This is a public road, but I can understand Geocachers reluctance to open the closed gate that farmers have barred. StA.

Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.

Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??

Thanks Saint.Anthony (F=3902 H=193) for placing this cache and adding to our game.

Having a great time catching up with old friends at this morning's event we joined forces with micaparamedic and decided to do some less urban caching whilst waiting for this afternoon's event.

We visited many interesting mine sights, we can't imagine what it must have been around here in it's heyday. We were also able to grab a few mysteries we had solved. (Covid lock downs in Melbourne had to be good for something and solving mysteries was one of them.)

We continued on from a sunburnt country as the herd of sheep followed us on to the next cache which again happily was a nice easy find and we added our name to the log again while being watched by some very wooly animals.

We had a shock to see the permanent fence here as we didn't think it was very legal to block off one of these areas.

Thanks again Saint Anthony for the cache.

Find No. 3494. Found with FUF009 at 11.10am

Out of lockdown and off we went for a drive with FUF009 for a day out caching. We went down around the Creswick area to find enough caches to get points for 'Reach the Peak - Vinson' which we achieved to do all in one day.
Checked out the ground first before driving up the easement as we didn't want to get bogged. All seemed good so up we went.
After finding the first one in this area, we then walked up to find this one, which was another quick and easy find.

Continuing along this “road” I reached what appeared to be the end (perhaps a side gate to the farmers property was the way out as there was definately a sign for this road at the other end I saw earlier in the day). I found the cache and signed the log only to find the sheep had made their way and started to corner me in. A few beeps and movement of the car and they scurried away so that I could turn around and go back out the way I came. Thanks for the hide!

Omegaman1971

It was great to be back in the area caching and catching up my buddy Rebel Acts.
So many new caches online around Ballarat and Creswick since the last time I was up this way, and awesome to see some lab caches here as well.

Cheers Saint Anthony for the caches and the fun weekend

I had a few days off so plans were made to catch up with omegaman1971 and do some caching around the Ballarat and Creswick areas, We had a great time finding caches in the area and learning about the history of the region. The weather was a little cold but bearable.

Thanks Saint.Anthony for the cache.

Found by Mary and David at 14:30. Housework - tick, garden - tick, domestic duties - tick. An evening Event in Ballarat, so how to fill in time? Let's go and clean out some more around Creswick. Think we'd have to stay for a week to accomplish that dream. The "gate" was shut, but this time we took a deep breath and opened it. No problems with this one, although we had a flock of sheep nervously watching our every move. Our thanks to Saint.Anthony.

TFTC. We had not previously attempted to retrieve the the two caches along this runway. Last time we were here the gate was closed off and the weather was hot. We know this was a public access road and that the local farmers used it for stock. Today as we passed by the gate was open . Not needing an invitation we took the Suzi up the track to retrieve the two caches along the track. Both easy finds. Thanks Saint.Anthony.

Interesting to read the history of this mine. Who'd have known? Certainly not me. An easy find.

Finally a spare day on the calendar so the geodaughter and myself headed out for the day. ( Mrs Perpetuallylost was pretty happy for us to be out of the house too!)
I teamed up with Claybol to go caching around Creswick some time today. He was keen to go for the other cache along this track as it was easier for him to do today as he didn't have his children with him at this time if he had to walk to it. I read in the other cache notes that you could drive in here so off in my 4wd geomobile we went. He had already found this one but was happy to come along for the ride for me to find it (either that or it was a long walk back to his car if he didn't haha!)
No problems finding the cache once we were here, signed and back on our way to find more caches in town. Thx St. Anthony

This cache has sat like an orphan in here until I walked in today with the added bonus of another nearby cache as enticement.
Lovely day for a stroll and nearing the trees I guessed the hiding spot.
Cache in great order
Thanks Saint.Anthony

As with the previous logs I did feel a little uneasy here but also thought the land could have been an easement. Then I read your note so all was good.

Firstly, apologies for the lateness in logging.
Despite my tardiness, you can be assured I enjoyed each and every cache found and not found.
Apologies if this is a generic log, my memory is good, but not that good.

Thanks St.Anthony

A beautiful day for caching so we went for it! Decided to finish some of the mine series plus others inbetween. Great history lessons! TFTC

BTW ..... did feel like I was trespassing ....that was until I read your note ...thanks for clearing that up.

Hmmm...did seem like private property. Gate was closed one end, but the other end was open. Followed the track which led us to the container. TFTC

While in the area for the youngest team members activities we set off to see if we could add this smile after parking the geowagon and walking in it was a lovely walk, the find was made with Rustydigger, log signed and replaced as found, thanks for checking and re enabling this one, and thanks for the cache and the fun

03-Dec-18
this cache is in such a lovely area, the path & the cypress trees are such a peaceful setting. added another smile

30-Nov-18
Checked with Hepburn Council Road Register and confirmed this 'track' is a road reserve and accessible by the public. Driving along Kingston Road is problematic with the gated ends although should not deter the hardy geocacher from making the long walk to GZ. Good to go!

15-Oct-18
Taking offline until I check the council boundaries along this road.

19-Aug-18
Surprised to find the fence here but a satellite view did show this as being a track at least. There appeared to be no other way in so making sure that everything was returned exactly as we found it, we ventured in, did that which was necessary and left. Again leaving everything as we found it. Thanks for the cache.

19-Aug-18
It was interesting on how we approached this one, with satellite pictures it looked to be where we thought it was but a fenced area made us think for a second. As long as you put things back , the way you found it, so on we pushed. I was able to take a beautiful of the blue sky we were blessed with and I just love this open space. We do live in a glorious country. OHC found this one.

Find # 6931

A day spent zig zagging the back roads north of Ballarat hunting down caches near mines and old railway stations, before ending up at a birthday event.

With a good number of finds made, on the sometimes slick tracks due to the lovely weather the night before, I ended up turning a couple of DNFs into a smiley yet I accumulated 3 more DNFs on the day, but still had a lot of fun and enjoyed the interesting views and history of the countryside.

Had to park up n leg it a couple a hundread meters to GZ, as I had the wheels of the ute spinning on the damp grass n didn't want to dig up the track too much.

Another wonderful day spent in the company of Bushfire. Back again in this area but with much kinder weather than the other day when the temperature only struggled to 4 degrees. We came armed with a formidable list of caches and managed to find most of them with only 1 DNF finishing with a respectable tally. We weren’t sure how to access this one initially, but checking the satellite map showed a possible access TFTC Saint Anthony

Cached up here last Wednesday when the temperature was hovering around four degrees and this morning was not much warmer if you looked at the puddles that we drove through as they were covered in ice.
Again I am caching with au.fait and we had a wonderful day changing lots of caches into smiley faces.
We only stopped for a cuppa and some nibbles during the day and completed all the caches that were on our list in this area.
Dinner and a beer and wine was had at Buninyong on out way back to Geelong at the local on the corner. Great meal but pays to be early.
Creswick is looking a happier place now with all these new smiley faces looking at me.
All caches were signed with au.fait and BF.
It is difficult for us to come to terms of the hardships that these miners faced.
As always very informative cache notes. The only problem we encountered here was how to access but there is only one way in from the Creswick-Lawrence Rd along a good grassed track which is fenced on either side so we believe it is public land and as such had no qualms driving to the cache.
Thanks to Saint.Anthony for placing and maintaining this cache.

Picked up while on a bit of a road trip to Newstead to take some coordinates for a new cache. Thanks for the series

Out and about in the Ballarat area braving the winter elements on a mission to clean up a few unfound caches. There is no better way to spend our day off than finding a Tupperware box or three despite the weather.
As the fog gets thicker we continue our journey around the Creswick Deep Lead Gold Mines.
The track in was still in condition.

Thanks Saint.Anthony for the placement for us and others to enjoy.

26-May-18
Pleased that we were able to drive down this track to GZ . It felt as if we were trespassing, so made a quick find and left the area quickly. Thanks Saint Anthony

Find #1659 for me. Found at 1:10 pm after taking some of my annual leave to find a few more geocaches in the area. Because I was alone today I was concentrating on geocaches that are harder to get to with kids on board.

Having previewed this cache on Google Earth the approach from the west looked most promising but I wasn't sure about the track in. After getting here today I decided to leave the car at the Creswick-Lawrence Road and walk in from there since my car has a very low clearance and I was scared I might start a grass fire if I drove over the rather long grass growing on the ridge of the track. I was also glad of an excuse for another walk since it's good exercise for me and I quite enjoy the extra time to savour up the great locations I visit.

Once at GZ I made a quick find here today and I was very happy to turn this into a smiley as I've found almost all of the others in this area except for this one which was looking quite lonely! Thanks for bringing me here today Saint.Anthony and thanks for the cache and the great series!

#14138. Day 3 touring the area around Creswick with Robmc. Back through Miners Rest to Creswick and a visit to the CBRR series and the CDLGM series and then off to Mt Beckworth to finish the day. Ballarat weather was kind to us today, no gale force winds and plenty of sunshine - very nice.

Now getting into the series proper. So many mullock heaps and remnants. Even the signs look like they have seen better days. Since Rob looked at this series it seems to have grown very recently with the publication of new ones in January.

Found the way in easily enough and was surprised to see so few logs until I realised it is one of the newer ones published just last month. Nice container and found without difficulty.

Thanks Saint.Anthony

The third day in Ballarat and surrounds with BettyBoo3747.
Today we went to Creswick and tackled the CBRR and CDLGM series and any others we passed. We then travelled across to Mt Beckworth for a few challenges.
We had read about the mines north of Creswick, but until you travel around and look at all the locations I don't think we really grasped the size of the operations.
Interesting descriptions of the mines, thanks for than.
Most of the caches were in good condition (BB listed maintenance)
Thanks for an interesting afternoon, Robmc.

How better to acknowledge Valentines Day - than in great company with our friends Suscoe, out enjoying the activity we all love - Geocaching.
The detailed cache notes, for this series, certainly gave us an insight into the mining and social history of the area, as we made our way amongst the remnants of a bygone era. Of course there was the added incentive to find a little treasure at each stop!

Thanks Saint.Anthony for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

Suscoe enjoyed a terrific day out today in the splendid company of Phetlern.
It has been a while since we could enjoy a day out caching and we did enjoy the day out!!!!!!
We left Geelong at a reasonable hour but road works on the Ballarat Road slowed our northward progress somewhat.
The day started out cloudy with a cold southerly and some rain but as the day progressed the cloud broke and we ended the day in sunshine but the wind continued without easing too much,

Thanks to Saint.Anthony for this placement.

Suscoe's grandpa was born on these fields after his parents came out from northern England to work in the mines. Hard work but he talked to us about a few mines and this was one of them.

No idea how to get to this one. Found 2 ends of a road through a paddock (google maps called kingston rd) but not driving rhe 2wd through that without any indication ot was the right road!

20-Jan-18
Well, that was sheer luck that we approached from the right direction to gain access to this area.
At GZ, looking toward Mt Beckworth and associated ranges we could see the distinct smoke haze from yesterday's fires in the SW and at Kal Kal, near Beaufort.

Thought I'd check the local area for new caches, and what do you know? As I checked to see if anyone had logged them, a very familiar name popped up! So after a quick message, I decided I'd join gemmasistema to locate the last four. It was great to catch up, but also to venture down roads we never knew existed! TFTC St Anthony

FTF with Boydclan123

After attending an event in Ballan today the kids and I walked in the door. I checked my phone and it appeared that 8 caches had been released just 7 minutes prior! I said goodbye to the hubby and kids and jumped in the car solo hunting caches! The first 4 were found - yah all FTFs for me. Then BoydClan123 sent me a message. I told her to come join me and the last 4 caches became joint FTFs. Thanks for a fun time. So much history here and I even ventured down some unknown roads.
