I had noticed this odd statue some time ago but what I failed to notice was that there was a cache hiding nearby until today. Thanks hazedarus.
The dragon and I were here some time back, and found lots of good places to hide a cache - lots of good places where there was no cache. Back here again, and I found it in the first place I looked - well, felt.
Taybeedragon and are in Nelson yet again - three objectives this time. Some lab caches, a challenge cache, and hunting down the wonders of the world. With the geocaching app, the wonders are easy - each time we find a cache we removed its wonder from the filter, leaving only wonders we hadn't found yet - made for a nice fast solution.
Oh - and to find a rare cache type. So rare, that in all my 14,000 finds, I had only ever found one other. Now it's two. Found all the Wonders, now just filling in time and working our way to that challenge cache.

.We had searched here before. This time The Seagnoid had it snagged in no time flat. Cheers
Another weekend exploring Nelson with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby. Early start from Blenheim on Saturday. We are after The Wonders of the World, some LAB caches, also Nanzies Event to visit our caching family and visiting family in Motueka. Cold morning and beautiful days made for an awesome weekend.

There weren't too many places it could be, given the size of the container.
You won't spot it, just go (feel, grab) for it.
That's what I did and was lucky to find it in the second spot I went for.
Not vegemite anymore, just plain white, but all good and dry. I was the first to sign a new paper saying "Replacement log".
Now that's an interesting story here! Thanks for bringing me here!!

Out with Taybeedragon and TaybeeNZ on an egg laying expedition. Since we were sort of nearby we stopped by here. Lots of really good cache hidey holes, but no cache

Filling in some time, and getting my numbers for 12 March up to 26, so picked up a few easier caches around Wakefield. Initially I couldn't find it, then re-searched more thoroughly and found it. TFTC.

What a wonderfull time. I`'m visiting NZ for 10 weeks and find a lot of beautiful places. Nice views and some pretty caches. With my wife kaari74 we log some of these caches. One of them is this one. Thanks all owners for your job.
A quick and easy find. Cheers
We are on our way back south now, a lovely day for driving and not too much traffic. Signed the log as Ms+Mr KR.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Headed out in the heat to grab today's cache. Wanted an easier one as it was too hot to do anything else and this one fit the bill. Lovely to stand in the shade while finding and signing the log sheet. Not too many people about in Wakefield, must all be at the beach or river etc. Cache replaced where found, time to head back into the sunshine and the car. tftc TB dropped
I tried to find this one on the way to the park with no luck. We walked out this way, hoping to find it when I had a stroke of luck & made a nice find. Find #461
Quick find. Have always driven through but never stopped in Wakefield. Log is very full and needs replacing.
We found this a long time ago with Nana and Grandad but we did not have our own account then so we found it again and put our own name on the log. We had a picnic at the park and a play on the flying fox, it was fun. Thank you
My brother found this one today. We have been here before one day when we were going for a swim at the pool. Today we had a play on the flying fox before finding the geocache. Thank you
TFTC nice quick while waiting for takeaways. Great discussion over the meaning of the symbol.
Home now after a few days away in our caravan in the top of the SI. Had great weather all the way and managed to collect a cache or two, and explore the local countryside. Thanks, hazedarus, for the cache, and the opportunity to explore part of your piece of NZ.
My man took me on a caching exploration...hitting the road between Brightwater and Wakefield...After a slow start to the year I have got my caching mojo on and am trying to hit 365 for the year! Unfortunately I stood in a gift left by a horse at this spot...thought I could smell something horsey...lol. TFTC
Wow, how weird is that? A statue of Nixon. Is that a bit like a statue of Trump now? Anyway, see what you have done there with the name and location, nice work Hazedarus. Quick find too, due to the hint.
Day 2 of our weekend in Nelson. Today's caching target was Wakefield and Brightwater, places we were not too familiar with. All up a successful day by our standards - 26 or so found with a couple of DNFs for various reasons, but we had a good brunch out at Brightwater and got to briefly meet a CO on our travels. A few good walks and a decent amount of multis to allow us to learn more about these towns. Thanks to all COs for the caches. We will be back, hardly scratched the surface

The cache was abit harder than I though - especially because I thought I had already looked there! We have had this TB as recently as last month but decided to move it along anyway to gain more points in the Mary Hyde souvenir event. Thanks for placing the cache and adding to our smilies
Eventually found it, still intact but minus tether. Sorry - we didn't have anything to re-attach it with so pushed it well in. TFTC
The original cache container was on a leash to prevent cache creep and/or local wildlife taking it along. The leash has been removed more than once but the cache returned as found. It is now without a leash, will stay that way and will be archived if it goes missing.
Found with TregearP whilst checking out property in the area. An interesting back story of the building, and seeing the statue leaves one somewhat unsure about what goes through peoples minds when designing and building homes.
A quick find with the cache in good order - but no longer tethered.
TNLNSL, TFTC.

Another great weekend in Nelson, managed to sneak a little bit of caching in between viewing places. All in good order, TFTC
A very odd place to find a Nixon statue.

Haha wow I had no idea this was here. Sat and read some more of the story too, I'll look deeper later tonight - quite interesting. Thanks for the cache, leash is broken but container still safe and sound.
Scrambled through the aga with hands only and came up trumps.....or nixons......both totally incapable of running the country. Thanks hazedarus...good work.
Finished playing golf at Totaradale and had time on my hands before heading to the airport to pick my wife up and so an opportunity to pick up a couple of local caches. A quick find and observed this unusual residence and weird statue. TFTC
Quick find. Am sure this wasn't in this spot last time but no matter, found it now. Thanks for the hide!

No more leash on the cache container but at least Nixon is still there and is still stoked about his victories!
Of course we all know how to google but it would be nice if a short summary on the Nixon statue and the property itself would be in the description as well. [Behind the Nixon statue](http://www.stuff.co.nz/nelson-mail/news/8373545/Behind-the-Nixon-statue).
Oh, so apparently the property, Nixon included, was on sale this year. [Mansion office of publishing company Haldeman LLC on sale for $1.1m](http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/home-property/81047626/)
And just for a price of a normal Auckland house!

Last one for the day, out on a afternoon bike ride, just got container back before muggles came along the path.
This track is very special to us as it is named after a good friend of ours who recently passed away, so it was nice to find this cache. Dropped off trackable here. TFTC
Paddle chick and I shot out to Wakefield to get a few caches. As it was dark we couldn't see very much so it was a quick stop and grab. Tftc hazedarus
Out and about finding a few "new" caches.
Been here before I recall.
A very interesting "residence" and statue.
Grateful for the leash. It helps.
Discovered the TB.

Parked up and had my hands on the cache thirty seconds later. loved the statue!! Thanks hazedarus!!
A second consecutive week with a trip over the hill for another couple of dozen caches, or just shy of that number. This weeks target was to get a couple of Multis, which have become the neglected cache type lately due to a focus on puzzle caches instead. Also a hope to get a few more (solved) Bakers Dozen caches along with a couple of random others, including the South 41 degrees Challenge cache which I see I qualify for too, yay.
A successful day and the weather this side of the hill was significantly better than the Blenheim side today, has been quite grey and dreary over this side, so I hear. Even bumped into cacher The Wonder Stuff and we found one together, which was nice. Had 3 1/2 hours caching today before I had to collect the family from their shopping exploits.
Slowly heading on back towards the mall in a slow caching loop. The container has slipped it's leash now I've read the cache page but should be O K

I had been leaving this cache to do on a bike ride but today I found myself nearby in the car so couldn't resist. I had seen the monstrosity before the cache was published and assumed it was Exclusive Bretheren related. The cache and link to the article made it clear I was wrong. An even weirder explanation. Good to know the story and the cache was a nice wee hide.
Thanks hazedarus for the cache.

It was a beautiful day so we headed out for nice drive and to pick up a few caches. This was number eight and we didn't expect to see Richard ! A nice spot and an interesting place. TFTC.
#10344. Not much time for caching today (had to spend some time packing), so we headed to Wakefield to find the only two caches in that area that we had not found. Troodles got to GZ first, but went too far down the path, and I was the one to lay hands on the cache. TFTC.
Went for a short Sunday afternoon drive to look for the remaining unfound Wakefield caches. This one had popped up since our last visit and it didn't take StreetWalker long to find it while I was having a fossick a metre further down the path. Swapped TBs.
The path now stands out with the new signage. Once we got back into the car, a couple of girls came along and headed up the path so lucky it was a quick in and out. TFTC.

I remember reading about the chap who owns this place a month or so back. He certainly sounds a character and his choice of garden ornament does nothing to change that view. Two sides to every story though I guess.
Back to matters geocaching, I needed to have a rummage in a few possible places before I got a bit of a lead, which in turn led me to the cache.
This reminds me that I still have unfinished caching business to attend to in Faulkner Bush another day, but thanks for this hide.

November in Europe, the dark month, neighter autumn nor winter: short days, rain, fog. Everywhere unlucky people.
But now we are in NZ. Early sunrise, mighty green and flowers everywhere. Happy cows and sheeps also. We delight look forward to such lovely challenge. Thank you NZ. Greetings from Germany, from the mountains of Harz. TFTC

Yeah all a bit pretentious eh! Something I read said something like people should work in an appropriate environment. - - - It's all looking a bit sad and tired and it can't be that old! I was too busy looking around - - -following the path - - - to notice where the cache was so had to do a bit of backtracking. - - - Still, Wakefield is a long way to go just for a cache . TFTH .
Mrs Sobad could picture where the walkway had to be from the description although she had never spotted it before. Interesting to know what the statue is of - she had wondered. A team trip this afternoon after a power cut delayed plans for the day, but it was still sunny when we made the short walk from the car. The GPS had us further along the walkway at first so it was not an instant find. But then it settled and SoBad spotted the cache in a logical spot.
Thanks.
Thanks.
