GCLOGAN TripGrimRaider and I visited this location to check out more history about Broken Hills mining. A cool EC and geology lesson. I am travelling with GrimRaider to GCLogan and then to western NSW on our first trip with the van. Thanks for hiding this cache DarknstormyImages
I came here twice today to look for a tradition I only realised this was here with a stage of a AL.Sent the answers in the motel room and now I am logging the find. Thanks to the owner for giving us all a geography lesson
Many moons ago, another lifetime really it was so long. I did visit here as a child and sure we did take a mine tour from here. It's great to see this place and very interesting to learn about it.After a long period of outback, yesterday we turned east at Port Augusta and enjoyed lush greenery and gumtrees of the lower Flinders Rangers as we passed through. Quite a contrast. Having travelled late, we arrived in Manna Hill last night to stay in their towns rest area. Waking to another very different scenery of flat dry country in a little town passed by most travellers, so many trucks, and the odd train. Goats! I love these tiny litte feral goats, it's great to see them as we drive past, yes, the little things amuse me! Took time exploring towns as we passed. Broken Hill kept us way longer than intended or we had time gor, but just made the time. And it was HOT!!! Only 30C but a different heat, still nicer than cold though! We pushed on late into the night, Nyngan was our limit and had a great rest stop facility in town. A good place to stop after a long but great day, thanks fir your cache!
Another long trip around AU over the top end with lots of detours. Now heading back east across the Nullarbor with a stop at Maralinga, Ceduna, Lincoln National Park, Coober Pedy, Oodnadatta, Broken Hill & Orange.TFTC. Another wander around this old mine.
Answers sent to the CO.Interesting place. Lots of history and great views. Thanks for the Earthcache.
Found with Zigzoggy and Barbie_OCE. Nice area to look and questions were realively easy. TFTC!!
Our few days in Broken Hill were spent largely exploring the geology, the history of the mining and also visiting the living desert and Silverton and beyond. We targeted this earth cache on our first morning, keen to see some of the mining history here. Answers sent to CO. Thanks DarknStormyDomsky
A nice view from the top of the mineshaft. Exploring Broken Hill after not being here for 19 years I just realised. Thanks DarknstormyImages for the earthcache.
Wow what a great Earth cache Darknstormy, and such fun to find and look about. Buddy the geodog helped us with this one. Found on May 19, 2024. # 9190Answers sent to the CO. Deserves a favourite point.
Out exploring Broken Hill on a cold autumn day and this was the next stop. What a fantastic piece of preserved history. Great to explore the area and to ponder the questions for this Earth cache TFTC
#19597 - 4:01:00 PM; Day four of a road trip taking the long way to Adelaide from the National Capital with the geohoney. Spent the night in Broken Hill, and after grabbing brunch, we set off to Silverton for some sightseeing, collecting a few caches in and around the town, before heading back. On return to Broken Hill, we did more sightseeing and caching as well. Stopped off at the Junction mine and did the geology lesson, gathering the information required for this cache. Answers have been sent to the CO to get the OK. TFTE DarknstormyImages

Stopped here with freddo as the previous finder helped with the answers, great bit of history here.Headed over to the Capital GeoBash in Canberra, ACT with Freddo over 5 days, travelling through the central part of NSW before caching around the hinterlands. A nice few days over with great weather. Thanks for the cache
What a great place to visit while in town for the weekend from Brisbane. I was up and out this morning well before the sun was up, to grab some caches around town before meeting up with friends a little later. Fortunately, the sun was up when I arrived here which provided me a much better experience around GZ. I wandered around, observed what I needed for the earth science lesson, read through the information signs and snapped some pics, as you do. I also revisited a day later with Mrs Gunnie so she could enjoy here as well. Thanks for bringing me up here, certainly a place I would be unlikely to find if not for caching.Cheers DarknstormyImages.
TFTC DarknstormyImages your cache Junction Mine - Browne Shaft that we found today we made our way south for Christmas. After leaving McCullochs Rest area this morning we continued on our route to Broken Hill. A short stop in Wilcannia to grab some info for a couple of multis. Arriving in Broken Hill we set up camp at the Starview Primitive camping in the Living Desert Park. We headed out to do some caching. We targeted some for today and this was one of them.Find Count: 17296
Day three of the road trip, brought to you by (many, many) goats, a lot of emus and an eagle. Another WP for the AL and another earthcache. Answers sent. What a lot of history to see here. [^]

Day 25. A last minute plan had been hatched to make my by way to QOGM. Very little planning had been done but a very rough outline was in place and it was going to be a day by day trip.I continued the journey home, tagging on with posums for a few days. After spending the night at Innamincka we headed south through Camerons Corner and then I headed further south to get close to the border.A late night visit here and I managed to explore the area. Freddo and Team Waldron headed to warmer climes around Broken Hill, Cobar, Bourke, Cunnamulla
and Charleville.
After a cold start in Broken Hill the weather improved once we got further north. Sadly our last night in Broken was wet which, pardon the pun, put a dampener on things.
All up it was a great week away and lots of caches were found with only 3 dnfs.
Thanks to all who placed and maintained their caches. The occasional cache was damaged and we refurbished it and we also left new logbooks as required.

We continued today our tour in NewSouthWales, AUS, and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Earth-Cache.
The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.
The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The answers were sent.

Interesting spot. Some of the recent mullock is full of red garnets too!
What a year Sandyofthesea and I have had. We kitted out the Prado and took off from Perth, Western Australia at the start of April 2022 to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. We started with the Nullabour, Eyre and York Peninsulas, the Riverlands, visited family in Victoria and then back in SA it got cold. Flinders and the Oodnadatta Track was amazing and we finally warmed up in Dalhousie Springs. The Alice beckoned and then a change of plan and we ended up tackling the Tanami Track to the Kimberley and Bungles Bungles. Territory Day in Darwin was unhinged - please try and do it! The Gulf, the coast and the car breaker ‘Old Tele Track’ to the top of Cape York. This is a must but it’s not easy! Eventually made it to Brisbane to get some fixes to the car….. let’s see where we end up.

Driving and hiking around wherever we can - searching, spotting hidden items and signing cache logs using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just a guess or plain old dumb luck
Plenty of the luck stuff actually !!!
*All the online logs are composed and published with GSAK of course.*

Warning ! Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Look out for sand, mud, floodwaters, snakes, surprise cliffs, roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- and do watch out for bugs !!! . [xx(]
Ensure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on (Covid cancels caching!)
Keep a safe distance - cache the countryside
Great of all those placing quality caches out and about around the country areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game fun, and interesting
Really appreciate you reading all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, apparently! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and we can put an end to these long logs !!!
C'est Fini.

Came to this location really early in the morning for the sunrise. It did not disappoint. Got some great sun rise shots of the run rising along the mine.
Enjoyed finding the answers for this EC, really made me think about the terrain that has been left behind once the minerals mined here have been exhausted.

Terrific to get up close to one of the mineshafts And read all the information that there is about it. Thanks for bringing us here.
And here we are. It is 2022, and after moving my life half the world away to Australia, discovering that Geocaching there without my friends was not as fun, generally trying to survive Australian fauna and flora and finding a job, only doing Geocaching on occasion during 2019, and then the pandemic hitting in 2020 and putting almost a complete halt to all traveling and finding, plus finally coming back to Europe to try and redo my life here this year… I have decided to sit down and log online all of the records I had gathered offline during these years. Some are lost forever (don’t trust your phone for years on end with offline logs), but hopefully I will manage to recover enough logs to paint a few broad strokes of what these years were, and the places they took me to.
Apologies in advance to all owners for this (in some cases, very) delayed logging. I can only say that sometimes we are not in the best place, and it takes time to find oneself. Thanks in advance for the hides, the places you took me to, and the stories you shared in the way.
-------------
Seeing how the pandemic seems to be spiking, we decide to stay within NSW for our Xmas holidays. But as we have not gone anywhere in almost a year, we decide to take a roadtrip and get to the furthest place possible within the state (yup, northwest corner). On the way, we go through mining towns, Broken Hill, Opal towns, Celtic towns, Casino... all the way north to Byron Bay and the border with Queensland, as we hoped to cross over to Brisbane to see a friend we had not been able to visit since all of this started.
Due to the crazy raining, flash floods and a spike in the pandemic and border closures, our trip has to go through a few changes, but we end up doing enough kilometers to have travelled from the west coast of Canada to the east coast of Canada, and all within NSW!
We start our trip heading to the Broken Hill area, where we spend a couple of days and visit Silverton.

Day 3 saw us head from Cobar to Broken Hill via Willcania where we had lunch. It even rained for about a minute there. In logs we signed as MK, F65 & A33.
Took our time investigating the required information. Sent answers to CO and permission to log has been given. Thanks for bringing us to this amazing place.

West New South Wales trip 2020. Day 3. I was joined by MinnieK and Fitzy_1965 for a trip planned to go from Goulburn to Forbes, Nyngen, Cobar, Broken Hill, Wentworth and Balranald. Today we left Cobar having found all the local caches yesterday. It was a long straight drive to Broken Hill with a few caches scattered along the way, plus a dual multi in Wilcannia along with a short sharp outback rainshower. We ended the day with an evening tour of Earthcaches around Broken Hill.
This is a great spot to get up close to a real mine. Lots of left over stuff around and a great area to see some of the last remaining evidence of the geology that drew people to the area. e-mail sent by MinnieK.
Thanks for the cache Darknstormy
