A mini adventure finding the substation entrance and making my way to the sculpture. I dont often find myself amidst a giant sculpture which was much larger in reality than how it appears when whizzing by in a car. A mild day but a cold wind in the location. Luckily the GC was quickly in hand. TFTC
As I was making my way up to this, I was thinking this is going to be the ultimate eclipse tin in a guardrail, but I was wrong, it was not an eclipse tin, but still the king guardrail hide.
Nice hike up the hill. Dont get on the toll road. Also parked by the substation. From USA, beautiful country.
A great hide. Found it on my way to Papamoa. I didn't have a pen, so I took a photo of the log. Thanks ️
TFTC great spot, last time I was here struggled to get across to it. Hot morning and very busy road
A little trek in jandals, we got there. Impressive use of roadside barriers, def an appropriate place for a cache! Tftc!
Using Google maps to navigate I soon found a good way to reach the GZ. Had to laugh, certainly no shortage of potential hiding spots for that seemingly popular urban hide, thanks for bringing me here, cheers
Wow! What a cool place for a cache!
Didn't realise just how big the structure is

Wow alot more beautiful up close than from a distance! Thanks for the excuse to come up here!
WOW an amazing view and feel pretty hidden away, despite being right next to a massive highway. Impressive structure and while we had discussed climbing it, realised it wouldn't be possible as we got closer haha. Would be a nice spot for a picnic up here. Thanks for placement, really enjoyed the stroll.
Found 03/03/21 with kimbathelion. Went round and round the round abouts a couple of times before parking at substation.
The hardest part was working out how to get near to the sculpture. Circumnavigated the two roundabouts a few times. Then parked by the substation. Tftc
I spent the day running around Tauranga getting quite a few caches. I used the parking coords at the power substation and took the long hike to GZ. TFTC.
Always wanted to have an explore of this structure so was great to also find the cache! Thanks
Bit tricky to get to this one. Needed to use GPS to save lots of time searching. Glad I made the effort. By
Summer appears to be so have been checking my caches for wellness after winter.Replaced the log but otherwise in place, clean & dry.
On my way home from Te Puke late friday/early saturday stopped off for a short stroll to GZ. Driven past it so many times but I never get off the expressway at that point. Easy enough find with my phone light and spot on co-ords.
These barriers are taller than the look when your driving past

We stopped at the old substation and walled across, enjoying a beautiful sunset - the last one of 2018. Speaking of beautiful, the better half of TeamTaylana found the cache and then we enjoyed the view. TFTC
22393 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we were went from Whakatane to Pauanui along the seaside, seeing nice places and visiting caches, along the road. on both sides. Crossing the road is not always safe. We visited the nice town Katikati to see all the drawings on the walls and to walk a part of the Katikati Haku trail with 4 caches.
At arrival we walked through the town to see the shops/streets, and cactch some caches near the motel.
Most caches were found quite quickly. A few took more time. Several were with waterproof paper, but our stamp and pen do not work that good on such paper, where when it was wet paper it logs fantastic.
kennyclan TFTC and the fun it brought us. Theo

We've intended to stop for this one a number of times in passing but could never figure out how to get to it.
As we had a bit of time today, we looked around and decided maybe there wasn't an access road to it, so parked at the only place we could figure plausible - the sub station and walked up.
It's a shame the structure can only be seen in passing as it's pretty cool.
No problems making the find, thanks kennyclan.

SB20 and I had come out to find a couple of caches on Xmas Day when we had limited time and couldn't quite work out the best place to park the car - so we went home without this one. So come Boxing Day, with visitors gone, we returned and walked to the Pa Site structure via the substation driveway. A quick and easy find here with a lovely view down over the motorway towards Papamoa. Tftc.
Have tried a couple of times to get this cache but never could quite figure out where to park. Today after getting a nearby cache we read previous logs and followed previous finders idea by parking at the substation and walking up the hill. Much better than going on the motorway and turning around. Kk was very determined to find it before me and this time she was successful thanks for the cache!!
A chance to get out and about before the festive stupidities start (with the Otawa Track as the main objective for the day as we have been looking at for a long time), but of course a few other caches are always going to get caught into the action.
So prior to parking up we grabbed these two peices of art and then it was onto the agreed location so that the real fun could begin. I must say that collecting these at the time we did meant that there was noone around to see what neferious activities we were up to.
Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

On a trip over the Kaimais to escape the fog/rain & instead enjoy some lovely mid-winter BOP sunshine. Parked on a nearby side street & then walked to this & the other cache. Great artwork/sculptures, thanks for bringing me here. Cache signed & replaced as found, TFTC
Thank goodness it was an easy find because I had to rest and catch my breath after climbing hill to see expansive view

We pass by here almost daily. Thought what better way to celebrate Mothers Day than a small caching adventure. This was #1 of 5 found this afternoon. We love this sculpture and even more awesome is that it is made out of road barriers. What a cool concept. Parked at the substation and walked up the hill. Started out on the wrong side, but soon zoned in on GZ. A nice quick log sign, some admiring of the art work and then back on the road. TFTC!

We have been passed this sculpture more times than we can count but have only today managed to stop to extract the cache. We have always commented how it looks like a rollercoaster!
Nice quick find to start our caching day (might as well do something whilst the concrete dries on our new shed/house). TFTC

Up from the other Bay to have Christmas with family. Had some time spare before a bike ride this afternoon. Parked car at sub station entrance and walked to GZ. Quick easy find. Cheers.
I took the exit 'Te Puke (free route east)' at the roundabout and parked left at the substation as recommended. Easy walk from here, no need to cross any street.
Was a quick find, coin from Lion Fish still in (as I already have one, I didn't took it).
I was surprised part of the structure is made of wood. Cool to be up here

2523 Parked at substation and had easy walk. And find. Interesting what can be done with road barriers. I like it.
We always wanted to have a look around up here ... so thanks for giving us the reason to stop by. Nice placement Kennyclan - well done.
With the dog... We haven't cached together in a very long time. She was excited to be out and about...
I've wanted to get this one for ages. But finding the right approach has been challenging... Where does one park to visit this site? I was given some advice, and followed the instruction. Ground zone was a short climb, and the cache was exactly where the iPhone gps said it was... Finally. TFTC.

Been meaning to grab these close to home caches for ages
Glad to have found it

#572 - Been meaning 2 get this one for a long time. Wasn't sure on the best approach but decided on parking at the power station. Was a quick walk up the hill & a quick find. Nice spot up here TFTC.
Out caching with My.Precious today, signing log as TT2M.P.
Have been wanting to get this cache done since I started caching, as I drive pass it regularly. We sat down to sign the log and M.P said that no one would know we were here, just sitting there, just then a car drove by on the Papamoa exit and the lady passenger waved at us. so much for being invisible.

On a caching adventure with tigatat2 on this sunny Monday holiday. Parked up at the sub-station so a wee walk to get to GZ.
Headed up the hill and I spotted the cache first while Tiga was busy taking pictures.
Too easy. Log retrieved and signed with joint monogram of TT2M.P
I thought we would be less obvious if we sat to complete the log and enjoy the view. Murpheys law ruled again ... a passing car noticed us in the hieghts so we all waved to each other.
Loved the picture view of Mauou through the pallisades.

Just a quick stop on the way home to tauranga from Tarawera Falls, parked by the sub station and a quick scamper up the hill. THTC
We walked over (and under) from the Spinifex. It was good to stretch our legs after a day of in and out of the car for quick finds.
The pa is impressive up close, with the heavy black posts contrasting with the curvaceous silver barrier. A clever use of the materials, referencing man's ancient and modern impact on the area.
Thanks for bringing us up close, I didn't realise it was accessible on foot.

Calling in here after work, we parked at the recommended place (by substation) and walked over to this interesting sculpture. We were both busy taking photos from different angles as the sun was getting lower and had to remind ourselves we were here to find a cache! Quick find, signed the log, a few more photos then returned to the car. Thanks for giving us an excuse for a closeup look kennyclan!! Cache is dry and in good condition.
Parking at sub station was a good choice with 2 year old in tow. Nice hide in an interesting interpretation of a Pa. Thanks for bringing us here
A quick walk from the substation and we had the cache in hand. It is interesting seeing this sculpture up close.

Another trip to Tauranga/Papamoa area with a group of Hamilton cachers. Today we planned to clean out a bit more of the area, just one more we keep saying, but new caches keep coming out all the time. Today our team consisted of HKCB, Iammrwalker, Kyb3r and myself. The logs were either signed with our names or HIK1/1HIK to save room. Today I was designated driver and that came along with a new set of challenges but we survived and didn't make too many wrong turns so all is good. A nice early start, left Hamilton at 4.30am so we could be over in time for a night cache plus plenty of other caches before a few of us had to be home for the Hot Air Balloon Night Glow event.
Have admired this art a few times now whilst driving past. Today we parked at the substation and walked up to admire it. A lot more impressive up close! A lot of hiding spots, but luckily it wasn't up the top! Soon had the cache in hand and we were back to the car.
