Cache check.I couldn't remember to look for a cache from Bum's blue period or Masterfoods' It was the latter in prime condition.Returned as found, secured against wild life as per the hint.
A bunch of stones at GZ, so many options. Searched for a while but did not want to spend all day so eventually gave up.
After rattling down, needed some recovery time at the hotel site. Exciting to see the remains of stone walling here, although it's not a good idea to use historic ruins as a cache hide. Pushed the bikes virtually all the way from here to Croesus Knob...
Had time to look for this one on the way down and came up with the goods pretty quickly in the fine weather. Signing logs either Bex or Beconaze depending on room
Walking the Paparoa track with sister in law for her 50th. Unfortunately the rest of the group were not cachers and I couldn't spend a lot of time searching. It was also raining when we started so the enthusiasm for waiting for me to make a find waned quickly.
Not this time but Mrs NZT says we will have to comeback!

This cache has been bugging me for 5 years. In that time I have booked to do the Paparoa Track 3 times, the first one was cancelled due to lockdown, the second was last month but an atrocious forecast followed by a slip on the Smoke Ho Road which meant a walk of 6 extra kms so when DOC offered a refund I took it. A couple of weeks ago I saw some gaps in hut bookings for this week so grabbed them. Knowing how much I'd searched last time I asked a couple of previous finders for a tip. As soon as I got here I remembered the location well, the gps took me to the same place as last time and I found it straight away, I'm sure I looked there more than once last time, obviously not properly. I started walking this morning expecting 4 days of rain but I'm now writing this log in Ces Clark Hut having received an email from DOC this afternoon, they are closing the Pororari end of the track from tomorrow night due to high winds on the tops which means I have to cancel the rest of the trip and head back to Smoke Ho tomorrow. Looks like I'm going to have to reschedule and try for a fourth attempt. Thanks for placing the cache bumandworker

First day walking the Paparoa track and first find. Took longer to locate than it should have and buddies were helping too. Thanks b&w for this placement.
Found with mumandme. A great day trip up to Ces Clarke hut. Stunning weather. Quick find. TFTC
A quick find with victorious one on a day walk to Ces Clark hut. Great to see some whio in the first creek we crossed. tftc
With a little bit of over-indulgence yesterday we decided the best thing we could do today was to try and walk off some off the excesses.
For sometime we have been wanting to walk some of the Croesus track but never 'got around to it' so today we headed off out there hoping the rain gods would stay away; and they did mostly.
We knew the road had been upgraded having had No 1 grandson one of the work crew here, it's a far cry from the previous one which we last drove on several years ago, but still a bit bumpy in places.
Hazedarus found this while I was looking elsewhere.
Thank you bumandworker.

A festive day of over-indulgence and a new cache asking for a FTF combined into a pleasant day out. So we rolled the new and the old in one and went caching. The weather played its part too and held back until we were on our way back home again. The "Road to Croesus" sure has morphed into a "Road" since I last was passing here on my way to Ces Clark hut. Spring growth hid the easy way in to this cache which we passed unknowingly. We followed the arrow to where we needed to be and then realised we could improve on getting back on track again. Thank you bumandworker
Not the nicest day to be scrabbling around the undergrowth looking for a small plastic container.
I spent a good 15 minutes looking all over but nothing for me today.

Good spot for first stop after starting this great walk. Paper in cache is ripped and slightly wet. Thanks for cache.
TFTC a good little spot but no time for a beer as it feels like rain in the air
I'm out hiking the Paparoa Track from Smoke-Ho carpark through to Punakaiki. A beautiful walk with great weather the entire time. Stopped to look for this cache along the way and made a quick find right where the GPS indicated. TFTC!
Over this way biking the Paparoa Track. Had a reasonable look for this cache and although tired could not find. Checked a few areas and found suitable hint items but could not locate. Could be still there but not for me today, so will log as a DNF and will watch this space.
Did on return from abbreviated attempt to walk the new Paparoa Great Walk. Garmin was somewhat confused, and I spent quite some time searching before spotting the telltale.

On the way up and the way down I could not find. Up and down in one day and was getting late so had to move on.
We tried on the way in and on the way out but this one eluded us too. Pretty exhaustive search but no joy I am afraid
The pub was dry and so was the caching. Don't you just hate it when everyone says how easy that one is and half an hour yesterday and another half hour today and nothing to show for it. Beautiful spot though. It's hard to imagine a bustling hotel being here
A hotel stop may have improved my mood and could have been a good place to wait and see if the rain that wasn't forecast would stop. Alas the hotel could not be located but the cache soon was. One of the easier finds along this track.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.
