Logs
Did not find when I tried in a short window last week. Not sure if it was because of a bouncy GPS or if it's actually missing. There was A LOT of other plastic waste and rubbish in the approximate vicinity. Would be good to head in and get it all cleaned up.
Maybe not the best cache to choose to do on my way home from work, my work clothes are now a little moist as was the inside of the cache container and the log paper. Still dry enough to scribble on, but starting to look a bit mildew-ey. Cool spot to visit, TFTC!
Parked on the side of the main road and walked onto the lane.Allowed the apps navigator to guide me to the approximate location before entering the trees through a gap.Two meters away, I spotted the cache awaiting my arrival. It contained a number of toys and what appeared to be the entire history of logs sheets. I took and left nothing.I signed the loneliest log sheet that was a little tattered but signable. Cheers.Sleepy was here!
Fun adventure for the kids. The box is damp and logs are wet, but we added a bunch of swaps for the next geocacher. TFTC.
Tftc easy find, walked through a mid pit to get to it so watch out for the grass at the top of the hill. Needs new paper the stuff that is in their is very damp
A little damp scramble to get there while geohound kept watch and hustled another dog owner for their ball, the easy find was made. Tftc
Found after a wee fossick, the past logs were helpful. I found a better entrance a bit further along then backtracked to within 5m of my phone coords under the trees. Yes that hedgehog might struggle a little. Original log wet but new one in eclipse tin wasn’t too damp to sign yet. Thanks
Fun times going through the bushes finding this beauty. Log still wet. Thanks for the cache!
Oh this looks like an amazing childhood play jungle. Seems like older children now inhabit the area given the many bottles. Found after a long scramble and a few entrances/exits of the bush. Tftc!
It was a few years ago when I first tried to find this cache and I couldn't really remember anything about that visit. I decided it was time to return to see if I was better at finding the cache than a hedgehog. I was pleased to lay my hands on the good sized container after a couple of minutes.
Second cache of the day with Ezratar. A good fun one searching the forest for a cache. Eventually spotted it and logged out find. Ezra loved the Reading Gnome in the park nearby. Thanks for the cache..
Out and about with GB Leader and RogerW1nz. Went into the bush at almost the right spot. Was found once someone standing on the right side of hint. Well done RogerW1nz. TFTC
#1335. I recorded a DNF for this cache on 6 Aug 2019, nearly 18 months ago. Having picked up six caches in the Porirua area, then having dinner with GB Leader and JustlookingOO, it was starting to get darkish. But even at 8.30 pm, it’s still light enough to cache during daylight saving, so we targetted this one on the way home.
Read the logs to reacquaint myself with the area, and started searching. Even with three of us, and being totally misled by the description and one or two of the logs, it took half an hour before, finally, I had the cache in hand. Yippee! A blue frownie becomes a yellow smiley.
During the search I found a long lost garden Gnome half buried in the bushes, so brought him out into the daylight and placed him under a tree. Hopefully his owner will find him there.
Some advice for the next searchers: as the CO is no longer active, it appears some cache creep has occurred. It’s no longer “tucked just inside the undergrowth” but further into the trees, and is just up off ground level. I think a hedgehog would have trouble finding it. The container is still secure but the old logs are very damp, as has been noted. I have inserted a brand new log, inside a container, inside a plastic bag. Hopefully that will prolong its life.
Tftc TFamily1. Shame you appear to have abandoned this cache without adopting it out.

Fell for the same wrong entry point as others, came out and got back track around the corner. Log too damp to sign, pic included.
Quite and easy one to find following the hint and previous cachers info. Thanks CO for the cache.
We had 30 minutes to waste whilst waiting to pick up our boy from school so we went looking for this cache. I was a bit concerned about this one as the last two logs are DNFs but we needn’t have worried as we ended up finding it straight away. We went directly to the GZ and thought like a geo-cacher. However, it would have been very easy to look straight past it without realising as only the corner of the tub was peaking through the leaf litter. I agree with other logs that you have to approach this one from the right direction, which was made a little harder because we were in jandals. The log book was very damp and could do with being replaced. There was a good number of trades in there. TFTC.
Well maybe a hedgehog could find it, but not me! Even reading GSEL’s helpful log was no help. I didn’t have a lot of time though, so I will return for another look some time in the future.
One of those caches that's hard to find in the dark - including trying to find a way into the trees and then trying to figure out what sort of hide to search for. I wasn't too sure of the hint but I soon found it after taking the 'where would I hide it?' approach. A nice hide but unfortunately a bit damp. TFTC.
Too a while in the dark but finally got my hands on it thanks to GSELs hint. Very wet inside. TFTC
A very wet last couple of days (and misty/wet morning today), combined with a dodgy GPS and an approach from the complete wrong side made for an ‘interesting’ experience to say the least. Thank goodness I managed to find the cache to make it all worth it, even after a precarious (and unnecessary) stream crossing in the depths of the bush. Thanks for making the cache a very easy find once at the correct GZ! Now time to go home and change my shoes and socks before heading off for work..
To add to my log - the pad is pretty much soaked through and desperately needing replacement!
Had been here once before but it was wet and didn't like to look of the bushes, so came round today to check out the GZ and found the cache. The logsheet is pretty damp - those Sestima containers are not vary waterproof. Got my name recorded eventually. TFTC
Wasn't quite sure where to start here so dived into the bush to start the hunt. Followed the GPS and then along with a hint from GSEL's log spotted the cache - all helped by making the approach from the right direction.
Log completed and two trackables dropped off to continue their journeys. Cache returned where found with a bit more leaf litter placed over it to hide it away from any muggle eyes.
Thanks for the cache.

Thanks for the cache.
I was fortunate to approach from the right direction and spotted the cache fairly quickly. Care needed when searching as there are lot of glass bottles about and some maybe broken.

Took some time to find this elusive one in the dark, but got it eventually. All safe and dry here. TFTC
Fun description, amazing how much things can change from childhood. We found the cache quite easily, although I see from the logs that isn't always the case - we must have approached from the right way!! Nice and dry even though it's been a while since it was last visited. Tftc
A very very good hide. Thanks to GSELs hint we found it relatively quickly in the dark. Thank you for a great hide
Found reasonably quickly, but only because I had read GSEL's log with the hint, or I would still have been searching. Well hidden. Another area that is completely new to me. Thanks for placing a cache here.
After looking at a recent finder's photo, we finally found this one. Great hide! Popped some treasure inside.
After fruitless search about a month ago, came back in daylight. B found very quickly. TFTC!
Took a bit of fossicking about but Geodog found it in the end. We couldn't find our writing stick. Nice place. Could use a bit of a community effort to take all the rubbish out and make it a nice place for kids to explore again. Tftc
Tricky little find. Can see it if you approach from right direction. All good here. TFTC
A nice find while in the area this afternoon. Thanks very much for showing me this nice little reserve tucked away in suburbia.
The cache is in great condition.

A good clear space nearby and plenty of satellites makes for good instrument guidance and a quick find Thanks for this one The little reserve needs some TLC to clear weeds It could be a little gem TFTC
In Wellington on holiday, thought I'd grab a few smilies to fill in a sunny winter afternoon. Tried a few entrances before coming across the right one, then was grateful of GSEL's hint as there were so many potential spots. Had cache in hand quite quickly considering! TFTC
Found after attending WENZ 2018 - The Launch Party Event before heading home to Palmerston North. Thanks TFamily for the cache.
Easy find with Noel Sixten during our Christmas visit. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Sweden!
I just came from another cache in a small bushy reserve and while that was a real PITA and an unrewarding find this was visible on approach and a decent container. Not sure if it was hidden as intended but I returned as found. TFTC.
Found using GSEL's hint. Went in under the trees at the less helpful point, as it turned out. Remarkably easy to spot from one angle, tricky from the other side. TFTC
Found with a group of college students. First time geocaching for the group.
It was cool to visit the old haunts. There use to be a massive playground structure here.

Found It. My Phone was acting up because of the dense bush but we manged to spot it without coordinates
TFTC. I nice little area. Had a good rummage around and came across the hide. Cache is dry with lots of cool items inside. Happy Halloween 2016
I had to bring grand daughter down to wellington Airport and then stay here for a few days with other grand children so i went to have a second look for this cache which i failed to find last april. This time it was reasonably straight forward.. had the hint changed?? i wonder?? So it quickly signed and replaced. So thank you for this cache and another smiley face.
7461. Fitted in some geocaching today with granddaughter Stella (Starza). This was cache find number two of seven for the day. This one took about ten minutes of searching. Thanks for the cache. Rodney.
Did some geocaching today with my Poppa (Sallies). We found this one quite quickly on the way home from the supermarket. Thanks for the cache. Stella.
This was a dot day for me (#300!) so wanted to find a quick one. After failing to find the mini mouse reserve, this was my backup. I went to Rewa Rewa School for a couple of terms or so when we rented nearby and I have a very vague recollection of a fort being nearby. Memory fades with age - the only thing I definitely remember about this area was seeing some wetas on the trees.
Was searching quite a while here - I didn't have GSEL's issues with access as I had found the correct way in, but still took a while. GSEL's hint worked for me in the end. Signed the log and returned the cache from whence it came.
I took the geokids over the road to wander around the school afterwards. Some things have changed in 32 years, some remain the same. TFTC and the trip down memory lane.

#2333. I needed a couple of caches today so decided to head over to Newlands tonight to pick up some caches placed since my last visit to this area. Took a few minutes to figure out where I could park in this area. Never been here before and it was bit confusing in the dark. Then walked over to the bush margin and found a route in. Well I looked for about 10-15 minutes in a lot of places and no cache was found. So headed out of the trees, waited for the GPS to resettle and back in via another entry point. This time I spied an object and looking under it I found the cache. It is pretty well hidden and it could easily have been missed in this area with a multitude of hiding spots. Getting the right path in is important. If you are struggling, the cache is west of a dead punga and at GL. Thanks for the cache.
Took awhile to find as went in the wrong way. Got there in the end. Left pet rock. SL TFTC out caching with my muggle niece
Cache # 3,175 - A quick find today, done with Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly. All good with the cache. TNLNSL. TFTC!

Did this morning with Violet Butterfly, The Wandering Dragons and GeoKelpie. Quick find that VB put their hands on first. Swapped in a playing card, took a car. Thank you!
Cache # 607
Cache # 607
Once again the cache was easily spotted once the right access point was found. Added a little extra cover when re-hiding. TFTC
Given the previous logs, I was expecting this to be a bit of a search, but the GPS led me straight to it, TFTC
Like zboy's log I too was expecting a challenge. It was a delight to me when I walked, ducked, scanned and found the cache in a matter of less that a minute. Way to go!
A little pocket of playful bush tucked away here in the middle of suburbia. Nice one.
I enjoyed the reminiscing in the description and could picture the earlier days spent playing here.
Cache in order; log signed, safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

First cache of the day on my hunting tour. Took me some time to find the cache but finnaly stumbled over the correct spot.
Clearly the previous finder made too good a job of "improving the hide", as despite searching for some time, we were unable to find it today. We did spot what may have been a swap from the cache, suggesting we weren't too far away.
I quickly found a gap in the bush and dived in. The cache was clearly visible a few feet away. Grabbed a trackable and signed the log and took a few minutes to improve the hide. TFTC!
