Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Back in WA to visit family and work Grain Harvest. Currently staying in Goomalling while we wait for the crops to be ready. [^] Today we headed out to explore Dowerin, Minnivale and Wyalkatchem using Geocaching as a guide.TFTC WebblyWA
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 72 - Wyalkatchem to Westonia via Trayning, Nungarin and Merredin. Today I was back at heading to new Counties. I stopped at as many of the roadside caches as I could. I did a few cemetery multis. When I reached Merredin, it was time to do some Labs alongside some great caches around town. I was happy to get off the main road and head towards Westonia where my afternoon was split up by a few different activities before cooking dinner at the van. I'm heading back west on a new row of counties north of the past few.As I went into town for breakfast, I stopped over the road from the museum. The cache was found quickly and signed. Thanks for the cache WebblyWA48335.1 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2009 Del Murto A#140**Albida**
Caperdoodle 2 and I found this one on our Wheatbelts wander. Whilst saying hello to the corellas.
Another of the sleepy west Aus towns, makes for no muggle issues. This one initially appeared gone but a search of leaf litter turned it up. Tftc

Unfortunately all the clues were missing. Will see what that means for the final.
Unfortunately all the clues were missing. Will see what that means for the final.
Found on a trip to the west from South Australia., visiting friends and relatives, checking out the sites and finding caches of interest along the way.
The weather has been really good since I headed north of Perth. There has been no rain and the winds haven’t been too bad. Makes a welcome change from the previous 3 weeks when I was constantly beating my way into strong winds and it rained almost every night! I hope it holds out for the next couple of weeks as I head south end east on my way home.
The cache was found in good condition. However there was no sign of the associated piece of equipment/machinery and I couldn’t see any number on the logsheet.
Thanks WebblyWA for the cache.

After our DNF up the up the road we were still hopeful to collect the rest of the clues to still solve the final. But this one had a "replacement log" with no clue I guess we'll try for the series another day.
On a road trip around the wheatbelt areas of Western Australia for a few weeks. We are enjoying the many friendly towns along the way, whether staying in the CP’s or camping out. So far, we have found every cache that we have looked for, and hopefully our streak will last as we move around to the next town and beyond. Thank you so much to the CO’s of every cache for placing them for our enjoyment. They certainly bring you to many spots that you might not stop at otherwise.
Passing though for the night and on the way out decided to try give this one a go.
Unfortunately couldn’t find this one.
Will try again in a couple weeks

A day caching in Northam, Meckering, Cunderdin, Tammin, Kellerberrin and Merredin, before heading around through Nungarin, Kununuppin, Trayning, Yelbeni and Wyalkatchem to the event in Minnivale. Weather was glorious and it was a DNF free day. Caching at its best. Thanks for your contribution to a great day.
Destination Minnivale and what has become a tradition of sorts... BYO Marshmallows number V. Some fun with friends around a camp fire sharing some drinks, some hint, some tall stories and plenty of laughs.
Day two off with 3 car out on the road picking up caches here and there.
I'm with Kyzabra, the fitzys, Granett, Cirrus_WA, SVKR and sir fancy
The plan today is loose, no real plan just Caching with mates.

Geology rocks but Geography is where it’s at!
Spent last night in minivale and decided to head out today with Allied_OZ, Granett and SVKR_WA and The Fitzys for a day grabbing some nearby caches. Plan initially was Dowerin, then Wyalkatchem then wherever. Sir Fancy and Cirrus_WA joined us for the morning as well.
All good here again
Many thanks to WebblyWA for placing and maintaining Wylie Travels - Museum. I was here at 9:50 am on Saturday and this is my find 9647.

Woke up bright and early and had a slow morning around the campsite.
Had a bit of chat about plans for the day and joined up with SirFancy, Kyzabra, AlliedOz, Granett, SVKR_WA & Fitzys.
Started off heading into Dowerin before making our way across to Wyalkatchem.
We turned north towards Koorda so I was able to tick off a new LGA. After stopping in town for lunch we made our way back to camp and waited for everyone else to arrive for a fantastic marshmallow event.
Had a ball out and about today with 26 finds.

Had a few people looking around near GZ so thought we may have caught up with some cachers, but as we approached, they circled around to the museum entrance. Think they were only checking out if the collection was worth viewing from inside. Retrieved cache and returned to car to sign out of sight. Collected pathtag (thanks Meme28.. we seem to be following your tracks) then subtly returned cache to its hiding spot. TFTC
This museum certainly brings back a lot of memories of the years that Spot worked with CBH. Thanks to the cacher who replaced the cache. All in good nick here.
Out and about in the Central Wheatbelt area this weekend on a mission to grab some missing LGA's. After 1200 odd K's, 43 finds, a few DNF's and two nights under the stars, it was mission accomplished.
Scratched around the obvious spot for a bit but no joy here I'm afraid.
WebblyWA I couldn't find your cache, this was my 1st DNF for the day. I did have 21 finds today so all is not lost.

Hi there WebblyWA.
We found your cache **"Wylie Travels - Museum"** at 11:00:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 22332).
We are heading from SA to WAGB in Northam & we stopped off in Dowering on the way through. Now that we've settled in a nearby caravan park we have taken the opportunity to head out and find some of the caches we had couldn't have done with a caravan in tow.
We found 10 caches today & DNF'd 0. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic travels around Australia.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 3m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

I got distracted by the tree and had to use the hint to find the cache. I didn’t have time to visit the museum today looks like it would be interesting.
Happy Australia Day! What better way for a cacher to celebrate our national day than to pick up some great Aussie caches. While passing through Wyalkatchem with ilook4geo, we decided to have a go at this little Wylie Travels series. This cache was a nice easy find, the log was signed and the info for the final was noted. Thanks go to WebblyWA for placing these caches and featurimg different points of interest in the town.
Hot and windy for Australia Day, but not too bad. Out caching with goingplaces2 and we had a fairly good day. All found caches had logs signed and were put back properly before we left. TFTC.
First visit to Wylie for us. Busy in town today which was great to see to see its thriving. Quick find. Thanks WebblyWA
Headed up to Wylie today to grab the WT series. This was our first of the series and was found without too many dramas. Got the required info and raced back to the car. Our adventures had taken us longer than we had planned and now time was our big enemy as it was afternoon and we were due back in Perth for dinner with friends at 5.30. Bad planning here by muggle husband. TFTF. Nice to find caches with themes and a little bit extra!
Day 71 of our 366 day straight challenge. In Wylie with the fam for a weekend away and caching while here!
Nice easy find thanks to the hint. Clues noted, log signed and cache replaced as found. Now to visit the museum! TFTC

We had a free day and the weather was perfect so decided on a short caching trip to Koorda. Thanks for the cache WebblyWAe we had fun looking for it.
WE are spending the night in Wylie and the first stop was the information centre. While my wife went inside I ducked over to grab this one. It didn't take too long to locate.

A two day trip to the wheatbelt to tackle the ever growing number of green and orange dots on the map and cleanup some archived caches that are still in play has been on the cards for a very long time, just the timing has never been right!
With these new wheatbelt science trail caches being published and the two of us having a rare Saturday off we decided to meet in Northam before heading off for a full days caching.
We started off a bit slow needing to fuel in Northam before heading to kellerberrin and then to the northern wheatbelt to cleanup a few FTF opportunities.
We got to Keller Fella as the locals call it and missed the FTF by around 25 minutes.
From Kellerberrin we headed north towards Mikinbudin, Bencubbin, Koorda, Wyalkatchem, Goomallinh and finally we said our farewells again in Northam.
It was a huge day out today with 18 finds, around 800km on the clock, 5 FTFs and 3 archived caches. We saw some really nice features of the wheatbelt and have made a nice dent in the nearly 100 unfound caches we have still got to collect out this way.
Special thanks to the local and not so local COs for their caches, very much appreciated in these parts of Western Australia!!

Wheatbelt caching is some of my favourite caching, well anything away from the noise, smell and hustle of the city is great. The wheatbelt has it all, long drives, great scenery, brilliant sights, and interesting stuff at every turn.

Avoiding the rain in Perth we headed out for a day trip around the wheatbelt, finding a few caches along the way... A quick find here after a bit of headscratching We cleary had not read the final description very well as we wondered what the clue was about (and perhaps we did not notice the object on top as it was covered in mud lol)
TFTC WebblyWA [^] Cache was full of water so we dried it out the best we could. Log was ok.

Well talk about a delay in logging! Time has just flown by since I undertook this awesome LGA weekend with PommieParkin. Due to the delay, you will have to excuse the generic log.
PP2 enquired as to whether I would like to go on an adventure to get some more LGA's under our belts, to which I said of course! Set out on the Saturday to head up into the Wheatbelt for the weekend. We first stopped at Northam to do one or two of the Bristag caches I had heard so much good things about. Unfortunately we only managed one, but it did not disappoint!
From there we headed east through Meckering, Cunderdin and Tammin (knocking off a couple of LGA's). From there, we headed north to Wyalkatchem, stopping at a couple of interesting places for caches. I particularly enjoyed the stop at Yorkrakine Rock, it was such a beautiful spot.
We finally reached Wylie, where we were staying the night. Before the day was over we completed the wonderful series by WebblyWA, which gave us a great tour of the town. Once the caching was over, we met up with WebblyWA at night and had the pleasure to experience a drive-in cinema in Koorda, which was conveniently another LGA
On the Sunday, we finished off the caches we had on our list in Wylie and headed west towards Dowerin, where WebblyWA had another series. It was another great series and the final ended up being my 1000th cache found!
From there, we kept heading west to Goomalling for another LGA. This was where our LGA hunt was meant to stop. But, it was here that the LGA bug got to me and it became a case of "well if we just travel half an hour this way, we can get another LGA". So after little time spent convincing PP2, we headed north to Wongan Hills, stopping in Konnongorring for some great views at Gabby Quoi Quoi. Unfortunately, Wongan Hills cemetery was where we had our first DNF of the weekend, meaning our hopes of another LGA were riding on the one other cache in town. Luckily it was an easy enough find.
We then headed west towards Calingiri for one last LGA, stopping to admire Lake Ninan on the way (can't believe there isn't a cache there!). The cache in Calingiri was found, putting my total of LGA's found on the weekend to 8.
I had such an awesome weekend exploring this part of our great state. Many thanks go to the various CO's of the caches. But, I would particularly like to thank PP2 for suggesting the weekend, WebblyWA for some great series and Kyzabra for coming up with the LGA challenge, without which I probably wouldn't have explored this great area.

First visit to Wyalkatchem. I suppose it high time I learned how to pronounce it,
Mentioned to muggle the other day that I needed three more LGAs to reach 90 to complete a challenge so he devised a route for us to go so I could get a few more. I added to the route so after 1350km in total and 36hrs return trip back home to Bunbury I got 16 LGAs all up which I'm happy with and 35 cache finds
Yesterdays travel was Bunbury to Pingelly, Quairading, Bruce Rock, Narembeen, Merredin, Carrabin, Moorine Rock and back to Merredin to recouperate
After getting back into town after caching last night at 9.50pm and a not so comfy sleep in one of the local motels it was up and earlyish start for the morning as today is Nungarin, Kununoppin, Mukinbudin, Welbungin, Bencubbin, Koorda, Trayning (an extra I added at the last moment), Wyalkatchem, Dowerin, Goomalling, Northam, Greenmount and back to Bunbury
Can't wait to travel todays towns again but next time spend some time looking around the towns and going to the museums
I have never been to any of these wheatbelt towns before so thoroughly enjoyed our 'for now' quick visit
Parked about half way between museum and info bay caches in the shade to have lunch. Had nearly finished when I remembered a cache near the museum so head down there with only the hint in mind but didn't see the rocks (blaming it on tiredness) so back to the car for gps and muggle goes 'are those the rock' duh so it was.
SL and noted vehicle then onto the info bay cache and after remembered I had a clue to get so came back to this one for that. Thankfully all done and noted and even took a photo of vehicle in case I forgot that too

Headed back up to Geraldton for another caching run (third time this year). We started off by picking up as many caches as we could in the wheatbelt on the first day before arriving in Geraldton. The next day we headed up to port Gregory and Kalbarri and the highlight of the day would have to be be the pink lakes in port Gregory. Day 3 saw us caching in Geraldton picking up some we missed last time and clearing up a few of our DNFS here before adding some more DNFS to the list. Day 4 we headed off to mount magnet picking up some caches along the way till we arrived there. I must say the caches in mount magnet were quite tricky to find and it was also a stinking hot day so we didn't get to find all the caches we were hoping to find there. The last day we cached along the coast on the way home. Once again it was stinking hot and we missed doing a lot of the caches we hoped to find plus the flies were driving us crazy but we still got to visit some great places. Most of the caches we looked for we did find and we came across some very sneaky well made cache containers along the way. Thanks to all the CO,s for placing there caches for us and all the other geocachers to find.
I took a stroll past the museum this morning.
And even from outside the fence I could see some good stuff lying around
All I was interested in here was the cache
And after a short stroll along the fence,
a cache was found
I added another number to me list of clues [^]

I love the theme. Would be good fun for the kids! Thanks for hiding these non-nanos! www.thesoloavocado.com
Found it! Flew in for the Wylie fly-in! Loved the museum. Very handy to have a cache near the pick up point for the shuttle back to the airport! TFTC.
Hi there WebblyWA - We found Wylie Travels - Museum today - our find # 3713, while out and about on a lightning tour of the Northern Wheatbelt. The cache was found quickly and the container and log are in good condition. Thanks to WebblyWA for the cache.
