In Christchurch with AlpiSteve for a concert and this was close to where we were staying. Quick find on our way to Riccarton Market TFTC MAKE YOUR WAY TO DUNEDIN FOR NEW ZEALANDS NEXT MEGA EVENT. GCA7ZHD GEO TOROA WILL BE HELD ON NZS LABOUR DAY LONG WEEKEND 26-27TH OCTOBER 2024
Our family moved to Christchurch a few months back, and since then we have had the privilege of hosting some of my Wellington Puzzlers group members for caching weekends. This weekend was TwigNZ's turn, and a visit to Lincoln to try to cache the place out seemed like an excellent idea.A quick find here by TwigNZ, in between muggles. Interesting history. You'd never know there used to be a railway through here. Thanks for the cache.
I very much love getting to visit the South Island. Until recently it wasn't something I got to do very often, but in the last year I've managed a series of mini-trips for geocaching, and here we are at the start of 2024 with another one. Just like my first SI trip in 2023, I've come to Christchurch to target a few specific caches to help with my Jasmer Grid, and qualification for a few challenges I'm currently working on.This is Day 3, and after spending the morning clearing out the Glossary of Geocaching series on my own, I had now teamed up with my friend ThatDarnBear, who has recently relocated to Chch and has been hosting me during my visit to the garden city. We had looked at the map and spotted a good looking cluster of caches in and around Lincoln, so went for a drive...It's hard to imagine a railway line running through here. Certainly there appears to be little to no visible signs of its previous existence. Luckily I found the cache very quickly thanks to the Hint. No issues to report with the cache, and we soon had our names in the log before replacing it all as found. Thanks for setting this one up.
Good spot if you know what youre looking for if not, you could be there a while! TFTC
After finding a multi to fill in a dot day, I had time to find a few more caches. I went for a walk and found a few along the way. On close inspection, I spotted an item of interest and there was the cache. TFTC, Biggles.
Hahaha, I made that find a whole lot harder than it needed to be good thing it wasn't a busy time down here... TFTC
#12,317. I was staying at my sisters place at Leeston and decided today I would head to Banks Peninsula to do the CANZ cache but picking up a few on the way. I made this one far harder than it needed to be crawling around. Approached from a different angle and soon had the cache in hand. Thanks Aslan* for setting this one up.
I realised this time I had made this far harder than what it was. Even the footpath was hot to sit on so I was glad it was q relatively quick find today.
Thanks

Came to have another look for this one after the event this evening. Instant find this time after crawling up and down in an extensive search last time. Always feels good to turn those blue faces into a nice yellow smiling one. Happy New Year Aslan* TFTC # 18,748

Muggle central today.......Quick grab from Mumbo11 in between muggles, while I stayed in the car on lookout duty.... TFTC
Gosh that was a great cache to do on the way home from a lovely family lunch.
Just before the rain hit.

Just cannot imagine that there was a railway going right here.
There were three of us lurking around the bushes on our hands and knees, so did not take long to come up with the find!
Kia ora! Paldies!

Found it today after a miss the last time I looked for it. Thanks for the cache!
I couldn't find this one today either - got in behind and went right along which was easier and less suspicious looking that searching from the path.
No luck today, I am sure it is there after reading some previous logs when I got home, will have to work a bit harder next time.

Today we finally returned and quickly found the cache which had elluded us on an earlier occasion. We got right in behind this time. Our second Aslan* station today. TFTC!
Came out this afternoon for a couple of caches. Hard to imagine a train station or line here, certainly no sign of it. Enjoyed your history of this, never been in this street before. Thanks for the cache Aslan*.
Was looking in wrong direction at first but wasn't hard to find in the end.
Thanks for your explanation of the railway lines, very onteresting!

The search was on at Lincoln Station. I finally crawled along the wall. Even managed to smack my head on the concrete wall. But finally got this one snagged and tagged. Cheers
Its a long weekend in Christchurch, with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby, and Star Gazing on the radar. Unfortunately clouds put paid to seeing stars but great event meeting up with the locals. Enjoyed visiting Halswell Quarry, Lincoln, Port Hills and running around after the Smurf family. Cool, fine days and NO rain made for an awesome weekend. Will be back again soon.

I love railway caches, have sixty or eighty or so at railway station in the Manawatu, Marlborough and Tasman regions. Many are like this one - no station building, no tracks. Just a bit of semi-forgotten history. A bigger cache and it would have been a favourite. Oh well.
The cache was a challenge to find, the dragon eventually went in the back and crawled the entire length.
Came down on Thursday night with Taybeedragon for a three day geocaching trip and to collect a rare cache type - so rare that this will be the first ever for me - a 10-Year Celebration Event cache (now rejigged as Community Celebration Events). But that, with some adventure labs and Halswell Quarry, was a couple of days ago. Yesterday we smurfed a bunch of caches, and today we are off to check out Lincoln (and another adventure lab) then head home at about lunch time.

I called in today and the cache is still in place waiting to be found. The coords still look pretty good. You do need to be on hands and knees facing the mews street sign and reach in to the first tree from the south west end kneeling on the foot path. If still not sure send me a message. Cheers Aslan
No luck for us today. Given 3 DNFs now and a last find over 5 months ago, the CO might consider a check on the cache.
No luck for me today. Was a bit exposed for to thorough a search so may be there.
Out on a Mad Monday Mission to tidy up a bit of Rolly town with TG and we stopped by to do the deed. Heading to Lincoln to find a few previous DNFs. This was one and glad to have it ticked off.
Thanks for the cache Aslan*.

After arriving to our motel in Lincoln we went for a walk to the supermarket.
The cache was on the spot.

After getting a note from CO pointing me in the right direction cache was soon quickly found & log book signed. TFTC
After a couple of DNFs I had the opportunity to check it out today and it’s still tucked away in good condition.
This is my second time here. First was at Queens Birthday in the rain & got soaked looking for it. This time was more determined. But alas was having a senior moment & couldn’t find it
First! For the new hide anyway. Yes, it's still tucked away in there.

Had a fairly good look- but the area seems so disturbed and messed up, it seems hard to believe it is there. Maybe next time!
The area has has most of the trees removed so I have hidden a new camo container. Aslan
I was a bit suspicious of this when the logs showed a most recent find about 6 months ago (the irrepressible Sonia no less!) and no logged DNFs since. At GZ, all became clear. The coordinates looked inch-perfect for the remains of the hint object. Its bark is very distinctive even after a near-ground-level encounter with a chainsaw.

A great morning caching with daughter! We set off rather early and so had a good taste of the frost. As the day went on, the weather progressively warmed up to comfortable temperatures; however, we did not measure the day in degrees but number of finds instead Thank you to all CO's for keeping us busy!!

On this cold, frosty morning, the stars were aligned perfectly... Husband would look after the baby, and mum and I could go out geocaching for the morning! Wahooooooo!!! Perfect, as I need to get the find rate up, but the baby hates being in the car... not very good for caching at all!!!! So a cold early morning start of waking up at 5.30am in order to find as many as possible before the clock hit 12 noon!
A speedy find with lots of apples about!

1st find for Mr Five. He liked the search and spiders. Thanks. Off to find some more.
Quick find. All in good shape. Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. BJ25.
7525. A beautiful day in Christchurch so we decided to go for lunch in Lincoln and fit in a few cache finds. This was cache find number eleven of seventeen for the day. Rodney found a broken beer bottle very quickly by feel and then, after using his hanky as a bandage, found the cache. You have to get your priorities right. We love these obsolete railroad caches, and own several ourselves. Thanks. Rodney and Iris.
I have been planning this trip for a while now as I had some airpoints due to expire and wanted to go somewhere for Wellington Anniversary Weekend. So I've made it a 4 day weekend and come down from Palmerston North for a caching road trip. I have two goals for this weekend, to get to 2500 caches before 23 January (which I've completed) as that is when I took up caching last year and to get caches on as many latitude minutes as possible that will hopefully qualify me for a challenge cache in the Manawatu. This is day four and my last day. I've had a great time and found over 200 caches but it's time to head home to reality.
No problems locating the cache here today. TFTC

Great cache! Quick and easy to find. Perfect for beginners. Best time to go is about 7:10pm nobody is around!
A reasonably quick find on a very warm afternoon. Left a few small toys in the cache.
Geocaching and holidaying here in NZ with SwagHo from Canada thanks for a beautiful country and TFTC.
QEF while visiting friends in Lincoln. Here on holidays in scenic NZ with HennyGeo. Greetings from Vancouver Island Canada TFTC.
Stopped the night in Rolleston and today we are winding our way back to Christchurch. A glorious day and ready for some quick and easy finds to boost numbers. We hoping to get to CHCH to do some Wherigos but having looked them us we decided they would eat up time too much on this trip. Gonna grab the Virtual in central CHCH though. Thanks to all who placed these caches along the way. Love the fact its easy to pull off and park. Surprised the country roads are as busy as they are. Wish we could have stay a couple of weeks and not just four days. We will return!
Soon found it. Sadly no trackable in the cache as indicated. TFTC.

Found after a very good meal at a local pub. Needed to plae a TB that wanted to stay in NZ as I am leaving tomorrow. TFTC.
