The tree has met its demise so I’ll let this cache go as well. It had a good run. Thanks to everyone who enjoyed the find.

Unfortunately the tree has fallen down and the beaches were everywhere.
You may need to move the cache.

The area was battered in the recent storm so hard to say if the cache still in place or not.
Damned if I can see where this thing is and Mrs P couldn't spot it from the ground either. So for a second time it can stay there along with the mozzies that are guarding it.
Thanks for terrific hide, climbed the wrong end of the tree first but saw from ground eventually and climbed again.
GPS bounced around a bit so there was a choice between a couple climbs.in the end it was a bit of sunshine that led me to a chance sighting.then it was shoes off and up I went CIH.tftc
Our 6th cache for the day. This was the reward my kids would get for going on this caching trip. I pointed it out, so T attempts to climb but chickens out. E tries and also gives up. So my 17 year old R goes up and grabs it. He throws it down for me to sign then we spend the next couple of mins trying to throw it back up to him. Eventually he catches it. A great cache. Kids loved it. Log book is FULL.
Hubby is the tree climber of our team, I climb and then have trouble coming down. There has been many a time that I have sat in a tree and have struggled to come back down, he does not often let me climb trees anymore.
He did use a TOTT to get started but with an overcast day the walkers were few and far between. SL TFTC

A fun tree climb in an aboslutely beautiful tree. Took some time to find the cache but i absolutely loved this tree and exploring the area. TFTC a FP from me
Got to the site and started looking. Spotted it after a few minutes which is pretty good for me although the tree isn't that big. Unlike GJMMelb there weren't any handy youngsters to make the climb for me! Also unlike GJMMelb I had a ladder in the car, and was able to get to a spot where I could safely get the cache. Signed and replaced, and yes, the log has seen better days.
No luck with this one. CO contacted about the possibility that this one has gone missing.
We’re are staying in Ocean Grove for 6 days and decided to head to Barwon Heads for a day of caching. This was next on our list and as we arrived we saw some Mums and kids walking/cycling along the dirt road. We waited till they were out of sight before heading into the bush but then all of a sudden they approached from the other side. I had literally just started reading the info on the cache page about the Fairy Tree/Magic Tree and they called out were we looking for the fairy tree and so I said yes we were and read the description and said we were also geocaching. They were very interested and wanted to know all about it and thought their family and Parents in particular would love it. We told them what we were looking for and then GMelb spotted the cache but then lost it again lol. They then spotted it too. GMelb ummed and ahhed whether he would climb and decided against it and then one of the lovely ladiy’s offered to climb the tree to get it for us. I was a bit worried and implored her to be careful!! She shimmied up the tree in 5 seconds flat and easily unscrewed the cache and dropped it down to us. GMelb found a tiny spot and signed our caching name (log needs replacing ASAP) and then we suggested they make up a name and sign it too and this could be their first cache. The name they chose was “Wil5” so hopefully they will join up and that name is available and they will log online soon!! The lady then shimmied back up the tree and replaced the cache. We chatted a bit more about caching, apps etc and they thought it would also be a fantastic holiday activity with the kids. It was great to meet you guys and I hope you work out the website and premium caches etc!! If you’re reading this, you have!!
We realised after we left this cache is a premium cache so unless they get a premium membership they won’t be able to find it on the map or log it! Hopefully they are able to work that out and can have as much fun as we have over the years!!
TFTC AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE, it is an amazing specimen of the tree - GJMMelb

Took a little to spot but the cache was easy to climb up to. I am enjoying the accessible caches in trees in this area.
Cache log is worn and could do with replacing but still had space to write log.
Thanks Jamin Appleford for the cache.

This was a definite team effort. After completing the nearby cache we drove over here to survey the scene. Even with the extension tool and a through reading of previous logs we couldn't spot it.
PAF was employed so clarify just where to look and so that we knew what we were looking for.
Eagle-eyed 08151605 spotted it and then our extension tool was unpacked and used again. This time Feathertop was the brave one who stretched and swayed to sign us in as Feathertop, 6Hinemoa2, 0813... and sorceysal.

After the made dash around trying to grab a few first to find for the new caches released for the Christmas in Geelong Lunch Event we set our sites on picking up some of the local caches that we still needed to turn into smileys.
When we arrived at GZ we found Crack'n'LeeLee and Grumpy Bump staring at the tree planing there move with a ladder to make the retrieval. That ladder isn't required and Neville_Devil was up in a flash. Its nice to have a few achievable tree climbs around that don't need all the equipment.
Thank you Jamin Appleford for the smiley

In Geelong today with 08151605, Feathertop and 6hinemoa2 attending the annual Christmas invasion. Signed as a team cache 608SF to avoid the logs running out too quick.
This one certainly tested the abilities. Read the previous logs that said they could see the cache. Put the ladder up but couldn't see anything. With 4 of us looking we decided on a PAF but no answer. We packed up the ladder to try again another time and then the PAF called back. 08151605 was then able to spot the little container. Up the ladder again and balancing precariously, the log was signed and we could all breathe a sigh of relief. Thanks for the challenge.

We arrived here before the event and 4 of us scoured the tree from below without luck. WE employed the 3,8m ladder for more coverage and still no luck. Packed up the ladder and that's when Michael spotted the bison with his eagle eyes.
We redeployed the ladder and I went up with my buddies holding onto my support. I still had to leave the ladder and climb a bit further where the boughs are less sturdy and there is some sway. Hardest part was getting the log out signing it and returning it. Signed as Feathertop, 6Hinemoa2, 0813... and sorceysal.

I was down Geelong way for the 3 Christmas events and picked up a few caches between events as time allowed.
After finding a couple of the new caches just published I made my way to this one and it was like a mini event with all of the teams that were here, I spotted the cache and Neville_devil soon scurried up the tree more like a Possum.
Thanks AUSSIE AUSDIE AUSIE TFTC.

Arrived at GZ and spied a tree inspector with a ladder....mmm...or cacher. A popular cache today following a nearby event. Wasn't long and we were also greeted by Sims Family, Neville Devil and Ausfox;
While we were planning our attack, Neville Devil spider-manned up the tree. That was quick!
TFTC. A lovely tree and area.
Log book is getting a bit worn.

DNF With my GPSr having me at 0-1 meters, and with no branch above me, I widened the search area and just couldn't spot it. Gave up after 15 mintues
Having climbed another tree nearby and rectified a DNF near a little bridge, we decided to make one more stop for the day before heading home. The eldest Geokid thoroughly enjoyed climbing the lower parts of this tree and collecting shells whilst I focused my attention a little higher. I quite quickly spotted something unusual, the same ring type object on a piece of string mentioned in previous logs (which I hadnt read at the time), which had me contemplating if this was muggled, but after checking the D/T rating and a couple of recent logs I was fairly confident that wasnt the cache. After looking around trying to spot this one I eventually made a calculated decision and headed skyward up the most likely candidate. Once I had myself a few meters in the air I was able to spot the cache and a little more climbing had it in reach. A little breezy today, meaning I was swaying a little but got the log signed nonetheless. It has dried out since previous logs but is still in fairly average condition. I managed to get a scribble on it fairly easily with a gel pen. TFTC.
Out for a drive stopped in on this beauty hubby went for a climb. Great fishing spot will be back to throw a line or 3 in one day. Watch out for idiots with unrestrained dogs very nearly ran over a golden retriever who ran in front of car.
I had some fun with this one and those with me were quite impressed.
Shame we didn't have a camera handy.
May go back just to get a picture

We have went to try this one again and after looking for a while I finally found it right up high. It was a very hard climb to get it. But still a great cache
After an hour of searching we finally found it! The light was shining on this tiny geocache. Bring your Mozzie spray and your climbing boots. Fun! The fairies are watching
Wow. What a great tree to climb. Took me back to my childhood. I'm 57 and around 100kg but had no problem climbing to gz twice ( once to retrieve log and later to replace signed log.) Branches would support you no probs. Coming back down was a little more iffy.
My advice is you're a little scared of heights or have any physical issues related to strength, flexibility or balance, then dont attempt this one.
cache is about 7or 8m off the ground but can be spotted from the ground.
To CO- Thx for bringing back some very fond memories of years gone by. Tftc

While doing a bit of reconnaissance work in the area today, grabbing a cache was a must before we left the area. I was lucky enough to be in the presence today of the effervescent Mclookers. Plenty of energy here, let me tell you !! Spotted this hide and with such a nice D/T combo, how could we resist !! Once the clever hide was spotted, it was now time for the retrieval.
Luckily there were about 3000 mozzies to aid in my ascension............ Even though my thongs weren't the ideal footwear, I made it up and back without a hiccup. Now it was the turn of Mclookers, so it was time to transform into something resembling a ladder !! The log was a bit damp, but we managed to add our names. Now it's time for a sugary drink to replace all the blood loss from those mini vampires. TFTC Jamin Appleford.

In this area tonight with DAB and 4 million mozzies we were able to spy the cache from the ground as the light was just right. Using DAB as a human ladder, I was able to scramble to the cache. The log was damp but I was able to sign it. DAB did not require me for help, he managed it easily!!! Thanks Jamin Appleford, pretty area just lots of mozzies tonight.
I have checked on the cache and disappointingly there are very few names in the log book. It is exactly where it was hidden and I could not find a potential throw down that people may be signing as they certainly have not signed the actual log. **see photo** The cache was not in the mud, put in a nook or signed by many people.
I'm enabling the cache again, let's make sure any future seekers actually find and log this cache correctly, otherwise it's just cheating.

Just taking it off the radar to save people incase it is missing again.

I came, I saw, I didn't conquer.
After wandering around some of the trunks I saw the cache. I reckon those branches around GZ were fine for the small kids who built the cubby, but didn't look strong enough to support a 100kg adult. I wasn't keen to test the breaking strength of a small branch, so unfortunately will have to go off my list. TFTH.

Found it on the ground about 5 m away from its rightful place. Have replaced it back in a nook up off the ground.
Have heard about this overhead challenge and decided to take a look whilst in the area. Spotted the sneaky devil however due to the windy weather and me being part chicken it was not retrieved. Hopefully one day I can return and conquer the branches that reach to the heavens!
Visiting some friends that only live a few hundred metres from GZ so we went for a look. upon arriving there they were shocked to see that there 'fairy tree' (the tree that local children climb on) was home to a geocache! upon finding the cache from the ground they were satisfied that nobody that wasn't a geocacher would find it so all good. Anyway, even with a torn hamstring I was able to make the climb, pretty easy for someone my age but then again the game isn't just made up of young people! Thanks for this placement Jamin Appleford, a nice climb

Tftc! Fun Sunday morning, many branches to this tree, make sure you check them all to be successful for this cache
We decided to get the Geoboys (not if they can possibly avoid it) out of the house on this sunny day and whilst they and Geohubby headed for the waves, I went to find an easy cache which turned out to be not so easy. I did find it eventually and arrived at the beach just as the boys were ready to go. We grabbed an ice-cream and a coffee on the way out of town and then took a short detour to grab this cache.
Took a bit of looking, finally summoned the less-than-enthusiastic Geoboys to join in and not long after we all spotted the hide almost simultaneously.
Log signed and replaced and we headed home to wash off the sand.
Thanks Jamin Appleford !

Checked cache today. Found in the right place where I hid it. Not many names on the log sheet though...
After looking for it in the tree we discovered it on the ground in the mud. Signed the log and place a bit higher to meet its terrain, not too high tho. TFTC.
Found with MegUA.. Found cache on the ground at the base of the tree.. Moved it a little higher TFTC
Our last cache to collect in the Heads. Always up for a bit of a climb. Think the terrain rating is good - the CO must have one hell of a vertical leap to get this with one leg down! Nice to sign a new log - let's us keep dreaming of getting a FTF. TFTC
Sorry it took a while for me to get here, but I've finally dropped in today to replace the container.
Might have a think about T rating as I was able to climb this today on one leg having torn the lateral ligament in my left knee.... 5 days ago.
Na I'll leave it. happy hunting!

A nice trip out after work making the most of the beautiful weather.
We decided on giving this cache a shot and to test our climbing skills.
It looked like someone has had a party here recently with some Happy Birthday confetti scattered on the ground.
It took a while before we spotted the cache and then we made the climb and before we knew it we were putting pen to paper.
This is defiantly a very interesting tree, we love how these trees grow in a almost mystical way.
Thanks Jamin Appleford for the cache and the fun tree climb.

We came. We searched We searched some more. We finally concentrated on the correct tree and finally spotted the treasure. Unfortunately, advancing age means more common sense. so we left it where it is for others to find. Thanks for the hunt anyway

This was our second stop on the way to Earth's Ebony, to log a find for International Earthcache Day. Well what a magnificent tree! We figured the first task was to try and spot the cache, took quite a time, but eventually P-P had something in sight that was a bit unusual. So the climb made - oops no container here, only the ring! We were able to leave a temporary container, future seekers will need to be very gentle until the CO has the opportunity to affix a stronger container.
Our thanks to Jamin Appleford for bringing us here.

See our Found log. It would seem this has been muggled. We placed a temorory cache (Throwdown - we hope with CO permission) to tide things over till the CO can replace the missing container.

Visiting my sister and her family in Barwon Heads and she wanted to know more about geocaching. Saw that this one was near her house but that it was a tree climb. Not our thing. However, we came here anyway thinking that one of the geokids might be capable.
Had a good look from ground level and couldn't see anything. Kids were climbing the tree searching hard (the youngest for fairies). Decided that it was beyond us and turned to go when I spotted it out of the corner of my eye. No way could we send kids up that high. My muggle sister threw off her shoes and climbed that tree barefoot. Had to talk her through what to do with the log etc (thank goodness I sent her up with a pen). Coming down appeared to be more difficult particularly with her two yo fretting for her safety.
We loved this tree and had great fun watching her do it. Thanks heaps for the cache.

Started climbing randomly about before slowing down to look properly. Once I took the time it was quickly discovered. I risked life and limb while Lemongum shouted encouraging things like "Don't die".
As a regular visitor down this way I always keep an eye out for any new caches and being a tree climber from my childhood days I like to check these ones out for their potential attainability. I don't have any climbing gear so some of the hides are beyond my nerve. At GZ I climbed the most obvious branch first but couldn't spot any likely hiding spots so after retreating to ground for a new strategy and consulting the cache notes and some previous logs I finally spotted the hide. Although it was a bit higher than I had imagined I thought I could spot a reasonable pathway up so I started climbing. I made it to the cache easier than i expected but it was pretty breezy up there so it made things a bit precarious extracting and signing the log. All that safely done I happily slid back down the tree. Thanks for the cache.
Got back early from a non caching camp trip down Otways and being a beautiful day still ahead decided to go grab a cache.
Took the winding route along the coast to pull up here. Searched for quiet a while analyzing photos and almost got to point of PAF. Eventually spotted a little black spot and made the climb.
This wasn't the easist climb in a pair of air max and being on the shorter side, but with a bit of a reach had the log in hand. Tree was shaking a little and wasn't even windy - probably got to do with the 90kg squats I have been smashing out [white]do you even lift?[/white].
Thanks for the cache and climb!

Suscoe had a delightful morning out and about with our good mate Bushfire.
We visited a number of caches on our way around the Bellarine and adjoining locations and had a bit of fun on the way.
This was the first stop where both Suscoe and Bushfire needed a find.
With three sets of eyes looking carefully upwards the caches was eventually spotted and with the correct tool the cache was in hand.
Thanks to Jamin Appleford for creating a pleasant caching experience.
As Bushfire mentioned, light winds and a dry sky were our friends here today, future finders need to pick their time and trust that this old fellow remains sound.
A good bit of fun for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This cache is not easy to find, nor easy to retrieve when you do find it. But I too really enjoyed the challenge and the elation of success when I was able to walk away without any thing broken, neither me nor the tree. Thanks for bringing me to this spot and for placing this cache.
Well I can claim the record as being the oldest to log this guy for a while as it was signed today. Great cache notes but I felt a little uneasy disturbing such an old tree in it's latter years of having some silly old cacher clamber all over it to sign a tiny bit of paper.
I was glad the wind was light because even with my weight there was a certain amount of movement and I was not entirely trusting of how sound these limbs were.
You were lucky in your placement as not far away there is a cache not a puzzle but you have not logged it yet!!! The kids who play in this tree must be real monkeys to get up to their platform.
Thank you for this placement as I enjoyed it and glad it was no higher.

You were lucky in your placement as not far away there is a cache not a puzzle but you have not logged it yet!!! The kids who play in this tree must be real monkeys to get up to their platform.
Thank you for this placement as I enjoyed it and glad it was no higher.
JFTF
After an unsuccessful FTF attempt in Drysdale this was our next stop. Pull up to near GZ and no one is here so it looked promising. Looking up I saw what we were after so up I go. Get to the cache and found a nice clean log to sign! YESSSSS
As I was putting it back I could hear to muggles walking on the track not far away closing in so played dead fish up a tree as they walked past, oblivious of where I was they kept on yapping away as they walked past.
Thanks Jamin Appleford for the cache and smiley face

Joint [FTF] with Darth Briji
Missed the ping as my phone was on silent but Darth Briji kindly asked if I needed a lift, so grabbed the smaller ladder just in case and headed for GZ. Once at GZ Darth Briji did the honors of making the climb first, finding a clean log. As he was decending a few muggles walked past so as not to draw attention to himself he clung onto the branch like a clip on koala, the funniest thing I've seen while caching in a while.
Thanks for the cache Jamin Appleford
