Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Back in WA to visit family and work Grain Harvest. Currently staying in Goomalling while we wait for the crops to be ready. [^] Today we headed out to explore Dowerin, Minnivale and Wyalkatchem using Geocaching as a guide.TFTC Bristag
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 71 - Goomalling to Wyalkatchem via Dowerin. I had a steady preparation for the day and got on the road on a cloudy and windy day. I did a few caches along the road to Dowerin and stopped at the cemetery before catching up with Sacada and Aquillus at Dowerin. There were some good caches around town and even an open shop for morning tea. Next was the drive to Wyalkatchem where I go to visit two old wells, one still sharp and deep with water in it. The Welcome to Wyalkatchem art is amazing. Once I set up at the caravan park, it rained very steadily, so I stayed inside for the afternoon. Off to Westonia tomorrow with three new counties to visit. The ground was quite soft and the track was a bit narrow, so I walked from the main car park out to the well. Only a depression here, but a quick cache find before I headed back to the car. Thanks for the cache Bristag48325.8 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2017 WA Goes Big A#466**Albida**

Out in the Wheatbelt again for the second consecutive weekend. This weekend the plan was to attack a number of towns in the North Eastern Wheatbelt and attend the FOTT event in Minnivale. It was a terrific weekend. Thank you to all the COs involved in providing entertainment this weekend.
Geotrakka lost her phone here, so we spent more time looking for that in her car than we did locating the cache. All was well here. Cheers Bristag!

Woke up bright and early and had a slow morning around the campsite.
Had a bit of chat about plans for the day and joined up with SirFancy, Kyzabra, AlliedOz, Granett, SVKR_WA & Fitzys.
Started off heading into Dowerin before making our way across to Wyalkatchem.
We turned north towards Koorda so I was able to tick off a new LGA. After stopping in town for lunch we made our way back to camp and waited for everyone else to arrive for a fantastic marshmallow event.
Had a ball out and about today with 26 finds.

After camping overnight in Minnivale ahead of tonight's Marshmallow event [GC9G5TP](https://coord.info/GC9G5TP) we headed out in a convoy of three cars to pick up a few smileys about the place.
Ended up walking in and soon worked out we could've driven. Never mind it was a quick find once at GZ.
Bristag I found your cache at 8:02am, this was the 2nd of 18 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 7089. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

On a road trip up to the Mid West. Today, we drove to Dowerin, Cadoux, down to Cunderdin and on to Quairading where we stopped for the night. We enjoyed the variety of hides, particularly those that were placed on or near signs that depicted the history of the area. Thank you to all the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches for our enjoyment.

Making the most of the public holiday today with Itskate and B12. Travelled around 670km and picked up one FTF for the day.
The weather was simply amazing and great to see a bit of water on the ground after the last week of rain.
Thanks to all the CO’s for your placement of these caches bringing me to some interesting places.
Looking forward to seeing you at WAGB Albany during the WA day long weekend.

After two surgeries in the last two months, then getting bad news about more plus getting things done at home I thought it was time for a short getaway to recharge the mind so Mr dimor chose the location for a change and that happened to be Dowerin for three nights
Today was our day to 'spred our wings' a little and head to Wylie to cache.
I did think of walking to this one but with having a few problems managing that little essential activity at times and as Mr dimor doesn't mind the odd scratch on the LC so we drove up to the well.

Great little spot, full of history and a few last wildflowers for the season. We looked for about 20 mins and didn't find the cache. But our internet didn't reach in the 300m so we didn't know where to begin! Enjoyed the spot. Maybe next time.
This weekend has been some time in the planning and we were heading up this way to drive the Wheatbelt Way Trail and collect geocaches along the route. We also had GCA caches, Waymarks and Sighters on the radar which should break up the trip nicely. We had no set plans for accommodation and we decided that we would see where we ended up each day to set up camp. This cache was one that we targeted on our mini adventure. Cheers and TFTC.
G’day there Bristag, I was in this area today and found your cache Naaning Well GC69RP6. I added my name to the log book at 9:27 am on 28 September 2019. A huge thanks to you for placing this cache here for us (and others) to find!

Walked around for a while looking for it, my 6yr old son yells out I found something the smile on his face priceless! My daughter left a flower inside and we didn’t take anything. Second find and I think this is going to be great family fun
Before we knew it we were on top of GZ with a million flies. How amazing is this bit of history. Appreciate the bench to sit to write the log. A few what would be obvious hide spots were quickly dismissed and we very soon had our treasure.
We did think of driving down the track were pleased for the walk.

Hi there Bristag.
We found your cache **"Naaning Well"** at 9:50:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 22319).
We are heading from SA to WAGB in Northam & we stopped off in Dowering on the way through. Now that we've settled in a nearby caravan park we have taken the opportunity to head out and find some of the caches we had couldn't have done with a caravan in tow.
We found 10 caches today & DNF'd 2. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic travels around Australia.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 3m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Interesting historical place to visit on my way home. I wouldn’t have thought to drove in here if not for the cache drawing in my attention. Favourite point added
Our first cache for the day as we headed for Merredin via Koorda. Enjoyed the walk and reading the boards. Thanks Bristag
Quick stop on way back home but not as quick as we would have liked. This was the "just one more" as we were due out to dinner with friends at 5.30 in Perth and it was already after 2pm. Had to walk very fast to well site which was further than I had realised. Then there was a bit of walking in circles until cache finally found. Clue very useful. Tftc NB We made it back and on time without speeding.
We had a free day and the weather was perfect so decided on a short caching trip to Koorda. Thanks for the cache Bristage we had fun looking for it.
Out for a couple of days caching, with the Geoson in the northern wheatbelt. Hopefully knocking off a few more lga's off the list.
Despite the weather, some fantastic finds and a few dnf's were had.
A big thanks to all the co's for placing and maintaining these hide. Great work showing off some real gems of the wheatbelt.

Found this cache on our way to the OZ Geo Muster at Morisset NSW.
Well worth the walk, I needed to stretch my legs and the trail was the perfect opportunity. So much hidden history here, we probably wouldn't have found it had it not been for the cache.
thanks

Day 15 of our Adventure to the northern Goldfields and now in the Wheatbelt. After a quiet night on the farm at Wyalkatchem, we are exploring the surrounding towns.
Stopped here on the way to Dowerin, enjoyed the walk along the track, finding the cache and reading the signs. Thanks Bristag for bringing us here. And not placing a nano on the metal relics

Well it’s now day 15 of our Northern adventure , now more Eastern adventure as we head south of the Great Eastern Hwy with m4yb, Jonathan the camper trailer and Max the GeoUte.
Out for a day in this nice area.
Three cheers to you for NOT placing a nasty nano at the front! Enjoyed our walk in and a good hide. Grabbed a TB and will travel it along
Thanks for the smiley Bristag

On our way to Kellerberrin for a night, we decided to grab some caches on the way. We parked up and headed towards the cache. After a short walk or stumbling trek in the dark we made it to gz. Cache was in the first place we looked, after signing and re-hiding duties we started the trek back in the dark. I must admit it’s a beautiful night for night caching. TFTC Bristag.
Axell33 and I managed to find this one in the dark! We couldn't find a track, through lots of webs and very dark. I stayed close. On a golden run through the wheatbelt. A long way from home and time to cache! The crops look like paddocks of gold and ready for harvest. Making our way up to Watheroo then winding across to Kellerberrin. Tyftc.
Continued through Dowerin to pick up this cache and another before attending the field day. A bit of history here then on to finding the cache. An easy find before moving on to the next. The traffic from this side was pretty full on as well. TFTC.
Avoiding the rain in Perth we headed out for a day trip around the wheatbelt finding a few caches along the way... This was our next target After making the walk to GZ & surprisingly keeping dry, Jase made the quick find here!
Thanks for showing us this interesting spot Bristag... & TFTC

Well talk about a delay in logging! Time has just flown by since I undertook this awesome LGA weekend with PommieParkin. Due to the delay, you will have to excuse the generic log.
PP2 enquired as to whether I would like to go on an adventure to get some more LGA's under our belts, to which I said of course! Set out on the Saturday to head up into the Wheatbelt for the weekend. We first stopped at Northam to do one or two of the Bristag caches I had heard so much good things about. Unfortunately we only managed one, but it did not disappoint!
From there we headed east through Meckering, Cunderdin and Tammin (knocking off a couple of LGA's). From there, we headed north to Wyalkatchem, stopping at a couple of interesting places for caches. I particularly enjoyed the stop at Yorkrakine Rock, it was such a beautiful spot.
We finally reached Wylie, where we were staying the night. Before the day was over we completed the wonderful series by WebblyWA, which gave us a great tour of the town. Once the caching was over, we met up with WebblyWA at night and had the pleasure to experience a drive-in cinema in Koorda, which was conveniently another LGA
On the Sunday, we finished off the caches we had on our list in Wylie and headed west towards Dowerin, where WebblyWA had another series. It was another great series and the final ended up being my 1000th cache found!
From there, we kept heading west to Goomalling for another LGA. This was where our LGA hunt was meant to stop. But, it was here that the LGA bug got to me and it became a case of "well if we just travel half an hour this way, we can get another LGA". So after little time spent convincing PP2, we headed north to Wongan Hills, stopping in Konnongorring for some great views at Gabby Quoi Quoi. Unfortunately, Wongan Hills cemetery was where we had our first DNF of the weekend, meaning our hopes of another LGA were riding on the one other cache in town. Luckily it was an easy enough find.
We then headed west towards Calingiri for one last LGA, stopping to admire Lake Ninan on the way (can't believe there isn't a cache there!). The cache in Calingiri was found, putting my total of LGA's found on the weekend to 8.
I had such an awesome weekend exploring this part of our great state. Many thanks go to the various CO's of the caches. But, I would particularly like to thank PP2 for suggesting the weekend, WebblyWA for some great series and Kyzabra for coming up with the LGA challenge, without which I probably wouldn't have explored this great area.
