What an intrepid adventure this turned out to be. The board walk was lovely. Got to the shoe cleaning station/bucket and had a decision to make.
Did not realise until after that this is a loop track. I went clockwise, but I suspect anti-clockwusw would have been faster?
This felt like I was on a predator control line, following the coloured markers hoping I was going to arrive at the cache and not have the track just end.
Wet, narrow, difficult at times to follow, fallen trees
Quite the adventure. Loved the cache hide, walked past it, read the hind and found straight away.
Thanks for the hide

Heading back to our digs we turned off here after I'd realised we had time to check out the area for it's famed bittern (wrong time of year) and fernbirds, heard but not seen! Whilst enjoying the boardwalk we were accompanied by the nearby landowner who accompanied us and gave us loads of context to where we were and some great tales. He followed us as far as the walkway start, showed us some tiny orchids, then bade us on our way.
The track was a little rugged for mrs c but she battled on with a little help and we were soon at GZ. A quick search and then the host was spotted. Upong grabbing the cache from it's plastic bag I was grabbed by a giant centipede unseen which caused me to scream like a girl and flick it off! Still had the cache though so completed the paperwork and reassembled before heading down past the spongy strand ferns.
This was definitely cache of the weekend, and will be my GC9FAVE choice too, for all the reasons in the above log. Quite the adventure and a sure to return to place for future bird-spotting opportunities. Thanks smoking.gun.
(Full) day 2 and a meet up with Ed and his partner and the kids at Mair Park. We'd not been there before so was a nice new place to explore and we had a picnic lunch afterwards whilst the kids enjoyed the park facilities. Not too hot, and not too cold. Just like the Goldilocks' porridge, just right (for caching)
A long weekend in Northland and a nice catch up with our son and his family. We had 4 days and 3 nights staying at Ngunguru in the works bach and although caching wasn't high on the list we still had a couple of trips out and found a few, thanks to all COs. It's been a couple of months since we last saw little Hayes, our 16tth grandchild, so was good to see how much he'd grown.

Found after a cool splash in the cascades. Great walk but the track is a bit under used, which is great for those of us who prefer this kind of adventure. Definitely worth the side trip to the cascades as long as the track is dry. TFTC
1291. 2:11 pm. A wonderful loop walk with a boardwalk and a geocache - a great start to our afternoon adventure. Found with eKitten, GRAkiWi, Li0nPaw and my BH. TFTC(and enjoyable hike).
Queen's birthday weekend in Northland. Great loop track. This is what geocaching is about. Thank you for bringing me here and TFTC
On a very hot day decided to get this one. Didnt do the whole track due to the heat. Cache quickly located. Signed and replaced. Tftc
North Island Campervan trip Day 8
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Last night I was able to spend the night catching up with friends in Kaiwaka before setting off this morning to head up towards Russell in the Bay of Islands. I haven't been there in over 30 years, and was really looking forward to being there again. In the end I didn't quite get that far today, ending up spending a great night near a beach in Whale Bay.
I was able to park up and walk over to the start of the Boardwalk without any fuss. There was no-one else around to disturb me while I walked along the bush track and tried to make my way to GZ. The little pink ribbons tied to the tree to mark the pathway were a bit sporadic, and I ended up losing the track about 60m (direct line) from the cache so just went straight to it.
Once at GZ I searched around for a couple of minutes before spotting a potential hide location (I have to admit I was expecting something a bit bigger lol) and then I had the cache. Once found, I was able to sign the log and return the whole thing back exactly as found before heading back to the camper. The track was much easier to follow on the way back down.
Thanks for setting this cache up.

What a beautiful walk through an amazing young forest. The boardwalk is fantastic and the native birds were happy chatting to us. An amazing spot to be able to explore. TFTC.
That was quite a walk - I suspect that the track (?) hasn't been used for quite a while due to lock-down, Managed to get to GZ and make a quick find. T4tc
Nice little place, our son took the wrong path up and still made it to the cache. The trail was covered some of the way but it was a fun experience.
I headed out to Nganguru today for Whangarei's monthly clean up. I had lots of caches in this area that I hadn't got last time I was down. I had a great day, lovely bush walks, beautiful sea views, fun scrambling around the rocks. I was finally in the area to find my knitting puzzle that I'd solved years ago. I also enjoyed catching up with the Whangarei cachers at the cito. This was a lovely loop walk in the bush. I appreciate the locals and the work on the boardwalk. Loved the bird footprints along it. My phone GPS was bouncy here but I found it only 20cm from the track and near a lovely little rimu. Picked up the trackable. By the end of the day I was pretty tired with 17 caches found. Thanks for the cache to show us this area
Lovely walk in the shade with a fantail following us. Trackable left for the next hunter. TFTC
Arrived and parked. Then asked to move by a policeman carrying a large cannabis plant. Next a helicopter landed just where we were and picks up the policeman and his drugs. We then continued our quiet day caching. Liked the boardwalk and all the effort to developing this reserve. TFTC
Staying out at Ngunguru for Labour Weekend and have driven past Mill Lane for years and been meaning to walk the boardwalk. Thanks for sharing your piece of Paradise, loved the poem, boardwalk and loop. TFTC
Staying out at Ngunguru for the holiday weekend....have had these two on the to do list for awhile so we came in and enjoyed the walk along the boardwalk and then up through the bush and the lovely trees. GZ and cache soon in hand. Thanks for bringing us here and for the cache.
We 'did' the other track, then came over the boardwalk to 'do' this one.
Scrubbed our shoes first.
Loved the poem, the rickers, the variety of terrain and the effort that has gone into creating this! I can't believe there haven't been more finds here.
We definitely give this one a fav.

Out for a day on the coast, caching Was never really aware of this little side road, or of the neat bush and marsh walks here, so thx for putting theses caches in and giving us a reason to stop off.
Collected the didgeridoo TB to take on some adventures. Left a big spider to guard the cache.

Enjoyed the loop walk under the trees on a warm day and especially the poem on the board walk. Thanks for bringing me to this special place & for the cache
Great walk through native bush. We didn't turn the GPS on until we had overshot the cache. Had to backtrack. Ergo, the walk took longer than it should have-----no problem.
Had wondered about the works back when doing the other cache nearby.... love the completed boardwalk & such a lovely walk- nice & spongey under bare feet.. nice hide.tftc
This was coming up as one of the closest unfound caches to my parents place, so I decided to go for a drive and check it out. Parked at the start of the road then took the interesting boardwalk, gave my shoes a good clean, then wandered around the trail clockwise as suggested. It was an unusual ad-hoc kind of a trail, but that added to the charm of it. At GZ the nicely camo'ed cache was soon found once my GPS settled down. Thanks for the cache and showing me this nice little patch of bush - favourite point added!

What a wonderful boardwalk hidden away in here and an interesting little story along it as well.
Track is a good loop and as in its early stages, quite bumpy and occasionally hard to see.
Nice to see the Kiwi hole and cam set up.
Nice little cache hide, and easy to access when at GZ.
On a side note, Great to see a Geocacher from the early days still around!

Out this way maintaining a couple of my caches so went for a bush walk on the way home.Cleansed my sole so to speak at the far side of the boardwalk and proceeded in a clockwise direction.Good to see a lot of predator control effort in this area. The hobbit sized steps were handy along the way, found the cache easily and proceeded to the other nearby cache .
Good to witness so many young native trees thriving with the added bonus of seeing a pair of morepork not particularly happy with our presence. Rosellas making plenty of noise up in the canopy. TFTC.
(1522) Yay a first to find. Lovely walk through some young native bush to pick this one up. TFTF
