Off to Tasmania to get Flinders Island LGA and finally the last LGA for AU at King Island. TFTC.Continuing from Bairnsdale to Lillydale, Melbourne on our trip to Tasmania. A quickish trip slowed way down with caching along the way. Made it late to the van park, but all is ok for sorting the long term caravan parking via email.A bit tricky with blackberries and slippery rocks. Took some team work.

24-Nov-24
After the earlier rain, the creek had a little flow to it, not deep but restricted our search. All good as with a bit of log reading we realised the location, and was pleased for the grippier shoes to reach the cache with wet rocks. We stayed in Bairnsdale last night, with a day to cache and explore our way to lillydale. A little wet with light rain at times but still managed to cache along the way and stay dry enough and it stopped towards the afternoon.. Honourable mention to JJ's in Lillydale for the great Pizza, very yummy! We're heading to King Island, via Mallacoota and lakes entrance towards Melbourne. An atlas mapping challenge directing our way towards our waiting plane. Flinders Island, some mainland Tassie, before our target, King Island... our last cachable LGA in Australia!Having been caching for years on our LGAs, sacada and myself teamed up six months ago to tackle the hard ones, then as it happened, all of those that remained. We now are making our way to the last, Flinders for sacada, then King for us both. It has been quite a journey! Thanks for your cache.

Out on a Christmas break with sir_spectre, exploring southern Victoria grabbing lots of smilies, finding caches in LGA's and of course signing a few more challenges.
Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.

04-Jan-23
Stopped here to get more caches in a new LGA. quick find.
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

Thankyou to The Cappys for the Cache, with the creek swollen, I precariously balanced on the edge of the moat and felt for the treasure. To my surprise I came upon it quickly and was able to reap the rewards that Geocaching affords us. Regards from Victourer

Was in the area with the wife who works very close to this location, a quick stop and the cache was soon in hand.

Thanks to the cappys for the cache.

06-Jan-22
caches are rarely done twice

geocaching etiquette says that you get one chance to log a treasure online
so use it wisely

but we cache a little differently
often returning to the scene of the crime
to relive
to resavour
to review
to refind
the more the merrier

like here
we started with no intention to revisit
this cache simply offered a juicy opportunity of roadside success on the road to elsewhere
but when a treasure offers the bounty of a fat concrete slab, who is not going to take the opportunity to revisit and test out its waterproofness in a passing thunderstorm?
not a reason we've ever had to revisit a cache before and likely not again
but
the more the merrier

First of the day! Previous logs stating it was a tricky grab weren’t lying, if you’re short you may not be able to reach it. Requires very low level rock climbing. So stoked to get this one, thank you for the cache oddearth and jaycat

On a drive over to Warburton and this was on the way. Managed a good park close by. Waited for the GPS to settle and had to contend with a large fallen tree. At GZ the creek was quite high and flowing fast. It was a tricky manouve but finally got the cache. All signed and back as found.
Thanks The Cappys

On our first outing since covid started. On our way home from a lunch date with family, we thought we would stop in and grab this cache for our 700th. What a nice quiet little river. TFTC

17-Nov-20
Stopped at this location, and heading north was the best way to get it with a big carpark available. I then found this geocache at 8.45 am in the obviousplace, even if I couldn't see it. The water is running very fast today
Thanks for the cache The Cappys

The forecast is for crook weather for a few days, so I took the motorbike out for a run this afternoon. Of course I had to grab a cache or two while I was out. Thanks Cappys.

23-May-20
Relatively quick find together with Ultraterse, on the way home from a run. Saw GZ from the wrong side of the most, which made retrieval nice and quick. Lovely little spot, TFTC!

Found on 02/02/2020 on the way home from work. Thanks.

12-Jan-20
First find of the day. It ended up being in the *fourth* placed I look (and the first place I parked, before deciding the location was elsewhere!). It's been dry lately and no problem with water levels, just thorns that are dry and snag on pants at every opportunity.

Thanks Cappys for placing a cache here.

24-Nov-19
Found at 12:40 PM GAFF1.
Took a couple of goes to find the correct corner. The first one looked very promising and easy to access with a nice piece of loose concrete to hide a cache behind - but no cache [B)] The second spot was more difficult to access; harder to reach, but there was a cache there Big Grin
Thanks The Cappys

And again, another cache that day1976 has already found. He was happy to stop though, so we walked down and I wasn't keen on walking onto the slippy rocks, he jumped up, waved the cache container at me and put it back! So I had to go and grab it myself, but was a bit unbalanced so passed it over to him and he wrote my name in! River was very high due to the recent rain.

31-Jul-19
Having passed this castle on many occasions, today we had plenty of time on our hands to stop and have a look for this cache. Quite a bit of graffiti to check out before the hubby made the find without any problems.

Thank you The Cappys.

05-Jun-19
A day out with Crank1, finding caches we both had not found before. This was our second find of the day, in its nice little gift hole. Thanks for placing the cache The Cappys.

Found your cache today. The Cappys, thank you so much for placing it.

Pass the castles moat frequently in my travels. Finally had the right motivation to stop and sign the log. School holidays.
Tip toe over the wobbly rocks and dodge the razor wire. Success.

Interesting little spot. Unfortunately our pen exploded so I had to use a reed to write our name and the date haha. Beware of blackberries!

After dropping a car off and visiting stopped here with TSB for a cache. A quick search and we soon had the cache signed and returned before back on our way

Merry Christmas. OzHockeyChick, Geoturtle37 and I headed out today to do some caching. Nice relaxing day with next to know muggles and great weather. We have driven here often, even since caching. This time we had to stop and look for the cache. Thanks for placing it.

Over 30 years ago, this was the venue I was going to have for my marriage. Who would have known there was going to be a cache here in the future. We used the old bridge back then and yes, I have seen it under water. Thanks for the cache.

Stopped for this one about a year ago with no luck. This time I approached from the correct side and made a quick find.

Cache all good.

#2933

Since moving from New Zealand in 2016 I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T all multiple times.
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go to is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
I enjoy finding well maintained caches in fun and unique cache containers. No one likes finding a mint tin – but a find is a find after all
Well she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin' that there
Was a little more to life
Somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
Yeah, and if she had to die
Tryin' she, had one little promise
She was gonna keep
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well, It was kind of cold that night
She stood alone on her balcony
She could hear the cars roll by
Out on 441
Like waves crashin' on the beach
And for one desperate moment there
He crept back in her memory
God it's so painful, when
Something that's so close
And still so far out of reach
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well I'm a-runnin' down the road try'n to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
Four that want to own me, two that want to stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win, though we will never be here again
So open up I'm climbin' in, so take it easy
Well, I'm a runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
Oh, we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

I’ve been up and down this road many times over the years, once it was a detour when they were rebuilding the bridge. A safe parking spot off the road was also provided! I was lucky I had The Walking Ladder with me who volunteered to do the challenge. He loves a stretch! The hint led me to correctly surmise where the cache would be. A good hiding spot with a bit of a challenge.

15-Jul-18
Got to GZ and took note of the hint - how hard could it be? Not too hard as it turned out.

07-Jun-18
I arrived on my trusty steed and the assault on the Castle's defences began in earnest.
Undermining the walls has almost always been successful in campaigns such as this.
The moat seems to be in the way but if I position myself just right...
Problem solved. The walls are down! Victory is mine! [^]

11-Mar-18
Cool hiding spot

25-Feb-18
About eight months ago I stopped by here for a look, but as it was raining when I arrived the combination of swollen creek and wet n slippery rocks at GZ pushed me to file it away on the "search another day" file.

With some time to spare in the area today though there were no such impediments, and after a bit of initially fruitless scrabbling about due to overthinking things, along with shifty co-ords (that finally settled for me about 10m from where the hide turned out to be) I got back to basics, took the hint at face value and spied the container almost immediately - probably would have seen it sooner if I'd approached from the wrong direction to access it, funnily enough.

Signed the log, thanks for the cache, The Cappys.

Found on the way home from work. I cross this bridge most days and have often wondered why cars were parked there....

Off I go to Melbourne! Down from Canberra for a caching trip around the Mega! Big GrinCoolBig Grin

So the Mega had ended Sad BUT more caching had to be done! Big Grin

On my way to Sth Packenham for more caching. Parked on one side and wandered down. Ahhh there it is...over the other side! So instead of wading the waters I drove around and wandered down to make the easy find [^]

Thanks for the hide, The Cappys Smile

Found on the way to the mega event.
Not a planned stop, but worth it.
Start from the wrong side, but it gave a good view of the cache hide.

Well this was a fun find! Gorgeous little river! My daughter is going to a horse riding lesson down the road, so with a few hours to kill I thought I'd see if there were a few caches about. This previous logs had me worried about getting wet - I was envisaging needing to strip down to undies to wade in the river. Luckily GZ was the first place I reached! TFTC

Thanks very much for the cache.

Took us a couple of goes to reach GZ as we weren't prepared for a swim!

Sorry for the earlier crappy log, I just needed to log it as found to keep TB's and stats in order but knew I didn't have time to write a proper log. I have driven past this one three dozen times since publication, always in a hurry. Today on a relaxed trip up to GeoGranni's with my Geokids I took the time to stop and find this one.
More water in the creek than i expected.
Cache exactly where I expected.
Signed and returned.

Not much happening today, so decided a short caching run with sedgwickDave was in order. It ended up being a 2/2/2 day... 2 Multis, 2 Puzzles and 2 Traditionals. Cool

This was a tricky one to access, but dave made the stretch and grab.

Quick park 'n' cache, though my GPS was trying to convince me that it was in the mass of blackberries (spoilers: it's not).

Nice. Though I thought the location pin was on the other side of the river.
But from reading people comments I switched sides and soon found it Smile

04-Nov-16
Out for a fantastic caching weekend with some very special friends. This was one that we found on our travels. Many thanks to all the COs that helped make it a very happy caching trip.

04-Nov-16
Log was stamped as Geo Nerds consisting of Gonefishen07, Borisb&Natasha, Hearse068, Zobo04, and myself Bounty Trackers.

Gonefishen came up with the plan of doing the Lake Eioldon Geo Tour before it was gone, so we all agreed, Lets get up there and do it.
KTCvic was straight on to booking a place that would sleep 10 people in Bonnie Doon for our 2 night stay.
Gonefishen Borisb&natasha and Hearse068 and myself all meet up in Pakenham so we could cache our way up while DeJaVu and KTCvic where coming up later as they had to work. BorisB&natasha gave the keys to the Prado as she wanted to be a lady of leisure and be chauffeured.
We laughed all the way and just had a fantastic weekend away with great friends, cant wait until the next adventure.
signed log thanks for the cache.

Raining. Creek in flood. Rocks slippery. Working in the area I wondered if I could quickly find this one. Well my GPS was out (luckily) I ended up on the North side of the bridge, looked back South and saw it clearly. Now to get to it with the creek flowing full width and an estimated metre deep at the edge. I carefully placed my feet as flat as possible, used both hands to hold on and get to the cache. Cache in hand I suddenly realised I needed 2 hands free to get back safely. New plan required. Bucket and rope in hand I returned, lowered the bucket nearby. Climbed my way back, placed the cache in the bucket, retrieved, signed and replaced. Wasn't really hard but please be careful if it's wet out.

Find #1217. After two previous DNFs we were weary to give this one a shot. We looked in what we first thought was the 'likely' place and of course it was not there. Geohubby said 'it would be awesome if it was there' so being the closest to it I manoeuvred my way there and felt the cache high and dry. Thanks The Cappys for a fun adventure.

We managed a straight forward find this afternoon while heading to Cockatoo for lunch now that the boys junior footy had its last day this morning. We pulled up at the gz only to be on the wrong side of the creek and our youngest boy and myself made our way across to the right side of the creek and made a quick find. It actually helped coming in from the wrong side as we were able to locate the cache container and then set off and retrieve it. Thanks The Cappys for the hide.

16-Jul-16
We found this cache today at 12:20pm as number 5 of 7 on our Round Route to Worri Yallock Tour. We were a bit concerned by the last DNF but on making our way down, the cache was exactly where we had hoped it would be. Thanks from D, HA & H B-A.

I'd been in the area so thought I'd have a go at this one while I was here. We almost had our wedding reception at the Castle many, many years ago so I knew where it was. The rain was threatening so I checked the hint and logs before getting out of the car to maximise my chances. I was a bit concerned about walking on the rocks near the stream by myself when no one knew where I was, but I had a look around in some obvious spots. No luck so thought I might be on the wrong track, checked again and seems that's where I should be, so had another look but the rocks were a bit slippery and just then a cop pulled over a car right next to the bridge so I decided to call it a day and come back with Geodaughter to try again another time.

The forecast was for showers but Mother Nature had other plans for the day. Torrential rains, howling winds and bitter cold was the ultimate outcome. But what a great day. Venturing into landscapes not visited before, exploring new areas of this great state of ours, what more can one ask for.
After finding some caches up towards Woods Point in the hills, I stopped by here on the way back down. A sprinkle of rain fell from the sky as I searched for the cache. Spot on coords made for a quick find, although I had to cross the creek as I was on the wrong side. I'll have to come and check out the castle some time. Thanks The Cappys for the hide.

09-Apr-16
I was heading to Worri Yallock to run the checkpoint there for the Oxfam Trailwalker...and for unrelated reasons I was taking a rather circuitous route which brought me past this cache. As I still had a few minutes to spare, I stopped off to find this cache. Being careful to not slide of the rocks, I extracted the cache from it hiding location...signed the log and left a Trackable.

Thanks to The Cappys for putting this cache out there.

On my way to an event in Emerald I called in here to grab this cache. The GPS wasn't being helpful and I hunted around unsuccessfully for 10 minutes. So I decided to leave it and call in on the way home. At the event someone pointed out that it was a T3 so when I got back later I searched a little more intelligently and soon had the cache in hand. Thanks Cappys

This one must have popped up when I was out of town. Checking a new route for my trip up to mums I saw this not to far from my house. Pulled over the side of the road and made an easy grab. Thanks to The Cappys

Found it! {FTF} @17:40....woohoo!
Second FTF within the hour having snared one in Yering just 40 minutes earlier. This one came though as Mark was walking back to the car and as this particular spot is not all that far from our country retreat he knew exactly how to get there in the shortest possible time. Unfortunately the usual Seville traffic snarl had moved a bit south today so we thought we may very well get beaten. Once we arrived at the GZ we found a 1000 places to stash a cache but thanks to the hint Mark was able to make the grab quickly and avoid getting too wet. Held our breath while opening the container thinking that getting the ftf after an hour would be tough......
You beauty, an unsigned log, FTF No.21 and our 3rd in 24hours, our best result yet....
thanks very much for the coin and the cache.
