The challenge that isn't anymore rural road parking in the wet season may be challenging too.
Today's plan is to spend some time in the Hastings area seeing what we can find. I came prepared with what I needed, took a couple of goes before I got my hands on it. TFTC
Came by a few nights ago with a fair idea of what I was looking for, but nonetheless empty handed so had a bit of a scope out. Quickly found the container, so straight to it today with the necessary tools. Certainly brung more than I needed to, but turned out to be lucky as nothing came up on the first attempt. Went back to the car for another tool to clear out the container, but still nothing on the second try. Found a natural tool nearby which I fully rammed down the container, and a small wet spider nest came out... one more try and finally met Humphrey, thankfully no eight-legged friends with him. Thanks for the effort put into this cache. Cheers
Bought tons of water, busting for my first one of these but did not bring my good eyes for looking. I just couldn't find Humphrey today
Hey how lucky was that - I was carrying the TOTT to deal with a recently placed cache with a similar unfortunate situation as here. Was able to meet and comfort Humphrey. TFTC
Nice cache, wee look to find it, then off to get some supplies to do it!, TFTC.
Headed here after a fantastic lunch at Craggy Range it really was amazing. Nice quick find and sign here nicely done TFTC

This is my fourth geocaching excursion to **beautiful New Zealand**!
Due to Covid [xx(] I had to wait for 3 long years to again return to my beloved [:X] Middle-Earth.
This time its a road trip enduring for 26 days, covering both North- and South-Island.
Today was dedicated to collect some smileys in order to complete two challenges :
1. **'NZ 400 minutes longitude challenge'** (https://coord.info/GC7YQZ8)
2. **'"Don't Leave Home" NZ Counties Challenge'** (https://coord.info/GC9C4M0)
This geo-treasure contributed to the mission and to the finds of today. Cool! [^]
This is a fun cache!
Unfortunately, my water supplies were at zero (poor horse!), so I hope the owners accept a photo-log [:X].
The great idea, the cool installation and the funny listing deserve a fav! [^]
A big thanks to the owners bchefj&p [:X] for hiding and maintaining this cache [^] - and best regards from Germany !

A great little cache hide, located near the end of the Wacky cache series. A nice quick find and said Hey to Humphrey! TFTC

I decided to use the opportunity of having a quiet few days off work over Xmas to drive over to the Hawkes Bay in order to be a cacher in that region for the first time.
There was absolutely no-one around today so I was able to conduct my search in relative ease. It only took a moment of hunting around before I spotted small muster which lead to the cache. Ahhh, it's one of 'those' caches (I hadn't realised before arriving here). Hmmmm, no available stream, but it's just as well that I had some of what I needed in the car, after which it wasn't long before I had the cache in hand.
On opening the container, I found the log to be damp which is often the case with these containers. But after drying it suitably, I was able to sign it before the whole lot was replaced back where I found it.
Thanks for setting this cache up, and I wish you a happy and prosperous 2021
I am always happy to give a FP for a good field puzzle.

didn't read this carefully enough I went armed with the wrong tool which didn't work!
After finding a similar cache recently in Auckland I've started to carry both components required to be successful with these caches. Thus I soon had the cache in hand and added my name to the wet and signable log book, thanks bchefj&p, off to some more of yours next.
Some real poor weather today put us off caching for the majority of the day but there was still time to make a start, and finish, on the TMGT quartet that Napier has to offer. Decided that the rain would put off some muggles, and so it proved as I was not seen or disturbed at any GZ. After that I headed out alone for the bchef weird trail and they were a treat, and I stayed dry - nice.
It's that time of year again when we try and get out there to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and my birthday the next day. This time we matched it up with a trip to Whanganui to see our daughter and the ever changing/developing granddaughter Kaiah. After the weekend with them we headed to Hawkes Bay for a 4 day stay in Havelock North which started off with rain but fined up nicely and finished the week well. A good break from home and plenty done and seen (as usual). Not huge numbers of finds but 22 adventure labs, the 4 TMGTs in Napier, a couple more CANZ caches and a few Virtuals as well as some other treats, T F T C to all COs.

Found the hiding spot and completed the challenge but no cache there, maybe next time
Passed by but realised we were unprepared for this one. Poor horse was desperate for a drink so returned with a good supply. Great cache and a favourite from us.
Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
So much rain recently but the water supply remains dry. Used all of our bike rations up! Best survive the rest of the day! +1FP
Have been planning these caches for a few weeks in conjunction with HKCB for a mad dash and effectively a 24 hour run (so that we could spend time with our respective families) for the rest of the ensuing weekend. Signed most/all caches as HKCD or some such other that we could fit in
Leaving Hamilton at 7pm Friday and getting home midnight on Saturday so that at least 6hours quality sleep was acheived, sleeping in the car is always a bonus (2 hours) and the remainder of the time caching around part of the country we hadn't previousley done a whole lot, but have left plenty for the next trip across the hill.
Starting a new day with only a drizzle outside and an early morning bike ride to boot.
This was the fifty ninthof the100+ that we acheived in that time we were over here.
Thanks to all the CO's for the effort and giving some great caches, sorry about the repetitive logs but then 100 is a few to cover off.
Continuing on around the countryside collecting caches as we go
Thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

Loved this one, favourite point from us. Humphrey was very thirsty today and we did notice his medical issue....
We had been talking about cache bash in Napier for a while, and when Cats&Dragons mentioned a trip down here this weekend I couldn't say no. The plan was to head down Friday night (leaving Hamilton about 7pm) and then cache til we can then grab a few hours sleep and then cache through til late afternoon and then head home. The plan worked well, with about 110 caches found over the 24 hour caching period.
It was the first time we had visited Napier to do a caching mission, and we were both impressed with the genius hides (some we hadn't seen before, I'll give a special mention to those ones). A big thanks to all the CO's whose caches we found, for placing and maintaining them. A great trip and looking forward to a revisit.
This was a memorable find! We have found a few of these types of hide before so nothing new. Set about retriving the log when we were waiting the it to pop out, out came a massive cockroach instead. Had a bit of a laugh and then the cache followed a few seconds later. First time that's happened.

Quick stop off here on the way home from our trip. Horse was thirsty and not enough water on our 1st trip so back to the car. Fave point for us. TFTC.
Sadly a DNF for this one. No clues at all and it could be in quite a wide search area. With such little to go on, I had to give up in the end.
12.45pm - Log Damp
This weekend was a caching road trip to the Hawkes Bay with Mr Gap, something we have not done together in a long while.
Weather forecast was good so we set off late Friday afternoon arriving in the Hawkes Bay about 7.30pm so settled in to our accomodation and planned our weekend of caching.
We needed a couple of caches today for a personal challenge we are doing which we were able to collect.
Saturday started off very slowly with some caches taking longer to find than others but once we started doing the trails in the area caches came fairly quickly.
Had some interesting chats with people on the way, wondering what we were up to.
A few of the caches on the trail were quite damp but still writeable.
Sunday was homeward bound so made caches we picked up were mostly drive bys.
Great weekend with 52 caches collected for the weekend. SLTFTCaches

With the help of Miss Manicure, who didn’t sacrifice any new nails, we were able to retrieve the cache. TFTC
Needed miss manicure to assist with this one. Great being out and about caching with Ethness. TFTC
Loved it. Were a bit high and dry but did it in the end.

Having spent the morning in Havelock North, visited Te Mata peak I headed to Birdwoods Gallery for some lunch. While there I noticed the wacky series and was a good walk for the afternoon. Having finished that I saw this one. I had some of the wet stuff so gave it a go. Doh, just not enough to be able to grab it. Collected it up, went back to the car for a bit more, enough to quench Humphrey’s thirst this time.
Admin completed and dropped it back for the next visitor. Have a FP.

We read the previous log , so we could bring the necessary equipment. Lovely cache . We enjoy to give a favo.

Over from the UK with my wife, parents and daughters to celebrate my 50th birthday. We are staying with friends in Havelock North for Christmas.
After doing mighty micro #8 I moved my car to this location. After a short search I located the cache. Having not read the description before coming I did not have the necessary tool with me. There was however an implement close to GZ which I was just able to reach through the fence. However that item was empty. So I then returned to the location of my previous find where I had noticed a tap. I was pleased to find that the tap was connected so I was able to obtain some water then back to GZ where after using the water I found it poured out very rapidly. So back to the tap again to refill. Once back at GZ this time I covered the hole with my finger and thankfully I had just enough water to retrieve the cache container. Have a favourite for a fun although familiar cache retrieval mechanism

First find of the day and first time encountering this type of cache setup. Miss 10 found this after I walked straight past it. TFTC and the creativity.
We had made up a group of 7 Westies and flown down to Napier for a few days of caching. Came here with merlot58 and aiden29 tended to Humphreys special needs. Fed, watered and vetted.
We had no problems finding Humphrey and thankfully I found his watering hole close by. Lucky we had a paramedic in Aiden29 who could tend to his medical issue while Mrs Jag50 quenched his thirst.
Found Humphrey easily, and we sent Merlot to the watering hole to help quench his thirst. My paramedic training came in handy to deal with the medical issues and Mrs Jag helped water him. Loved this one!
Found as part of our Labour Weekend Geocaching Adventure with Furbies, lillianz, PhantasmNZ & Mrs PhantasmNZ. Log signed as "PFLL17".
Clever little cache - thanks for your creativity! However we did underestimate how thirsty the little fella was and had to resort to dirty creak water for the last bit...

Didn't have enough water in the car so had to resort to very dodgy stream brown water for the last third of the way...! Very cute horses
We got lucky today. Had what was needed. Its become part of the tool bag. Lol. Nicely set up. Mother duck out with her family. So cool. Tftc
The horse is not thirsty anymore hopefully WE had some more information the car for the Te Mata trail lol thanks
This frustrated us a month ago so we came back to solve the mystery. We made Harold happy and in return he revealed the cache. One of our favorite geocaches so far.

Found humpfry but did not want to share my ginger beer. Came back later and after giving humpfry a drink he obliged by presenting the cache to us.
I wandered past Humphrey's paddock to day to see if I could help
Well I had an appropriate bit of gear in me back pack,
but it was as dry as Humphrey [:o]
I looked around for any refill options,
I could see a likely spot just 10 metres away,
swimming with the necessary ingredient to bring Humphrey back to life
I was not risking electrocution to get there !! [:o]
With no other handy resources to hand,
I bid g'day to Humphrey,
and left cacheless
Ptttooohey !!

Day 11 and our last caching day of our Mega Roadtrip. Mum drinks just what Humphrey had ordered, but alot more than we originally thought so Mum had to make a second trip to our car parked across the road to get more for him to drink while I kept Humphrey company before he could swallow. These types are always fun. Thanks for the smilie
Apologies for the belated logging, found OK on 17/09/2016 and remembered as a fun one to do.

We are very impressed with NZ's creative approach to caching. We helped placate the thirst and made the find. TFTC
Humphrey was thirsty today. Gave him a drink and a pat and went on my way. TFTC
A fun cache, fortunately my combined caching and CITOing activities allowed me able to complete this one with the assistance of some material nearby. #TFTC bchefj&p, #8832*
Another awesome micro from you guys. Thanks for the awesome cache and the great series so far. We luckily had the resource we needed and located the cache. TFTC!
Wasn't prepared for this one, however we went back to our previous find to gather some resource, very cool find tftc
We called by to say hello to Humphrey - didn't take long to figure where he was, however we had totally underestimated just how thirsty he was, which resulted in a bit of a mad scramble to keep him happy.
Nicely set up - thanks bchefj&p

Well as I have just saved these not read them I had brought some water to drink later, well this thirsty one took most of it glad hubby was on hand with first aid. Tftc
found today with taniwha girl and kiwiowl taking advantage of the beaut summer day aroha and happy caching fav point from me enjoyed this one
[blue]And, they're off. Taniwha Girl pushing hard on the rails with Morgan Ed who is a bit of a stayer close behind. Kiwiowl tucked in third but has form coming in first last time out. With the going hard on a very sunny afternoon, the top weight (Morgan Ed) dipped out for some water. Taniwha Girl with her finger on the pulse also make the grab while Kiwiowl left to look after the paper work. It's all off to the winners enclose now for a closer examination of the photo. TFTC
Saw this listing while we were in wangaz still.
Told hyjynx that this must be horrance's cousin and that the medical issue must run in the family.
Arrived here after some night caching and we were right and had the required tool for the job, purified from the library cache we got prior to arriving here.
We liked the art Deco, and the cache itself was pretty.
Needless to say cache extracted with out a hitch, and logging ceremony was indeed competed.
Nice construction.
Cheers

My second visit to see Humphrey, this time after a lovely lunch and visit to Birdwoods down the road. Luckily on my previous visit I had established Humphreys problem, and had come well prepared this time. I put my veterinary skills to use and quickly had cache in hand. Then, while I signed the log, the rest of family all had turns at retrieving the cache container. lots of fun. TFTC. Added to the favourites list.
I read the previous logs before trying this one. Sounded like there was a water supply issue so I made sure I took plenty with me to restock the trough. When approaching a nearby farmer was harvesting some feed with her ride on mower so we waited for her to finish before checking on Humphrey. He was happy to see us and was really thirsty. We gave him a hand with his medical problem and then signed the log. Another FP from us. TFTC
Well we are impressed with your efforts with the listing and creating of your caches. Well done TFTC
On a bit of a geocaching trip away with Just-Lookin & Princess Emily.

I called by to visit Humphrey on my way past, luckily I have some experience with horses and quickly diagnosed his problem. Unfortunately he was quiet thirsty as his trough was dry, so will need to return with some liquid refreshments at some stage in the future.
Poor old Humphry was pretty thirsty today! Found some water from a nearby trough and though it was dirty this seemed to quench his thirst for a little while. Such a cool idea and im going to give this one a fav point
Humphery was very thirsty today. Luckily we were prepared because he gulped it all down. The kids particularly enjoyed taking the 'safe way' to and from the cache! We have run out of favourite points at the moment but I owe you one - very cool!
Did this cache a few nights ago. Had to see what nearby resources I could use which ended up with my jumping the fence trying to miss the electric fence (I succeeded thankfully!) trying not to make any noise and disturb the people in the house nearby. So I tiptoed through the field like a tiny wee mouse not making a sound. I gathered the resources I need and started to tiptoe away... Until I suddenly got a fit of the giggles! Trying to stifle my giggle I crept back towards the fence. Passed the resources over to Spook456 and carefully climbed back over the fence, again avoiding the electric part. With resources in hand we managed to retrieve the cache and sign the log.
Thank you for bringing us on our night time adventure. We had a lot of fun retrieving this cache.

Definitely a favourite point from us all. Mr 8 had this solved very quickly as he knew all about it from seeing it elsewhere. Tftc lots of fun for us as our first cache of the school holidays .
[FTF] was lovely to visit Humphrey the Horse. Tried to work out his medical issue but needed water to diagnose then issue was sorted and Humphrey quickly greeted us. Thanks for the fun cache
