visited Iron Knob, back tracks and miscellaneous caches of Whyalla we started off the day with an early breakfast event put on by Davidwazza. We found ourselves back in the back tracks again. After a quick walk we found the cache next to.....yes...a very short tree...cache and log book in good condition. TFTC
In Whyalla with scramping for a few days on a mini holiday break...
We started the day with a Maccas breakfast event hosted by Davidwazza...
We then went out caching before the weather got too hot and windy...
Yes now it is a very short tree...

Day 300 (Wednesday 24th) of our trip. Caching along the way. In Whyalla today. A total of 5 for the day and 5734 for the trip. TFTC
A good spot. Nice quick find in a great location.
Out with Jack and Sebastbat for some June Long Weekend Plus fun of our own - as this year's event had been thwarted by a naughty virus! Headed out, umm, this way and that way... plenty of little icons on the map to be converted to smilies
A little more Whyalla, then homeward bound. We'll be back Whyalla - lots we didn't have time for!
We did think the Whyalla map needs some more large caches. Maybe we'll have to bring some back
thanks for the cache samia72

All the best caches are hidden at a safe social distance
(161m apart, though preferably not vertical distancing !!! )
Caching never stops with some serious help from soap, water, and especially alcohol...
( Good for cache cleanliness and coping with puzzles ! )
Once cacher per 4sqm is easily achieved
Space is good. Fresh air is good. Exercise is good. The great views are very good.
#washyourhands - we don't know where the cache has been!
Gloves are handy - but only if you change them between finds !
#washyourhandsagain please
Support the regions! Hide a cache in the Barossa and another
#keepwashingyourhandsagainandagain
[xx(] If you stay "Covidsafe" you may just avoid a whole bunch of other nasty germs this flu season too
Hand hygiene and keeping safe distances can reduce your chance of common cold, flu, pneumonia, gastro, and a whole bunch of other nasties, as well as that corona thing
Ease your restrictions carefully. But get out and keep fit!
Enjoy caching. It's good for your physical and mental health

Found with Kapybeara as we were heading home from Port Lincoln. 7th and final find for the day before we had to push on home. Loved the dirt track and very nice aussie saltbush country. TFTC
Found a very squashed cache container. Had similar in the car so replaced. A nice bit of scrub although we were dodging traffic as we did this cache and I did maintenance on my nearby one!! Thanks samia72 for the hide!!
A nice quick find in the bush. I love this kind of landscape and the city of Whyalla

A quick find on my way past...
Spending a few days in Whyalla and found a few cache, or 300!
Had managed to solve all the puzzles before coming over too.
Of the nearly 300 found on the trip over and back from Adelaide, 95% were found within 50km of Whyalla Central, with approx a dozen dnfs also. Amongst all the finds was my 17000th find.
Also managed a lot of 'unloved' finds too.
What is it with Whyalla and mint tins? lol
TNLNSL
Thanks

Another day of caching around Whyalla and it was a case of chalk and cheese with yesterday's success and enjoyment replaced with frustration and irritation.

Found at 1002. Staying in Whyalla for a week to break up my drive to WA and to pick up some smileys while I am here. A quick bushy find. TFTC.
On the road to the Alice Springs Mega with LuckyL10n and Albida33. We headed through Burra and Port Pirie before arriving in Port Augusta for the trek up the highway. Collected a good number of caches and all were found with no issues and the logs were soon signed. (Some logs were signed as S.A.L. to save space.)
Thanks for the cache and fun in getting to it and finding it.

Alice trip 2017. Day 6. With Sol de Lune and LuckL10n we spent today caching around Whyalla during a bit of s detour on our drive to Alice Springs. Heaps of caches with lots of DNFs we skipped but me managed a good day of caching.

#6572 - 13:50; Day 8 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune and albida33, so most logs were signed S.A.L. as a result. Caching in and around Whyalla today and along the roads into and out of town we collected 69 finds and 6 DNFs. We visited many places of interest today in our travels and most of our finds were in good condition. We were now headed south out of town along the highway and caching our way towards a mini trail along another backroad. Found this one along the way. TFTC samia72
Hi there samia72.
We found your cache **"Short Tree"** at 11:57:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 15806).
We cached around the Whyalla area today. On our trek we found a wide variety of container types. & ended up finding 20 caches with 1 DNF's.
Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels. We awarded this cache a favourite point for the ingenious camo.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

#1014 Ninth of forty finds on Day 4 of my Christmas and New Year's geocaching road trip to SA. Easy find after a short search. Nice way to celebrate Boxing Day on a overcast and stormy day in and around Whyalla.
I was getting close to Whyalla today
And another detour into the wilderness,
where rubbish dumpers,
and hoons roam ...
... took me to GZ where this cache lies
A tricky little cache to find,
if you are not paying attention [^]
I was paying attention,
and soon had the logbook in paw

Found by Mary & David at 1359. Heading into Whyalla from Port Lincoln. We have been away for 5 weeks. Saw two kangaroos. Our thanks to samia72.
We are unsure if this cache is still here. After an exhaustive search we came up empty handed. We figured the very recent vehicle tracks (as seen in the posted photo) have had something to do with it. We could be wrong though.
You may want to check this one to be sure it is okay. See my photo on my logged visit.
Found It!
A quick find here as we pondered over the correctness of the hint. Neat little hide to!

Great hide.
The loud and lovely Locus Cache [:X], the very clever Laighside Legends and myself drove to Whyalla in Harry with the aim of this weekend being: to find a few caches, and attend the 5T boating/fishing & caching event.....AWESOME!! [^]
There was fun, laughter , silliness [:o)], tense moments, some creative driving (on road, off-road, dirt, sand, mud, water, tackling what could be described as a very steep and narrow bmx track...yep you heard me!) , breath holding , kindness [:X], tight time schedules, ladder climbing, feet getting wet, dolphins, a boat, fish, nanos, ammos, sistema of all sizes and a number of mint tins. Surprisingly few DNFs. And LOTS of other mad crazy conversations and adventures. Gotta love caching and all of the fun it can be!! [:o)] [^]

Found with Tempo as we collected all the local caches we've missed doing lately.
Stoped off on the way home from school geodad and geokid8 had a complete success finding this one
I found this cache on a return visit to Whyalla.
I lived here for a year, in 2011/12, before moving to Berri, in the Riverland region of SA.
It was great to revisit the Whyalla area and to explore some of the tracks and trails. TFTC

I was, very generously, offered a trip to Whyalla with Moneydork that was too good to refuse!
Today was a leisurely tour around the Whyalla area which resulted in my finding 48 smileys and with 3 DNFs
Ooh, whose cache is this[?]
Hello there, I know I have met you and I hope that you and the family are all well
I like short trees because I can reach the caches in them
