A fun day out caching in the North of Auckland and South of Northland today, despite the weather. Enjoyed the little trek into this cache, and made for a quick find at GZ. TFTC!
Nice little stroll from the DOC carpark for two happy . Replaced the log, cache has a very tightly fitting lid so one wonders how dampness gets in.
Find #710Found while walking Te Araroa - new Zealands long pathway from Cape Reinga to Bluff. Thank you to all the cache owners who place and maintain these caches, and thank you to all the people who help me and others on the way. Coming down from the Ridge this morning I can see why you turned around. Luckily a quick find, log is quite damp and balled up so photo attatched as proof

Quick find at the start of an uphill section. Lovely blue skies today. The logbook was wedged too far down to take out of the cache so I made do by scribbling my name on a bit of a brown paper lunch bag. Hopefully other catchers will find the makeshift log useful.

I obviously was too lazy to read the description before planning my morning adventure and ended up face to face with a gate… parked at the allocated parking and made my way along this track. Since I was lazy with my reading I decided not to be lazy with my walking and walked up the road ( photo to prove it) TFTC
1812. Definitely not a park and grab! The walk in was rather pleasant. Logbook was damp. TFT(langsview)C.
Definitely didn’t want to go any further than we did for this cache. My hiking poles got a bit of a work out. Log book quite damp and spiral rusting so put it in a plastic bag in the hope it may protect it a bit better. TOTT definitely needed for this one as well. TFTC.
Due to border closures I’ve not been in the area for months, but should be up in the next few weeks and will check.
Day 18 of my TA adventure coming over the hill from waipu , yeah going down the hill is hard enough..glad I'm not going up ..quick find...only got this one as I went straight down to the road via the gate!!!
We stopped to talk to a local lady walking the trail from the other direction. She told us there were kiwi in this bush, although she had heard them she had never seen any. Cache was quickly spotted with the hint.
Enjoyed today around Mangawhai the landscape, caches coffee and company from tramyard. TFTC
Due to the government ordered Covid-19 lockdown, I will be doing my bit to #slowthespread. From 11.59pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020, I will not be accepting any Found logs on any of my geocaches, until the Level 4 Alert is lifted.
Quick find on our Te Araroa thru-hike. I would honestly pick a different track if just going out for the day. This one was overall pretty boring, and steep, hot, and exposed without much view except at the north end. Still, better than walking on the road!
Decided to park in the bream head parking and hop across the road to the old track access (the old post) and walk across the paddock to GZ rather than taking the new official track further up the road. a couple of minutes later we were at GZ and cache quickly found. Signed and replaced. TFTC.
Out and about with TW, doing some driveby's , walkbys etc, and just having a nice day cruising for caches. Thanks.
TF and I had planned a day up north picking up a few caches and this was one we both hadn't found. Was great to do this couple of caches today as in the past there just didn't seem to be the time. Had a pleasant walk along to GZ and the cache was soon located. TFTC
Like other cachers before us we enjoyed the short bush walk which gave us a break from the relentless sun. Once at gz cache was quickly located. All good. Contempleted heading up the hill but as there is no tree cover those thoughts quickly melted from our minds and we turned about and returned along the much cooler bush track. TFTC
Started in the car park as suggested ans just did the loop around to collect the caches.Another straight forward find with great hints too.We understand why you gave up here but dont think we will go to much further ourselves today.
The weather was just right, so I took two days to go up to Waipu to get in some Geocaching. Also, I wanted to make sure all my camping gear was in order for next month's Mega in Wellington.
I know you said not to, but I came in the back way. The gate can only stop cars and not Geocachers since there is an easy way around on foot. TFTC.

This was a real mission!
It looks like private gates....
Read a few logs - then dared to walk behind them.
Someone mentioned a track so went off drive on a track...
OH NO!!!! Bulls and Cows!
Took off very quickly.
( Due to reports on news re walkers being trampled by cattle in Totara Park...)
I then read Gorby's log....He always tells it like it is..
Back to walk up the drive...Ahhhhh yes !
An official post showing the way to a walk!!!!!!
Phew.

Out in the Mangawhai area and whilst passing here, during a bit of a break in the grotty weather, decided to stop off and look for the other nearby caches. A lovely walk along the cool damp track and once near GZ, the most obvious hiding spot was spotted and the cache was quickly located in the hint location. One day I will have to walk up the trail to the top, but not today, as the rain is threatening again. TFTC
I have set myself a challenge for this year to have at least the same number of caches on each day of my calender as the number of years I have been caching.
Out and about around Mangawhai picking up the necessary caches. A nice little 1.5km, 20 minute walk.
Cheers for the cache.

Nice easy find on our way along the Langs View Track, heading towards the Brynderwyns. TFTC
We were plouwing through the field for nothing. We had easily gone by the concealed road after the gate. Although now we have a much satisfaide feeling writing our names on the log. TFTC

(1848) Out doing a little caching after work. What a great track to walk, even though its very short. TFTC
Our 900th find on a swelteringly hot day so it's a quick dash back to the car before heading to the accommodation for a well-earned cuppa. TFTC.
Found by Mama Jackson after Papa Jackson and Miss 6 had no luck. Easy walk for Miss 3.
When we tried to find this cache a few days ago (to post the FTF) we came across the large gates blocking the way. Then we realised that we needed to follow the track from the car park down the road to get this cache rather than climbing over the private property gates. Once the rain had stopped, off we went today and quickly found the post in the hint and the log was duly signed. Thanks for another reason to walk this track McA! We started to climb up the hill but it seemed never ending so we turned back for home. TFTC.
Today I received a message from [blue]McA[/blue] more or less challenging me to come and find his new cache: "I thought you were committed! I know you are mad Gorby, but just how mad are you?"
He knew off course, that I wasn't in Auckland but in Whangarei somewhere because I said to him the other day I was going there with my parents and staying 2 nights.
Boy! I'm committed alright,,,, committed ALL the way, yea.... challenge accepted [blue]McA.[/blue] But since I was in Russell at the mo, chasing down several FTF's (which I got btw) I said I'll check in here on the way home today and see if I couldn't get another FTF to boot.
Arrived at this massive and imposing gate called Langsview Estate. My co-ords pointed straight thru it 100m. 'Hmmm what's going on here [blue]McA[/blue], are you going nuts man, this seems like it's on private property.' what the heck, let's go take a peek, I'd like to see what's up that drive anyway.
Wandered up and found a start of a track. How bizarre is that! So [blue]McA[/blue] was right alright.
there is a post that says so and a cache that goes with it. Awesome, I opened it and with baited breathe I see a well and truly blank log! Nice! So I sign myself in as {FTF} then returned the way I came.
Checked C:geo for other caches here and there and I see [blue]McA[/blue] has other FTF's, but they have just gone yesterday. I wondered why they never went for this cache too, I'm guessing that those imposing gates put them off maybe. So I went off to do 'Langsview Track No Parking' then as my final cache for the day.
Cheers [blue]McA[/blue] for the cache and the fun.
