I have a lot to do before getting on the plane in a couple of days. First is to head into town to get some photo copying done and buy some showering jandals. On the way in I decided to head for this cache as a) I already knew where it is and b) today is a size Other dot-day.
So I grabbed the bus and accidentally got off one stop early, which turned out to be great as I talked to another bloke who got off who works at the rail museum. He was able to clarify a question about the rail line here for one of my new rail series of caches. From there I walked to the start of Blue Mountain road and put my thumb out. Was surprised to get a lift almost immediately. Got to the top, found the cache, but got no lift back down so walked it all. Picked up the bus to Upper Hutt, did the rest of my chores and was home by Lunch.

Tomorrow after work I will start my journey north to attend the Auckland MEGA, which will be my 5,000th cache if I can engineer my caching before Saturday to make it so. Knowing that the weather forecast for tomorrow is less than favourable, I really wanted to find some caches tonight to release some of the pressure, so the Seagnoid and I headed out to Whitemans Valley to see what we could find.
I wasn't even aware of this cache, but the Seagnoid had it programmed into his GPSr. Ahh, it's archived - that explains why I can't see it on my map. Shall we stop and look for it? Yeah, why not. I won't spoil the location, but I spotted this one after a few minutes of searching. Not an immediately obvious place to hide a cache, but it works well.
Nothing wrong with the log, which soon had my name upon it (tS intends to save it for another day) and then I placed it back where I found it.
Thanks for placing this cache.

I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
I think you mean to archive since "permanently disabling" is not a thing. Surprising a reviewer hasn't picked up this.
Was looking for that devious hide. (according to a previous log) when my partner came along and had cache in hand straightaway! Thanks for placing the cache
# 1339 Some one set me the challenge of trying to find that really difficult cache up by the bog. So after spending a lot of time there aimlessly searching in what was quickly becoming failing light I gave up and of course I still needed a cache for today. We had visited this one recently on a blue berry picking trip and i saw jimmynz deftly retrieve and sign it. As i had already found one that day I left it for today. Signed today below the rest of the fam after knowing exactly where to look. Cheers Nic-jay for the cache.
Out this way to do some blueberry picking with DangerSAM and Gr33nslime. After DangerSAM spent most of the time eating his picking as opposed to putting them in mums bucket we headed back down to the valley floor via this route and on the hunt for a geocache. I had been up this way mean times, often running up from Silverstream and new what the GZ was, just needed to find the actual cache. Gr33nslime warned me that it might be a little tricky, but hey that’s my middle name. Any who after about two seconds looking around I spotted the cache and then had to get an item to retrieve it. Once signed it was a hop skip and jump back into the car and off home we went. Thanks for the cache and getting rid of one more dot day.

I've not always had that much luck with the Nic-jay hides. Not sure why.
Pulled up here after the windy trip to the top. Did a bot of the once over, it could only be somewhere there I thought to myself.
After a bit of looking, puzzling, reading prior logs, and generally taking in the scene zboy spotted what we'd come for.
Cache find was sort of straightforward (i"m just pleased to have nailed another N-j hide!). All in order. Log signed. Cache re-hidden safely, just as found.
TFTC I visited here with team cacher zboy wonder on a wonderful Waitangi Day holiday geocaching.
The Turtle strikes again!

Did a first unsuccessful sweep, read some logs, then found it pretty quickly, TFTC
I remember stopping here on a trip around Whiteman's Valley about 18 months ago and not finding anything. For some reason I didn't log a DNF. Passing here again on the way to tidy up a DNF further up the road I stopped for another look. The twelve second log guided my search, with success in about thirty.

Found while on a 'maintenance run' in Blue Mountains & Whiteman's Valley.
As suggested in the description, it DID take a little longer ... but methodical approach, and standing back and perusing all remaining possibilities won out in the end.
Cache in great condition - all good here.

No luck for me here tonight, despite the recent finds and descriptions of ease! Not sure if it was me or the cache missing it's mojo
Signed as RE as I'm caching with Ethnz this weekend.
This was my favourite find for the day if only because of how fast it was. I walked around the car and spotted it straight away. I think that was more good luck than skill but I'm still going to take it!

Cache # 3,923 - Came by here before work. Was a little concerned approaching GZ as there were several utility trucks parked up, and some worked were put out signs in full view of destination. But they moved on quickly, and there was no muggle interference for my search. Took about 10 minutes, and some references to previous logs helped to find this nicely hidden cache. TNLNSL. TFTC!

Spent about 20 min looking all around the area and gave up. At the last second before heading back to the car I decided to try a little higher and spotted the sneaky hide.
Another location I was familiar with, but the cache wasn't in the same place. I did have a bit of cover as a muggle had parked a ute right in front. A little hunting and soon I spotted the little blighter! Was filling in the cache and replacing when the muggle turned up. I think he was more concerned about if he was inconveniencing me, than being suspicious of someone hanging around, but no issues. TFTC
We didn't need more information it was in the second place we looked (by share luck this could easily be overlooked ,thanks for the placement and the smiley
#4016. I was thinking of going over to the Wairarapa this afternoon but with rain in the morning and snow on the hills, it put me off. Anyway the weather improved as the day progressed although it was bitterly cold. Decided to visit a few Pine Haven caches instead. I have been here before and the result was not pretty. Decided to give it another crack. This time I used my eyes to scan the possible options instead of the usual blind flailing I am famous for. Success! The cache was felt in the second place checked. Joy of joys. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Rapt to finally convert this sad face to a smiley. Thanks for the cache.
Too tricky for me. Although the previous log suggests a possibility of being missing.
No luck here. A previous finder with me couldn't locate it either. Dislodged again?
On trip around Whiteman's Valley, but only the cellphone so missed a few with no reception.
But no sign of any likely cache.

The only information I need tis how to find this tricky wee container. Second look for the cache and still no joy. Scoured all the places I thought you could hide a cache. No doubt the next person will see it instantly.
A nice quick find. Being a Sunday morning the Tour de France pretenders were about and it hard to hear them coming. Managed to grab between riders. TFTC
We found after a good few minutes searching. A very tricky hide! TFTC!!! (^‿^)

Out With BigCheeseNZ. Spotted by Paula after a good few minutes searching, I came away with a nice bruise on top of the head which brought tears to the eyes (from corner of roof).

The wife spotted this one. It is certainly much harder than the last cache that was here. At least you have some excuse for standing around.
Another great find with Just-Lookin.
Fairly quickly located and signed.
Enjoyed the drive around

Find # 2537. A third day of cycle caching from Petone to Maymorn and back using the Masterton train to get to Maymorn. Cycled back via Whiteman's Valley and the Hutt River Trail - 50km of cycling. Only a 100m rise in elevation from Maymorn to the top of Blue Mountains Road but a 200m descent to Silverstream - the train did all the work! Was concerned this may take a while to find but by a fluke of standing in just the right place, managed to see it tucked away. Nice hide. SL TFTC
A tricky little cache tucked away with the local information just as well I had a tool so I could extract the tiny log. Replaced as found. TFTC
I needed a cache to end the year on and luckily I had saves this local one so I could pop out and nab one when I really needed it. A quick find and Noone around I can hear some partying going on on the hill above me but quiet here. Well goodbye to 2015 and bring on 2016.
Searched GZ thoroughly before finding cache on the ground beside the structure. Rehid in a nook directly above where it lay and made sure it was wedged securely. Log dry and secure. TFTC TNLNSL
I certainly do! Tried for this one tonight on the way to the social, but it eluded me.
Too tricky for me. Spent a good ten minutes pouring over the obvious feature and adjacent poles and trees but not even a whiff of a cache. Need a new set of eyes. Surprisingly busy road up here. At least 2-3 cars every minute going past today. What's going on up the valley? Another day.
I managed to quickly find this cache this evening. I guess I have to be grateful for wb1116's efforts in finding it yesterday and putting it back where it should have been.
#1277 This took way too long to find. I checked the obvious spots as well as a few unlikely spots. After about 15 mins I found it with cap off lying on the ground.
Paperwork completed, then the dilemma of where to place this wee guy. A quick call to a previous finder confirmed that the first place a checked was the spot I should place this one.
It is lightweight and it would seem the wind gets in to this spot even with the cover provided. Hard to know how to better protect this one.
Thanks for my smilie today

Found while on a cycle ride as I made my way up to a family gathering in Whitemans Valley, TFTC Nic-jay, #8258
I had some work commitments in Upper Hutt today. I decided to take the “long way home” and look for the new caches published the other day along the way. It wasn’t hidden quite how I was expecting , but a reasonably quick find. TFTC
#7342. Joint {FTF} with agcnz and Yeetrees @ 14:35 and first day find. A nice drive to Blue Mountains Road this afternoon. Fortunately, GZ was all quiet at this time. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Joint FTF at 14:35 with huhugrub and Yeetrees. We decided at short notice to team up this afternoon and come for an attempt on these new caches. I remembered this one as being a waypoint for the predecessor multi-cache here, but the hide was slighly different (and much better) for this one. Found it within a couple of minutes - signed log, TFTC
