Found them all three. The last one was a hard one. But luckily found it on our last day here in New Zealand. TFTC
We came to Arataki today to do a school holiday Ranger walk and it was brilliant. Once we had some kai overlooking the stunning views from the visitor centre we took off on the nature trail. We were lucky with our timing as there was really heavy rain on either side of our walk.TFTC
Out on a tour gathering some information, sights, and, of course, some caches. This one took me a bit to find but I got my KTR on the paper. TFTC
#13,925. After a moderately wet afternoon the skies cleared and the sun came out. I decided around 5.30 pm it looked suitable to head out and do the adlab based around the Arataki Visitor Centre. I had not even checked for normal caches so was pleased to see there were some along this trail. Stopped here and the cache was spotted in the first place checked. That's a good start. Signed the log and replaced the cache where found. Thanks OneRanger for hiding it here.
**Sorry for the late log. I just recently noticed I'd forgotten to properly log some of the caches found on this day. I'd made a draft log in c:geo so it showed up on my map as an orange smile not a yellow one.**I don't restart work again until the 8th of Jan. With free accommodation I decided a geocaching holiday in Auckland was a good way to spend this week off. Most of the week I geocached with Yvettetb but the beginning and end I was on my own. Monday I spent relaxing with my family down here. Tuesday's focus area was around the Orakei Basin area and St John's. Wednesday we ended up caching in the Waitakeries and finished up in Glen Eden, New Lynn and Waterview. Today we're going to geocache around Blockhouse Bay, Green Bay and Titirangi. Thursday we decided to finish off a few out here before Yvettetb had to leave. I then cached around the Panmure Basin and the new subdivision Stonefields. Friday I was alone and walked the cycle trail between Waterview and Te Atatu.Today Yvettetb and I had a nice walk in the forest here while doing the Adlabs. This was an easy find. Thanks for the cache
Quick find once we looked for right tree lol. TFGC and thanks for bringing me here again. Our New Year caching trip in 2024 was in and around Auckland with Lis's Crew. Today we were planning on going in and around Titirangi after being unsuccessful yesterday due to various road closures on our travels. A great way to spend another sunny summers day.
Day 12: Waitakere and the Western LineTodays journey took us to Titirangi and Arataki in the morning to look at some Kauri trees and to explore the region. After that, it was a quick sojourn to Bethells Beach / Te Henga and then I took the train from Swanson to Kingsland to pick up some long overdue puzzles and multis that I have been meaning to get. Finally, it was on to the city for dinner - a truly busy day today, and thanks for all the caches and puzzles that I found! (End of the cut and paste bit)Heres the specific log for this cache:First one on the trail proper and the unsettled GPSr sent me poking all over the junction and there was the matter of educating my family about the Kanuka tree. Amazingly, it was my dad who found this one, and boy was he proud of himself. TFTC!
Away for the Easter weekend and taking a slow amble from west to east to camp somewhere near Whangaparaoa.
A ‘Road Closed’ sign wasn’t going to stop me, or several other people, from getting as far as the Arataki visitor centre.
After a few AdLab stages I set off for some proper caches.
All good for a quick find here.
Thanks OneRanger

First time out exploring this bush walk. A lovely find for a lovely afternoon. Thank you.
While completing the requirements of a few other caches we stopped and found any other physical containers along the way. This was a nice quick find.
After meeting up for the "dot dot dot" event this was the first cache we then searched for. Had just found it and we were signing the log when a family walked past. Waited until they were out of sight before replacing the cache.
Out in the Waitakeres in the company of Team Welsh today, doing the Arataki and Pipeline Ad Labs and any other caches we came across.
We enjoyed our walk along this track, with the occasional light shower not dampenning our spirits at all. A straight forward find here thanks.

We were out with Kiwicouple do a couple of lab caches in the area and as we were walking the nature trail we stopped to find a few trads as well. Lovely place to come today and despite the odd light shower it wasn't cold and was such a lovely place to come. Thanks for placing this cache.
Headed up here for the Adventure Lab stage at the end of this track. I checked a couple of places before finding the cache, but it didn't take too long. I liked the wētā hotel nearby as well although no one was home today. This is such a nice trail, so thank you for placing this little series to give me a couple more smilies up here!
Visiting Auckland from Brisbane to see family. As the rain didn’t eventuate, my son and I decided to come to the Waitakere’s for some walking and geocaching. My gps bounced around a lot but eventually settled and the cache was found along with a tb which has been here for more than a year. Tftc
Keylev suggested a day out to explore some of the Waitakere ranges, so we popped on over to the visitor centre and then decided to do the nature trail and the lab cache with a few other caches thrown in for good measure. On our way to see the kauri's and stopped at this intersection. Realised mobile phone reception was a bit sketchy here, but managed to hone in on the hide. TFTC!
Out for a short wander with Mrs NZ Travellers exploring the area and caching of course. As we got closer to this one our coverage was a bit patchy so we struggled but managed to find the cache regardless.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Found whilst out with keylev, NZ Iceman and Mrs NZ Travellers. Thanks for the fun and the cache.
We looked for this cache on the start of our walk but didnt have any success so on our return we decided to take another look and this time made a much quicker find. It helped to know what we were looking for. Blends in well with the natural surroundings.
I was keen for a trip out today, being the last day of 2020, and opted for a Waitakere ranges walk at Arataki, followed by an easy drive along some other areas of interest. Paired the normal geocaches up with an Adventure lab to yield double figures of 15 caches. Great views and nice to be out of the blazing sun for a little while. Happy New Year for tomorrow everyone!
First up here along this walkway. After letting a noisy family pass I soon got down to the search and soon had the container in hand.

A nice quick find thanks.
Ms_KR and I are up in Auckland for a break. We went for a drive to Aratiki to find an ice cream and a few caches.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Took a 5 year old out for an introduction to geocaching.... I think he was more interested in the baiting line. However delighted to 'find' his first geocache,
We didn't spot this on our first glance but on our second sweep it suddenly appeared. Blends in well.
Really love this Nature Trail. Thanks OneRanger

A nice short walk through the bush here with nufrat and Agazo, chasing a couple of caches along the way, TFTC
out with agazo and alunb, we're out here to get 3 caches, these guys could slow down a little bit for me with short legs, tftc
Lovely little walk and a quick find. Lucky I know my vegetation, mainly from geocaching! TFTC!!
I had come up to the Arataki Visitor Centre on a quest for a new Virtual and decided to go for a walk to test my new knee out.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
After the event in Henderson I decided to move on with some more geocaching. Enjoyed the walk. TFTC
After a neat visitor to the visitor centre we really enjoyed taking the nature walk and seeing the large Kauri along the way and cathedral of Kauris at the end. Track has been upgraded recently so it is open and in great shape.
We managed to find all 3 of the caches in this series without too much trouble as we went along and all are in good condition. Thanks for the caches.

Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
Found on newly renovated track. Not too tricky once we homes in on the hunt item
Family outing at the Arataki Visitor Centre open day. We stepped away from the excitement to walk around the Nature Trail. I had a quick look for this cache last time we were here, but couldn't spot it. This time, Miss Two and I had more luck - but didn't bring a pen to sign. Thanks!
After all the caches at the visitor center were done I had time to fit in one more. Our 4yo found it after a little search. TFTC
A brief stroll to stretch the legs during a break in the weather, nice wee walk (although part of the track is closed) Quick find, but had some muggles come by just as we were signing. THanks
The weatherman said no rain for today, but the clouds proved him wrong as I was looking for the cache. I can never identify trees, so I had to be more methodical to find this one. TFTC.
Staying in Kumeu and came out this way today. Couldn’t find this on both the outward and return attempts. Went to see the CO again and update him. He was surprised that I’d not found it so confirmed I was looking in right place. It turns out I wasn’t and the cache icon is actually showing in the wrong quadrant, it is across the path the other side where I’d not even looked. I popped back and there it was!
Thanks for placing and greetings from the .

Found during our holiday to New Zealand together with GeoFinn. Touring in a campervan through this amazing country; second time here, now with our son. 5 weeks was over in a blink; already plans for a third time.
Travelling, geocaching, hiking, kayakking, swimming, mountains, lakes, geyers, beaches; it was amazing. CO's thanks for your cache, it made our trips even more fun.
Did not find this one.

Not too busy here today for a Sunday. Nice quick find after GPS finally settled. Thanks
First one in the trail and made quick find. Not a great day but rain will not stop us. TFTC
My gps had me heading in the wrong direction on this one and I was unsuccessful at first. Decided to do the loop then come back for another try. After sending the kids back to the beginning of the walk I also had a better idea of what a Kanuka tree looked like. Second time around the gps pointed me in the right direction and quickly has it in hand. Was a great day at Arataki for the Matariki celebrations.
Decided to go for a walk this evening and then discovered that collecting a cache today would get another souvenir so changed plans and headed out here. Arrived after dark so Arataki carpark was closed, a good way of eliminating the muggles. Clear cool evening to head down the track, GPS jumped around but picking likely spots soon had the cache in hand. TFTC
Took the kids for a hike in the Waitakeres and to collect a few caches on the way which always gets them more excited This was the third find of the day, and having found out what a Kanuka was from the last cache it made finding this one nice and easy.... just had to battle some large spider webs to get to it, TFTC!
Which way to go indeed? Faced with 3 choices, Merlot58 and I took the 'goldilocks' choice (i.e middle of the tracks) which was the *right* choice for us. No idea where the *left* path went, but I never saw it link to the track we were on. Two of the paths were labled as the 'upper loop'so I'm not sure if we ever walked the 'Lower' loop .[?] And a well maintained and dry walk it was, which was surprising after a record fall of rain in the weekend.
The find was much simpler and easier thanks OneRanger

Once Pazza and I figured out how to get onto the track, it didn't take too long to reach GZ then make a quick find. Then which track shall we take? I thought we were on the lower loop track but it turned out we were on the upper loop track and we never did figure out where the lower loop was! A surprisingly dry walk after the torrential rain of the weekend.
Wanted a cache for today and its already dark now. Decided to go and find this with my brother. A quick walk i the dark to the GZ. Took some time to find the cache with the help of flash light. Will ome back for the next one in the day light, just to enjoy the walk more. tftc.
Enjoyed the walk down this track, very peaceful with no others around (which was a little surprising). Stretched the legs and got an education - excellent. TFTC!!
Dropping elder clarksonz boy off for a tramp. Decided to walk the dog around the loop. Nice to be in the bush.
Needed a sanity walk before returning to work tomorrow. The carpark was full but the people must be well scattered as there was no one around on this track. Nicely cammod hide.
out for a walk with Lokky1 second one for day for me took us a few mins to find this but clue was really helpful TFTC
Out with Hounddog2go trying to judge the size of the trees and see what age the ones in our garden are, decided to introduce him to geocaching. GPS was all over the place at GZ, we carried on round the walk and had another hunt when we came back past the spot, success this time. Tftc
There were a few people wandering around the trails today so I had to find the right moment to grab the cache. Really enjoying the hike around the trails though. TFTC! #955
In searching for the cache we saw quite a variety of mushrooms. I think we're here at a slightly different time of year than usual for us. Our GPS indicated the wrong tree at first but entire search had our feet on the track which was nice. NINO TFTC
Decided to go for a nice bush walk in the cooler part of the afternoon, lots of muggles about but still managed to make a quick find here. tftc
Hint was very useful here and right were we thought it should be, nice little hide and cache. Busy junction with muggles heading out for walks meant we had to time it right to extract and put back. One family of muggles seem to come by us every time we were hunting, we must have looked very shady. TFTC.
Enjoyed a lovely bush walk from Arataki Visitor Centre culminating in a spectacular stand of Kauri at the end (Kauri Cathedral). Thanks for the placements and journey.
Out for a couple of hours to pick up some caches with Nebulenz. After passing over the caches at the visitor centre due to muggle traffic we headed down to collect the caches along the trails.
This was the first one, GPS had us looking in the wrong place initially, but Nebulenz picked it up when we expanded the search area. His botanical knowledge coming in handy.

Out for a couple of hours with Hughie_ while the little cacher and KatMidd were resting. Considered picking up GC640AH first but had to leave it as Arataki centre was drenched with muggles. After a second or two of searching what we thought was GZ, we back tracked and extracted the cache! Thanks for the hide.
Picked up a TB here.

Woohoo! Found this cache while we were walking off our Danish delight! Cool cache, cool hide! Thanks very much for bringing us here. Beaut little walk that Gary and I used to do once a year on school field trips... Ah nostalgia!
Out with Vistra finishing up those we could get to from Scenic Drive.
This was particularly busy junction this afternoon but as soon as all the muggles had passed we soon had the cache in hand.

Yorkshirekiwi83 and I went out for a few hours this afternoon to clean up some more West Auckland caches. We took a walk down this nature trail, a trail I've walked a couple of times before, and found the 3 caches located down here. All caches were quick finds, but as there were lots of muggles enjoying the trails this afternoon, we had to pick the right time to grab each cache. A nice little walk, TFTC!

Catching up on some logging.
Needed a break in packing to shift house. Spent day with my parents around Arataki and picking up some Scenic Dr caches.
Admiring the views and enjoying a lovey fine day wondering the bush tracks. TFTC

I found this geocache with Cats&Dragons. He is trying to find as many T2.5 and D2.5 and above rated caches as possible for a challenge he is working on. We left on our mission at 4:30am to get the tides right for a morning paddle and so we could return back to Hamilton at a decent hour. If we had to pass by other caches with lower ratings we generally picked them up as well. We had a great day, the weather was fantastic and the quality of the caches was extremely high. A huge thanks to the CO’s for placing and maintaining such interesting, challenging geocaches in such cool locations.
This was our first walk in the Waitakaries today, but certainly not the last! We had a really pleasant walk around the area. C&D nearly walked straight past this one but I was onto it and quickly spotted this little camoed cache.

Well with having to work between Christmas and New Year there was little opportunity to get out and cache different parts of the country so a call was made to iammrwalker to see if he was around and could get a leave pass. All caches were signed as "IAMC&D"
On the affirmative for that plans were hatched which would take in a spot of kayaking, some great short walks up in the Waitakere's and even the results for a couple of previously solved puzzles.
This was the fourth of the day in what could have not been better. Our first walk of the day into the Waitakere's and a great way to start. a very nice spot and one that we both appreciated in being here before all the locals turned up before continuing the days adventures
thanks for the placement , thanks for the cache

Today Mrs Biggles and I decided to drive from one end of the Scenic Drive to the other. it's been a few years since either of us did that. We managed to find a few caches along the way. After finding the cache in the car park it was time to head through the tunnel for a bit of a bush walk. it was certainly a busy track today and we had to exercise maximum stealth. While the coast was clear this cache was quickly found. TFTC, Biggles.
