Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Back in WA to visit family and work Grain Harvest. Currently staying in Goomalling while we wait for the crops to be ready. [^] Today we headed out to explore Dowerin, Minnivale and Wyalkatchem using Geocaching as a guide.TFTC WebblyWA
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 71 - Goomalling to Wyalkatchem via Dowerin. I had a steady preparation for the day and got on the road on a cloudy and windy day. I did a few caches along the road to Dowerin and stopped at the cemetery before catching up with Sacada and Aquillus at Dowerin. There were some good caches around town and even an open shop for morning tea. Next was the drive to Wyalkatchem where I go to visit two old wells, one still sharp and deep with water in it. The Welcome to Wyalkatchem art is amazing. Once I set up at the caravan park, it rained very steadily, so I stayed inside for the afternoon. Off to Westonia tomorrow with three new counties to visit.Last time I saw the Rabbit fence I was not far from Kulin. The fence did not seem a integral here, but it is nice to know where it was. The cache was found despite the ground being soft. Thanks for the cache WebblyWA48328.11 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2014 Hidden Fish A#288**Albida**
Caching with Team Barritts on the Koorda GIFF weekend getaway. Thanks to all the CO's for placing & maintaining their hides and bringing us to some fantastic new spots!
Heading out to the Koorda GIFF event with BJA3 for the weekend. Cache found in poor condition and about 20 m from GZ, lucky to spot it when we did. We replaced the container and hid in its rightful location. Managed to find another broken container nearby which was probably the original. Thanks for placing this hide for us and others to enjoy finding!
Container is broken and its contents were scattered around the area. Looks like an animal has gotten into it.
Found this one after two days of looking for a particular grevillea in the area. The cache was much easier to find. Possibly too out in the open. Great to have the details of the fences to read about.
Thank you! Out on a day trip with dad to Wyalkatchem and back. Happy to make the find here.
Found the cache parts spread out. Lid to outer is missing, but inner and log are fine.

Fun hide and a good place to stop and show the kids this important but of history. TFTC!
On a road trip around the wheatbelt areas of Western Australia for a few weeks. We are enjoying the many friendly towns along the way, whether staying in the CP’s or camping out. So far, we have found every cache that we have looked for, and hopefully our streak will last as we move around to the next town and beyond. Thank you so much to the CO’s of every cache for placing them for our enjoyment. They certainly bring you to many spots that you might not stop at otherwise.
Cute one.
Wandering this area, signed the log as EV and thanks for the cache and hunt

They were seeking some pipe line repairs nearby so we had to be stealthy. It's surprising how busy and area can be.
Out with L177 for a few more finds before parting ways. Happy to add this smiley to todays list. Thanks WebblyWA. I love being out in the wheatbelt
Out in the Wheatbelt again for the second consecutive weekend. This weekend the plan was to attack a number of towns in the North Eastern Wheatbelt and attend the FOTT event in Minnivale. It was a terrific weekend. Thank you to all the COs involved in providing entertainment this weekend.
Cute little cache! Thanks for bringing us here. Cheers WebblyWA!

Spent last night in minivale and decided to head out today with Allied_OZ, Granett and SVKR_WA and The Fitzys for a day grabbing some nearby caches. Plan initially was Dowerin, then Wyalkatchem then wherever. Sir Fancy and Cirrus_WA joined us for the morning as well.
This one was quickly spotted on approach and names added.
Many thanks to WebblyWA for placing and maintaining Rabbit Proof Fence No.2. I was here at 9:27 am on Saturday and this is my find 9645.

Geology rocks but Geography is where it’s at!
Started heading eastward and pulled off the road to come and look for this cache. With a number of eyes at GZ it was a simple find.

Woke up bright and early and had a slow morning around the campsite.
Had a bit of chat about plans for the day and joined up with SirFancy, Kyzabra, AlliedOz, Granett, SVKR_WA & Fitzys.
Started off heading into Dowerin before making our way across to Wyalkatchem.
We turned north towards Koorda so I was able to tick off a new LGA. After stopping in town for lunch we made our way back to camp and waited for everyone else to arrive for a fantastic marshmallow event.
Had a ball out and about today with 26 finds.

I emptied the water out of both containers and tipped the cache upside down to give it a chance of staying dry. The log is dry btw.
Arrived at GZ just as the sun came out after a heavy downpour. Sunshine on the crops with black-blue clouds behind made for some amazing scenery and we couldn’t resist the opportunity for photographs. While parked a farmer came along after just checking her rain gauges. She was very pleased with the rain with 8ml on one block and 1ml on the other. Found cache in good condition. TFTC
Found. Our fav. The lid is broken and container is full of water but the log is dry. Bunny is not attached any longer. Thank you for the cache.
Out today finding some caches WebblyWAi found your cache Rabbit Proof Fence No.2 this is find number 1585 for me TFTH
Making the most of the public holiday today with Itskate and B12. Travelled around 670km and picked up one FTF for the day.
The weather was simply amazing and great to see a bit of water on the ground after the last week of rain.
Thanks to all the CO’s for your placement of these caches bringing me to some interesting places.
Looking forward to seeing you at WAGB Albany during the WA day long weekend.

Out and about in the Central Wheatbelt area this weekend on a mission to grab some missing LGA's. After 1200 odd K's, 43 finds, a few DNF's and two nights under the stars, it was mission accomplished.
Camped the night at the nearby Minnivale Campgrounds before hitting the road again. This was my first stop today. Parked up about 30 meters from GZ and had no trouble spotting the cute container.
WebblyWA I found your cache at 7:46am, this was the 1st of 21 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 5876. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

After two surgeries in the last two months, then getting bad news about more plus getting things done at home I thought it was time for a short getaway to recharge the mind so Mr dimor chose the location for a change and that happened to be Dowerin for three nights
Today was our day to 'spread our wings' a little and head to Wylie to cache.
After a little detour off the road to Minnivale and then a long route back to the main road we finally made our way here on our drive east.

This weekend has been some time in the planning and we were heading up this way to drive the Wheatbelt Way Trail and collect geocaches along the route. We also had GCA caches, Waymarks and Sighters on the radar which should break up the trip nicely. We had no set plans for accommodation and we decided that we would see where we ended up each day to set up camp. This cache was one that we targeted on our mini adventure. Cheers and TFTC.

Could not believe I had to pretend I needed a toilet stop as big truck parked up near gz thankfully he left quickly. Was on to this bunny & hopped right out of there!
This little bunny came hopping out to us immediately. Lovely time of the day with the sun starting to descend and our belly’s very ready for dinner at the end of the WAGB19 weekend
A quick find of this cute container.
On a little road trip gathering some LGAs.

Hi there WebblyWA.
We found your cache **"Rabbit Proof Fence No.2"** at 9:38:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 22318).
We are heading from SA to WAGB in Northam & we stopped off in Dowering on the way through. Now that we've settled in a nearby caravan park we have taken the opportunity to head out and find some of the caches we had couldn't have done with a caravan in tow.
We found 10 caches today & DNF'd 2. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic travels around Australia.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 3m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Very cute container. Can’t see any remnants of the fence or signage so wouldn’t have known it’s here without the cache.
Happy Australia Day! What better way for a cacher to celebrate our national day than to pick up some great Aussie caches. We went hunting along with ilook4geo and this cache was a very easy find. Clearly the rabbit proof fence did not work here. Thank you to WebblyWA for another cache placement so we could add to our smiley count.
Hot and windy for Australia Day, but not too bad. Out caching with goingplaces2 and we had a fairly good day. All found caches had logs signed and were put back properly before we left. TFTC.
Heading to Merredin via Koorda. Found the contents in a sorry state drenched in 3cm of water. Drained, cleaned and dried container. Disposed of sodden and slimy contents. Left new log book in plastic bag. Thanks WebblyWA
Day 72 of our 366 day straight challenge. Camping with the fam in Wyalkatchem and getting our cache on.
Took a short drove out of town for this one. Happy to report an easy find, however cache container water which made log book a bit wet. Still managed to get our name on there writing softly. Thanks for the cache, a fav from us for the container.

We had a free day and the weather was perfect so decided on a short caching trip to Koorda. Thanks for the cache WebblyWA we had fun looking for this cutie.
Out wandering around through the Wheatbelt we found this one.
Also Found the padlock to put back on the gate, all old and rustic from a by gone era.
Thanks for sharing.

Out for a couple of days caching, with the Geoson in the northern wheatbelt. Hopefully knocking off a few more lga's off the list.
Despite the weather, some fantastic finds and a few dnf's were had.
A big thanks to all the co's for placing and maintaining these hide. Great work showing off some real gems of the wheatbelt.

Good Friday sees me heading into the northern wheatbelt to clear out a few caches and cross off another 5 LGAs.
Headed out early and headed for Goomalling for the first stop. Then headed further north.
Nice quick find here today. My second rabbit proof fence cache today.

Found this cache on our way to the OZ Geo Muster at Morisset NSW.
We parked the caravan up on the main road and walked down to find this very cute cache. Unfortunately it is very wet, I tried to dry it out and turned the bag the log is in inside out as it was dryer on the outside.
thanks

Well it’s now day 15 if our Northern adventure , now more Eastern adventure as we head south of the Great Eastern Hwy with m4yb, Jonathan the camper trailer and Max the GeoUte.
Out for a day in this nice area.
One wonders how successful the fence is/was especially with all the ones running around on the foreshore of Scarborough! There was a lovely “pet” one here so have a fav for that.
Thanks for the smiley WebblyWA

Day 15 of our Adventure to the northern Goldfields and now in the Wheatbelt. After a quiet night on the farm at Wyalkatchem, we are exploring the surrounding towns.
First stop here on the way to Dowerin, and a very cute and appropriate cache . A bit of moisture inside but logbook nice and dry. TFTC and a fave for the history of the Rabbit Proof Fence, we have come across number 1on our travels as well.

Found today while visiting friends in the area. Log book dry, container damp but tried to dry it out. TFTC
Loved the cache design. Even though a system, the cache is wet so needs attention.
Took on this cache before attending the Dowerin field day. A quick find time to return to Dowerin to spend some money. TFTC.
Avoiding the rain in Perth we headed out for a day trip around the wheatbelt, finding a few caches along the way... DangerMouse09 made the quick find of the cute container after dodging the muddy puddles to GZ
TFTC WebblyWA [^] Container was full of water. We poured it out & tried to dry everything out best we could, but these types of sistemas seem to fill with water easily & probably has water inside again by now.
Took Geocoin.

Well talk about a delay in logging! Time has just flown by since I undertook this awesome LGA weekend with PommieParkin. Due to the delay, you will have to excuse the generic log.
PP2 enquired as to whether I would like to go on an adventure to get some more LGA's under our belts, to which I said of course! Set out on the Saturday to head up into the Wheatbelt for the weekend. We first stopped at Northam to do one or two of the Bristag caches I had heard so much good things about. Unfortunately we only managed one, but it did not disappoint!
From there we headed east through Meckering, Cunderdin and Tammin (knocking off a couple of LGA's). From there, we headed north to Wyalkatchem, stopping at a couple of interesting places for caches. I particularly enjoyed the stop at Yorkrakine Rock, it was such a beautiful spot.
We finally reached Wylie, where we were staying the night. Before the day was over we completed the wonderful series by WebblyWA, which gave us a great tour of the town. Once the caching was over, we met up with WebblyWA at night and had the pleasure to experience a drive-in cinema in Koorda, which was conveniently another LGA
On the Sunday, we finished off the caches we had on our list in Wylie and headed west towards Dowerin, where WebblyWA had another series. It was another great series and the final ended up being my 1000th cache found!
From there, we kept heading west to Goomalling for another LGA. This was where our LGA hunt was meant to stop. But, it was here that the LGA bug got to me and it became a case of "well if we just travel half an hour this way, we can get another LGA". So after little time spent convincing PP2, we headed north to Wongan Hills, stopping in Konnongorring for some great views at Gabby Quoi Quoi. Unfortunately, Wongan Hills cemetery was where we had our first DNF of the weekend, meaning our hopes of another LGA were riding on the one other cache in town. Luckily it was an easy enough find.
We then headed west towards Calingiri for one last LGA, stopping to admire Lake Ninan on the way (can't believe there isn't a cache there!). The cache in Calingiri was found, putting my total of LGA's found on the weekend to 8.
I had such an awesome weekend exploring this part of our great state. Many thanks go to the various CO's of the caches. But, I would particularly like to thank PP2 for suggesting the weekend, WebblyWA for some great series and Kyzabra for coming up with the LGA challenge, without which I probably wouldn't have explored this great area.

tftc WebblyWA a quick find while on a caching run through the wheatbelt today from Balcatta to Tammin, Wyalkatchem, Dowerin and Goomalling and back to Balcatta. The rabbit was pleased to see someone and he was on the right side of the fence.
Lovely cache!
Container had water inside. I cleaned out empty paper. Should be alright for next geocachers.
