30-Sep-20
Find 12 of 15 with one DNF for the day. While Mrs O and muggle friend did some car placement shenanigans so we could ride to and drive back from Bakers Hill, Mr O had an hour to find as many caches as possible and get back to the sculpture park. After that we all rode from Mundaring to Bakers Hill and had a few strategic stops along the way for a rest and a cache hunt.

Another quick stop. The host was obvious but where's the cache? Eventually spotted by employing some different angles of attack - in a particularly hard to access spot - Mrs O finally fished it out. We've put it back in the same spot but hopefully more easily retrievable. A local walker explained that the host dates from the 1890s and was part of the only communication line with Kalgoorlie.

TFTC jasenjanine!

May not have many more chances to have a go at this series any time soon so we have strapped the bikes on the rack once again to see how many we can find. A lot cooler today. TFTC jasenjanine

10-Jan-18
fter an enjoyable walk with my sister on the KEP track heading south from Mundaring Sculpture Park, today I decided to walk the track heading east from the same starting point all the way to Wooroloo. I was expecting a great adventure and this track (and the series of caches along it) did not disappoint. While the terrain was reasonably flat throughout, the frequent junctions and historical placards along the way made the trek more interesting. Lots of wildlife were spotted, lots of big grey kangaroos, bobtails, really large goannas, foxes and a wide array of birds. A great variety of hides can be found along the trail, with most caches hidden securely and in good working order. I had really good luck in finding this string of caches with only 2 DNFs for the day (i.e. Red Flag & Pipe-ular Picnic. I am feeling inspired to return another day to continue this KEP track epic. A quick find for the final one for the day.

It's Father's Day and I was happy to be able to convince the family to head out for a bit of caching. I had to find an area that would interest all so we headed out towards Wundowie.

Another nice quick park and grab

jasenjanine - SVKR_WA found your cache THE KEP - Wooroloo at 12:30:32 pm on the 3 Sep 2017. This find brings our total finds to 2269.

11-Jul-17
Met up early this morning with ssclan with the plan to ride as much of the KEP trail as we could before the rain arrived. Armed with a coffee from DOME we arrived around 7am in Chidlow. With 2 cars we took the second to Wundowie and then headed back to Childow to start the ride.

Great morning with only the 1 DNF, arriving in Wundowie by bike around 11:45am, just as the drizzle set in. From there it was a tour of several of the caches around the town followed by a couple on the way back to Chidlow.

Ended the day with 55 finds, so a great day out. Loving the KEP trail, another 36 completed today but still plenty to go.

Thanks to Jasenjanine for this great series, and for the inventive puzzles and other caches around Wundowie Smile

11-Jul-17
Headed east early this morning to get some smilies on the KEP Track with Spatialriq. Also picked up some others along the way. Quite a successful day on the bikes with 58 finds and only 1 dnf.
Thanks jasenjanine for a great series and a couple of head scratching puzzles. Hopefully I'll be back soon to complete the rest of the series.

We have been tackling this series over a period of time and it was time to bite the bullet and get it completed .... So the geowife instructed me it was my time to complete it !!!!!
I packed the car with the old push bike and hit the trail early ......
It was dark when I hit Mundaring so it was out with the torch . Did I mention the weather was dismal !!!!
I managed to collect 81 and no DNFs.
Many different containers used so it was a pleasure to see a variety and the way they were used .....
I saw the history of the KEP track in different stages from the old water pipe to the railway sliding's / landings and the buildings close to the track from that era .
Sorry for the genetic log as I didn't take any notes but will comment on the ones I can remember !!!!

Another great hide along this fantastic track. Clue was definitely a help here as cache was well camoed. TFTC. JasenJanine.

06-Aug-16
I headed out to this area with the mountain bike for a second crack at polishing off a few more of the Kep series of caches. The weather was getting better with bright blue skies now. There was still a lot of puddles along the way and no one else around. Very peaceful!

jasenjanine - jinta29 found your cache THE KEP - Wooroloo. This is my find #5575 and find #37 today. The cache is in good shape and we replaced it as found. Thanks for placing this and bringing us to this spot!

27-May-16
Headed out for an afternoon with barnzy12 towards Northam. After picking him
Up and being told just wait a minute I need to bring a few things out I got rather suspicious. I at this stage had no real idea where we were heading and what we were to find today.

Steve as always thinks ahead, stays up late and develops a plan. Out he came with a ladder....... Then a canoe and said lets pack them in and go.

In the car he stated he wanted to do a sky, land and water day. I was intrigued to say the least.

The ladder would be used to help us climb a tree and the canoe to save us getting wet instead of going for a "light" swim as its getting rather cold now.

We started of getting some Kep track caches on the way to Northam.
Then stopped in for a field puzzle or two prior to making it to Northam.

Most caches were found in good condition with one DNF and a few a little water logged after the recent storms.

We hopped to find enough today to get B12 closer to the magical 6000 finds that he is hoping to log for the WA Goes Big event in 2 weeks. See a lot of you there.

TFTC! Had a days caching planned with Cravo10 as we haven't really gone out for a full day since our action packed whirlwind 3500 kilometre trip to Kalgoorlie, Leonora, Esperance, kulin and surrounds trip.

Had a sleep in this morning before we headed out on our mission to tackle a few caches on the Lep Track to Northam, with a few others along the way thrown in for good measure.

Planning the route last night i thought of the idea of a Land, Air & Seas day, with the kep track caches forming the land leg, a kayak on the Avon forming the sea leg (river) and the air leg being some tree climbing in wundowie. This was not mentioned to John in the plans as usual as he generally gets apprehensive about these "ideas", so when he turned up I just casually mentioned "I've gotta get a couple of things from the garage", that's when the face changed and I explained about the days "goals"

Anyway we had a later than usual start and tackled a bunch of the caches between mundaring and wundowie along the kep track before deviating to lake leschenaultia. The two field puzzles here chidlows well and assembly required weren't really on the days plans, as I generally have pretty poor form when it comes to field puzzles and I bring along muggle mate come geocacher Numbers Man to solve them which generally costs me a lunch.

Lake leschenaultia turned into the highlight of the day. WP2 of assembly required is probably one of the most fun geocaches I have ever come across. Such a simple task, but quite hard aswell as I struggle to follow instructions!! And chidlows well, was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the earlier logs but we had the container within about a minute of arrival, great job on that one. Tried to take all sorts of backways to grab the final for the assembly required puzzle but should have just walked from wp2, it would have been easier and not wasted thirty minutes of our time.

After completing the lake leschenaultia caches we then continued towards Northam but time was getting tight as we didn't bring any push bikes so we were walking from the car to the cache each time which was slowing Us down significantly. We eventually got to Northam a bit later than expected and grabbed some much needed supplies to refuel the body for our next leg.

We arrived at the banks of the Avon to complete the Avon a swim cache in the geo yaks, which has been on the radar for a while with all the caching growth in the area. We paddled down with a nice strong current pushing us down the river towards GZ, we took some notes from he listing and the maps as we didn't want to take the phones on the water. Was a nice quick find in a logical spot, well the only spot really. And we then paddled back against the strong current which gave the arms a good workout. Only got marginally wet, thankfully as it was a bit chilly!!

We then planned out assault on the tree climbing aspect of the day the eucalyptus cache in wundowie, unfortunately we arrived in darkness and even after coming prepared with an extremely large ladder we still couldn't reach it and didn't want to risk life or limb in the dark for just one cache, so we decided to leave it for another time Sad

All in all another great day out, should be able fo complete the kep series on our next visit to the area which hopefully isn't too far away although the CPS series has really taken a back seat after this series was published!

Thanks to all the COs for their caches. Cheers!

24-Apr-16
Up bright and early this morning to head to Northam with iluvtrekking mainly to do The Kep Track caches. All caches in the series located using a combination of roadside access or the geo-hubbies plying the treddlies down the tracks. A great day out and many thanks to jasenjanine for the awesome effort in laying this series down.

24-Apr-16
Richlink stayed over on Saturday night so that we could make and early, early start on Sunday morning.
So, with the bikes loaded we headed off in the dark to Northam, "The Kep" caches firmly in our sights. Some of the caches were accessed on foot from the nearest parking spot and others by bike. Although there was some heavy rain storms on Monday and we were wet through we found all of the caches and had a great couple of days finishing up with lunch at The Weir Hotel on Monday.

Congratulations jasenjanine, what a fantastic effort here. Razz

So much traffic in these parts mid morning...must have been families visiting the nearby inmates. Thanks for this hide.

(chwiliwr team catch up log0

I decided that we were going out caching despite the weather so headed up to do some more of this series. Ended up quite wet at times but found all the caches without too much trouble in the rain. Some of them were even found without rain falling on us.

We started at the wier to finish of the few that we missed the other day when heading home and once they were done headed up to where we ended the other day near Wooroloo and continued on from there.

Cache logs were signed and caches returned as found.

Thanks jasenjanine for the cache.

I have spent a little bit of time on or around the KEP track between Mundaring Weir and Woorooloo, and enjoy getting out on it. It's a great area, and there is lots to see along the way.

This afternoon I cherry picked the caches that had not been logged yet, hoping for a FTF, but I ended up with 2TF or 3TF at most of them, with Chwiliwr and Blingg having been through this morning.

I had no trouble with any of the caches I went for this afternoon, with the last 5 or so being done by torch light. I look forward to coming back for the rest of the series.

Thanks for the cache jasenjanine!
