Unfortunately they are developing this area and gz is fenced off, so cache is unaccessible
**21,965**Mr Geckoh had forgotten the head torch and was making a hash of locating this cache so Mrs Geckoh was forced to step in with head torch and locate the cache. We had the correct tool to retrieve the log. All good with the log, a nicely concealed cache, well done. TFTC
We were off to take Mr 10 and the dog for a walk. I spotted this cache earlier so was keen to pull in and look. It was handy having the dog with us - just in case. Once we got on the correct level this waa soon spotted. Luckily macwatt always carries a multi tool with him so the cache was accessed. Thanks for the placement.
At an event in the morning at which HeMaLuDy and Stik-A-Crane jointly celebrated 10 years of caching a plan was instigated to return and re-attempt some DNF's in this general area and perhaps locate a few more as well. Mr HeMaLuDy came here with a previous finder. After a short search the container was located at the co-ords. Reading previous logs ensured we had an appropriate tool with us. TFTC
Found it this time, and had the right tool, thanks to fellow cachers!!Thanks for the cache
Found the cache but a TOTT is needed to access the log. Will have to come back at some point!
Found the cache yesterday, but needed the right TOTT to access. Back today, cache accessed and log book signed. Thanks
Last find over a year ago. But it's a reasonably straight forward location. so there's probably a few people not marking their DNFs. The land owners have been chucking a lot of branches & leaves into the area, so if someone has left the cache on the ground, it's prob buried a metre deep by now.
Almost 3 years ago I searched and searched and just couldn't find the cache.
Then, maybe 6. months ago, I came back, found the cache, but didn't have the right tools.
And today I came back with the right tools, but couldn't find the cache. AGAIN!!! AAAAARGH.
Keep calm, Piratenschatzsucher, keep calm. Ah, there you are.
Nice cool hide, glad I finally turned this into a smiley.

A quiet Sunday morning here.
Didn't take too long to locate.
Just needed a tott.

WOOF . . . . . Found it today. Thanks for the clever lil hide. First one like that I've seen.
WOOHOO . . . . . . I am doing a challenge for Christchurch and this cache starts with the letter U . . . . So is on my list this month. Popped in, had to wait for the last 2 workers to leave the carpagk and then we could duck in for the find. Had the right tool today and made the find quickly. Signed and replaced. All is well here. TFTC
Didn't take hubby long to find. Great hide! Definitely need the TOTT for this one.
Finally signed on the fifth time of trying! Took four visits and a message to the CO to even find the cache. Once we did we couldn’t believe we hadn’t seen it before. Didn’t realise that we needed Phillips favourite TOTT hence the fifth visit! Logged signed (wearing gloves due to current alert level). Now to run back home! TFTC - another dot day complete
Came back for another look seeing as this had been found a few times since our last attempt. Still a disgusting place and still couldn’t find the cache. Not sure if we will be back
Had a quiet morning at work for a change so took the opportunity to fill my one a day.
I'm not one to make a habit of reading previous logs so wondered off into the great blue yonder without realizing TOTT was needed. Then again, I had to google "TOTT" because I'm that green. After rummaging through some local debris (ew), I was quick to identify this wasn't it. Not long after, cache was found. However, had to double back and return because of the reason mentioned above.
Secured and signed cache and now back to my normal day. Favourite point because its the first cache I've seen of its kind. TFTC.

Such a lovely autumn day today, clear skies, sun shining and a cold breeze blowing after an 8°C start to the day. On such a day, you just have to get outside and enjoy it, and the best way to enjoy a lovely day like this is to go caching. So we did. Today's targeted area was to be Burswood and the new track linking it to Highbrook.
We had parked up over at Burswood and had a quick look around China Town before heading off to locate the caches along the new track. As we approached this cache, we remembered that it had eluded us some years ago when we got rained out in our search. So not it was time for some redemption. In our previous attempt, we searched one area around GZ and in this attempt, we searched another.
It took a while to spot the cache as Mr. Kiwi looked all over the place for the cache. Up and down the bank, in and under, not to mention up. Then upon looking up under a bush, the cache was finally spotted. Just before doing so, Mrs. Liver Bird had been reading the previous logs and mentioned that a TOTT would be needed. Once spotted, Mr. Kiwi knew exactly which TOTT would be needed.
Ultimately, the log was retrieved and signed and then placed back from whence it came.

Nice and easy TOTT cache, clue was a give away Mr 12 took big brother this time.

I had failed to find this the last time I looked, but that was at night, however quickly spotted today, and used my multi tool to assist. A cool hide, but a bit of a shame this area is a dumping ground, TFTC
Read all the previous logs, but didn't find anything to use a tool on...
No real plans made for today but Auckland was the place to go.
We still have in excess of 2,000 caches in area to find and log so this is going to take some time to complete.
Spur of the moment and teamed up with ABCDF4,Eyespyben & Squirrel Nutcase.
Thought we would hit one area and try to clean it up. Apart from one cache that is disabled, think we got the rest plus a few outer lying caches on way home.
All caches signed as Team HRP (Huntly,Rotorua,Papamoa) This being our home towns.
Thanks to cache owners for their placements. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap), ABCDF4, and eyespyben... All logs were signed Team H (Huntly) R (Rotorua) P (Papamoa).
Our original plan was to complete the Hakarimata Northern Walkway this weekend. However, the weather deteriorated and we chickened out... An alternative was suggested by our Huntly friends - Let's go up to Highbrook (Auckland). It seems that this location is getting a lot of attention at the moment, with a lot of new placements in the area.
It was mid afternoon when we stopped for lunch. The break recharged our batteries and we decided to look at a new suburb to cache attack... Burswood looked good, and it was just over the road from Highbrook... This was our first stop. Uncle Sam's Invisible Dog is filthy and needs flea treatment and de-worming. This was not a nice place to visit, and we were reluctant to touch things. After a lengthy search, we uncovered this great hide. It needed a tool, so we improvised... It's a pity this great hide is hidden in a bit of a dump... TFTC.

Got u early in the morning and said the the team why dont we go and clean up some geo caches in auckalnd so they said lets go so we end up in high brook with my team of squirrel Nut Case/Fap and Gap/and Abcdf4 we sign the log book as H (Huntly) R (Rotorua) P (Papamoa) and tftc for the nice wee hide.
Got it a bit away from GZ on my device. Nice idea for hide but location .... One big rubbish.
A good hunt around in an undesirable location and found nothing!
One day we might find one of uncle Sams caches and it might be in a nice place.

Gradually making our way home after a successful ftf I have FMZ with me and we decided to pull in here, making good use of the fact it was so late at night (well, just after midnight now really). We had a good idea of where the cache was but we both were reluctant to dive under with the very wet trees. Oh well, we have come this far... so FMZ takes his torch, braves the wetness and eventually asks for a TOTT while I can barely see him and do I have one like that? HELL yea, I'm a builder! I'm in my work car, and if I don't have the right tool in my wagon, then humans haven't yet invented it! So I grab appropriate tool and hand it to him and he does the deed of signing us in. Nice one Sam I am. Now for one more cache before heading home.
I had been to this one before, but not had the necessary TOTT. Back this morning, no pets or muggles. Went to work and soon was rewarded with dry log paper, so signed and put back together securely. Shop not open yet, but seems a nice place for Jacko to get treats, I imagine. Woof. TFTC
I'm back in Auckland again, for one of my regular visits. On these occasions, I like to get out to try for a cache or two every day as Pakuranga is still a target-rich environment for me.
So I've had my eye on this cache for a while now, as it was one of the very first I ever tried to find in Auckland shortly after starting out Geocaching.
I couldn't find it then, and have had 1 other attempt at it back in December of last year. On both occasions, my focus was in the wrong place. Now that I've got a lot more experience in cache placements, I reckoned this would be the day I would find it.
I was hoping that being a Sunday would mean fewer Muggles, but the carpark was fairly busy so it took a little while before I could discreetly drop down to where I thought the cache might be. A bit of hunting around later and I spotted what I thought would be the cache. Unfortunately for me, I had neglected to bring along some basic tools (as I was in my gf's car) s I popped back to her place to get the necessary tool, after which I soon had the logsheet which was nice and dry so it was a quick sign of the log and then replaced the whole thing exactly as I had found it.
Thanks for placing this cache.

took a while to locate, but glad we eventually did.
Lucky for us I had the TOTT and was able to fix the cache in position

it came off as i was tooling it, but i managed to reattach it. Should hopefully be ok until the CO get to it.
There were definitely a few challenges involved in nabbing - and signing - this cache. But the two of us were up for those challenges. Thanks
Michaelteacher found this one, and I managed to get the log out and back in without the TOTT required and without breaking any part of the cache. Teamwork! Tftc
After a tough week had been needing to get the hell out of Hamilton for a bit and grab a few numbers. So leaving home at 5am with HKCB we had a route all planned and goals in mind we headed for a few caches in south Auckland along with working our way up towards Botany.
When we left home it was dark, when we arrived home it was dark, so all in all not a bad days caching with 52 caches found along the way. There were lots of laughs and solving of the worlds problems along the way, but the one thing neither of us could grasp was how can people bear to live in such a rabbit warren? still that remains a question for the universe.
Thanks to all the cache owners for putting them out and continuing with the maintenance

I was invited to head out with C&D on another caching trip, this time to Auckland to focus on the hides in the Dannemora and Flast Bush areas, plus a couple of other cache clusters a bit further South. An early start meant we got the most out of the day with over 50 finds, on a wide range of caches, which varied the day nicely. I myself had no specific plan for the day, bar there were a couple of puzzle caches in the area which I had solved and was hoping to finally claim the smilie for.
All in all another great day out caching, with the weather gods on our side (bar being very wet underfoot in a few parks), some great hides and as usual great company. A big thanks to all the CO's for the placements.
Took a fair hunt to locate this one, but we had spent most of that time search a few meters away. Once we expanded the search we found it. I don't know why this one took us this long to find.

Out today with Team Welsh today on an adventure that saw us up hills, down dales, and avoiding dogs along the way. Luckily this dog was imaginary, and once again TW's eagle eyes had the prize in hand quite quickly, though signing the log took a bit longer after a process of clever extraction. TFTC
I'm glad the dog was imaginary here as we had heard enough of them at "Minty Breath". Once the level was sorted the cache was located and the log signed. As others have mentioned the attachment requires attention. TFTC
This one was disappointing. Firstly, my friend and I are both very new at this, and thought 'log' meant a real wooden log. So we were looking under logs the whole time. Luckily, she realised after 30 minutes a 'log' meant what you write down here. We thought it was lost somewhere and gave up.
Took forever to find, with merlot58, Mrs Jag50 and myself going back and forth, up and down searching and following our GPS. Mr Jag50 eventually joined us in our search and not long later called out that he'd found the cache. We needed a couple of tools to extract the log, and replace the cache.
Mrs Jag50, Aiden29 and myself spent quite sometime searching for Uncle Sam's imaginary dog. We were soon joined by Mr Jag50 and once we were on the right level, he soon spied the cache. Thankfully we had some tools that served the purpose and soon had access to the log. It's a little wobbly in it's position so could do with some firmer fixing.
Joined up with Merlot58 and Aiden29 on a quiet public holiday so had the place to ourselves. Had been searching for some time and were struggling to find the cache. Mr Jag50 was sitting in the car waiting so we rang him and he quickly joined us. A short search later and he had the cache. As per previous logs the cache is in need of maintenance as its fixing is weak and it is in danger of falling and getting lost.
Would have been a quicker find if Id have followed my geosense rather than gps. Found cache needed a little tlc so replaced almost where it appeared to have been. Managed to extract log using a bit of ingenuity. cheers V.
Thankful of a nice quick find here after some rather tough ones beforehand. Glad to have the correct TOTT to do the job. TFTC!
Yay good one !
Nicely secluded here so I could do the necessaries !
First time I have used my little Kathmandu Multi Tool

Tricky one, we found it aftet a bit if a hunt, thanks Uncle Sam for another unique cache, added some excitement to our evening walk
Uncle Sam's "Jacko" would have had an awesome time here today nosing through all the rubbish thats been dumped here. Quick find thanks Uncle Sam.
I decided to head out before the thunderstorms to collect some caches now that my sore foot is on the mend. Parked up right next to GZ and with only the odd drop of rain left my windows open. I peered into the abyss, but couldn't "spot" anything. I guess I was "barking up the wrong trees". So, I decided to change my elevation. Hide was quickly "sniffed" out after this change of angel. Thanks to my trusty TOTT I soon had the formalities completed on this one. Time to "howl" for joy and make a move. Cheers for the smiley!
Had been to this cache previously but as Mr NZT had just come back from working overseas at the time he DIDNT have his usual TOTT in the back of the car and as such we had to abandon this last time.
This time Mr NZT was on his way home and had everything at his disposal. Parked and knew exactly what was required for this second visit and soon had the log book in hand. Signed the log and returned to its hidey hole.
This continues our streak to make day 69. There is only one other cacher group now continuing the original 50 day streak that numerous cachers had started (and achieved!) The CO of this cache was one that made it to the big 50!
We will definitely have to aim for 100 now and then might have our arms twisted for a 1/3 of a year (122 days) then maybe 1/2 a year ..... But I ramble.....
Thanks for the cache UncleSamNZ

Oops, seems it takes a woman to find it but a man to do it up! Mr beconaze left me in the lurch on this one deciding he couldn't be bothered coming down to help search so I did my best womanly job at reassembly!! Think the top left is just fine and it is probably just my skills
Needed some deck-stain so popped out at lunch to Bunnings. Being UncleSam's Imaginary Friend (I always say I'm going to come and hang out with him and his real friends, but I never follow through on the promises) I thought I'd visit UncleSam's Imaginary Best Friend, his Imaginary Dog, while in the area (a man's best Imaginary Friend is his Imaginary Dog of course). Looked high and low, left and a bit right. Couldn't see anything and as the hint said I'd see it easily, I gave up because it's OBVIOUSLY an imaginary cache container too.
After a confirmation of the search area from the CO, I went back to see if I could collar this one (get it? collar?!?). The error of my ways is hinted at below. Suffice to say I'd just had a man look. There it was, just over one more. Gladly the TOTT that I had borrowed from my workmate's keychain was the correct one. I normally have one of these with me, but keys and keyrings got all muddled over the holidays. Bottom right seemed perfectly secure but top left seemed a bit loose for some reason. But I don't think it's going to fall off unless it's not reattached properly by a finder. Thanks for the imaginary cache. WOOF!
Nice easy find. Didn't think it was too fragile and quick retrieve with the relevant TOTT on the keychain
I did a quick drive by type park n grab while trying to avoid the rain. All secure, but a little wobbly. Thanks.
Was driving past this morning and suddenly remembered this new hide. Had the right TOTT with me so a nice quick retrieve TFTC
Just as well I had my cordless electric drill with me. You want to make sure that you have the correct tools for this job
Out walking early taking in these new caches. Made GZ & being Boxing Day nobody was around. Nice quick find. TFTC
I was careful. I was careful! That still didn't stop it from coming loose. I was able to sign the log and then put it back in place, but it is still loose. If the next cacher can bring a couple of screws along with their TOOT, maybe they can fix it properly. TFTC.
Found with my Mum, NewlynFam. Have now created my own account so am logging all finds I was present at and helped with.
I love dogs, even imaginary ones, and I especially enjoyed getting to look at them in the shop after we found this cache. {FTF} with Mum and some other cachers..... yay!

Had just got home from a few hours out caching with friends in Waiuku (including the CO, who said not a word about this cache, by the way- not that I would expect him to! ). Left the house with junior NewlynFam, in order to do some last-minute Christmas shopping, when the phone chirps..... Oh, a publication!!! Only about 4km away!!! Well, after a brief discussion with junior NewlynFam, we decided to try for the FTF (and maybe a little bribery was required, as she had been caching with me in the morning and didn't immediately jump at the FTF opportunity. It helped that it was UncleSam's cache, however..... this went a fair way towards convincing her!!! ). Began to head towards GZ, and then I realised I'd better check the fine print correctly..... uh oh, tool required!!!! Cr*p.... I had changed bags that morning, and my tool was at home, still in my OTHER bag- hadn't thought I'd need it for Christmas shopping!!!
Nothing for it but to detour home to grab tool. Quickest I think I'd ever run up my front steps and into my house.... this detour had added precious minutes. On the way to the cache, I was sure we would have been beaten- it was now more than half an hour since publication.
Pulled up and parked, checking out all the other cars as we did so.....hmmmm, no-one seems to be looking for a geocache, had we made it in time after all???? As I was loading my app and figuring out which way to go in order to navigate to GZ, a couple of people came hurrying along- a man, also staring at his phone, and a girl. They quickly headed towards GZ..... uh oh!!!! Junior and I hurried in for the intercept.... and I greeted them with "You guys must be geocaching!" "Yup" came the response. "Great, we're joining you, we are too!" was my reply. So we headed on in after them.
Turned out that this was this caching team's (nice to meet you Davieland!!!) second visit to this cache- as at the first visit they didn't realise they needed a tool. This time they were well prepared, though, and Davieland made short work of the cache while I stood by and pretended to be helpful However, since we were both present when the cache was accessed for the first time, Davieland was kind enough to share the {FTF} with junior NewlynFam and I..... woohoo!!!!
Had a nice chat before going our separate ways. Then, just after we headed into the adjacent shop for a bit of window shopping (part of the deal made with junior about going for the FTF!) I was approached by a man, who said "I know who you are!!!" Eeeekkkk!!!!
Turned out it was the "Mr" part of the Throwers on Tour team, who had come for the FTF attempt but lost his glasses along the way (Nice to meet you Mr Throwers on Tour!). So junior and I headed back out to help, and it was junior's beady eyes who spotted them, retrieved them and handed them back. We then enjoyed a nice chat about caches and cachers we knew . So, thanks to this publication, I got to meet two other cachers whose names I had heard but not yet met, and get and FTF, all in the space of a few minutes.... a very successful afternoon all round!
Right, back to the Christmas shopping!!!
Thanks for the afternoon's adventure, UncleSam!!!

Finally a FTF. Quickly picked up Miss Davieland from her holiday programme and headed to the GZ. After a bit of a search found the cache but did not have the right tool. Back to the car to get it and on our return found NewLynnFamily also searching and we happily shared the FTF. Nice meeting you both. Log duly signed. TFTC.
I was on my way to Ti Rakau Drive anyway when this was published, unfortunately not quick enough for FTF but still found on the day it was published yay I bumped into Throwers on Tour who had just found it as well, nice to meet you! Glad I had my trusty handbag with me which is a bottomless pit of useful tools if I'd had more time I'd have grabbed a bagful of rubbish from the area as there's masses TFTC!
Wow all sorts of things spring to mind when I read the description but I'll keep them to myself .
Saw the publication but knew I would be too late so went home, fed family, tidied up and then headed out. As part of the licence I am working on I need to find caches on the same day as publication so worked well. As a local I knew the general vicinity of GZ and managed to park within 5m. Jumped out with tool in hand and soon spotted the cache. Problem was I had imagined the wrong tool. Back to car to grab correct tool - yes I have one of these in the cars after a frantic FTF hunt previously on this same CO's cache.
Log soon signed and returned to its safe little spot.
By the way if Jacko wants a playdate sometime just tee it up with Babe - she would love it.
Thanks for the cache.
There is the quick and the dead. Refreshing the log as I drove out of Gossamer it was a clean slate. Driving into the car park I see someone furiously texting as she went into the pet shop. I hit the refresh and up pops NewLynFam's log. Oh well I'm here now. Lost the glasses on the way in so log had to be signed by Braille. Hmmmm, where are glasses?? Idea... Into pet shop and found NewLynFam cruising around. Thanks to Miss NewLynFam's keen eyes I have my glasses back and I can see again. Good to meet you.TFTC!!!
By the time I had finished the log on the phone another phone toting suspect arrived. Dragon.Griffon. Good to meet you guys.
