Down in the area for a few days visiting family and enjoying the coastal cycleway. Bike ride was completed by 10am this morning, so gave us the day to do a circuit around and up the mountain. Clever wee hide here. SL. TFTC. Smile

This was a gorgeous walk, like Goblin Forest. After doing the summit hike cooled off here. Very nice hide - but log was so wet I couldn’t sign. But indeed the Flying Ox and Daniel-son were there. Hint was just right. Kudos from CA.

Rascher Fund - TFTC

In our 25th day in New Zealand we stayed in New Plymouth. The weather was still good in the morning and so we went straight to the Taranaki region. There were again two old caches still missing for our Jasmer statistic and also otherwise there are some great caches here. And of course Taranaki is such a special and fascinating mountain. It was a very nice walk to this box. We wouldn’t have expected such a forrest at this place. For that we also leave an FP here. The box was found after a short search. Log is wet.
TFTC and greetings from Switzerland

The mountain looked fantastic this morning so I decided to head up for cache. But at lunchtime when I went it was hidden in cloud. But I enjoyed the walk and soon found the cache. Thanks for putting it there.

The mountain looked beautiful today, with an amazing amount of snow on it for this time of year.
This was a nice little walk, although it was a fairly cold day today among the trees.
The GPS didn't settle very quickly on the way to the viewing platform and didn't get any closer than 20 mts, but a careful look for the hint item soon had us with the cache in hand. Then the GPS settled and was smack on.
We left a pet rock- a bear cub and dropped off a TB.
Thanks for setting this cache up DOCTaranaki

Lovely sunny day and a chance to go exploring...and geocacing locally. Great little walk...Love this Mountain. Soon found the tree we were after. Tftc

05-Mar-18
Gorgeous walk.... too visible so covered it with a bit of foliage. TFTC.

01-Mar-18
Found it without searching! Smile) , because we watched the amazing trees all around there at that wonderful walk. Unfortunately Taranaki was just visible half its size, but this forest was worth to come from maximum far away - from Germany! Thanx a lot for the cash, we'll be back one day! Smile)

07-Feb-18
Easy to find during this walk Smile

This cache was an easy find during this short walk in Egmont National Park. At the beginning of the track we were surprised to see that the terrain was considered wheelchair accessible according to DOC signs. Once ReCached and I got close to GZ, we had a good idea where to look for the container. TFTC DOCTaranaki!

Nice hide!
I was there 4 times, each time trying to take a nice Picture.
On the Day i did the Taranaki Summit Track it was finally great!

Once upon a time there was finally a sale between CHC and NPL, and I managed to grab a seat! The anticipation of the holiday was killing me, as this was to be the first time I set foot in Taranaki, the last unchartered territory in NZ for me. Since the wait for the dates was unusually long, I even got a chance to do some planning and pick a few nice caches to look for. I was hoping to go for a few walks also.
This was a quickie - the container not very water resistant though. TFTC!!

Hi there DOCTaranaki - today was a touristy day around Taranaki looking more for interesting places than for caches (yes - I know... Shame on me). We travelled to New Plymouth then to Mt Taranaki and ending up back in Stratford. SL. The container and log are in good condition. Thanks to DOCTaranaki for this cache - our find #5282

Another spot we probably would never have noticed without a cache to draw our attention. Lovely spot, bit misty and damp today, which meant no views.
Cache is clean and dry.
Thanks for the cache DOC Taranaki.

Cache # 3,860 - A lovely walk with some snow on the ground. Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly were very excited on their whole "snow" experience, and were equally excited to find this cache. All good here, despite the large tree blocking the path early on. TNLNSL. TFTC!

30/05/17 16:25 After being involved with the original DOC caches in Rotorua and arranging a family to appear in the TV1 news item about them, it's always pleasing to find more DOC caches around our awesome country. Great hide in a natural location. Thanks for this, Cheers, GC.

After walking to the lookout to view the cloud covering Mt Egmont, we realised we weren't going to get to the coordinates, so returned along the track to the closest point. We then looked at a few potential hint items and soon found the cache, which for us was several metres north of the coordinates. We were surprised to find a dry cache here. TFTC

Wow, yes, this is a late log. This was part of a fabulous trip to NZ that got me way behind my logging. I've always liked to tell stories about caching adventures, and so even though life was getting busy, I told myself each of these caches deserves a story and so I'll log them as soon as I have time. In hindsight, I probably should have just logged them, because now many years later I have a huge pile of draft logs and unfortunately am destined to write a generic log just so that I can get back into caching. Having so many to log I think ultimately contributed to the several year slump I'm realizing I need to get out of. So anyways, since it's time to get back into the hobby, this log will have to suffice. Here's to many great adventures ahead, and the ability to tell future stories. This was part of a fabulous trip which I really enjoyed! TFTC! Smile

On our way to Mt. Taranaki we passed this cache. And of course: we stopped. A beautiful walk, at the end unfortunately cloudy, so no mountain to see.
Thanks for the walk & cache with a favo.

I really enjoyed this walk. Not much of a view of the Mt today, but I can imagine the view on a fine day is stunning! Pick up TB. Tftc

Great cache - thanks! Awesome day for a view too.

We've walked this often, but have only just started caching. Who would have thought we've walked past it all those times!

Stunning little bush walk. Heavy clouds so no mountain views today. Snow and windfalls instead. Picked up AirNZ torch n dropped off a trackable. Tftc

23-Aug-16
GPS coordinates send me into the bush, don't try to follow, as the clue says you stay on the track.

We had a good idea of what to look for, although we were expecting a longer walk in. The cache hiding place was soon found and the log signed, then we carried on to the end of the walkway to find the mountain just slightly tufted with cloud; a glorious view. Thanks for the cache.

{Ftf} at 10.35pm yay yay yay! Am I that crazy cacher that races out at any time of the night for a possible first to find?? Apparently I am... .. funnily enough I had actually placed a cache about 20 metres away from the location some time ago and the reviewer didnt publish it as there was a question which I never got round to answering, luckily for DOC and me I guess!! Had a fairly good idea where it would be which was good because the closest my phone got was 80m... a quick search of the area and then something shiny was caught in my headlight beam and there it was. With shaky hands (from excitement not cold) I unwrapped the treasure and found no other names on the log!! Took a selfie with cache and then hightailed it out of there due to an overwhelming fear that the road gates would be shut. In my haste I may have forgotten to add something to the cache....
