Thanks to recent watertabling efforts by road maintenance crews the approach to this cache is too steep and dangerous adjacent to SH10. We will replace it with one further up the side road where cachers do not need to take their lives in their hands.

Well what a great Christmas New Years we have had so far it all started off in Friendly Feilding have Christmas lunch with the family then next day Boxing day off to Danniverke for a weeks holiday together so special first holiday with the Grandson hes only 7 months old, then we didn't know what or where to go next so ended up going to Napier and then across the Napier Taupo road got a cache and a trackable, not easy to stop all the time with a large caravan on the back. We finally got to Taupo and said where to now so we kept going and then we got a text message some plans next week had been transferred to the end of January so we could go away for an extra week. We ended up in Walton Gold course for two nights to finish off the Kiwi and another puzzle series got 46 caches in total some were traditionals as well, got that sorted and then headed off today decided we would do the Route 66 trail and Smilie trail so we ended up in Orewa so we are here for a few nights. We set off this morning and completed the Route 66 series had some lunch about 1.30pm then we decided to get some more traditionals in the area and then slowly head off to get some smilie series caches. once we were back to our accommodation had some tea we decided to go for a walk along the beach front and get a couple of caches. Decided to see how many caches we could get in whangarei before heading north. Also looking for our minutes for a minute challenge back in Wanganui, so hoping to achieve that by the end of our holiday too. A fantastic day for geocaching today just hoping that it doesnt get too hot. Arrived at gz today and was a quick find here today, thanks for the cache. signed the log and replaced exactly where we found it. thanks again number 24 of the day

The Seagnoid takes us to Rarawa Beach for a quick snag and tag here. Cheers

Its Monday - day Three - Cape Reinga. We parked Toby at Spirits Bay DOC camp last night before making camp at Tapotupotu DOC site. Spent the morning walking Pandora, then exploring Te Hapua and surroundings with Toby. A 5.5 hour walk of Pandora to snag Toby and we are off exploring again.

Its another epic 4 week geocaching adventure with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby to Northland. What an amazing place to explore. Lots of walks, gravel roads and sand. Lots of amazing trees, beaches and interesting POIs. Lots of kilometers traveled by vehicle and foot. Vehicle breakdowns, making new friends and catching up with old friends and family. Snagged a couple of FTF's, lots of lonely caches and the odd event along the way. Lots of cache maintenance and replaced caches on this trip. But what an incredible adventure!!. Thanks to all the CO's who have made this trip so memorable..

17-Dec-18
After walking from Tapotupotu to Spirit Bay Taybeedragon and I still have half a day to go exploring. So after checking out Te Hapua and paddling out to Treasure Island we continued south. Starting to run out of day so maybe Rarawa Beach before we head back to Tapotupotu.

Day three of an awesome, tiring, long, four week holiday geocaching with Taybeedragon in the upper north. Spent the day mucking about Cape Reinga. The whole trip comprised of hours of walking on sand, sliding down sand dunes, hundreds of kilometres of unsealed roads, car breakdowns, paddling out to islands, dolphins, goats, events, FTFs, weird boulders. You name it, we saw it. Lots of bisons, lots of cache maintenance, lots of sunscreen. A month is enough. I am glad to be back home. Except that now I have to write up my trip. We averaged just 20 caches per day, but that is still a lot of logging!

Northland Day 2: Drove up from Hokianga to Cape Reinga and back down to Doubtless Bay to stay the night. Today’s drive is a really, really long one, and I am glad for these caches that break the monotony of the drive. Many park and grabs today due to the lack of time, would have really liked to do some of the better ones. That being said, many nice ECs along the way and a lot of amazing views and sights seen today.

The following is the specific log for each cache:
Another quick stop here. Terrain was a tad challenging but nothing a determined geocacher cannot handle. All good here, nice hide, TFTC!

Today we had a trip from Kaitaia to Cape Reinga and back, thereby visiting many locations especially near the road and looking for caches, too. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches. The weather was good all day long with only partly some clouds.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had other things to do than observing harmless geocachers.

Thanks to 'nalawod' for showing us this location and for the fun we had at 'Ra Ra Rarawa (Far North)'. The search we had here today didn't take too much time.

Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

I took the Monday off to create a nice long weekend for myself, and managed to grab some cheap seats to travel up to Auckland. Then it was just a matter of talking tunfisk into travelling up north for a few days, and we were off! We decided to take a drive up to Cape Reinga for the day and find some caches along the way. We made this one much harder for ourselves than need be!! TFTC!!

We are spending a few days in Kaitaia, and today we are on our way up to Cape Reigna, with stops on 90 mile beach, sledding down the sand dunes and other stops that caught our eye. We found a few caches along the way, either to break up the drive, or because they were near where we stopped. It was a great day, and I even made it back with out getting too sunburned. Catzilla said the name of the cache reminded her of a Lady Gaga song. TFTC

Kia Ora! VikingNav and I are traveling through New Zealand from Minnesota, USA for 7 weeks. We flew into Auckland about 5 days ago and headed north to explore Northland, and Far North first. I have fallen in love with New Zealand already! Today was the day we chose to drive up from Kaitaia to Nine Mile Beach, Cape Reinga, the Great Dunes at Te Paki, and surrounding areas. This one was on our target list of caches we wanted to find. Thanks for making our day that much more fun with your geocache! >^..^

This was the day of our New Zealand vacation where we finally made the way up to the most northern point. It took a while to drive. Good thing is that we had great weather and the sun was shining all the way.
Sorry for not having a lot of individual logs but it was just too much for it. We try to add a note to all of them.

23-Apr-17
This was a weekend that had been in the planning for a little while and in the company of HKCB we headed up after work. the object for the weekend was to locate as many of the west coast caches as possible along with a couple of other mini missions including the northern most caches, and earth caches. All was going well until we hit a rock and punctured/ripped a tyre which in turn resulted in the weeknd being brough to a premature end and heading home effectively 24 hours early. We did however manage to collect approx 50 caches and a number of these had not been located for some considerable time.

I would like to thank all the cache owners for their work to keep many of these remote caches still in place.

This was the twelvth cache of the trip and a nice quick find before continuing north.
Thanks for the cache, Thanks for the placement

22-Apr-17
On a bit of a weekend mission with Cats&Dragons, with the goal to find the 2 most Northerly caches in NZ and while we were up there to find as many as we can along the West side of Northland. Unfortunately a bit of car trouble cut the weekend mission short and we had to pull the pin and head home about 10pm Saturday night. Still we had a lot of fun and saw some pretty awesome parts of our country, so a big thanks must be given to all the CO's who's caches we found. All up we located just shy of 50 caches and signed the logs either HKCB/C&D or HKCD.

Took a bit of a hunt to dig this one out. C&D managed to find this one while my focus was one somewhere else entirely. Thanks for the hide.

15-Apr-17
8.15pm - DAY 2 of 3. Today was our second real day of caching on our north trip, starting in Kaitaia and heading to the Cape.
With lots of stops, detours and back on only 1 road that we had missed caches from the previous night.
This part of the North Island is amazing with great views, history and lots of hidden bays and Campers parked in all sorts of places.
The roads were good but couldn't get over the number of one lane bridges, twists and turns. Told the guys that it would be great to bring Mrs Fap up this way but she hates driving on these road types.
Amazed at the number of tourist at the Cape, cameras posed waiting for the sunset.
Returned to Kaitaia for night stopover. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap) and Mr Davidson (of Davidson clan). Signed most finds as BGH.

Visiting Northland for Easter... The plan for today was to cache our way to Cape Reinga. If conditions were favourable, then we wanted to return along Ninety Mile Beach... We really hope to make a big dent into several challenges we are working on...

We found a container on site, so signed the log. Interesting that there have been a few DNFs on this one previously. TFTC.

15-Apr-17
Up North for the Easter long weekend with Squirrel nutcase and Gap from FapandGap.
Today's mission was Cape Reinga and as many caches we could get on way up and back.
After completing the caches at Cape Reinga we started our journey back to Kaitaia this cache was found in the dark so not much view just the cache then back in the car to the next one approach this one. Log signed BGH

4.30pm. Parked on the quiet side road. Located cache and brought it over to the car to write up the log. Suddenly three other cars came along the side road - pretty busy for the Far North.
Had to wait for the rush hour to diminish but needed the time as found cache full of water with a cracked lid. Replaced with smaller screw top container we had in the car. As this was much smaller we needed to add a new log sheet and will return original larger logbook to owner.
Hope our actions are considered appropriate. Felt we had been useful.

One of the must do items on our to do list was a trip to Cape Reinga as neither of us had been to this part of Northland. Despite a long day traveling yesterday, we decided to go there today as the weather forecast for the next few days wasn't looking so flash.
I turned into the side road, then saw there was no parking so dropped StreetWalker off and carried on to find somewhere to turn around. By the time I had returned, SW had found the cache. In that short space of time, 2 vehicles had travelled down the road! TFTC.
