After lots of lovely logs for this cache, it is time to archive it, since we are leaving town for a a couple of years. Space here for some new caches now!

After having arrived by Greyhound in Canberra, we checked in to the hostel and started discovering the surrounding. After a traditional cache this one was the first multi-cache I've done in a while! Not too hard to find. Thanks for hiding Big Grin

With the worst of the heat spent watching a movie we decided on a walk around the Lake. This was the sixth of our fun and it was getting late but it was a lovely evening and Crystal Warrior was keen to try this one. All the figures found and computed and off we went. At GZ coords spot on when we found it but we still took a while in the fading light to nab it! Great cache domsky! A favourite too....

Monday 18 January 2017 - a very hot muggy still evening after a 40 degree day. Spent 2 hours walking around the city looking for 2 multi caches and 1 traditional. Found 2 from 3 caches and fortunately this one was found spot on GZ. Wow! Great place with large trees and at 9pm we were privileged to see hundreds and hundreds of bats flying low overhead into the city from down south - the stream of bats was endless.. Thx for the hint as without it we are not sure we would have found it. Thx MuggleHusband. TFTC domsky.

Came to the city for a ftf nearby with Aquilus1 and Anni-Lou. Aquilus1 had the GZ coords for this one so we headed off for the find. After some searching Aquilus1 found it. Tftc!!!

17-Jan-17
I had come in and worked this one out at the end of last year but with the sprinkler system in full force and then realising I had left the torch in the other car retreated home for another day. Was close by tonight for a ftf so was pleased to see it still here. Dty73 and anni-lou made our way past a massive possum population before making a search of gz. The dark and torches did make for a more difficult search but eventually the find. Thanks for the cache.

17-Jan-17
A nice stroll through the possums ( no really, a lot of plump possums!) to the GZ thanks to Aquilus1's coords. Saw this lil guy on the way. Took a bit of spidey dodging in the dark until the magic phrase. Found with Aquilus1 & DTY73. Thanks for the cache, can't say I've ever seen Canberra from this vantage point!

Needed a daily find, and had just (the night before) been looking at something on Faceblank and was reminded (by reading something there) there that the CO was moving soon and possibly archiving caches - so I figured I had better come and find a couple more before they go (that or if any need adopting/etc I now can, because I know where they are Smile
I was going to get another one first, but decided to drive there past this one because I had not been down the new little bit of road they recently put there ... used to be a lookout and a whole pile of 1 and 2 hour free car parking spots before they replaced that with a road) as I turned in to the new road I also noticed there were three 1 hour parking spaces at the side, and 2 were vacant - ok - may as well grab this one first Smile
(and after this one I then went and blundered around Blundells and found his bird ... and it was harder to find a park there, than at this one!)
So I parked in a space, wandered over to this interesting structure I had not actually been and looked at yet, Got the info, did the maths ... and something didn't add up ... Oops - helps if you actually look at what you are counting, or in this case - I had not looked at the space where the extra one I was counting ... wasn't - lol (the skew whiff path threw me out - lol)
Fixed what I had got wrong and things add d up, so I headed over to GZ ... had a look and saw nothing but an empty hollow where I thought the hint said ... but seems my sense of direction here was about 45degrees out ... when I actually looked which way North etc were on my phone I looked again - a better look in a few more places - and it seems the empty hollow was meant to be empty, because I found the cache nicely tucked away somewhere else close by Smile
TFTC - lol at the container when I found it Smile
Visited a pile of TBs too ... and a couple of them had fun being tourists and taking selfies (photos on phone, doing this on iPad - so I will add a couple photos later)

Dropped kid off in civic. Dashed to Majura to do the Meander. Came back to civic with some time to spare, so opted to revisit a spot that I had enjoyed when I visited Canberra as a 17 yo on a national camp (something to do with mathematics). Anyway, I hadn't actually visited the time capsule, so I thought this was as good a time as any.

I like the sculpture and enjoyed reading the information. Figured out the GZ and headed to another nice part of the park. Loved the container, but it was upsidedown when I spotted it. Signed and relocated to add to its appeal.

TFTC domsky. A favourite for bringing back some fun memories and learning some new things as well.

After dinner at the pub, I bid my friends good evening and ventured over to grab this cache. GZ was an interesting read and after collecting the required information I sat down to work out my coords. But alas...a checksum didn't work out! I re-did my maths and was still wrong...hmm better take another look. Very quickly figured out what I did wrong and coords were plotted. A short stroll over to GZ, and in between people walking past I made for a relatively quick find. TFTC

Interesting structure, and an equally good cache, thanks.

5108. Found during an afternoon run around the area. This one was heaps of fun and after checking out the WP, I headed off to GZ. It did take me a while to reveal the goods as I guess I was only having a mans look around the several options that I had. I guess that makes it even more rewarding when one is about to call it quits.
Thanks for the cache

#4863 - 11:15; After a miscalculation a couple of days ago when I gathered the information at WP1, I returned to the correct location today to log the cache. Made my way to the correctly calculated GZ, which required some reverse engineering using the checksums, and quickly spotted the container. TFTC domsky Smile

Found whilst on a trip from Adelaide. A great little multi and a cool container at the end. TFTC

Nice hide. Cache is a little damp but the paper is still ok. TFTC

A very interesting spot and definitely worthy of a cache. We had some trouble with one of the answers - counting clearly not a strong point as it also took us about 8 attempts to agree on the number of letters in one of the words [B)][xx(]. Looking at google maps now, it was definitely our mistake - we were totally going to call you out on that one Razz. So with our error still in play, it required a bit of reverse engineering to fit the checksums and come up with GZ. Luckily we weren't too far away. Then it took a bit of a search to reveal the container. Nice hide for the area. Great one for tourists. Thanks domsky Big Grin

Came out during lunch. Thankfully no longer raining. Got required numbers and headed off. GPS lead me astray so put it away and made the find. Love the cache.

I finished work early due to a 6am start, so I took the opportunity to find some city caches before heading home. This was the first stop. Gathered the info and calculated the co-ords ok. It took me a couple of minutes to find the cache as the GPS showed a number of possibilities. A nice hide. TFTC.

I'm in the city for training at the moment, but didn't have a pen at lunch time. So when the course finished early I decided to pick up this cache before catching the bus.

I'd never seen WP 1 so that was interesting, then a short walk to an interesting variation on the theme for the container.

So all in all a good cache. Thanks domsky

#2036 Given the prevailing blustery conditions, I had no real caching plan for today, so as I was in the city, I picked a couple of likely targets. This was the second. I rarely come over to civic hill, the last time it was about 36C and not in the summer just past. I collected the required info, checked it against the checksums & all was looking good. A brief jaunt over to gz & the search commenced. There were plenty of likely spots, but I glimpsed something that I'd seen before & had the cache in hand shortly thereafter.

A lunch time stroll soon had this one in hand.
It's a shame that this area is so under utilized. It is such a nice area in the middle of the city. Based on the amount of broken glass and rubbish laying around I would guess the main use of it now is for alcahol and drug use.

A good lunchtime puzzle. Didn't take us long to tease out coordinates, and the find was fun! Based on previous comments we were expecting something of the fuzzy variety, but what we found was even better. Thanks for the great cache! Smile

07-Apr-16
A fun puzzle at the original coordinates before a short trek off to the GZ. We did poke around for a fair while before the cute cache was spotted. Once spotted we immediately knew we had the container. Persistence paid off as did a slightly expanded search area. A favourite point from us.

07-Apr-16
That was fun....always like a good multi...especially when it takes to see something new....ish

Parked in one of the nearby car parks and took the walk to GZ. Once at the WP, all the info was soon gathered and a GZ sorted. Headed towards GZ and it took a minute, but the well themed container was soon spotted. Log signed and all was good.

Thanks domsky.....an enjoyable multi....hope I can come back to see the capsule opened !!!!! Fav point.

Today was a rest day for the SA Masters Hockey World Cup team so after a late breakfast some of the guys decided to take a stroll into town. When they stopped off at a pub, I decided to do some caching.

The starting point for this Multi was close to another cache I had just found, so I decided to give it a go. The clues were all in one place, and the checksum worked right away, and as the final wasn't too far away I went for a look. What a great little container! I almost overlooked it, but spotted it on the second pass. Nice one!

29-Mar-16
Managed to do this one during my lunchhour. Only 200m from work.

F(H)ound It! 10:30am

With Loci612 and Ambi666 - Good fun to do this nice multi with my new friends. At GZ Ambi666 spotted it while I was hunting and cursing elsewhere. Nice to have an excuse to wander on the hill and the capsule is an interesting structure. Thanks for the cache domsky

25-Mar-16
I have walked past this cache a few times now but never had time to make the find (which is very rare for me, usually the temptation is too high Razz)

Came out on a stress free Good Friday morning though with Ambi666 and ZimbaW!
After we all agreed on the questions and answers we headed off to GZ.

While myself and ZimbaW were looking a little bit too deeply and trying to hard Ambi666 made a very quick find and pointed straight to it! Awesome cache thanks for the fun!

I arrived by train in Canberra from Sydney at 4:23 PM today, went to the hotel, put my stuff in my room and went outside; after sitting down for 4 hours I wanted to walk a little. First I walked to this one. A little, offset cache; I like those. Most of the time there's maths involved and I suck at them. And yes, this time I didn't solve the puzzle in just one time again. Ah, Australia...

Then I needed to find the cache itself. That wasn't easy; my GPS was a bit off, exactly in between the possible hiding places. So it took me up to ten minutes but then I managed to find the cache. Thanks for hiding!

10163. Found during a bit of a caching meander around Canberra today.

With today available for some more gentle caching I cast the net wide for 12 caches. This was the ninth for the day. I thought a Sunday might be best to try for this one - mainly for the parking ! Grabbed the required info from the impressive monument here - calculated GZ - and wandered over. Found the nice container. Signed, returned, and I was off to the next one.

Thanks domsky !!

I haven't been on this hill for years. It doesn't change much though. With those cypresses it looks much as it did in the seventies, although I think the grass might be better mown now.
An easy multi and find. I was in Civic and it was nice to have another Civic cache. A favourite from me. I picked up the TB. TFTC domsky.

Blends in very well with the surroundings. My first multi in the ACT; within about 16 hours I've found each of the main three varieties of caches in the ACT.

Not purposely is this cavhe 400th found in Australia. Originally I was aiming for different cache closeby, but time constraons were against this plan:-)
Nixe easy cache in todays hot weather (36°C)...
GC dropped off - wants to Perth

I really enjoyed this cache. I would never have come to this remote site in Canberra had this not be a multi cache for me to solve. It did not take too long and off I went to GZ. Found in short order. TFTC

Took so much problem solving, so many mistakes on my part until I finally got the right checksums yey! Tftc awesome cache and learning experience

#998. 62 days in a row.

I had originally been thinking of picking up the ACT 1000 Club series as my last 16 caches to reach 1000 myself, but the rain yesterday and predicted for today put the kibosh on those plans. Fortunately I'd been given another suggestion for my 1000th cache which turned out to be more practical to plan around. I picked up this cache as one of my fillers on my way to 1000.

A quick one before hopping on the bus. Had an hour to kill before heading to Sydney and thought hey why not a cache. So walked to the waypoint, suitcase and all. Found what I needed and then a short wander over the parklands to gz. Where I made a quick find tftc

16-Jan-16
After some challenge solving the riddle a quick find. Found with MR whilst on a caching day around suburbs of Civic, Canberra shortly after Christmas.

02-Jan-16
A quick find on Sunday morning before we go home to Perth. Tftc

A walk around Civic collecting a few caches with the missus. Not too many muggles around to-day. I had a lot of trouble working this one out as I could not get a the last digit of the eastings, the number exceeded 9. After 15 minutes I suddenly realised that the last digit in fact could exceed 9. It was then a simple find. TFTC.

Headed out at lunchtime to this familiar location to do this cache. I have known about this monument since well before its creation as I was wanting to include it in the Canberra 100 cache, but it wasn't actually completed until nearly a year after the centenary, so obviously missed out.

Did the calculations then headed over to GZ to find the almost appropriate container after a bit of a scratch around (not easy to see in the shade!).

Thanks for the cache, the spot needed one!

22-Nov-15
Found on a lovely morning out geocaching. After parking over at the theatre, we walked over to the monument to answer the questions. We've been wondering what this was for a while - we even thought about making a cache about it (obviously, you beat us to it Smile). It took a few minutes to find the answers through careful precision. Once the coordinates were solved, it was a quick walk over to GZ for a reasonably quick find. I always love seeing these type of containers. TFTC domsky!

[purple]# 7846 @ 11:01 (ACT time)[/purple]
Together with Spade52 I traveled for almost 6 weeks through Down Under Australia. We made our trip, using a Spaceship rental car, visiting the 5 most southern states of Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Australia Capital Territory. Spade52 was the navigator and I the driver. We mostly avoided the motorways and mainly used the coastal and local roads that led us through many small nice and rustic villages and sleeping towns. We stayed in motels, backpacker hostels and occasionally a campsite. Luckily the weather was very agreeable during our trip with nice temperatures and very little rain. We especially enjoyed the nature, the rain forest, the wilderness, the (for us) extraordinary indigenous flora and Australia's wildlife. On our trip we visited many geocaches. All CO's thanks for showing us many interesting locations and special spots.
Today we went to Canberra CBD in order to visit some interesting spots and also found some geocaches. We parked our Spaceship at the tourist office and continued our trip by public transportation. Down town Canberra was amazingly quiet, but that's logic, because all the people working in Australia's administration are enjoying a free weekend. This geocache was easy to find. Very nice hide at an awesome location.

The only find for the day (well, for the whole week as well). I had watched this one come out a while ago but was far to busy to head out and collect it. It looked so lonely on the map though, having cleared out most of the surrounding area on previous caching trips. That was the main reason why this one was the obvious choice for a quick caching trip after getting my work done. I sighted a suitable looking parking area before hand and was ready to come and collect this one.

Arriving at WP1, collecting the info took a bit longer than usual but that was only because I was being super cautious with getting the correct numbers. In the end, I had a good looking set of coordinates and I headed off to try and find the cache. I must be losing my cacher instinct with all this time off as it took me quite a while to uncover the cache. I swear I had checked there before! Just not well enough it seems (ain't that always the way though). Log signed and cache replaced, I certainly have a job to do finding a lot of caches these holidays! TFTC domsky!

A quick lunch time stroll in order to fill on one of those blank dates...still got a long way to go in that regard but one more is one more and it was a nice multi to boot.

28-Oct-15
I've always wondered what that funny looking silver Tor was! Thanks for bringing me out for a look-see: with a special mention for the "footpath to nowhere" near the artwork.

I figured out the GZ coords at work last week and popped across on my lunch break (after forgetting a pen a couple times last week!) to make a quick sign.

TFTC.

Today I decided to head out and do a few multis as my map seems to be covered in them. It was a nice drive around collecting information and collecting a few smilies.

Another interesting multi with some very informative information to obtain, I have driven past this a number of times and always wondered what it was. Gathered the required information and worked out the GZ.

On arrival, it was a nice easy find, log signed, cache replaced and off I went towards my next one.

Thanks for the multi and cache placement SDomsky Smile

A break from the office was in order, and this was closeby. Found all the details and calculated the GZ, a short stroll and we had the cache in hand.

Have driven past this thing many times now, and have wondered what it was! So today, I finally found out. Very interesting! Of course, the question is, will the cache still be available to be found when the capsule is opened? Smile I like this hill - some good views from various locations. And considering I could see this hill from my office - it has a special place in my memory! Nice hide as well, fav from me, thanks domsky.

07-Oct-15
Having picked up the clues at lunchtime, it was time to put this one to bed during the afternoon tea break at the nearby conference. The spot on coordinates and a healthy read of the hint Red Face soon had me with the stash in hand at 15:35. Although I've seen those containers before, I haven't seen that actual style.

An interesting bit of info about Capital City. Smile

TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks domsky.

7/10. We were about to hit the hay when this new one surfaced. We do always like a good multi and this one didn't look to complex to attempt tonight, actually probably the best time of day to attempt this one!
All the information easily collected and we strolled over the hill for a quick search, hint was helpful as these trees can be a challenge at the best of times...had our name on the log smack on midnight for a *FTF* . Thanks for showing off this bit of Canberra history and of course the cache .

Found @ 1:46pm on a lunchtime stroll from work

I wondered why the previous cache, Mirror Image, had been suddenly archived after over 9 years of being a "virtual" instead of the multi it was listed as. It was all made clear when this cache was published.

As I approached the WP, I could see someone busily circling and figured it was a cacher so I went for a walk away from the area to let him gather the info. I hadn't actually visited the obelisk before so it was good to check it out.

After a slow stroll, taking some photos down Commonwealth Ave and of the flag on City Hill, I made way to GZ which I circled a few times trying to spot the container. In the end I had to resort to the hint - I haven't seen one of those camo'd like that before and wouldn't have found it without the hint I suspect, very neat.

Thanks domsky, a favourite from me!

07-Oct-15
{91} Found at about 0700 on a peaceful morning. Not much going on at the listed coordinates or GZ, so it was easy (i.e. no muggles) to take my time and make the find.

At the listed coordinates I was stunned by what I saw. That's one capsule that is hard to swallow! I hadn't noticed this thing before, or heard about it. Shows how well I keep my ear to the ground when it comes to local news. (I just heard that Australia has a new prime minister! What happened to Bob Menzies?)

Anyway, I gathered the required information and moseyed on over to GZ. I had seen this type of hide advertised on cache gear websites, but I'd never come across one 'in the wild'. Glad of the hint, to be candid.

Another second to find behind STORMCATCHERS. I wish I had a trillion dollars for every time that happened. By now I'd be a reasonably well-off person. If there was a challenge cache for second-to-finds somewhere out there, I would probably qualify.

Tks domsky! For the edumacation and the exercise and the overall experience.
