Logs
Looked all around the obvious places but no luck. Did not want to go too much 'over the edge'. Had no connection on site to read logs. Now that I do I guess we should have gone over a bit further. Maybe next time...
Couldnt find this one today. Looked for a little while but with all the work thats been done, Im wondering if its moved a little.
En route to Pūponga and decided to deviate to this historic sight. Beautiful day today - cold enough to see your breath! A little off piste hunting for Mr TEF but retrieved it eventually. Wet container unfortunately including pen inside. Suggest replacing.
After the rain of the last few days we wanted to get out somewhere so checked the forecast and this area came up best - fine with a few showers clearing. Boy was that ever wrong, should have been cloudy with showers worsening. Anyway, this was an area we found on the map and decided to explore as we hadn't been here before. We hadn't bought raincoats with us, just fleeces, so they had to double as raincoats today. That worked fine, mostly.
When we looked at the map, we thought we would be able to drive to some of these caches, but the road is an access one only for the workers on the hydro plant. Still it is a nice loop walk and we are now almost finished it with just the one cache left to claim. Our devices got us down to a couple of metres in one area, but we checked a couple of the easier options first before geosense and previous logs pointed us back to the area our devices wanted us to go. A faint trail split in two, so Andy checked them out and came up with the cache. Managed to keep the logbook dry as I signed it, then packed everything away again for Andy to replace as found.
Time to head back to the dryness of the car.

Four of us looked for some time, but we came up with no cache. It looks as if some recent work was done on the switchback, so maybe it got misplaced?
This was quite difficult to find. With the name of the cache and reading some logging we managed to find the hiding. Had to be careful while logging not to loose the balance.... Container is a little bit wet but still working.
Last one for us on this circuit. Glad we stopped here. It wasnt on our itinerary. Just saw a sign on the road. Tftc. Eatmorchikin from Brisbane

I wasn't feeling that great today, so instead of walking to Seperation point we came here instead...it did not disappoint! I loved all history of the walk The weather did not play ball either, so views were not what I would expect on a clear day, but beautiful none the less.
Another quick find

Found with RG1972. We came here for our walk instead of the original planned one to separation point and were not disappointed. Loved the walk and the historical story. Views were terrible though due to the weather, but you can’t have everything.
A quick find and all is good. TFTC DOC.

Took a few minutes to locate the cache but prevailed in the end. Log was difficult to sign as was very sodden. Many walkers enjoying the warm day and walking the track.
Cache was a little water logged, so have put log in a inner container which hopefully keeps it drier. Thanks DOCTakaka for maintaining tracks so well and placing the cache. Loved the loop walk.
Found with Tregearp on our exit from this loop track. Thank you DOC Takaka for all you work on this and the other tracks in the region. This was our first time on this track, but we are sure to be back with friends and family. All in good order, thanks for the cache.
Found this a bit tricky as following the navigation on my phone lead us to the wrong spot for a while. Eventually found it after using the clues. The title was the key

N15 for the find. The name of the cache certainly helped.

#699. Mr and Mrs Northwood travelled south to visit one of the junior Northwoods and explore the Abel Tasman and Golden Bay areas.
This probably deserved to be a milestone find, but missed out by 1.
We did the loop and found this near the end. Great walk, very interesting.
All in good order. TFTH

Apologies to the CO.I found this cache a while ago but stopped caching for a while due to the pandemic, and this find was left as a draft on my app.Found while on holiday in Golden Bay.TFTC
Couldnt find this at first, so Cympull and I carried on and walked the Hydro Walkway loop . Very pretty. Then went back and found it
This was on our return to the carpark after doing the beautiful Hydro walk. And I didnt bring a pen and heres a cache... there was a pen but definitely needed some nurturing to etch my name in the log. Tftc
Really enjoyed the walk amongst the scenic bush, an amazing race system that we had never visited before, and probably would not have visited if it were not for these caches. Although one of our grandsons came here on a school trip and his class walked around this loop track, so maybe his enthusiasm about it would have inspired us to come and have a look around.
The cache was a nice easy find as it was exposed, possibly the weka showing it some attention, so after the log was signed all was returned to the obvious hole that it had come from. Put a rock in front of it to stop it from going walk about again.
Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

Had a lot of fun doing this loop walk! Wandered off the path and ducked out of sight, and before long I was on my way back downhill, cache signed. BYOP as the one in the container doesn't work!
For us, from a flat country, a certain challenge!
Thanks, Greetings Häschensucher

.We are walking the Pupu Hydro walkway this morning. Stopped off here and managed to snag this one without ending up down the bank. Cheers
Its Sunday and we are off to Pupu springs before heading home later today.
Its a long weekend to Takaka, with Collingwood and Farewell Spit in the mix, with Zara Toby and Bullertroutss Bro. So lets go exploring. Visited lots of awesome places. But never enough time. I will be back.

Easy find on our way up the hill. Hot day so looking forward to dipping our feet in the creek once back down.
Found it! Further along the walk...shall we go on? Yes we will, seems a good path. TFTC
Needed to go for a walk so decided to come up here. Have done this walk before so didn't do all of it today
This loop walk was an absolute treasure to walk. Steeped with history and lined with pest control traps and crystal clear waters. Keep up the good work DOC!!!
This one kept us in suspense for a long time having started on the bush walk going anti clockwise first. With kiwitien. TFTC
Was goed kijken of we de juiste boom konden vinden, is gelukt, met Kakariki. TFTC
Most of the time Ive done this track the other way. In fact the first few times I did it back in the day it wasn't even a loop track. Found it after spending some time looking where it obviously wasn't going to be. A "Needs Maintenance" because there's no pen, whatever next. BYOP. Cheers and TFTC
Having a holiday in golden bay we decided to do some local walks. Would highly recommended this one we did the full loop about two hours walking. Was fun following the water along the hill side. Next time I think I’ll bring some little plastic boats to race along the water way. Thanks for the caches we found along the way
A quick find on our way around the walking trail. Would recommend going up this way as the track is in very good condition.

I found this cache together with my partner Pityulino during our holiday in New Zealand. Today we hiked on the Pupu Walkway and visited Pupu Springs and searched for geocaches on our way. This was one of the caches we searched for and found. As others already noted, the logbook was soaked beyond recognition. We dried out the cache container and placed a new (dry) logbook in a zip bag. I hope it will last long in dry conditions. Loved the walk. TFTC!
Down in Nelson for a 10 day holiday and one of our annual big treks in the wilderness somewhere in NZ. A solid walk and climb. Had a weka close by checking us out on the track.
Family outing with JegsBigg to celebrate the old boys birthday. Great spot to explore and go for a walk while grabbing some caches along the way. This time it was Miss E of JegsBigg that grabbed the cache first....VERY wet inside so etched our initials. TFTC
Found on a fab walk around the hydro. We so love it here as its great to be back. Stopped at Pupu Springs on our way here too. Awesome day. TFTC
Thanks so much DOCTakaka for placing this cache. It is a lovely walk in a fascinating area that I haven't explored before today. TFTC #9745
My second DOC cache for the day.
Glad that it is here because it got me doing the loop in the "best" direction, in my view.
I wouldn't have wanted to walk up that zigzag.

A bit late in the day to walk the whole track which I have done previously. Nice easy find. Container was full of water and log wet but was able to sign it. TFTC

We didn't do the loop as it was get on in the afternoon and we wanted to do a couple more before heading back to Nelson .A quick easy find Tftc DOCTakaka
Today we decided it was time we visited this area and did the loop walk to the weir and back. This was our second find on our uphill walk.
Thank you DOCTakaka.
Thank you DOCTakaka.
Our GPS disgraced itself here but the sight of silver through the foliage soon had us sign the log. A great walk up and up on a wonderful track. Thank you DOCTakaka
A great day doing a bit of caching in the area, it was going to be a shortish stroll but we decided to keep going and do the whole loop. it was well worth it too. TFTC
My second time around this track, just love it. It would be the most picturesque and well-kept 4WD track I've encountered. TFTC . BTW, that must be Southern Rata - - flowers between December and February - - - a real bonus to be enjoying flowers on May 27!!!!
Nice walk and the lookout point was a great place to sit and have lunch.

Now I finally know silver fern. My favorite cache on this walk with Skyryser. Thanks DOC for showing us this place and for the stickers. TFTC The-Shredder
Came here early in the Morning with The-Shredder. We enjoyed the walk and the caches. TFTC Skyryser
A nice day for a trip to Golden Bay in the company of Mrs SoBad. We had a great days caching and enjoyed many of the best spots the area has to offer. Another DOC cache which was something to look forward to in an iconic Bay locale. An enjoyable walk and find.
Thanks DOCTakaka for the cache.

Mrs SoBad was happy to have the team log on the second cache from DOCTakaka for the day. She has been on the track before, also looking for caches. That day we went anticlockwise and returned via the road. Today this was the only cache she and her fellow cacher were looking for on the track so didn't go as far as the weir. However, after this cache we did go further - to the viewpoint.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Another DOC cache I will see how many more are on the route of our trip back to Picton from here. Thanks.
Just home after our Golden Bay camping trip from the Marlborough Sounds. It was not a caching expedition but we did manage one or two . We were travelling with our camping group who, although not cachers, joined in the fun. Our travels brought us to your cache – many thanks, DOCTakaka, for bringing us to this spot. We’ve had great fun all the way.
A beautiful specimen in a lovely spot.

Quick find once at GZ. Then almost dropped the cache down the slope, oops! Kids liked the stickers. Tftc
It didn't take too long to find this cache, as there was only one direction it could be, although the coordinates seemed a bit out for us. Our coordinates were S40 51.406 E172 44.100. TFTC
Great to have another cache to find on this walk, which we had to ourselves on a Sunday morning, with still a little drizzle in the air. I could imagine it would be popular at other times, though.
We had a wee bit of trouble finding the cache name, the only one we saw was 30m or so from GZ. As we were wondering where to start our search, StreetWalker spotted one half hidden and soon had the cache in hand.
The third of four DOC Takaka caches we found on our long weekend trip to Golden Bay, and all have been in great locations. Would have liked to have gone to Wainui Falls for the fifth hide but unfortunately no time this visit. TFTC.

#10294. This one took a little bit of spotting; eventually I found a 'track' to follow, and soon spotted the cache. Nicely done. TFTC.
I drove over the hill to find a few of the newer caches in Golden Bay today. I was last here in December 2014 when I came to find the Pu Pu View cache. Today my walk was quite short, just as far as this cache. Coordinates very good here as they led me straight to it for a quick find. TFTC, Biggles.
Went the wrong way but found it once we returned to the bottom. A nice walk anyway & good exercise. Seen a black robin too but too fast for a photo.
Have been round this track a few times...never tire of it.
Cache very nicely placed....lots of walkers, but that proved not an issue.
Thank you very much DOC Takaka
