Found by The Empire + HThe warmth of the day still lingered despite the lack of sunshine, creating a peaceful, almost dreamlike atmosphere as we began our drive this morning. The countryside around us was alive with the freshness of spring, and along the roadside, patches of native orchids peeked out from the undergrowth. Their delicate pinks, whites, and purples added bursts of colour to the landscape, standing out against the green hills and eucalyptus trees. Driving up to the ferry landing, the wide river stretches out before us, calm and peaceful under the overcast sky. The ferrya small, sturdy bargegently drifts back and forth, shuttling cars and people across the river.Reaching the other side, we drive into Mannum and make our way to a local bakery for lunch. The smell of fresh bread and pastries greets us as we walk in, and the display case is filled with savory pies, sausage rolls, and sweet treats. After choosing a hearty selection, we sit outside to enjoy the meal. The quiet hum of the town, paired with the warmth of the food, creates a perfect break before we continue exploring.Checking my GPSr - looks like a cool earthcache across the street - a quick check of the rocks and we were back in the car, ready to tackle the afternoon's trails. Answers sent, thanks for the earthcache LB.-MEarthcache #443
this opened my eyes from a very boring wall to a very interesting site and the more you look the more you find. thanks for the great cache
Did a day trip here from the Barossa Valley. Took a walk along the river, had a bite to eat, and did this earth cache. TFTC.
We were over visiting the area for our 30th wedding anniversary as our bridesmaid lives in Murray Bridge (has done all her life). We ended up in Mannum via the free ferry just for something different to do. It's a great little town and wow...those flood marks!!
Found 3 days ago whilst staying in Mannum but hadnt log. Was certainly interesting checking cliff for shells etc. CO has emailed answers were correct. TFTEC
Late this afternoon we visited the site for this earthcache. We had visited the site some years ago to look for a cache but had not inspected the surfaces of the sedimentary layers carefully. The structures of the layers and the embedded items are fascinating. Answers to the questions have been forwarded to the CO.Thanks LiB for another quality earthcache - it earns a favourite from us.
We were in town for an event and, after a stop at the bakery, we headed here to check out this interesting formation. Found with SQUIRM. Answers have now been sent. Thanks for the earthcache LB

Thanks LiB for bringing me to see this unusual formation, after travelling from Victoria, via an overnight stop at Murray Bridge and Mannum, to attend the event there, en route to the MEGA.Thank you for validating my answers.
Did this one with cybergranV Answers have been sent and approved of.Thanks so much LiB for the placement of this earthcacheIt was a big drive from Corryong, in the North East of Victoria.I collected a couple of geo caches along the way to fill in some new LGAs.I have collected the south Australia souviner plus the leap year souviner too YAY!!It has been a big few days enjoying Adelaide and the surrounding areas. .So glad to be here I have thoroughly enjoyed myself
Today myself and loci612 woke up in Murray Bridge and headed straight to Mannum for the Amazing Breakfast event! It was another great little catch-up before we returned to Murray Bridge to grab some caches in town. Our main goal of today was to find the webcam cache at Victor Harbour, so we focused our day on getting there, caching locally, and then heading into Adelaide for the first official mega side event at the parklands! It was a successful caching day in & around Victor Harbour, we even managed to get one of the best webcam photos the cache page has ever seen! Thanks to all the COs-This Cache10 minutes until the event down the road started, so we pulled over here and decided to use that time for this Earthcache lesson! A really interesting geology lesson here, especially for a carpark EC! A great example of a coral reef embedded into limestone. Answered the questions sent to the CO by loci612 for us both which have been sent off, and pic uploaded

GC65W7M Mannum FormationA group of us are down from Darwin and Brisbane in preparation of the leap year event. Today we head from Mannum to Adelaide picking up various caches. First stop here before we head off. Answers sent in by TeamARF. TFTC LB
We were in Manum for a breakfast event where breakfast wasnt available after all, but while here I decided to do a few caches around the town. There were two caches based in this carpark; a Multi and this Earthcache, no Traditional was on my map, two caches with only one carpark needed seemed a good deal! Old quarries are great for getting a good look at the land profile. Ive done a few Earthcaches in old quarries. This is very accessible with the added attraction of car parking!
Continuing on with my South Australian caching tour and the mad collection of caches in the state. I am again part of the BOLD 7 team doing the mad assault on as many caches as we can. Today is going to be a mad long day as I am driving to Mt. Gamber and surrounds to chase some LGAs and some special caches. So glad to have finished off over the 300 of the Bike series, the ice cream cone art was fun, the anna tommy art was hot, the stayla challenges were cool. Now to move onto a different area of the state. OH the big Lobster is on the cards today. Love a Big Thing rings true today.First off today is the morning event. Was nice to see so many people turn up to the event. From there it was off on the drive.I am really loving the countryside of this state and the people are friendly while still watchful of you.We signed the caches as BOLD 7 and replaced them as we found them. Thanks for the hides and the great caches. Mum we will be late home.Answers were sent by the team Secretary TeamARF
How very exciting the big trip has finally arrived! Down from Brisbane with a host of other geo friends with plans aplenty, enough to almost see us needing to extend or make a return visit. Our geonick for the trip is BOLD7 which is guaranteed to save the log paper for the 7 individual members of the team. As we make our way around sadly there wont be time for the usual individual logs and therefore just the old generic log will have to do. With little extra notes here and there if needed. Thank you for your cache which has added to my wonderful caching holiday. All challenges will be checked for qualifying at a future time.
BOLD7 having a fab time in Adelaide and surrounds. Lots of laughs and some brilliant inventive caches.!thanks to all the COs enjoyed investigating here! Answers sent for the team by TeamARF
Out and about collecting more smilies. Signed with Leap mega team nickname BOLD7. Thanks for hiding and maintaining the cache.Answers for Team BOLD7 were sent by TeamARF.
The morning started early, vacating our accommodation on the outskirts of Mannum so a BOLD07 team member could host a b'fast event alongs side the mighty Murray.Just before the event kicked off we dropped by GZ to check out the formation and pick up answers for the multi. With two sets of info, we went further into town for nourishment to sustain us for our day which will see us in Adelaide this evening. The Mannum formation was already known to the BOLD07 as the back boundary wall of our accommodation was the same formation (which we admired with a beverage in hand). I forwarded answers to the CO on behalf of the BOLD07. Thanks for highlighting the Mannum formation LB.
Found with the SQUIRM team. We've made the journey down from SE Queensland for the MEGA, so booked ourselves in for a week and a bit, of fun, Festival and caching. After a morning event we are now doing a bit of exploring around the area. Answers sent by Davinells on behalf of the team. Thanks for the cache ????
Its day 6 and Team SQUIRM are heading east, weve picked up a QLD hitchhiker to make a team of seven for the day. After the event nearby we headed over to check out the rocks. A really impressive rock feature and really cool to see all the tiny shells embedded within. Thanks for highlighting this area LBFind #5636
YAY!! It was a big drive from Corryong, in the North East of Victoria.I collected a couple of geo caches along the way to fill in some new LGAs. I have collected the south Australia souviner YAY!! It is going to be a big few days enjoying Adelaide and the surrounding areas. All the events are pencilled into the calendar ?? I'm hoping to geocache inbetween as well.So glad to be here
The Leap Day Mega was a great excuse to come down from Queensland and weve had a busy time exploring Adelaide and surrounds cache by cache. Meeting up with friends old and new, we sometimes cached with them and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Although I have been to Adelaide before, this trip has shown me so many new and interesting places as Ive chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites. Thanks to all COs for placing and maintaining these caches for everyone to enjoy.Answers have been sent to CO on our behalf by Davinells

# 9178 Day 4 of the Leap Day Mega trip. An early start today as I headed out west to Mannum, about 1 hrs away. The event was at 8am so I was up early. It was a very warm night after yesterday's 37C and it was pretty warm today too. Mannum is still recovering after recent flooding. Following that, I grabbed a bite to eat at the bakery and headed off to Mannum falls, which were not. By now it was roasting hot out there. The only stop on the trip home was at Hahndorf which was a bit of a theme park and quite busy for a Wednesday arvo. Met a bunch of Queensland cachers and joined them for a few finds. Tomorrow is the main event, but tonight is an event in the city.Answers sent to CO. Thanks LB for the Earthcache
Another day in Adelaide and SQUIRM are on the road again this time with a hitchhiker from QueenslandAn early start saw us soon stopping to wait for the little man from the village who got Staceys Mum back on the road again after her second flat tyre in two days Weve been too hard on Staceys MumFirst stop was Mannum to attend The Best Breakfast Event in the world ever then more targeted caching challenges, D/Ts, high faves and anything else we stepped over along the way there might even have been a new LGA in thereAnswer submitted by Davinells as official scribe and keeper of all the recordsThanks LB
An interesting bit of geology here. With two events scheduled over two days, one a tailem bend and another at Mannum the following day I decided to make an overnight trip out of it. Just over 100 finds for the two days cleaning up the map as I went. Thanks for the cache
Answers sent to CO todayI was in the area with some geobuddies late last year doing the 'on your bike' series and we visited Mannum while out and about. I had forgotten to log this cache and came across my notes while checking caches to pick up on my way to the Adelaide Mega.
Veni. Vidi. Vici. Scripsi. Back in Mannum for a few days, so it was time to catch up on some caches that I missed last time we were here.Had to wander to the hardware store for some supplies, so decided to wander a bit further, and get the information for this earthcache. Looked, searched, took some photos for the record, and developed some theories and answers.Submitted the answers a couple of days ago, so decided that it was time to log the find.Great earthcache, and got me looking at something that I have driven past many times but never looked at the details.Gratias pro earthcache LiB
29/10/2023 10:56:00 AMAfter 4 days spent chasing on your bike caches I slipped into meander mode and enjoyed the slow lane for a while, heading down to Mannum I took a look at this interesting wall and made some observations which the CO thought made sense. Thanks LiB for showing me this piece of the past.Find recorded using GCDroid and logged using GSAK
Find # 10509Stopped off in Mannum for some supplies as we were caching around in the general area for a few days doing the On Your Bike series among others. Beautiful part of the world. Thanks so much for the many caches LB and of course for giving me a reason and incentive to get out here, and to experience this part of the world in a different light
Well so far from the sea now so that makes this earth cache even more interesting! Headed out west on a multi mission with a group of geobuddies to explore the country at lower altitudes. TFTC info and the draw card incentive to visit!
Interesting rock wall along this stretch of the road. I was lucky enough to spend a night in a B&B here and was amazed at the amount of repair/restoration work being done. Tftc LiB
What a fascinating little outcrop on the edge of a carpark.
Day 18 of our loop through Vic and SA then home.
Our last day together on this trip, we headed even further afield from Loxton. fitzy_1965, albida33 & I signed as MAF or FAM to save room.
Mannum was our target, along with two OTD series, some oldies and some nice D/T’s.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

Southern Autumn adventure Day 19. Post Mega South East SA trip Day 13. For our last day of caching together, we had to look quite a far way off from Loxton. we ended up heading all the way to Mannum to visit two OTD series. Along the way there were several other aches to be found and importantly an Canberra Lab cache as well. Caching was with Fitzy_195, MinnieK and albida33 and logs were signed as F.A.M. or similar, It turned into quite a long late drive home but we have had a great few weeks caching during and after the Rutherglen event and I cannot wait to do it all again on even more South Australian cache series
This old mine right in the middle of the riverside town was a little unexpected. We had a good look and put together some answers that have been sent in by MinnieK for the team.

Rutherglen Mega and South Australia Trip Day 18. Today we headed out early to get two of the On This Day series (November and March) plus the usual cherry-picking around Mannum and Palmer, before finishing up some Trads around Loxton that we have driven past far too many times ! We got to do the ferry ride at Swan Reach twice again which we always enjoy This was the next find of the day, and a very interesting location for an Earthcache. We gathered the required info and minniek has sent it to the CO.
Thanks LiB !!

Found this earthcache on our visit to Mannum from the Proud Mary vessel. Lots of shops still closed or relocated from the flooding, and temporary levee is just being removed near the dock area. Sending Answere by Geocaching messenger. Darwould and Plus Elle from Calgary, Canada.
An afternoon visit to Mannum to check out the river while supporting the pub. Dropped past afterwards to check out this site. An interesting location and geography. Answers sent to CO. Cheers for the lesson.

I was deployed here from the ACT SES to assist in flood damage mitigation at Mannum. We were stationed near the Rowing Club by the river where our High Capacity Pump was set up. It was a 300 metre walk up to the nearest toilet block. Accordingly I had a number of walks up here. One day looking at my GPS I noticed there was an earth cache here. On one trip up I spent some time more carefully examining the formation and came up with some answers. Pretty cool to discover the significance of something I had just walked by every day.

Today is public holiday. Weather is fine. I and J plus the little one left home for 10 hours, to visit the Big Rocking Horse, Mannum Waterfall, some ferries in River Murray, and some caches on the way. We tried different types of caches including traditional cache, multi-cache, mystery cache, letterbox hybrid, Earthcache, and adventure lab cache.

I teamed up with FeatherWaite, TeamAstro and Team Waldron to attempt the 'Around the World in 81 Caches' series.
We had a great day for it with sunny, mild spring weather and the roads and tracks all dry. I wouldn’t much fancy doing it in the rain. Four sets of eyes helped and we were able to find the caches without too much trouble. It also helped that we were in no rush, and there was plenty of time for a bit of fun and chatting along the way. We had a good run and found all the caches with no DNFs.
After completing the series, FeatherWaite and I headed back to Adelaide via Bakara, Claypans, Walkers Flat and Mannum, finding a few targeted Traditional, Multi, Letterbox, Earthcache, Mystery and Lab caches along the way including this one.
All in all it was a good day out.
I am constantly amazed at the number and variety of geological features around the place that have been featured in earthcaches. I examined the rock face here to collect the required information, and managed to find the coral for the optional question. Answers were subsequently sent off and OK to log received.

Today, jesswrigley and I headed to Mannum, Mypolonga and Monarto. Our first stop was Mannum Waterfalls, and we had a good walk around in the nice weather, before heading to Mannum for lunch and completing the new Adventure Lab there. Then, we made a quick stop in Mypolonga checking out a few of the geocaches, and it was then onward to "Woop Woop" Creek at Monarto for the event and new *Underrated Aussie Series*. A few hours of nice walking around and admiring the creek/valley right before the rain hit in the evening.
I made a return visit here to bring jesswrigley, as I really enjoyed the limestone and location. After running into the CO just earlier, I was determined to find this illusive photo, and had a few photos to match. However even with those and both of us searching around, no fossil was found. Dang, it must be illusive! Thanks LíB once again!

Today with COVID-19 requirements still in effect, and with jesswrigley wanting a rest day at home, I decided to head up to the hills to do a couple of OTD series that hadn't been found for some time. These were the March OTD series, followed by the November OTD series, just around Mannum.
In addition, I stopped off at various locations to run along the trails and in reservations/parks to do some fitness. I enjoyed the journey out and about, and made stops in Charleston, around Tungkillo, Palmer, and Mannum. Mannum was a great little spot next to the river, and keen to return in the future to explore around here further.
It was a cloudy, coolish day that helped provide solo motivation at jumping in/out of the car so frequently.
This was a really enjoyable stop to have made and studied/admired the limestone Mannum Formation. I find it interesting that one of the benefits of historical quarries, is the direct exposure of the geology, that lies inside. I never found the coral, although I definitely tried in looking for it. Since Question 3 is optional, perhaps a description of where that coral is would be more appropriate (and have that question removed), so as to learn and study this detail further? Otherwise perhaps the question can be based off what we see of the coral, rather than the find part, that appears to be difficult. Thanks LíB for the EarthCache placement and organisation here.

Being my day off...I wanted to go grab a few caches...a call to clare007 and we headed out...
Got to Mannum via Callington & Murray Bridge...
Crossed the ferry...it has been a while since I have been to Mannum...
It is such a beautiful place...
Arrived at the geological spot...checked out the fossils and colours...
Wrote the answers in my notebook...
Caught up with LiB & verbalised the answers therefore obtaining permission to log...
A great earthcache...
Thanks LiB

hevwalker called me for a caching afternoon, as my swimming had been cancelled I was available.
We started off at Callington and eventually made our way to Mannum.
I have fond memories of Mannum, spending some of my childhood here & staying at the caravan park.
I've spent more times driving through here, but never stopping close enough to do this one.
So I was delighted when hevwalker suggested we do this one.
It is quite amazing what you don't see until you do a cool Earthcache & dig deeper.
Answers have been submitted via hevwalker, thanks for bringing us here Lib

We formed some answers to this earthcache, formed by the information from the description and the formation. We formally sent our answers to the very informal CO, who formally replied with a chat and confirmation we could log.
Last visit to this area had a different cache which we didn't find due to the business of the day so this is a great spot to have an earth cache and we had the time to stop and admire.
Its been several years since we have been to Mannum so we noticed a few changes, mainly a new petrol station and shopping area just out of town and many more "shacks" along the river. Gee some of these shacks would leave our family home for dead, there is definitely some very impressive holiday places along the river front now, location, location.
Thanks LiB for the cache and the information

Today is the second day of our roadtrip from the Southern Highlands of NSW to Gawler in SA and back, to represent NSW at the Inline Hockey National Championships. Last year on the same trip I had GeoDaughter in tow - this time GeoSon was along for the ride. Today we drove from Mildura to Tanunda via some high-FP caches and some Earthcaches, as well as other ones that caught our eyes. I do like a good urban Earthcache and this was a great example. I don't think we ever spotted the coral but certainly saw a lot of shells. Answers sent to CO, and an FP from me. TFTEC!
Ok wow! Thank you so much for showing us this place! That coral was he to spot and we are almost sure that’s what we found.
Found today on a day trip out from our house sit in Murray Bridge.. Cold and windy here today, but that's no deterrent.
Interesting spot in the middle of town.
Answers sent to CO. Thanks for this cache.

Dropped into Mannum on the way home from a houseboating trip up the river to visit a bakery and also a few unfound caches.
This was very interesting and worth a visit - amazing amount of fossils present - and so close to town. Answers submitted. Thanks for the EarthCache LiB!

Hi there 3LG. We visited this Earthcache on arrival in Mannum from Gawler today. The wall at first appears to be a gravel conglomerate but closer inspection shows it as limestone. Great to see this spot also has a history - as a quarry but is now a part of the town center. Answers have been sent in to the CO. Thanks to 3LG for this cache - our find #6255.
Of course Whitepaws did the homework. Sorry, I am not the geology.
Thanks 3LG for the earthcache

Stayed in Mannum for few days with Lava12.
Truly enjoy caching with her and exploring beautiful small town.
Thanks for bring me here and earthcache.

Out and about in Mannum for the day, had a great time walking around checking out the place, this was the final stop before we made our way home. Some really interesting things in this town which is full of history. Looking forward to our next visit! Message sent with the answers. TFTC 3LG!
On my Canb - Ade - Canb trip. On an extraordinarily hot night, I had dinner at The Pretoria Hotel and then wandered over to have a look at this interesting earthcache. I guess this geology explains the dearth of vegetation (there is little to no grass) in front yards. Answers sent to CO. TFTC
Erin1405 and I did a round trip from Alice Springs down South along the coast and ended up in Sydney. We had a marvellous time on this amazing continent viewing a lot of new and beautiful impressions. Of course we searced and found some caches just like that one. Thanks a lot for hiding and many greetings from Germany.
